[Q] Moderators and Administrators - About xda-developers.com

Is there a current list for the Administrators and Moderators? I would like to find out who I can contact so that I may learn the steps to become a moderator. If there is any way possible to date.

Have a look on my signature link to get the Mod & Admin list
For the time being Mod applications are closed but you can follow it´s status over there
The report process is being under revision and soon we should have an easier way to report.

Thank you very much for the quick and helpful reply, sir.

Actually had the same thought. I asked one of the Forum Admins, but I guess I'll just have to stand in line for a position on the team.

Yeah. Hopefully they open up the positions up again. There are plenty of devices that don't have specific moderators.

Why was my thread deleted

I posted a new thread earlier asking advice on how to get my money back from some criminally acting devs of the game app "Bakery Story " and my thread was removed, why are mods encouraging criminal behavior or are they in league with these app devs and doesn't want people to know the truth about these loopholes. Also this is general section and I see a lot of questions being asked here, on a last note isn't xda about enlightenment and education to the users? .

Perhaps you presented your inquiries in a slanderous manner, based on your approach this time around Id bet that that was the case. Xda is a developers community and without proof or first addressing the developer, attacking them is really no way to initially present yourself.

Believe me in no way would I have posted without trying every possible methods of retrieving my money .

Well, what exactly occurred? I know you explained it once but some of the mods have a rather cavalier attitude and it sounds as though it's be suitable for this section.

Please contact via PM to the Moderator who apparently deleted your thread, sure there will be a reason.
nerogold, you currently have 2 threads, one in off-topic and one in the thunderbold section.
I can't see that either of these were ever deleted.

Would it be possible to port a function?

Was wondering if the xda app could have the same scroll up to refresh function just like the Facebook app?

the general forum of the e4gt is definitely the most visible place for a request that would be handled by the creator of the app.
Yes it is possible. I've actually seen the source code before for the function but never needed to use it.

I placed it here for a reason. Besides, more or less it doesn't change anyone, kill anyone, or damage anything. Be glad i didn't make it a development post.
I asked in our community so that if it IS possible. Someone here could obtain the credit for a utterly simple yet very very nice feature I'm pretty sure people are starting to get used too. Maybe it could even try to get pushed to many other apps.

No neeed for hostility he's just advising that this would get a better view in the Genral section.
Just get the credit yourself and look up the code to post it.

Tidying-up/over-hauling the stickies etc

Over the next few days, I'm going to do a bit of tidying up in the various Defy sections.
The first part of that involves a new sticky in each section clearly stating what that section is for, what threads are or are not appropriate (ie no questions in the Dev section).
Hopefully this'll help cut down on the number of threads that need moving.
The proposed second part I would like some feedback on...
The act of stickying certain threads/guides/etc I've always found a little hit-and-miss and can inadvertently lead to unintended favouritism, not to mention you can eventually end up with a ridiculous number of threads stickied.
So the idea I had was that in the General and Dev sections (the two that currently have stickied threads), those threads would be un-stickied and replaced with a roll-up thread - kinda like this except there would be no other threads stickied along with it (other than the one mentioned in the first part that would explain the purpose of the section).
It's just a way of trying to keep the section as tidy as possible, though it's not the messiest, which is why I'm not 100% set on going ahead and would prefer to hear what people think.
A little clean up is a good idea.
I'm for a main roll-up thread in every section, that way the useful guides/infos will be easier to find/edit.

Seems good. I myself have two popular guides in the general section you can't have missed (soft-sim unlock and double boot). How will the roll-up thread work exactly?

Best thing for now is to report the thread for maintance/moving that's what i have been doing with the dev section
Thanks again Step666 for cleaning up the ones i reported...... +1 on the rollup thread thread it makes things a lot easier for new users as they can find everything in one thread.
support the idea fully (both), but have to ask for something: to always keep that one stickied thread up-to-date, otherwise it has no sense. and the thread you linked didnt mention the 'all-in-one defy beginners guide' which i find very useful for everybody, so i think that should be involved too. and thanks for looking after the defy section, it did get quite messy over the last few weeks, months.

Is it possible to have two xda members governing one same thread? It would be best to keep a thread up to date if two people where allowed to edit the OP. Could it be possible?

It would list all the current guides that are to be found in our Defy forums at the moment
Voted for the roll-up thread. What suggestions could we have about it? Like, which threads should be included?
I hate it when someone quotes the OP's post after 20-30 pages only to ask a question whose answer was in the previously 20-30 unread pages. Also, when someone quotes a really LONG post only to add a short answer/joke/offtopic question or a smiley and an encouragement.

Similar to the one I linked-to, with a series of links to useful guides etc - except I'd probably go a step further and include a short description of what each thread contained.
There'd be one in this section and one in the Dev section.

I agree.
And that's where I'd need your help - whilst I own a Defy my primary handset now is my Galaxy Nexus, so I'm just not as clued up on things here as the rest of you.
So whilst I'd do my best to keep it updated, if there was a thread you felt was missing from the roll-up, then you'd be best to PM me and I could add it.

Unfortunately, there's no way to force people to pay attention/follow the rules/behave like vaguely-competent individuals.
So all we can do is react to people who have posted in the wrong section.

No, unfortunately the forum software doesn't allow for that.
I guess an alternative would be to have the 'roll-up' lists in the Defy Wiki where anyone can edit them and I would just have a link to them from the one sticky in each section.

[REQ] Touchwiz style Lockscreen notifications

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good app or mod which imitates the Touchwiz lockscreen notifications for text messages and email.
I seem to remember it being a large red envelope on Touchwiz.
Would anyone be willing or able to port these from the stock samsung build?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm not the forum police, but I do not think they were created "accidently"
And may I ask what is the reason for people like you, who support "spammers" instead of saying something like this
[Perfect post] "I don't think he made it to spam, but to the you: Can you please don't start another thread if your first one didn't get answered?" [/Perfect post]

Stop arguing and please stay ontopic for OP's sake. You can see he has only 3 posts...
As far as ontopic goes: I would really love to see my Whatsapp and Facebook notifications on Sammy lockscreen, in the ring(just like messages).
I don't want an argument, all I'm saying is the both threads were posted on the same date word for word so the chances are they got posted at the same time by accident.I dont support spam either, I just think that some people on xda are really arrogant. A double thread doesn't really affect any one either.

Thread deleted without explanation or reason.

My recent thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31770295 was deleted without explination from the 'moderator'.
My thread was regarding FREE Widgets made by the xda community for Chameleon Launcher and there was nothing commercial about it.
Explanation please.
Wel as the thread was deleted onky the mod that did it would know.
Perhaps you posted in the wrong section?
Or it wasnt your work to post?

Yep, no reply.
I've restored it, looks like there was confusion over it being a paid app.
Xda operates to a 24 hour best effort response though. Have 24 hours or so elapsed since sending the message?
The link in the OP of the thread is for the paid version, there is a free version but that is not in the OP.

Are you referring to the launcher itself? (can't tell as it's not compatible with my device)
The op wants a thread for widgets for said launcher, not the app itself.

Hmm, that's not really the point though, is it? If the xda moderator was doing his (admittedly difficult at some times) job properly, it wouldn't have been incorrectly closed in the first place...

Mods will sometimes make mistakes, you admit it's hard at times. Pulsar restored the thread with the quickness so no real harm done.
Not only that, it does say that threads will be moved/deleted without notice.... not saying yours should've been, just saying that the mods don't have to notify the op when moving/closing a thread.................

Ideally the mod who deleted it should PM you explaining why. We do work hard to keep everything in order, buut with 4.6Mn users and 2Mn threads, something is bound to be overlooked.. just bad luck
But as I see it has not been sorted Thread closed.
