The "Straight Talk" Function not working anymore
I have checked all the setting and make sure the function is enabled. I have also tried to hard reset the device and the "Straight Talk" Function works fine again, after I installed the top bar, Bluetooth tweak etc... the "Straight Talk" Function not working anymore.
Any idea how to solve this? Anyone having the same problem?
Thanks a lot
Other than the obvious: hard reset AND install those tweaks one by one to see which one breaks the Straight Talk feature, no ideas.
On a related note, it would be nice to start a HTC TP2 thread here, where people would list their tweaks AND what things those tweaks break.
That would save a lot of duplicate debugging efforts by readers here.
We could just share in one place what tweaks work and which ones break the phone's features.
I think reading somewhere here said that use Bluetooth tweak will disable speaker function. try with out BT tweak and then try after apply it to see if it is the case for you.
Gyrator 2 + Straight Talk = Fail
If you install Gyrator 2, its default setting is to hang-up calls when you turn the phone on its face. Be sure to disable the event 'Hang Up (Phone)', which nearly caught me out.

Is the G-Sensor Calibrated?
Is the surface perfectly flat? It doesn't work on my leg, but does on my desk
Dave
What Dave says, then if it still doesn't work:
Go to Phone Settings - scroll right to Advanced tab.
Tick 'Turn speaker on when device is placed face down during a call'.
If it's already ticked, untick and tick again, then reboot.
Also, as a side note, if you update your thread when you've solved it, that will help others who get the same problem in the future.
it doesn't work on my desk......and am sure it's activated from phone advance setting....
and regarding G-sensor.....it works perfectly!!!
Thanks for the heads up brynweb.

Incoming Call Ringtone Flip to Mute and Hold to Silence
My friend has been showing me the so called Flip to Mute and Hold to Silence features of his New HTC phone which he has purchased recently. He was quite exaggerating on the fact that his phone had those features while my Galaxy S lacked them. So, I started working on a port for the same and finally managed to integrate them into the stock Dialer.
Flip to Mute
When you are receving a call, you could simply MUTE the call Ringtone by flipping the phone with the screen facing the table surface.
Hold to Silence
When you receive a call, if you hold the phone in your hand with the screen angled towards your face, the Ringtone volume decreases until you lift the call.
Note: I have configured the sensor settings to be effective only when the phone is resting on a flat surface with the screen upwards. I have found that this type of configuration is required to prevent issues with phone going mute accidentally when its in your pocket and you receive a call. Unfortunately, I don't receive many calls to practically test it for accuracy. Hope it serves the purpose.
Installation Instructions
Download the attached file and flash with CWM3.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!
This is just a MOD which is intended to work properly, but there might be chances of the MOD misbehaving. I am totally not responsible if a girl next door calls you up and you get a Force close on the Phone app. There might be some issues, hence install it only if you know how to rollback in case of any issues. Post them in the forum so that I could look into them. A logcat would be usefull.

The Phone.apk is based on JVQ release and it is based on the stock APK. There are no additional mods like disable increasing ringtone or fixing the FC with this app after a phone call.
Versions for the other firmwares will be released soon.
Sensor Usage
You might notice some Sensor Usage for Phone app. This is quite normal because the Sensors are used to check the Orientation of the phone. This would last only for the duration of the Call Ring. I have checked to see if the sensors are being stopped and It seems to work fine. Let me know if there are any issues, because if there is any issue with the sensors, it might lead to a battery drain.
You are free to use my work but please give me a Credit, Hit the Thanks Button and also consider a donation.

It's working great when someone calls you. But there is one issue. After a call I get a FC with a phone.app... :/ Didn't happen to me before.

Does it happen for all the calls? I have rechecked with a call and everything seems to be find on my device. I am unable to replicate any such FC.
It happened once, after I called one of my friends. I'll keep you informed if anything like this happens again.
To avoid FC, please, use Phone.apk from 2.3.3 ROM, not from 2.3.4
great concept! amazing one!
tested it on few calls with phone at different positions, no problems whatsoever
donate this guy so he will not stop to develop!

"flipping" brilliant!
you are the man!
great work!
thank you for this
Wonderfull ! Great work dhiru !
Can this be used on JVP deox ROMs?
Hey Dhiru,
I noticed the sources only hold 2 smali files. Is it enough to just replace them in a decompiled phone.apk ?
Yes, 2 files are enough.
Super great. I love it. I just replaced the phone.apk with root explorer, done.
works great also as a tri-mod with landscape and non increasing ringtone mod =) no problems whatsoever
this is one of best mods ive seen - usefulness 696%

Superb just what I was looking for, had the mute feature on my omnia surprised it wasn't included on the galaxy as stock.well done has anybody tried this on deodexed jvp yet?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
If i leave the phone upside down after turning when i get a phonecall, does it stay silent ?
Otherwise i need to pick it up again and turn it again when someone calls me again.
This mod mutes the Ringer volume. It doesn't switch the phone to Silent mode. So, even if it is upside down, it rings. You need to place the phone on a surface with the screen facing the top.
I could mod it in such a way that it always stays silent when its turned upside down. I thought of this already, but I need to keep the sensors active all the while which would drain battery.
could it deactivate sensor right after you flip the phone to make first call silent and activate it on next call to check if it is still upside down?
REDIAL ME - CALL PEOPLE BACK THROUGH A SIMPLE DIALOG
A useful application that will call people back if the line is busy or gets disconnected at the other end.
Easily interact with calls though a pop-up dialog, or enable the speakerphone when a redialed number connects!
The root functionality ensures everything works reliably.

Working perfectly for me. Also tried on Desire S, fine there too.
Tried demo. Works fine on stock rom with CF-Root...
Great, so why is it not seeing any action?
i9300 4.1.2 rooted stock ROM, howevever frozen/uninstalled many system apps.
Currently have app Silent Hours which successfully allows calls through while it has activated mute.
I however want an app which can perform a quick mute, preferably with widget on home screen, while still allowing customized numbers through. Silent hours does have a quick mute function, but it does not allow calls through with this function. So at the moment I have to go into silent hours, choose start time and and end time, what day, then I get what i want. It's just too tedious. Plus I'd like to customize what numbers to let through; it can only allow all calls.
I started looking around and tried some apps, but none of them unmutes when call is made to a S3 it seems:
Mute-o-matic is very fancy with all the features I want, mailed dev, no response.
What I tried:
Custom event in mute o matic, set time from one minute from now and waited for mute. Then made call from number on exceptions list (tried two different cell phones), call is coming through but no sound. Auto-sms reply works.
Calendar event. Again, no ringtone but SMS is working.
Restarted app, restarted phone
Closed all other apps, clearing memory, closing all active services.
Frozen all other similar mute apps.
Custom level to 6
I tried all other relevant apps I could find on play store; all of them failed in unmuting.
I just now gave play another go. Searched all free apps for "Mute", and tried all app with required features.
Mute 'N caller - fails to unmute.
RD Mute - can't put in mute mode via the triggers
perhaps the reason is one of the system apps I removed or my ROM being screwed up some other way, since the apps lists S3 as tested and working. I would however before flashing appreciate if some of you could tell me an app that is working for you!
edit:
Tried out even more apps.
RD Mute - can't put in mute mode via the triggers
Doesn't work at all:
VIP calls https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vision.vipcallseng&hl=sv
mute n call
Selective Silence, neither in silent mode or vibrate https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noshufou.selectivesilence&feature=search_result
Settings profile
Followed instructions from http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...pp-lets-you-only-have-certain-calls-ring.html
If post 9 then then phone rings irrespective of number being allowed or not
If post 13 phone does not ring if allowed number, neither in vibration or silent mode.
Partially works:
Auto ring, only if set to vibrate - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.auto.ring&hl=sv
Fully works:
Call filter alarm https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.pezzin.callfilteralarm.free - However it does not have that many options.
Guess I'll use touchwiz blocking mode in the mean time. It's easy to manually trigger, but does not have SMS-text reply and can only be automated on/off between a certain time, which is the same for all days. But I can use silent hours or call filter alarm for that.

Check this app out:
Call Master: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
Call Master Pro Key: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist.key
Been using that for many years now and it's the best call block app out there but it cost money and it's worth it. But you need root on the phone to use it.
And that is the best way to get rid of that annoying callcenter sellers and other idiots that calling you everyday

From the description it doesn't look like this app will make my phone ring if I have it in vibrate/silent mode. I need everything, mail, chat, other notifcations etc, to be silent. The only way the phone should make noise is if alarm goes off or number on whitelist is calling.
edit: just tried it out, naturally it did not unmute. Installed call master -> gave root permission -> new profile -> create new list -> added exception for number -> actions -> added action Filter calls & SMS -> allow.
Since proximity sensor on F3 is fairly useless/non stable on calls I compiled the [A11/A12] AOSP dialer with proximity checkbox. Install via Magisk.
Set dialer as default phone app (reboot) and check proximity ON (so proximity doesn't work anymore...)
In call :
you can either use your powerbutton or double tap on statusbar to dim screen.
or you can use a small macro add-on I made - Call_AutoScreen_On-Off_(F3) - which auto dims screen when call is started and auto lights up the screen when call is ended. How to :
install MacroDroid
import the unzipped macro
give permissions where needed (reboot/don't forget to nuke proximity in dialer ofc).
thx @anuppoudel for testing as well
Added A12 AOSP Dialer
Thank you @raystef66 for providing such a useful solution, most needed
Since I got the F3, I've gotten used to just manually locking the screen before I put the phone to my ear. So, what advantage do I get from using your modified app?
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your work! I'm just curious...

Ok, thanks...
1. The screen is locked with the app, but I have to manually dim the screen by pressing the power button? Hmm...
2. When the call starts I have to switch loudspeaker on and off again before I actually can hear the one who's calling (or the one I am calling resp.) over the earpiece (is there any solution for this bug out there? or has it even been solved and I'm still doing it out of habit? ).
Unfortunately, it seems that this mod would make the whole dumb workaround procedure even more frustrating (for me)

Point of this all is to nuke proximity sensor (more stability during calls) and let the macro do the job of auto dimming the screen when call gets active and waking it up when call's done. No more no less. So no more pressing the powerbutton or whatever.
Even with the macro running during call you can easily dt2w or press power button to wake screen. Dim it again by pressing the powerbutton again (or double tap statusbar). But how many times does that happen? Not much for me.
For you it does apparently because you have to press loudspeaker. Well you can as you did before on the other dialer you had. Only thing now is that proximity is disabled as well. So more stability.
In the past even with just pressing the power button I had wake-ups during calls. Proximity is unstable so therefore diabling it is the logic solution (for me).
As mentioned above, it's up to others to use it or not.
PS : in macro you can easily add some time to it before screen auto-dims so you have time enough to tap your loudspeaker. Or even add a speakerphone task. Up to you.

Unfortunately, the problem with the proximity sensor is extremely unsatisfactory - a feature that always worked reliably since my first smartphone was mightily screwed up by Xiaomi. I guess everyone who makes several calls per day is annoyed by the behavior and is looking for solutions. Therefore, it is of course highly gratifying if among the annoyed users there are also a few developers who can program solutions.
My frustration with the proximity sensor was not meant to blame the dev for not bringing a solution that works for me - the criticism is solely for Xiaomi. As I said, I appreciate the developer's work! Therefore, sorry if my post came across with a bad mood... I'm glad that the workaround app offered by the dev helps many users
@raystef66
Thank you for your answer! Earlier I was still unsure, now I know: the loudspeaker on/off "game" isn't over on my device - I just tested it. For an outgoing call, I have to deactivate the loudspeaker only after the ring tone, otherwise the earpiece remains silent. Unfortunately, this ring tone sometimes starts after 1 second, sometimes after 5 seconds - and sometimes without waiting time the call starts immediately. So, I don't think it's possible to create a universal solution with a macro.
The thing that works for me, on the other hand, is that the phone stays locked until I unlock it (lucky me! ). Initially, this accidently wake-up also happened to me, because I came to the fingerprint sensor with the index finger or thumb - but here I have now also re-educated myself
Anyway, thanks for not resigning yourself to the status quo and continuing to look for solutions!

Apologies if this is off topic but this thread will likely attract the right eyes.. Dialing hasnt been my big problem yet..
How do you deal with pocket wake up ?? Face unlock (maybe tap to wake ??) the position of the fingerprint reader mean this thing is constantly awake and pin lock failing in my pockets.. Driving me crazy.
EDIT :::
Testing it (pixel experience plus) my phone never senses, in any orientation.. Others report some form of sensing.
Upright.. hand to phone.. hand over phone.. I am not getting anything.
It wakes on movement.. It wakes to attempt face unlock (I guess).. It wakes on screen touch,, it never overrides that despite there being an option to prevent accidental wake up (which has no noticeable effect). I dont see what combo of settings may be correct here.
Its currently flat out unusable.. Its a mobile phone which you cannot put in your pocket and which wakes as you carry it. People cant be just accepting this...

I second this. I like having call recording when I call automated robot calls than I don't need to pay a attention and if I miss something I can relisten to it without a problem or with headphones if it was to quiet. It also works to set people up but in my state it's illegal to record someone who doesn't know their being recorder. So you would just be getting yourself in trouble to.
