[Q] accidentally cleared boot from recovery... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now when the phone boots up it just goes to the bootloader screen...is there a way to fix this?

Reflash your rom, it'll just add the missing files. All your settings and Apps will still be the same.

[Q] Unable to restore Incredible to stock 2.2

After messing with a custom ROM downloaded from ROM Manager, I wanted to go back to my original stock 2.2. However, when I went to do the restore of my most recent backup (done before I flashed this most recent ROM) it tells me that the MD5 sum has a mismatch and won't do the restore.
So after doing some research, I try and do a clean restore of the stock 2.2 RUU .zip, but HBOOT tells me that the PB31IMG.zip is out of date and won't do the update.
I have no other backups on my SD card or anywhere else, and I've flashed the phone to a different ROM that was downloaded to my SD card so I at least have a functioning phone. However I want to bring it back to stock in case I have to send the phone to Verizon at some point.
Security is set to S-ON for those who need to know.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That worked! Restoring my backup now! Thank you!
Ok, after fixing the MD5 error and restoring my backup (and clearing the cache/data/etc) It shows the "HTC Incredible" screen, but then goes black and shows nothing at all. All buttons are unresponsive and a battery pull is necessary to get back into recovery.
What might be happening here?
I've been having the same exact problem. My phone is almost unusable right now after loading a 2.3 ROM onto to it just to see how it worked. I backupped my files and clear my cache before hand, but when I load into HB Boot and click recovery, the phone vibrates, displays the HTC logo, then goes to a black screen with two white bars on the sides. It is unresponsive and requires a battery pull.
I can reboot the phone and get into the 2.3 ROM, but it is slow and buggy. No android market, lots of force closes, and won't load my google account.
I assume the problem has something to do with Clockwork MOD recovery. Any ideas out there?

Actually it does sound like CMR, check the lastest unrevoked rooting thread to get the image and how to install it. This usuallly occurs with the slcd screens. If i'm wrong someone else let me know.
You can go here to get the SLCD recovery: http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...nly-see-black-screen-white-bars-recovery.html
worked liked a charm. Thanks.

Help please, need to recover but dont have a recovery tool

Hello i have a lg g3 and i recently rooted it and i was deleting bloatware and i think i accidentally deleted a system file, so i factory reset my phone thinking it'd fix it (i don't know much about this stuff) and i don't have a back up file. When i open up the boot menu there's no recovery option or flash option, i'm guessing this is because i don't have twrp or cwm? Is there anything i can do to save my phone? Also my phone is not on a black screen. When i start up my phone it goes into the setup wizard but gets stuck there because of missing files.

Installed substratum theme, phone died on reboot. Can I backup data before reset?

Long story short installed substratum and it was working fine, had a navbar theme already running and installed another one. Few hours later rebooted phone and when it booted back up systemui crashed and it went into bootlooping into that over and over again. Now it bootloops a few times and goes into a recovery menu that only gives me the options to try rebooting again or a factory data reset.
The phone boots into bootloader/fastboot just fine and I can get into recovery but the only options I have are 'try again' and 'factory data reset' I know that FDR is basically my only option and so be it. BUT IF POSSIBLE I want to try and backup the internal data or at least as much of it as possible.
So, is it possible to backup any internal data with only having access to bootloader/fastboot.
I've spent over an hour searching to this answer but either I was searching wrong or simply was not able to find the answer. Pixel XL is 100% stock. Never modded, never rooted, stock recovery, stock latest official Oreo from OTA update.
So again. Absolutely no access to the OS. Only access bootloader/fastboot and a form of the recovery menu and I would like to somehow backup the internal data. I don't care about apps or any app data, specifically just the user data if at all possible. If not well then I'm screwed and that's that.
Hello,
Happened to me also something like this. The phone rebooted and the only option were those presented to you also. But, I pressed the "Try again". If this still doesn't work, when the device is rebooting, and the white screen appears, try and hold on to the power button until the moving dots appear.
Also, this didn't wipe anything on my device.
Hope this is useful to you.

Does nothing. Just reboots back into recovery. I've tried Try Again probably 100 times and nothing ever changes. Even safe mode does not work. The SystemUI is completely dead.
I'm 90% sure there is no way to fix the phone other than factory data reset and I'm fine with that. I just want to know if I can backup anything from bootloader/fastboot before I do that.
Have you tried using ADB to boot ( not flash ) a custom recovery, and from there to backup the phone, and after if it's possible, to use the USB-OTG to copy that backup to an USB memory stick?
Looking at the Substratum FAQ in the app it says that if you experience a bootloop you should be able to flash /storage/emulated/0/substratum/SubstratumRescue.zip in recovery and it should fix the boot loop.

As Matt already mentioned, there's a rescue zip file which comes by default with substratum. It's purpose is to remove all overlays which you've currently installed.
In case you don't have a custom recovery installed you can simply boot into twrp via adb (without having flash the recovery)

What if you're bootloader locked? Is there a way to recover from a bad overlay?
You could try to flash the factory image if you've unlocked the BL, just remove the -w from the flash all script

If you have checked the option to potentially allow unlocking your bootloader in dev-settings you can use fastboot to unlock your bootloader and boot into the bootable recovery image

Weird bootloop problem

So I had a custom rom on my note 4 and then was trying to update my bootloader to marshmellow. Well I dont know why its causing a bootloop. I tried restoring back to default 5.1. flashed everything but as soon as I get into set up mode, it re boots and i cant seem to fix it....help anyone?
Have you cleared cashe memory? You should manage it from recovery mode (volUp+home+power)

I ticked everything on advanced wipe to delete. Now my phone is stuck on the bootload

I'm currently trying to root my Moto G5 but I can't seem to get a rid of the password it asks at the beginning. I wiped everything by ticking the whole lists on advanced wipe, format data then swiped to factory reset. Now my phone won't boot up normally and stays stuck on this screen. I can however use the bootloader. What can I do to fix this?

I told you in the other thread you created to NOT advanced wipe as this will not remove encryption
You have two options
1- flash stock rom firmware via fastboot
2- remove encryption and flash a custom rom
Oh and your phone obviously won't boot as you have wiped system (the rom) so there's nothing on your phone to boot!
See my reply on how to remove encryption in the other thread you created
