[REQ] Stock Theme with 8 Lockscreen Mod - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

8/9/11 - 10 PM: Since the mod itself is very deep in the framework-res code, the request has been changed to a stock theme with ONLY the 8 Lockscreen mod. At least this way, anyone who feels bold enough to overlay their own themes onto this modded base may do so.
I greatly appreciate maddoggin's on the 8 Lockscreen mod, but I just don't want to change the theme settings that I have now (plus piling themes on top of one another gave me phone problems). All I want is the mod itself, no status bars, no themes, no icon changes, just the mod.
That is, unless someone can tell me what do modify from maddoggin's initial theme to leave just the lockscreen mod.

+1 i Agree. im satisfied with me theme just looking for the mod

+ 1 as well.
Would do it myself but just not sure enough on what I'm doing.

the mod is baked into framework-res... which would make it impossible to get the mod without changing half of your theme (battery icons, notifications, window frames anything that resides in framework-res) in other words you would need to do it individually for each theme.

Exactly... But if anyone would take the time (not me) it may be possible to do with metamorph.... Maybe not 100% sure tho.

thats true.. if anybody wants to try taking a gingerbread metamorph for framework-res and adding the xmls and required images to it. i got it to work once for froyo with window animations... i dont run ginger so i wont be able to mess around with this one.

Does that mean that it's like the CRT mod or is the appropriate code even deeper than that? Should I just aim my request directly at maddoggin, then?

In that case how about a request for a stock theme with the lock mod, crt and overscroll.

While that solution does work for me, it may not work for someone else who desires a non-stock theme (again, layering multiple themes can cause problems which means a data wipe is needed). Ideally, maddoggin could release the code for modding framework-res so all the themers can successfully integrate it, but if worst comes to worst (and it's programming, so it often does), then I'll change the request to a modded stock theme.

He has man. Not every theme has incorporated it. The easy way to do it is to swap in your preferred images.
Cd's or tapes?

I haven't seen a code release thread anywhere for it. I did a search for it, but all I have seen is various theme threads giving credit.

So if we were to try and "snatch and replace" just the 8 ls mods...inside fr res...what would these 8..be called in the folder becaue i am dying to try...gettin bored with 6 lol?? I been puttin all kinds of themes together to get where i am now..why stop? Thanks in advance..

i dont know why people think there is "code" or "source" to be released! i understand you may want to do this your self and use how ever you want to use i truly understand that! thats how it all started for me i saw other samsung phones with this mod and told my self why doesnt the epic have it andd i requested and requested untill i just said "**** IT" imma do it myself! well you want to know how i did it! theres no damn "source" or speciail magic trick or even a guide on how to do it! i grabbed the mod from 3 different phones dude! the fascinate, galaxy 19000 and the captivate. and i searched the forums and figured out how to make it all work on our phone! thats how it was done! no source no tricks! of course i got help from the guys i dl the mods from but thats it! so im sorry the lock mod isnt exactly to your liking dude and anyone else for that matter. but if you want something done try searching around the forums and figure out how to do it yourself otherwise shut the **** up, quit whinning and be happy that have 8 damn locks to choose from at all!

I can understand your frustation Maddoggin. I don't think he intended to upset you. I think he simply would like someone to teach him what mods were necessary to implement this into a stock theme template. As you described it is a lengthy and arduos task to pull from many sources. I think he simply hopes you will share you modifications to the framework-res that implement this so that he can either create a stock theme template or someone else can. Guys please be sure to not hound our devs. We have seen enough move on to other phones. Maddoggin has every right to say no and someone can do what he did or we can simply try to persuade him to help you learn more.

I am always open to help someone out that's has never been a problem I help those who ask for help! But I won't walk you through the whole process! You WILL learn or you WILL give up! All you have to do is open up my files! You want to know the source is! The source is the s5tock files! That's the damn source! You compare my files with the stock ones and get the difference! That's the mod! What some people are asking for is for me to give them only the files needed for the mod! That's ****ing ridiculouse! That would take me more time to do than it did to make it work on our phone! There are so many files modded it would be almost impossible and in anycase this mod isn't mine to give away it belongs to the man who created it and he will be of less help than me trust me!

When I update my files to the new leak (when a deodexed rom is posted) I will make a stock version of the mod nothing else no battery % nothing just plain stock version! That's the best I can do! Sorry for getting frustrated! But I put in allot of time making this mod work on each release and I don't get paid for it **** my wife is mad at me cause I spend more time on this mod than I do with her! Lmao! So yeah it gets frustrating when you hear someone isn't happy with your work! Sorry!

Maddoggins right... I respect this guy. He's to the point and does what he wants but he's nice if you need any help... the only reason he's pissed is because people have asked about this thousands of times in his thread and if you want it then make it.

[THEME] [MOD] Project-Intercept

I'm going to be undertaking the task of taking the default sprint theme placed on the Samsung Intercept and modding it to the original default white android theme found on most commonly Motorola Droids.
I originally had the idea of doing this since this phone seems to not be too common among the android community, and for people like myself who do not want to ROM or flash the mods to the phone it is near impossible to find any MetaMorph or NinjaMorph compatible mods for it. So I decided to take a step up and start on my own little project because I personally think the stock theme seems like a generic cheap theme, and I prefer the default android theme.
In the future if this mod is successful I may undertake one converting to the HTC android theme as well and possibly package it into a full MetaMorph once I gain experience.
Attached below are the images of what I plan to convert the theme too which is going to be starting with just the statusbar and notification and battery icons. First image is the stock intercept theme, the second is the original android theme I will be modding it to and the third is the stock HTC theme which will be coming later on.
I'm experiencing weird issues when trying to replace the status bar with the Droid one it refuses to replace the png, however the HTC statusbar replacement works perfectly using NinjaMorph. I'm going to try flashing the modified droid instead and see if that gets me somewhere
Why can't you just download a stock ROM and get the framework-res there?
Got the files I needed out of it and I'm getting ready to apply the files also working on getting a stock HTC ROM as well now thanks zHk3R
Edit: I just tried using NinjaMorph to replace the statusbar png with the droid one and it failed to change it even though it said it was successful but when I applied the HTC statusbar png it worked perfectly the first time strange
This projects basically dead. I hate this phone beyond what words can describe, the whole "customized" android ROM Samsung put on this phone makes me feel like I'm running a cheap rip off smartphone. There is no stock ROMs or un-customized ones to the point where they are all even more bloated than this pos stock ROM.Backing up this phone is impossible, metamorphs don't work on it and ninjamorph doesn't work properly on it. I wish I didn't have another few months left before my upgrade I can't wait to get rid of this thing. And to top it all off It is impossible to access recovery mode I've tried both my phone and my brothers intercept and both can not be booted into recovery mode unless I use an app while inside android. I'll be back on here when I can find a non piece of crap android phone from Sprint.

Check over at SDX-Developers There has been many changes for the Intercept that will make rethink the Intercept. There has been several ROMs built and many themes are being ported. I've been porting several and made a few.
I've been over there and tried the roms available and it was a disaster. The level of respect I got from members over there was terrible as well they were not willing to help at all and ignored several questions that were asked. It was just plain rude and I ultimately left that site behind after not being satisfied with the mods available and the people there.

sorry to hear that. I have never been disrespect there. But I do know that questions will not get answered right away if the questions you are asking have been answered already. It gets real annoying when no one reads just asks questions and complains. When 90% of the time the problem or question you have somebody already had it or asked about it. And as far as not being satisfied with the mods available there, then you're pretty much out of luck because that is where all the ROMs, Themes, and MODs are coming from for the Intercept. But for another place where the people are nice and helpful is ubuntdroid.com and there is great development for the Intercept there.
Yeah for sure it got too be extremely stressful and just not worth the time to continue to be on the forum over there. I'm going to be trying some metamorphs from around the forums here to see if they are working or not on it, It was just to the point where my questions that were not previously asked where being ignored in order for someone to bash a new person asking a question that was easily answerable by a search. Guess I'm just on a break for now on making progress with this phone.

Well I'm not sure if metamorphs are going to work on the intercept. But if all you're trying to do is theme then all you need to do is be deodexed and then you can make themes & just flash them. I've been porting and making themes for sometime on the intercept. I'll be releasing a port of the BUUF theme for the intercept tonight. After you get a hang of themeing it kinda turns into an addiction. It becomes easy but time consuming

I'm not sure I've got a backup done all I pretty much plan to do with the metamorphs is change out the statusbar and the icons up there with it, and possibly the app icons. I'm just taking a break from it since it's just caused me a ton of un-needed stress from the mess over at sdx. I'm going to try the metamorphs this weekend and see what the deal is with them.

Like I was saying to do that you don't have to metamorph. Just be deodexed then make the changes then flash the new themed template with the new changes. I know it would be nice to have metamorph working but unless youre a developer and plan switching a lot of stuff to get it to work I say more power to you and can't wait to see if you get it done
I'm not a developer so I won't be able to get it to work more than likely. Thanks for the advice and saving me the trouble of possible messing my phone up with metamorph, so for the deodexed template I just have to replace the images I want and flash it through inxane's recovery as I would a normal rom correct? Again appreciate the help man

Flash the deodexed stock template thru inxaxne recovery. This will keep everything stock but makes it so you can edit everything and not have fc's everywhere. Then flash the deodexed template you made with the changes you did. If you can't get. Just get yourself deodexed then pm with what you want changed then I could make the changes and set it up in a flashable zip. But try it first its not hard. But ALWAYS make backups just in case. And remember that if you can still boot your phone into recovery then you can still fix it

Alright sounds good I'll work on replacing the images and backing up everything on my phone then. I already made a theme to flash but I lost it on my laptop when I wiped it last night. I've got no problem with making the flashable theme so again thanks for the help.

Ok cool give it a try and let me know. Remember to make the png changes to the deodexed template and you don't have to unzip it just open archive with 7zip and drag the pngs you want to change, make sure they have the same file name. And if you need help just pm here or thru sdx. I check both often.

Bumping for status update - extremely interested in this project.
what kind of update are you looking for? if you want the htc sense theme for the intercept?.. this has already been done. and if you want the stock white just ask I could possible have that done for you. if you are familiar with sdx(im pretty sure i've seen there) then search there for intercept themes and you'll find the samsense theme port by wwsean08

By status update I meant where OP was on his project of bringing the stock white Android theme to the Intercept, which is what I've been looking for. I've attempted porting the files myself but had a few hangups. My main concerns is porting the Statusbar and notification area entirely, including its status icons (battery, connectivity, ect).
The re-visioned theme Samsung/Sprint put on the Intercept just looks so... cheap. The lockscreen, for example, was the cheapest looking excuse for a lockscreen I've seen since Windows NT. Replacing *that*, however, was easy thanks to SDX.
And yeah, I go to SDX :3 Between XDA and SDX, it's Android heaven.
Apologies for the lack of updates I haven't gotten a chance to start working on the theme I've been pretty busy lately I just need to figure out how to change the date and time text in the statusbar to black since it will show up as invisible if I were to use the original android statusbar so I can't move forward until I figure that part out.

I couldn't agree more with you on that the stock theme on this phone looks even cheaper than some of the non-smartphones I've seen around which isn't saying much, the lock screen is why I use the pattern lock I just liked the pattern to begin with so it worked out good. Hopefully this theme works since it's the only reason I tried to flash ubuntdroids rom in the first place

[REQ] Port of WhiteMochi to Froyo/ACS.

My first post...been lurking around for a while.
I feel like this would probably be pretty simple for someone who knew more about what to do.
I tried flashing the zip, then tried using reframe.sh (through android terminal emulator) to reboot into just the framework, then tried editing the framework-res.apk by adding files and moving files to match other Froyo framework-res.apk files...but all of those things failed.
I didn't really anticipate my actions would have the desired effect, but I was trying.
I don't know what would have to be done. If it's simple and someone would be willing to update this for Froyo, I'd appreciate it. I think some others would as well.
In addition, if anyone could point me in the direction of some learning material for this kind of stuff, not just how to theme but also maybe some development guides for beginners, I would appreciate that as well.
Then I could just do this type of thing myself in the future.
Here's the link to an xda thread with WhiteMochi v0.003: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843204
Thanks in advance.

Do you want the lockmod installed along side?
What exactly do you mean by the lockmod?
My current rom uses the AOSP lockscreen by default so it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I meant maddoggins lockmod for EC05. It includes 6 different locks.
Oh, no. I tried to install it but was having issues getting it to work.
The one straight from the lockmod thread didn't work (FC when trying to view Lockscreen Settings), I found a working version in the framework included with the Nebula rom/theme but didn't like the status bar.
I was under the impression the WhiteMochi just used the AOSP, or were you asking for another reason?

Haha I can make you a version of nebula with a different colored notification bar if you'd like.
I'm sure it uses the AOSP lock. I was just asking if you wanted me to implement the 6 lock.
If you could get the 6lock in with the Mochi that'd be sweet, but it's not necessary for me.
Would be a huge plus though, hahah.
Still looking for anyone willing to possibly port this over to Froyo/SRF.
I'm mainly just looking for a white status bar without a gaudy notification pulldown and attractive icons.
I tried FrostPort v1.2 but personally disliked the status bar icons (all of them).
I noticed that the Galaxy Prevail (the new prepaid Boost Android phone) has a nice white framework, so even a port of that would be killer.
I read up on theming and I have a basic understanding of what to do, it doesn't seem overly difficult. Only issue with me is that I work 5-6 days a week long hours so I don't always have time to devote to studying up/getting in practice...especially as of late.
I have two days off coming up which I'll most likely wind up devoting the bulk of to learning how to theme (devoted my last two days off to my phone as well...don't know how to feel about that).
In the meantime, however...once again...if anyone is up to the task, have at it. I would appreciate it, and I know others would too.
I'd like to see this theme... Where can I see screen shots of the original theme? I have no knowledge of Android Theming or anything. But if there's a pretty good guide, and by pretty good I mean something that will SHOW me how to do it, then I could give it a try. But I'm more visual so a walk through that's text only won't help.
This seems like its AOSP straight to the bone seriously just use the AOSP ROM, whats honestly different?
When trying to flash it via Clockwork it says "Amend script was disabled in this version" or some such thing, and then says "Installation Aborted".
Using reframe.sh causes the phone to not boot (sticks on boot anim).

You're going to want to grab maddoggin's stock framework-res and policy.jar. Then you can theme that framework-res.
I actually had to change alot if things to get it to work with sfr1.2 and eb resurrection.

It is not enabled in framwork, the images are added in framework, but you need to edit androidpolicy.jar, but I don't know the changes that need to be made . But my problem was when I tried to theme it, even though I replaced all the correct images I still got FC's in some areas.

Haha remember back when I first released Nebula?
I had a ton o' problems! I couldn't get the menu colors to change and **** kept force closing... And you just sat there!
Kidding.
OP: Use the stock or simply blue as a template. Adding specific files would be an annoying process. Theme/add the files that you would normally be changing and whip them in with the template.
Off-topic: to Mystery, eccoce, and other themers, I am having trouble getting application icons to stick. And now my wallpaper is not sticking. Some that look good on stock don't show up on SRF. The wallpaper shows up on stock but doesn't on Frankenstein... Any idea what is causing this?
There are also xml files in the framework. What I did was build the theme just how I wanted it. After that I copied the jar file, all of the unlock images and all of the unlock xml files from simply blue. I modified some of the unlock images and that was it. Granted my theme is simple so that made it easier.

you realize I got it to work on my rom and I also got it to work on my theme. The amount if work I had to do to get it to work is alot to type.
I had to transfere xmls &pngs to a 100% stock framework-res.apk. I also had to modify other xmls and then I had to android.policy.jar.
If I am to go into details it would take me hours to write one post and it wouldn't be 100% gurante it would work for him cause then there is going to be changes he is going have to make to work with his theme cause my edits may contradict some of his.
So unless you know the full story you can just keep your mouth shut or tell him your self how you did it

Yeah, I saw what an undertaking it was. I used the existing gb puzzle theme as my base, but it slowed the gb Rom down to a crawl. Then i got a bunch of bugs to fix at work.
When I have time, I'll look at it again, cuz i want to get more into android (i.e., give back)

And this is exactly the kind of answer I would say we are all looking for. It's not important how hard it is, what matters is getting pointed in the right direction on what had to be done, and to pick up from where you left it. THAT is what Open Source is all about!
I really appreciate your hard work Mystery (and more because we represent the Hub!! hahah)

To bad my response don't point in the right direction. its very vague and I'm sure 75% of what I said he already knew.
Just remember it took maddogin month to port. It took me 2 weeks to port to the rom and I just spent 4 hours last night trying to iron out more bugs
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Can do like I normally do when porting to a new firmware (ie EC05 to EF02). Decompile the jar and dex, then do a directory diff between maddoggins and your jar. I use winmerge. Then start figuring out what are the differences for the firmware, and the differences for the mod... and just copy mod differences over...
Thx. I'm busy trying to muddle through facebook documentation, atm. Not sure when I'll pick this back up, but I was planning on doing a diff on th jar.

[ROM] Stock Deodexed FI27 Customized slightly...

Ok so this is my entrance into trying to develop for android and giving back to the community. :victory:
Since this is my first rom, I left it mostly stock, with a few add ons.
Please forgive any errors, I'm a NOOB! LOL
Included are some of my favorite apps, and a few other things I forgot what they were lol.
Included apps are Titanium Backup, CPU Sleep, Notification Toggles (Adds custom buttons to status bar, negating the need for extended toggles), Root Uninstaller, Root Explorer, Cachemate cache cleaner, A few different Launchers, DX Battery Saver, Drippler ( Keep up to date on tons of stuff E4GT related), TweetLanes (my personal favorite Twitter alternative) and a Sense style clock
I would like to thank everyone that has helped me along the way. :highfive:
Timmetal6669 - Thanks bro, without your guidance, I'd be bricked, no doubt.
Sniper - Your suggestions and help with some of my scripts were a life saver
Kobridge - For your init.d tweaks and scripts
Manufan - For allowing me to pull some apps and ideas from your roms
Rujelus - For your recovery kernel (sorry that you went uncredited for so long, I didn't realize I had done that)
Venum - For bringing that to my attention so that I don't look like a complete **** lol
Agat - For your recovery kernel
Rwilco, crawj, & sextape - for the resources and base rom
IMPORTANT! : REQUIRES A CLEAN INSTALL AND REBOOT AFTER FIRST LOAD! No idea why, but nothing wanted to work on initial boot.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/102533325/Stryke's_FI27_Customized_Stock.zip
Initial Release: FI27 Base, The Kuban Recovery, select included apps
Second Release: Changed to Agats recovery kernel for init.d support, and added kobridges tweaks

I was there myself man, don't give up though. Seriously, being able to post my rom was spectacular. If i remember right the status bar is a framework-res edit, but dont quote me on it lol. I found that between searching the forums (a fantastic resource) and the help of some great developers, you'll get there
found this that may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9978779&postcount=62 and you'll need the autoapktool found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053227

Nice, thanks man, I've themed my whole rom already but haven't been able to change anything related to the status bar, I thought theming the battery icons would show in the status bar but nothing changes, it's left me stumped. That's the first thread i've seen that actually explains it. Only problem I have now is decompiling, apk manager keeps throwing me errors. I think I'm gonna try for apktool instead.

FI 27 doesn't seem to like being themed. I think I'm gonna decompile it and try tho figure out what they added to it to make it force close when themed No doubt an xml in colors or something. But I'm gonna get to the bottom of it.
Highly appreciated Tim. I've been researching religiously the last 4 days and have drawn a blank. I'm still very new to this so I figured it was something I'm doing wrong, but I've yet to find any status bar tutorials on tw-based roms so I wasn't sure if it made a difference.

Ok i suggest if you want to play around with ROM building or theming and modding to pick up the team rejectz quick fix. Also make sure you google jdk and java and have both of those up to date to decompile and compile correctly. Also for theming i suggest having adobe fireworks and Photoshop. You can also use gimp . Parts of the status bar are in framework xmls, but most of what you theme is in system ui. The whole tw drop screen (notification menu) is in system ui. Use 7 zip or just decompile and recompile, which ever is easiest for you. I suggest playing with both as they both are handy. Also you might wanna google .9 compiler. And sdk tools for .9pngs. There is plenty in the Android forums on how to decompile and recompile along with theming. Of course as you can see we at team rejects encourage learning how to do this yourself and are willing to help if we can. My email is [email protected] if any one needs help, hit me up on gtalk.

Only thing I don't have is the quick fix I'll check it out. I've got everything set up correct though, I can decompile and compile everything fine except systemui, it fails everytime decompiling. I'm using photoshop cs5 and paint.net to adjust the png's, and draw9patch for .9 files and it works great but I get stuck at systemui. I'm gonna check my log and see what it's giving me the trouble. I appreciate everything man, I know it's hard when people like me have questions, but I've been trying to dev for some time and have been running around in circles.

What does aroma have to do with it? Many here prefer the unthemed roms. That's why my rom is a stock base, even tho I prefer a theme. Themes are a add on in my updater so that everyone wins.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I'm saying that because of Aroma you can pretty much do whatever you like to an extent....therefore, there aren't many devs themeing. If we didn't have the luxury of Aroma, this section would definitely have at least a handful of themes.

That has nothing to do with stand alone themes. 1 developer making a theme aroma installer doesn't stop the entire forums. Joshbeach has his own theme applied to his rom. Sleshepic has his own theme applied. My rom has available themes.
Those who usually make stand alone themes are the ones who don't have there own rom, so they make a universal theme. It wouldn't make sense for the rom creators to make universal themes on top of their rom.
I also believe the community here prevents more themes from being created. Go read a thread like Jellybomb and every page has someone complain about the theme. I assume that's why Sleshepic made a mostly stock themed rom. And that's why my base is mostly stock themed.
I had one member who tried Lab Rats and was bashing it in another rom thread for having a custom boot animation and pull down. What's a rom if there is nothing specific to the rom?
Obviously I'm only speaking on my behalf and my thoughts, not anyone else mentioned in this post.

I'm not sure it is the community preventing anything.
People with chops for, or a desire to learn Android OS building/theming usually go right at making a full ROM rather than a theme for another ROM on the Sprint Note 2. That is just the way this device on Sprint has been. Even folks who are admitted beginners at the dev game, basically have taken a handful of standard patches (4-way reboot/all-apps-in-multi-window/Perseus-Kernel for example) applied them to the latest vanilla deodexed ROM and then themed the snot out of it as a new fll ROM rather than a theme patch....when they could have just themed the snot out of someone else's ROM which already basically had all the patches they wanted. I don't mean to single or look down on any one dev or person's work out in that statement, just to be clear. It is just an observation.
Hence the current situation we have...lots of folks of varying ability all pushing out their own themed TWiz ROMs, all with basically the same patches between them. It is an easy comparison to Ubuntu linux, and the dozens (hundreds rather) of themed clones that Ubuntu has....when people could just make a red theme for Ubuntu, rather than using RemasterSys and cooking an entire new Ubuntu Red themed distro.
Where's the community preventing anything? I mean maybe if devs made thorough documentation on how to theme the TWiz ROM available it would help....but that is more work for devs with lives, and that is still not the community at large's fault.

I guess I could have worded it better. I didnt mean it's the communities fault there is no themes, I just don't believe there had been much of a desire for them. I have seen more anti theming posts then requests for them in general. Then there is the user above that says all we need is the Aroma theme chooser, if everyone is happy with that, then it doesn't encourage others work. I started with helping anothers rom on my last phone.
I have a few people over here that we have taken under our wing to learn, that's what keeps xda alive. I have answered multiple pm's asking for help, and do my best to help them. It's annoying tho when you repeatedly help someone and they don't even Thank you in the op, but that's a different matter.
There are many tutorials available on how to theme, all you have to do is search. While most roms have some of the same features like 4 in 1 reboot, I believe that's because it's considered a must have to most users.
OP could google how to port it, but chooses not to try or failed and didn't get help. Users should be more proactive in my opinion, but only they can choose to.

I hadn't seen the theming guides for TWiz for making a theming patch...then again I hadn't looked.
I think most end-user people are usually against it, as theming is a personal choice and what pleases one person inevitably causes 2 more people's eyes to wince in pain. Hence why (the PITA of keeping) Morphology is a cool thing for those that want a themed TWiz....but on the dev side, keeping all of Morphology working is a PITA like I said. We've been swearing at Morphology and MA7 of late behind the scenes.
Users could be more proactive....but at the same time, there's cost and reward and how many headaches you're willing to go to to just change the color of say the SMS or SPen app.
I doubt there is a guide that will tell you where every file is because tw is such a pain with its naming. I couldn't of the top of my head tell you where a lot is, I tear apart apps and find what I think is it and test it. It's a lot of trial and error.
You can Google big parts of it tho, I have done it myself to find stuff when I was stuck. Maybe I will make a thread with some basic locations like status bar pngs. I don't know how many people would find it useful, but I guess we can see how many people are willing to try stuff on there own.

Well...and as soon as such a database or wiki document or whatever is compiled....the next TWiz update will render all of it obsolete.
Theming touchwiz is a pita because the roms are all different. My theme is based on stock, and it actually comes from my own rom, but it has taken me many, many hours to get it the way I want it. First you spend a ton of time themeing the stock rom, then devs come out with tweaked roms, and now people want you to go back and tweak you theme for each rom, or add tweaks that are rom specific to your theme, etc. It also seems like samsung/sprint tweak little bits of stuff between each leak/update so everytime something changes there is a resources that change so you have to recompile the whole freaking thing.

Which is why such list will never be complete. That's why I said basic stuff like signal bars, battery, etc that shouldn't change much.
