*Now the problem is, when I rename the files to SIN and make bundle FTF with Flash Tool, it stuck, I try every file there, but it can't flash them
**I need it because I have Prototypes, and they flash-able only with Flash Tool.
Unfortunately not.
I tried a few weeks ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126409#postcount15007369
what about rename all files to *.sin ? after that try to convert to ftf
Good luck in your endouvers, please call me when successful!
It IS possible!
Extract all the files wotan has downloaded in the /data/flashes folder with 7zip. (they have no file extension)
Now you should have files with extensions like "*.s01", "*.s02", and so on.
Rename all files to "*.sin"
In Flashtool (I used 0.6.8.0) menu Advanced -> Bundle Creation
Select all *.sin files, right arrow to Firmware content
Fill in the Device, Version and Branding field
Press OK
Now you have your selfmade *.ftf file!
Edit: It doesn't work on my LT18i! But it should!! You hear from me.
Work??
It's Work???
How do I extract ftf file so I can flash kernel.sin via fastboot?

Could you post a link to what you used? I'm not at my computer at the moment. So I'll help you out when i'm back at it

I follow the instruction from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274409
and this is the download link:
http://www.multiupload.com/L4ZWC6H3HQ
I extract the file I download, it contain:
META-INF folder, few files with ".sin" extension, as long as I know, it should be one single ".ftp" file. (correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not sclever about this) and put the ".ftp" file in Flash-firmware folder. Right?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App[/QUOTE]
i see what ya doing
firstly, the file you flash is an ftf (stands for FlashTool File)
and secondly, you dont need to extract it
just place the file you downloaded ***R800i_4.0.1.A.0.283_(1247-6212).ftf*** in the firmware folder of flashtool
open the flashtool program
click flash and select the firmware in question
then follow on screen directons (turn phone off, hold back button while plugging in, and wait for the magic to happen)
sometimes, things can sound so much more complicated than they are i hope this works for you ^_^
I checked the file from your download link and it's the right '.FTF' file and you don't need to extract it unless it's in a .zip or .rar file when downloaded. If it's a FTF file you've downloaded that's the way it should stay and be used with flashtool. Just put it in the 'firmware' folder that got extracted along with x10FlashTool etc.

it's showing the files in the manner it would if i opened an ftf with 7zip. so what i suggest to you, is to change the .zip of the download to .ftf
but why it shows on your computer as a .zip is weird?!?!!? i looked at the link, and it says .ftf maybe winrar (that is the program you unzip with, right?) changed it?
but change the extension to ftf and try again
you MIGHT need to enable "show file extensions for known file types" to do it. but try without first.
Yeah... I feel wierd too. Everybody already able to flash their rom while I can't. True it is written '.ftp' but when download it, it become '.zip' file.
Or could it be.... some one already change the file?
Thank.
GN Multimedia - Xperia Arc
did you try changing the file extension?
Yes. but still make no different.
Yeah it's weird you end up with a .zip file when downloading. I used the same link last week and have just checked the downloaded file and it says .ftf file extension.
Try downloading it on your play that might help.
Regards Dousan...
I've downloaded the file, and compressed it into a self extracting archive. I'll upload it after work and give you the link. You should be able to place it into the firmware folder. Double click to extract and then go from there

how did it go?
So i check around the internet and found this. If you cant see the firmware content when selecting your ftf files. I found that by opening the ftf files using 7zip and deleting the for me it is the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_UK file inside then try to check whether the firmware content can be seen.
After deleting the file, the content can be seen. But i didnt try to flash it as i fear something might go wrong and hard bricked my phone. Anybody can test it out?
Idea from : lynxdog. ( I just played around the ftf folder to test it out whether can see the firmware content. )

As you have discovered the .ftf is simply a compressed file using a different file extension. The .sln files are also simply .img so you can use fastboot to flash these as required. I found that the UK generic 2.3.4 ftf file refused to decompress and be processed by flashtool so I manually extracted/unzipped the files and used fastboot to flash the kernel/system/userdata .sln to achieve what I wanted.

Same as the ICS Beta firmware i guess. As it came in a form of .img file instead of .ftf. file. So this firmware (uk generic 2.3.4) is only avail for unlock bootloader user. Bump!!!

I'll check but it is a signed kernel and should flash just fine on a locked bootloader. I'll test it later this afternoon and confirm.

The flashtool has an option under advance menu called bundle creation. I haven't used it but I'm guessing you point it at a folder with the collection of files (system, kernel etc...) and it does the rest.

That's okay, I found it though, but I have no idea how to work with the IMG files, as in, can't convert them into a group of .SIN_FILE_SET files to make them work with the Flash Tool bundle creator. So that won't work, because as far as I know, converting IMG to SIN isn't possible.

Too many unknown words and language.... =.=, actually i post this to hlp some user who experience what i experience. the ftf files not showing firmware content and as a result cant flash it. so, basically, open the ftf files using 7zip or anything. then delete the file that has the same name as the ftf file itself. close the 'open archive' then voila working ftf file. then just follow the guide on using flashtool to flash. , learn it from many guys. And my utmost gratitude to the ppl who hlp.

Its already a diff discussion. Lol So it dont matter. If we cant flash this .ftf then just move on with a diff .ftf. No biggie.
The decrypt function in flashtool uses the temporary files that the official sony ericcson update tool creates in the background when upgrading your device. From these files flashtool extracts data and partition info etc... and generates the .sin files.
The bundle function then collects these files and creates a single .ftf file. So, I flashed the UK 2.3.3 and then relocked my bootloader (se update tool will not work with an unlocked bootloader). I then ran the sony update tool and let it download the latest 2.3.4 firmware and saved the files to another location.
Opened flashtool, ran the decrypt function using the folder I saved the se files to then the bundle function to create the ftf. I was able to successfully flash the new ftf file without issues. Anyway, probably a flashtool tutorial around somewhere.
i am using z1f, SO-02F. I bought it from japan, it run 4.2.2 14.1.H.1.281 and now i want to root it without unlock bootloader to use Titanium backup and delete many docomo app. i dont want to install d5503 4.3 rom because it is many bugs. Thanks everyone

Hi! Just follow this guide... But start with step #10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642081
The first root from this device started with the jap version so you guys should find it easier to root than the global variant.

Ohh btw if you do that rooting method please do take note that after the procedure you would end up having a generic ROM and not the docomo ROM.

Can i flash the docomo ROM replace generic rom in the final step
Gửi từ SO-02F của tôi bằng cách sử dụng Tapatalk
You would need to create a ROM dump then... The final step is flashing the file z1c-43-uk.system.flashable.zip in recovery which contains a UK generic ROM. Now what you need to do if you want a docomo version is
1. Download flashtool
2. Extract system.sin in ftf file of docomo
3. Extract ext4 image from system.sin using flashtool
4. Extract the contents of system.ext4 and replace the ones in the z1c-43-uk.system.flashable.zip
then flash the zip file you just modified. You should then get a rooted docomo ROM. Kinda hard to do if you don't know how but that's the only way for now sorry I could probably create one for you but that would be after a couple of days as I'm pretty busy this week.

Ok here's a little more easier guide for you....
1. Download Docomo ftf
2. Extract the ftf using winrar, 7zip, winzip or any archiving tool.(I suggest 7zip though)
3. Get the system.sin
4. Open flashtool. http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
5. Navigate to Tools->Sin Editor
6. Select system.sin
7. Select Extract Data button
8. Flashtool should dump system.ext4 image
9. Download this application http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/
10. Open application and open system.ext4
11. It upon opening it should show system files.
12. Extract everything and put it inside z1c-43-uk.system.flashable.zip
Special note: z1c-43-uk.system.flashable.zip has a tgz archive inside. You need to put all the system files you extracted inside the tgz file for it to work.
13. Flash your modified sz1c-43-uk.system.flashable.zip thru recovery
14. Done.

If you do that in Windows then you lose all the file permissions information. I do not think it is really a good idea. It is much more reliable to mount the ext4 image in Linux with options "-o loop,ro" and then create the system.tgz natively using tar in Linux.
I have done that myself (with 142 DE-T ftf) and it worked just fine at first try.

Hi Riyal, I have tried to read all comment here and the link provided but m still confused on how to root Xperia Z1 f
which ".ta" files should I include or exclude while creating a ftf firmware file?
hey everyone
As I mentioned above , while I'm preparing to create ftf file to flash I've found many ".ta" files as pictures shows below which I read before that I should ignore them .
so can anyone make it clear for me guys ?
Thanks.
Follow the link
www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/16/create-your-own-ftf-firmware-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide
i knew this tutorial , and they only had 2 ".ta" files ,unlike my firmware here which has more then 2, thats why i'm asking .
The only one I do not flash is the simlock.
