i'm able to flash recoveries but when i try to enter them, my desire reboots and freezes on the alpharev splash screen.
never did the golden card...
what are my choises... just ruu? anything else?
my info:

thanks everyone...

have you tried booting into recovery using thru some rom, like oxygen or so? hold down the power button, select reboot->reboot into recovery. If it is not working than I think something is with your recovery. try flashing another one using ADB... fastboot flash recovery xxxx.img.
or try reboot recovery from adb

i'm not able to list the device with adb anymore while with fastboot i already tried:
recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img
recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-bravo.img
recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0-CM.img
recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img

Had the same prob...till i find this recovery: 4extRecovery
look here:

i got some bad update.
i decided to revert it through a ruu but i probably got the wrong one and now i'm stuck at the htc logo with the four triangles in the corners.
i now run this RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe but i got:
Code:
ERROR [152]: IMAGE UPDATE ERROR
and the phone says:
Code:

can anyone suggest something else than send to htc?
thanks...

other update:
i made a goldcard and then i was able to successfully run the ruu!
now i'm s-on and i can access again to hboot and fastboot normally but i'm not able to boot into recovery neither the system...
options?
thanks...

final update.
after a day of cooling, it boots nomally into the stock rom.

your Recovery probably was corrupted somehow. As you've gone back to stock, my advice has come late: you could've erased the old recovery and reflashed a new one from fastboot. You could do this either Fastboot Commander, Android Flasher or by renaming your recovery zip file as PB99IMB.zip and letting fastboot find it and flash it.

Semi-Brick (no adb, no recovery but fastboot) stuck in htc screen

I think I should first tell what happend and then what I did so far.
I got the phone from HTC and got a OTA update to 1.72. For the rooting process (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2) I first downgraded the phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886023). After the rooting process I installed the Ginger Villain 1.5 rom and everything worked fine until my phone decided to turn off one night.
What I now got is a phone which is stucked in the white screen with green HTC logo. Nothing happens even after 10, 20, 30 minutes waiting. Starting the phones bootloader works. Here are the Version information:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF

I have no adb access. Drivers are installed and (normally) working on my 32-bit windows 7 laptop. If I enter fastboot, I can use fastboot commands.
I try to remember all things I tried recovering the phone:
1) recovery from fastboot (v1)
- phone into fastboot
- >fastboot devices --> phone shows up
- >fastboot flash recovery c:\...\recovery.img --> Error: FAILED: remote not allowed
2) recovery from fastboot (v2)
- phone into fastboot
- >fastboot devices --> phone shows up
- >fastboot erase cache--> works
- >fastboot oem rebootRUU --> now the phone tries to boot normally or just boots the normal bootloader again
- same problem as in 1)
3) recovery from fastboot (v3)
- downloaded another fastboot version form here: http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/fastboot.zip
- tried 1) and 2) again -> same error
4) PC10IMG.zip recovery
- I downloaded the PC10IMG.zip from the downgrading process again (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261)
- put it on the sdcard
- bootloaded reads file and processes it correctly
- nothing happend > same boot loop
5) PC10IMG.zip recovery with custom recovery.img
- took the PC10IMG.zip from downgrading
- replaced the recovery.img with a GV1.5 recovery.img from a friends Desire Z
- same as in 4)
I hope i did not forget something. Please help to recover the phone.
I am in the exact same situation. No ADB, No Recovery, fastboot but no ENG HBoot, and stuck at the HTC screen. I was hoping there was a way to flash clockworkmod recovery using a PC10IMG or something so I can run a nandroid restore and have ADB access back.
EDIT: I found a modified PC10IMG.zip that restored CWM and a stock android build. From there it was simple to get back to CM7. You can find the file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10583834&postcount=33
Thanks for your reply. I did not get it to work again. But maybe your link will help many other people.

I have some problem . no adb, no recovery...
I had the same problem. I eventually just found a stock 2.2 PC10IMG.zip, flashed it, then rerooted, reinstalled recovery, then recovered my backup.

Help in recovering HTC desire , cannot go to recovery mode

Hi sir,
Can anyone please help me recover my HTC Desire? It has been stuck on the startup screen. It can enter boot but when i press recovery, it goes back to the startup screen . I have tried flashing from the sd card but it will not flash, sometimes saying cid error. tried several shipped roms using the ruu but it always says the rom is not compatible with my device . This phone apparently came from Chunghwa Telecom since it has a Senao sticker on the screws and battery. On the hboot, these are written on my device :
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-OFF
HBOOT - 0.93 0001
MICROP-051d
Touch Panel - SYNT0101
Radio - 5.14.05.17

I bought this desire from someone else who have apparently flashed different roms . Tried to call him several times but he won't answer my call anymore.
Tried flashing it via fastboot:
Here is the cmd procedure that i did :
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\JEFFRY>cd /d "C:\platform-tools"
C:\platform-tools>fastboot devices
HT09SPL00780 fastboot
C:\platform-tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.1.img
sending 'recovery' (3936 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... OKAY
After this procedure, i still cannot enter recovery .
can anyone please help me as to how i can recover my desire?
Thanks in advance.
Press power button and the return button, you will go in fastboot then go in recovery and install update.zip.

Did you wipe everything before trying to flash the recovery?
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
That will wipe everything so use with discretion!

[Q] Problem with Gingerbread, stopped at HTC Splash screen

Hello to all XDA-members
I have a problem with a Desire, I had installed the Gingerbread RUU from HTC. I used revolutionary to gain S-Off and it worked so than I choosed the option to install CWM which revolutionary offered me, the flashing was succesful, but when I tried to enter recovery I always stopped at the HTC splash screen and than nothing happen. So the problem is I can't access Clockworkmod.
I tried many other CWM-version like 4.0xxx or 3.02xxx, AmonRA, but always the same result.
I tried it with fastboot and also to boot the image "fastboot boot CWM.zip" and again it hangs by the HTC Screen.
Desire info:
In the Bootloader screen I see this:

I have a 4GB SanDisk MicroSD(HC) Class 2, I'm thinking about to partition the SD card, maybe this can solve the problem, I would be very happy if you can show me a good tutorial how to do it (maybe than recovery work). I noticed something too, when I'm entering fastboot (the menu where recovery is) it always looks into the SDcard for some images:
SD Cheking...

No image!
Loading...[PB99DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PB99IMG.zip]
No image!

Maybe it's looking to Update the Current ROM......hope someone can help me!

first of all: it is supposed to look into the sd-card for those files. Nothing wrong there.
second: my quote indicates that the recovery you are flashing is in zip format. this isn't right. It must be in .img format. To flash the recovery correctly download rom manager from the market and press flash recovery.
If you can't boot to your rom, flash the following .img file using fastboot commands: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-bravo.img
I'm sorry it was my writing mistake .zip I used .img, tried now the recovery 5.0 but why it hangs at the HTC splash screen when I try to enter the recovery.....? I don't know what I'm doing wrong, must I wait 10min to enter CWM?
No you must not. Have you tried to make "rom manager" flash the recovery for you? it should work just fine.

Just tried ROM Manager too, but it says "An errir occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" SuperUser is not installed.
Installing SuperUser?
Solved
Hey Guys just want to say that my problem is solved, I flashed this Recovery "RMD Recovery v1.0.3.4" and all is good now, thank you all for your support.

[Q] Wiping phone via fastboot

Hello
My sister was thinking she could crack my pattern lock, she didn't now the fone is stuck on the sign in screen (3g / wifi disabled)
Wanted to wipe the phone completely, but my volume up button is broke so i can't confirm it
Booting into fastboot mode and doing a fastboot -w
results in a erasing 'userdata'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
I found something about a 0.77 engineering hboot, but could not find it
So how can i wipe the phone?
***UNLOCKED***

Kind regards
1. Boot into fastboot (back + power), and flash a custom recovery (4ext recommended) using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
2. Boot into recovery, perform a full wipe, copy rom to sdcard, flash it.
Aint there a factory reset option in bootloader? Cant remember on the desire, been a while lol.

[Q] Help Me and my desire hd

Hello everyone,
six months I have the ROM Miui but then the phone is switched off
my htc desire hd will not start
when I start the ext4 recovery touch: the error recovery in safe mode
and I can not install a new ROM or do a wipe
Here is what hboot says:

I also see "HBOOT USB PLUG" when plugged in, and the computer does beep though no connection can be established. HTC Sync doesnt work (on a different computer), adb cannot connect and AAHK doesnt find a device.
The RUU from HTCDEV doesnt find the phone either....
What can I do? I tried to flash many PD98IMG.zip for example that of the stock and PD98IMG_cwmrecovery nothing but the result is always:
sd checking ....
loading .... [PD98DIAG.zip]
No Image
Loading .... [PD98DIAG.nbh]
No Image or Wrong Image
Loading .... [PD98img.zip]
No Image
Loading ...... [PD98img.nbh]
No Image or wrong image.
aspect of your answers and sorry for my english stupid
first method.. you can try flashing recovery from FASTBOOT mode..
download 4EXT recovery.img from here then extracted file and placed it to your adb/ sdk folder on your pc...then flash it through FASTBOOT mode with command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
second method...you can firstly flash RUU that already rooted by phiber2000 download from here.. through bootloader with PD98IMG.zip name of file..to fix your bootloader and at once replaced your hboot to the newest of ENG hboot..after that...you can continued with the first step for flashing recovery.img through FASTBOOT
hope this help..
thanks friend!
