[Q] UK DHD in Canada on Telus - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I got a sim free DHD from the UK back in December and have now moved to Canada. I just got a telus sim for it and it is showing no service! Any ideas whats going on?

Well i've updated the radio to the latest Telus one and the one from Jan which is the same as on my wifes brand new Telus DHD and still getting limited service!

I've gone into network settings and the only network operator it can find is Rogers which isn't much help. Any further thoughts? I was wondering if it was a rom problem but I'm not sure if I can flash a Telus based rom or not.

Where are you located?
But I think I have the answer for you...
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 1900 - North America
Telus does not use the 900/2100 so you can only get 2g I am afraid

I'm not up on which carrier uses which frequencies, maybe someone can comment? According to GSMArena, the i927 utilizes the following frequencies:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
I'd say that makes it a definite 'no' on the 4g...

So I know that we only get HSPA+ but at&t has 4g lte is it possible for this phone to get that signal by rooting it anyone heard anything about this or is this impossible

As far as I know, nope. The Tegra 2 doesn't support it.
If I were to unlock this phone could I get 4g speeds from a diffrent network?

UK HTC desire HD work in USA on pay as you go 3g data

I plan on getting a pay as you go sim card when i go to the states but I'm reading conflicting info regarding if my uk desire HD will work in USA on 3g data as different frequency.
Although apparently some carriers in USA use same as UK frequency for 3g data.
Can anyone clear this up?
Thanks in advance

We use band 1900 in the states. Europe uses 2100. I do not think you will get anything other than edge.

Tmo uses 1700/2100 for 3g, but both must be supported for it to work. They are also ref arming their 1900mhz for 3g but the euro dhd doesn't have the bands for it. Only 2g

N7105 lte work for canada rogers or bell?

You will get HSDPA but no LTE.
Rogers and Bell LTE operates on 1700/2100 MHz AWS and N7105 has 700/2100 MHz radio.

Thats where its confusing...online on rogers site they say lte is running 2100 and 2600 and since the n7105 runs 700 and 2100 then I can get lte right? Are you sure that rogers and bell are running lte at 1700 2100? And also if n7105 has 2100 then it should be able to run lte.

It will work but not well in areas of low coverage or inside buildings. Normally the phone will switch bands depending on the situation to get the best signal. But if your phone has only 1 of the 2 bands available, it will not be able to choose optimally the best band so performance will suffer unless you are right under the cell tower.

Lg optimus g international version?

hey guys was wondering if their is a international version of this phone? i know there is a korean version but i heard the korean version doesnt have the radio frequencies to pick h+ or 3g here in USA att or tmo.. i think i read it on engadget
The E973 is pentaband and will pickup almost all 3G frequencies anywhere, including the USA. The problem is not with 3G, but rather LTE.

Ok thanks. I've been wanting to get this phone but wasnt sure and don't want to get the USA version... so u think the best bet for me is that one?
Sent from my MI 2 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah you should be fine for 3G pretty much everywhere, the E973 supports these frequencies:
3G Network UMTS/HSPA 850 / 900 / 1800/ 1900/ 2100
4G Network AWS 700 / 1700
