hello guys, every time i send a text message i cant see the person's photo on the sms app even tho they have one assigned when i go to the people's app any ideas?
Hey guys,
Ive got a small irrite with my desire, if I recieve a Text message from my voice mail client, it will display the number of the caller who left the message, but will not refer to the name of the caller if the number is stored in my phone book.
Does anyone know how to do a work around for this or is there an app outthere that I just cant find?
I had this, too. For me a reboot solved the problem.
The names have never shown up...
It looks like the android system does not reference known numbers as the name stored in the phone book.
Ie.
You have 1 new voice message.
The last message was received
from +27xxxxxxxxxx
If my SE P1i knew the number it would show the name of the contact, not the number.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Well it will either include the number in the message or show it as coming from that number(mine does both).
If your voice mail does the latter, it will of course show up with the right name. If the number is just included in the message, however, it will not look it up for you.
There is a workaround, as chompsms recently added this feature to swap phone numbers in messages, if you have the name stored in you phonebook And it is working perfectly from here.
Thanks Mortenmph...
but do i have to change my sms app entirely, or does it intergate with htc's message apk?
When the name not shown then set the permission with adb-shell:
adb shell chmod 666 /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/files/*
Thanks Michael,
All I have in that folder is the Facebook contact images, ??? - will I get the same effect as I did running chompsms?
Followed your advice, but nothing has changed....
Anybody able to help here???
Yes you will have to update the messaging app or make htc add the functionality to theirs...
It's all about how the app is programmed to show the text message, HTC's app shows it as is without looking at the content, and chomp search for numbers and replace them. You should be fine with chomp though it's got some vwery decent features over the original one.
I don't understand but sometimes the Contact Names decided to appear and other times they don't. Like take for example my friend Curt, he sent me an SMS but the name didn't come up, only his number starting in +44, then about an hour later his name mysteriously appeared again. In the Call Log this is also happening where number are shown but not the name.
Could this be somehow to do with the phone not recognizing number starting in '0' and '+44' because I think all the contacts I have on my WhatsApp, this does not happen with them and that's because WhatsApp saves them as +44.
I can't really go through and change all my contacts numbers to +44 but that might not even be the issue. Does someone have a clue. Any help would be MUCH appreciated as often I don't even know who it is that called me or texted me.
Thanks.
Faz.
Ok So My Major Problem In Sense Is The Contacts. After using the phone for a day or two my contact name doesnt appear in messages, just the number appears but when i go to people the name of the contact appears. so What must Be The problem when contact number appear instead of their names?
ps its fixed after a reboot but will come again after
This is a known issue, nothing you can really do. Other have suggested using a 3rd party messaging app like gosms. So you can try that if you want
Anyone having an issue with the dialer not displaying contact picture when receiving a call? It just displays a blue screen with the person's number.
The picture displays in contacts and displays when calling a person. The picture icon is just a small circle when dialing out (which sucks) but receiving calls displays nothing.
Have you tried deleting the app data of Contacts and/or phone app?
Don't have that problem but maybe this helps. For Contacts as it's synced with Google there's no worries but you might redo the settings for the phone app after deleting data.
