[Q] (Q) Way to control music *in pocket* - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used to have a blackberry 8900 and simply control the track selection by using the volume rocker while in my pocket. I would also use the mute button to pause playback.
Is there a way to map the L/R buttons or hold the volume rocker to switch songs on the PLAY? Preferably without buying an app.
Thanks.

Nope, there is not.
but you can buy a SE MW600 headset... and problem solved.

The PSP had this
I just used the headset it came with.

Im sure theres some sort of root app that would allow this

there is a paid app in the market to remap buttons for rooted phones.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/buttonremapper/com.beansoft.buttonremapper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
Just need to remap the L/R buttons to "Media Next" AND "Media Previous"
I think I posted it in one of the other posts about using it with the DK300.
HOWEVER, I cannot find any app in the market to LOCK the buttons and stop them mapping the next / previous songs temporary or only mapped when using the music players.
So, if you mapped the buttons, you will accidentally pressing the buttons if you hold the phone up / put the phone in pocket/bag. Some players will just skip to next songs when u press the buttons, but some music players will play the songs and skip to next songs when you press the previous/next buttons.
any one can help?

Well I'd have to root my phone it looks like.
I wonder if there is a way to map media next/previous to the volume rocker when it is held down for a certain period e.g. 1 second

let me know if it works please

once CM7 comes to the phone in CM7 there is the ability to hold the Volume up down to skip to the next song or hold volume down to go to the previous song.

I think you do NOT have to root your phone:
I used a SE MW600 headset with the Xperia X10 and all of the buttons worked by default!

You will be able to do that with the Bluetooth headset - MW600
or LiveView
or the Live Headphones if they are supported.

What is CM7?

[Q] AKG K328/K350 - do they work with SGS2s?

I know this is a new product, but maybe.
http://uk.akg.com/product-detail-2821/k328sbp.html is a headset w/ microphone and vol control, but it says it's been made for the i-products (ipod/iphone...)
Does anyone know if they work with Androids, specifically SGS2s? (the mic and vol control I mean).
(for anyone who cares, I've signed up to be a guinea pig, and yes they work well, except for the volume control buttons.)
If you download th eKlipsch app from Market adn install it it can allow you to add more button type clicks on it that can help you control the volume and skip tracks etc.
It was meant for their own android headset but I have discovered it works well on iphone headsets too
Best of all it is free!
So, are the AKG K328 working perfectly with SGS2 using Klipsch Control? Can I have a confirm?
Microphone, volume (+ and −), call answer, play/pause, next/previous song are all working correctly?
Many thanks indeed

[Q] urBeats with HOX

Hi all.
I recently purchased an HTC One X and a pair of urBeats earphone with it.
urBeats earphone link : http://www.beatsbydre.com/earphones/beats-urbeats/beats-urbeats,default,pd.html
The sound is amazing and overall I am satisfied with the device. However the volume controls dont work on the one x. Is there absolutely no way by which the volume control can work? Play, pause, call answer etc. all work fine. I am using Android Revolution HD rom.
P.S. - I dont really remember but I think the volume control worked before the jellybean update.
Thanks in advance.

you should of gotten the HTC UrBeats, the UrBeats on the official website is DESIGNED for iDevices... This means, ONLY the middle button will work. and no, remote apps will not make the volume buttons work, they aren't even recognized by the android device at all...
You can use a remote control application which can make the middle button skip tracks (e.g press 3 times to skip track etc.)
Android's headphones/earphone remotes have track skip buttons and iDevices have volume buttons...
So there is absolutely no way by which i can makemot work.....?

You can also use combinations to change volume, and basically whatever you want.
Chekout: Headset Button Controller
I've used it before. Works pretty well.

[Q] Headphones

Hi there,
Has anyone found a pair of good headphones with a mic that are compatible with advanced commands such as volume up/down, next track etc.? My pair of Sennheisers can start and stop, but none of the more advanced settings worked. I tried various apps to assign actions to one button headsets and had no luck at all. Actually, even the basic functions of start/stop are lost when those apps are active. To my knowledge the only headphones that have been reported to retain advanced button assignments are these ones: Samsung ehs64avfbe, but I am reluctant to buy a Fairphone one the one hand and a cheap pair of headphones on the other.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Headphones update
OK, I took the plunge and bought a pair of Senheiser MM 30G. My reasoning was that I had seen somewhere that a pair of cheapish Samsung headphones worked well with the fairphone, and that the MM 30G had been manufactured for Samsung phones. The headphones have a three button command, which are supposed to be volume up/down as well as a start/stop button, which will also answer and end calls.
Out of the box the buttons actually did: next song instead of volume up, and previous song instead of volume down. The middle button for start stop works fine. This is acceptable for me, as I can change the volume quite easily even without taking the phone or of my pocket (the volume rocker is quite tactile even through jeans).
Interestingly, when using different apps to assign button controls I could get the volume control to work via the remote on the headphones, but no long press options e.g. For next song were available. I am thus using them as they are with no extra apps, as being able to skip songs while cycling is important to me.
Hope this helps a bit.

[Q] Default headset button should work like Apple's?

You know Apple's headset button has features like 2 click to next song, 3 click to previous song. Htc's headset has got button, but very useless. So its possible to do this with m8? Could we control songs? Thanks for your help.

Yes IF the app supports it.
I used to use Power Amp prior to switching to Google Play Music.
In the settings of Power Amp was options for headset buttons. Single click, double click, stuff like that.
Thats built into apples default player so everybody is spoiled with that option. But with Android its a bit different.

HTC Headphone 3-button music controls

Back when the Nexus One was released, it came with a 3-button headset that included music controls for Play/Previous/Next. Because the N1 was an HTC device, plugging these headphones into other HTC phones also worked with these controls. On non-HTC devices, the Previous/Next buttons became volume controls while the Play button's functionality stayed the same.
The HTC 10 is the first HTC device I've seen where these headphone controls no longer work like they should. The Previous/Next buttons are now volume controls just like any other android device.
Anyone know if there's a file or lib that controls three button headphone functionality? Could this be ported to the HTC 10 from older devices and restore the Previous/Next functions?
If you press the main button two consecutive times you skip song, if u press it 3 you get the previous one.?

Thanks for responding. I already knew about the double-click to go forward and triple click to go back (though going back doesn't work on either of my 3-button HTC headphones).
But I find double/triple tapping to be annoying because I would rather use forward/back buttons as they were designed. I was hoping someone would know of a way to restore this function.
