How you did that? I've got the same problem
To enter in stock recovery you must press both volume buttons (if you are on Froyo) or the right lower corner of the screen (if you are on Eclair) when the Android with the exclamation mark appears.
If screen show droid and exclamation mark, you must pressing the Volume button twice to enter Stock recovery menu
use Volume up / down to select and then press the Power button to execute the selected command.

wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache partition and reboot
After that, access bootloader and flash a new (2.2.2) sbf

Hello devs,
my HTC Desire Z broke over night.
The phone still works, boots and runs as expected, but the Screen is dead, although the Touchscreen is still working (PatternUnlock working and so on).
I want to send it in for warranty repair, but I still have flashed Clockwork Recovery with S-OFFand Cyanogen 9 RC1 and root.
That's the reason why I want to flash the original image PC10IMG via fastboot.
How can I access the bootloader and boot into fastboot?
I tried:
Volume Down and waiting long enough (~45s) and then pressed Power to access Fastboot, but it doesn't work.
(I think the clockwork menu is presented instead of the android bootloader menu, which I don't know by minds).
Debug mode is off on the phone, so "adb reboot fastboot" does not work
Can someone with a Desire Z and Clockwork Recovery flashed give an step-by-step instruction how to boot into fastboot if your screen is dead?
Thank you in advance.

That's what I tried already, but sadly it doesn't work due to Clockwork Recovery I think.
My device reboots when I press power after one minute, which makes sense if this screenshot represents my menu.

In the ClockworkMod in this screenshot is fastboot not listed and I couldn't find a screenshot of the advanced menu nor the complete menu structure where fastboot was listed.
I'm using the most recent version of Clockwork Rom Manager and Recovery Image
Should be 5.0.2.7 I think.
You don't need to use recovery at all with my guide.
You can go straight to fastboot mode, from powered down, by holding the Trackpad while powering on, then you can use your computer to talk to it and send a rom to flash.

Thank you very much I didn't knew the Trackpad shortcut and didn't find / oversee it in your guide.
That was the one I needed.
You made my day!
:fingers-crossed:
Yeah I don't think I mentioned it in my guide, as the guide is also written for Ace/Glacier, which don't have trackpads.
I'm glad you managed to get it sorted

I have ZE55ML 4gb version. Ok so, tried manually applying an ota update to my phone, i renamed it to MOFD_SUPDATE or whatever its supposed to be. I did not unroot or anything. It didnt work i got the error error executing updater binary in zip. So then I wiped my cach/dalvik, data, and system like a moron reboot into recovery and tried the update again... well it failed again... so I tried to just reboot my phone and now its stuck on the damn ASUS powered by android screen... I can turn it off by holding the power button and turn it on the same way and it will be stuck there. I would have been able to fix this by myself but I cant boot into bootloader/recovery. Power+volume up doesnt do and neither does Power+volume down.... So what do I do am I just ****ed?

Hold power for about 10+ seconds and it will turn off.
Go to Original Android Developement and then find pre-rooted rom. The latest for the 551ML is 2.20.40.90, put the phone in bootloader mode and install the system.img file using fastboot.
Next time unroot...
Lol....
Trying to upgrade my HTC M9 (T-Mobile) with a ROM RUU_HIMA_UL_L51_SENSE70_TMUS_MR_TMOUS_2.11.531.19.exe (2.3GB), it reached 75% and the upgrade failed.
Now turning on the phone freezes in the HTC logo.
Trying to get "recovery mode" hangs showing me a red exclamation mark.

Got Recovery Mode
After "Exclamation Mark" Once there, hold the power button and tap the up vol button and I have all of my Recovery mode options.
In Recovery Mode made "Wipe Cache Partition" and "Factory Reset".
After reboot still hang in HTC Logo.
Can I upgrede (or fix) from SD Card. Can you tell me how?
regards
About the SD card method, you first need to rename the "RUU zip" file, (make sure RUU is not in exe format), to 0PJAIMG.zip, place it on an SD card that's formatted in FAT32, reboot to download mode and press volume up to begin flashing. But before you proceed with this method, make sure your CID and MID match with those of the RUU you are trying to flash. Hope it helped.
Edit: Alternatively, just run the RUU exe you already have. When it has finished extracting and asks to proceed by clicking "Next", do not click "Next".
Instead, hold Windows Key and then press r (to launch run) and type in %temp% and press Enter. You'll see a lot of files. Just right click and sort by "Date Modified". Locate the latest folder created, in this case it might be the first one. Open the folder, press CTRL+F and type in rom.zip. Copy rom.zip and paste it somewhere (Desktop for example). This zip file is what you need. Rename it to 0PJAIMG.zip, place it on an SD card that's formatted in FAT32, reboot to download mode and press volume up to begin flashing.
I wanted to downgrade to 5.0 to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery and ROM. Used the official FW from the Asus page, installed it from within the OS (android MM stock). It all went as expected until at the end of the install it rebooted and got into the bootloader screen instead of booting normally. It won't go into recovery.
Phone will NOT turn on with power button + volume down button, not ever.
Power button + volume up does nothing, it turns the phone on just like the power button alone would do.
Once in the stock bootloader if I select [recovery mode] it will simply reset and go back to where I was. I never get the dead android error, it just go back to the bootloader select menu
I get this screen

What can I do? all the tutorials I seen either asume I can get into recovery or use power button + volume down button which in my case doesn't works
Find images of system, ifwi, recovery etc. and fastboot flash them. you can try first with recovery only. the adb command will be "fastboot flash recovery recovery.
img" just search the forum plenty of guides here

I looked at the guides, most require recovery on the phone to work (it doesnt here, just reboots back into the bootloader) and for some reason adb can't find this phone, tried on 2 different computers
BTW I tried with another android phone and adb worked just fine
How is it possible no computer can even tell this phone is connected at all?
For those who want keep the erecovery as a fail-safe.
Fully functional on our device except for OTA updates (logical).
If you enter Recovery from TWRP or through the extended reboot menu, it is almost the same as on our EMUI 9.
But if you enter with the Volume Up + Power buttons, then an additional menu will appear from which you can enter other modes:
- Updating via dload method
- Updating from a computer via USB
- eRecovery mode
So you can enter eRecovery even though TWRP is installed on it , that could be very useful.
It works on stock recovery as well as on magisk-patched recovery.
( How to enter magisk-patched Recovery:
Boot into Recovery, when the yellow warning appears on the screen, press and hold Volume Up for ~ 2 sec,
release the button and immediately press and hold again for ~ 2 sec. Repeat it 6-7 times, the device will reboot into Stock Recovery ).
