Is there a setting Im not seeing that allows emails to actually be deleted and not just from my phone?
My continuum would do it but when I delete emails on my Incredible then go to my email on my computer the emails are still there. I would like to have it so when I delete on my phone they are gone permanently. Thanks
btw... phone is fully stock
If your using the HTC mail client, delete the account and then recreate it: Mail>Other>Manual Setup>under "Protocol" select "Imap." What you are describing sounds like you set your email as "POP."
Thanks! that worked, just didnt know exactly what to search for. All my searches ended up just being same question as mine with no answers.
for anyone else searching for this, this is how its set up...

so I have deleted my email accounts, both of them but manilla still shows one of them. When I click on it from the manilla tab, it does not do anything. I can flip thru them as if they are still there but I can not open the email like normal. Windows knows that it has been deleted but manilla still thinks it is there.
Anyone know of a way I can delete it?
Thanks,
Jeff
If you're not going to have email accounts on your device, then why not just remove the Mail tab altogether?

I want email, I have two email accounts, but with this phantom, which happens to be a copy of my work email, it shows three.
When Make the new account called "work" it it says that I already have an account named work and I have to name it something else.
When I look at the accounts in windows mobile, there only shows two. Manilla is convinced that there are three.
I have tried to search the registry to delete all things named my work email once I deleted both my accounts but it is still there.
Anyone have any ideas?
THanks,
Jeff
Does anyone have any ideas about this? I am sure that a hard reset would do it but the issue is not worth that, I would rather just find a fix for it.
thanks all,
Jeff

does disabling sense allow you to create the work e-mail?
double check all registry entries, it most likely won't be labeled work either.

I've encountered this in the past but can't remember how exactly I got rid of it. I remember I used a program such as memmaid, sktools or pocket mechanic to delete the phantom account and then just readded it. I've been checking my phone to find out how I did it but as of yet i've not found it. Will post back as soon as I do though.
Sorry I cant be much more help at the mo, but just know this issue can be fixed without a hard reset.

Thank you All!
I used the mailAccountRepair file from this thread to do the repair, then I was able to see it in the winmo email and delete it.
thanks all!!
The HTC Mail app really has a tough time sending emails, especially ones with attachments.
Are there any tutorials around about the settings, smtp, and other settings. It seems like the outgoing settings are messed up but I cant seem to figure it out.
Thanks for you help!
I'm assuming that there was a typo in the thread title. If not, You shouldn't use the HTC mail app for gmail stuff. Use the gmail app for that. As for it having trouble, I've never had trouble with it. I suggest clearing off the accounts, and re-setting them up. Don't try to get into any advanced settings; just follow the prompts to enter username/pass, and "proceed" and "next" when prompted.

The thing is, I cant send attachments via the Gmail app. Only pictures. I need to send songs(in various formats), documents, pictures, etc and I can only send these with the stock HTC Mail app. I dont like using apps from the market in place of apps i already have...just a hang up i have.
anyway, i think ive gotten it to work but im not sure how. i just kept messing around with it then i was able to send an email with a 10mb audio file attached.
hopefully whatever i did will stick...
thanks
Ive managed to set up Exchange ActiveSynt for hotmail so it finally pushes but i still dont get the option of HTML in Message Format.
Any ideas if HTC will ever sort this out?
Its not much to ask, id like to see my emails when I get sent them and how they're supposed to look. Never had this problem on my iphone.... lol.
Im on ARDH 5 btw.
Thanks, and rant over.

As far as I'm still aware, there's only a couple of paid versions in the Market.
Check out;
Moxier Mail (exchange),
Touchdown
Roadsync
I tried a few (trial), wasn't entirely happy, and went to the stock Google mail using exchange, and now Improved Email (no HTML).
Things might have changed since though.
Bump, anyone seen a fix for html yet?
Hopefully there is someone familiar with this ROM that can help me with this problem I am having. My Gmail account seems fine but with my MSN/HOTMAIL account I am having a bit of an issue. For some reason my phone keeps downloading old emails and sending me notifications. I have never had this happen before with any other ROM or any stock version of Android. I delete the notifications/emails on the phone but not on the server like I always do but the phone randomly downloads the same emails that are up to 2-3 weeks old.
Anyone have this same issue or know of a way I might be able to fix it? I was going to ask in the MIUI ROM thread but I am a new user and am not allowed to post in that section yet. Plus I am not certain it is an issue with the ROM.
Oh, I have a pretty up to date version of the rom as of about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks
Hm, have you tried deleting then re-adding the accounts you're having problems with?
Good idea. I will try that and see what happens over the next day or so. Thanks
No problem, hopefully that will work and if not, feel free to post again and we'll try to get it sorted out. I've never had that issue but maybe someone else has?
Okay, as if I didn't feel dumb before. I looked and looked and I can't figure out how to delete my MSN/Hotmail account. The only account that shows up in the accounts/sync settings is my gmail account. Any ideas?
Thanks
Sounds like it isnt deleting from server. Delete it from the website and Im sure you wont run into the issue
I don't want them to be deleted from the server and have never had this issue until using MIUI.
Go in to the email app. I have more than one account, so by default it will show my "combined inbox". You can also go to menu>accounts to show your accounts. Long press the account and select "remove account".
I already asked this question and got an answer, but I have another question. I got this answer:
It's tedious and I agree there should be a select all function but there isn't. Best way is to do it on pc side.
How do I do this? I have looked through all folders on SD card while connected to PC thru USB but can't
find where email folders or recycle bin is, and haven't found on google where desire hd stores its emails.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I miss being able to press one button to get rid of all my deleted
emails!
BTW, tried to add this question to previous thread but the forum wouldn't allow it, saying there weren't
enough words in the post or something...

If you go into email setting their an option to permanently delete emails from server when you delete from inbox. Try that out if you didnt already.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm after... I want to find out how to
empty the email recycle bin on my phone from my PC, without
having to go down the whole list of emails ticking every box...
I want to leave emails on the server...
