After a Update failure my Desire isn’t feeling to good...
I was running oxygen-2.1.6 on my Desire but decided to go back to stock. BAD choice!
Now when power on I get the black htc screen with the triangles in the corners. When I try volume down + power on I get the same black screen.
If I start the RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe again to do the same update I get ERROR [152]:IMAGE UPDATE ERROR with the option to Recover which gives me a black screen until I pull the USB connection. Then I get a fastboot lock a like screen.

Everything is fine except you can't RUU over the hboot you have as /system is too small for the Rom.
You need bravo stock. You need to either fastboot flash the downgrader from alpharev and run the RUUagain or fast boot flash a recovery img and restore a nandroid backup
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yep downgrade the hboot first from AlphaRev website then continue.
Swyped...
Ok no!! Do not flash the downgrader just yet!! Flash the stock alpharev hboot but not the downgrader, otherwise that will put you s-on when you flash the RUU and if something goes wrong you wont have s-off to help. So as I said just flash the stock hboot, restart and then try the RUU again. Sorry it feels like I'm hanging my ass over the ragged edge when I'm S-ON

Sounds great but how do I do that?
My phone is as I said not responding to vol. down + power for the bootloader or the back + power for fastboot. Black htc screen with the triangles in the corners on both cases. I can’t flash anything from my phone (that I know off) since I can’t get to the fastboot or the bootloader. How do I use the .img file from alpharev.nl? I don’t know how to run the PB99IMG from my phone as it is now.
I’ve tried to run the alpharev cd again but with no luck.

My computer recons the phone, or at least that it’s an Android 1.0 device, when I’m in windows (both win 7 and XP) so can I do anything from there?
try download Android flasher 1.8 in dev.section
after that try to flash CWM recovery 3.0.0.5 and alsom try to flash stock Hboot
all these steps via android flasher can be done
edit - you can run alpharev but only with stock rom and hboot
in other way rooted phone with custom rom wont work with alpharev, there is also recommendation on the site about stock rom in case to use alpharev boot cd
I had the same problem today and I flashed the stock hboot with android flasher 1.8 and it worked. Thanks AssassinSvK.
This did the trick! Thank you =)
I have a problem with fastboot, I can`t acces it when I hold down the volume button and the power button nothing happens rom starts normally and everything works fine except the fastboot. What caused this problem? I flashed new rom and new radio, maybe something went wrong

You cannot run ruu because the hboot version you use is protected against overwriting by ruu or ota. You have to flash bravo downgrader first.

Hey
So I have tried to run the Ruu to go back to stock (from windows). However, I am getting errors that saying it can not varify signature and other error messages that I googled which say that I am actually downgrading the software..
I took the phone to a store and they tried the "goldSD" or something, before it was downgraded... I wonder if I should take it back and get them to try again? Other than that, what are the options if ruu wont load??
Freaking out that I may need to buy a new phone..
Now i have got this problem on my legend any suggestions?
nevermind...

If not do it and install alpharev recovery as you root it and will be fine.

You cannot root with alpharev! Alpharev seets you s-off. Before alpharev can do this, you need root access. This you get by rooting your phone e.g. with unrevoked. Alpharev does not have an own recovery, it is clockworkmod.
@Umair.K:
Did you root your phone already?
So you run unrevoked then alpharev? Or only unrevoked? Because with mine i had to run untrvoked then alpha to be able to use recovery

You have partition for CM7, so any sense rom don't have enough space in /system.
Repartition your phone (look in alpharev site) as sense (default) partition. /system must be 250mb

But could you give me a guide line on how to partition my sd card like that? Because I purchased the phone from someone else, and he had done all the work himself!

You cant partition your sd like that ... you should flash STOCK HBOOT... find it at Alpha Rev pages... and there you will find diferent HBOOT's and everything will be clear for you... You partition your SD for needs of diferent ROM's but when it comes to HBOOT there is only few of them... I suggest CM7 HBOOT.. the one with 130 Mb for system, but pay attention on which ROM you flash...

Alright thats quite clear but the instructions aren't quite clear on Alpha Rev's page!
It says "If you are already S-OFF, you can get our newest patched HBOOTs from here. (without going through the entire procedure again).
Please read the entire table and pick the partition table with the correct sizes for your ROM. One easy way to switch partition tables, is to nandroid backup,
and verify that the sizes of your backup are indeed the ones listed in the table (or smaller), and restore after flashing hboot"
-So afterwards I tried to use the PB99.img by placing it on the root of my sd card and flashing it via recovery, but didn't work!
-Then i tried to use "Android Flasher(1.76)" to flash the new hboot, but that failed aswell! :S
So do i have to repeat the whole S-off procedure again or do i need to use cmd and type in commands to flash a new H-boot? This is getting confusing :O!
If your phone is s-off, you do not have to s-off again. To recognize if your phone is s-off:
1.) Splash screen is the joker
2.) If you boot into hboot (starting with pressed volume down button) first line should be "alpharev" and in the second line the last should be "s-off".
When you use android flasher, you must not use the file PB99_IMG-XXX.zip. You have to use the file bravo_alphaspl-xxx.img ("xxx" stands for the hboot you want).
When you use the method with PB99IMG_XXX.zip, you have to rename the file into PB99IMG.zip and copy it to the root of you sd-card (just watch out, you do not rename it to PB99IMG.zip.zip, because windows hides known file extensions).
Wether you decide for android flasher or directly the method with the zip files, make a complete nandroid backup first. Then download the hboot you want and you need for the method you decided (Do not forgot to check md5 after downloading the hboot!) and run the update.
How you do this:
Android flasher:
1.) Make sure you have usb debug mode on, the behaviour when usb is connected is on "only load" and you have installed hboot dand htc drivers
2.) Connect the phone with your computer
3.)
4.) Choose the file bravo_alphaspl-xxx.img and run the update (android flasher will say you when it's finished)
PBIMG99.zip:
(...)Start the phone in HBOOT mode (VolDown+POWER) to flash the HBOOT without a PC.
Click to collapse
(from alpharev website)
In both methods now boot into recovery, wipe everything and restore the nandroid backup.
No warranty for any damage!

I doubt it's your sd-card. Okay since you've got S-OFF lets flash a different recovery. Follow these steps:
All you have to do is downlaod fastboot commander, and the java jdk for the tool to work.
Then, download the Ra Desire recovery
Once you've got that, but into fastboot (power off, hold back key & power), and plug in via USB.
run fastboot commander, navigate to the "misc" tab, select "recovery" "boot" "userdata" "system" "cache" "sd-ext"and nothing else and click "erase chosen partition(s)", then go back to the "Hboot, radio & rec" tab, choose "recovery", and find the recovery.img you have downloaded.
Then, simply press "flash recovery"
Once that's done, power off and reboot into recovery (power off, volume down & power, then use volume down key to navigate to RECOVERY and press power to select)
Then flash a ROM of your choice. For me this is the best way to flash new ROMs since it's a good, clean install and you don't get remaining crap left over from old ROMs
Did you wipe everything before flashing the rom?
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
yes, i'll try this and let u know if its working... thanks...
by the way, i've wipe everything before i try to flash a new ROM, wiping DalvikCache is unsuccesfull...
Edit: this appears to have been an issue with my USB cable. Thanks anyway to kotag82 for all his help.
I am trying to unroot my desire because the power button is broken and I need to send it in for warranty. I currently have CM7 installed, with the Bravo CM7 r2 HBOOT from AlphaRev.
I am trying to flash the stock desire HBOOT but I get this error:

I have checked the MD5 of the .img
I don't know what to do next.
Thanks
Edit: also the RUU can't see my phone. I assumed that was because I'm not using Sense so HTC Sync doesn't connect, but it may be relevant.

Is this more likely to work than the stock hboot on http://alpharev.nl/ ?
I'm slightly hesitant about flashing something I don't know where its from..
Edit, its MD5 is identical. I tried it anyway but I had the same message. "sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... FAILED (status malformed (1 bytes))"
this was downloaded from alpharev ages ago, i flashed it 1 hour ago... everything ok, i just renamed it because of im lazy to type it all...and im using rmd recovery too to flash it... see my signature, there is an option flash image in recovery menu... try to flash your original from alpharev to see if it is working... if not try mine... btw it looks like your file is corrupted
I did have a go with it, but had the same trouble. I don't think my download is corrupted because the MD5 matches what it shows on the alpharev website.
have you tried pb99img.zip method?
Ok, I tried with another USB cable and this time was successful. I don't know if that is coincidence or not but I'm happy with it. Hopefully the RUU will work once I restore Sense from nandroid.
Ruu should work now... good luck... did you use original htc usb cable?
just curious..
trying to switch partition tables on HTC desire GSM
Hi all - I've got a similar problem to that which was discussed here.
In my case I've been using my HTC desire with cyanogenmod7 BRAVO N1table partition for nearly a year now. Lately I'm noticing I am running out of space with my huge app appetite so I thought I would change the partition table to the BRAVO cm7r2 (which was not around when I first reset the partition table).
I managed to get fastboot working on my ubuntu 11.10 machine after some strife but I am stuck when it comes to flashing the hboot .img file with fastboot.
I followed the instructions on alpharev.nl and various other sites to no avail...
when I run the command:
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-cm7r2.img
the response i get from the terminal is:
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... FAILED (status malformed (1 bytes))
I am sadly quite a n00b when it comes to this stuff and really don't know how to interpret this message... I tried the bravo_downgrade.img file with fastboot flash hboot in a similar fashion and got the exact same error message
I hope the question makes sense and I've not been too verbose...
for further info, on my phone i see the following when I'm in HBOOT USB PLUG mode, from the top:
AlphaRev N1Table
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.93.1000

Any more info required just let me know - Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
something is wrong but try pb99200.zip method, place it in root of your sdcard and start the phone vol- and power buttons together
Sorry forgot to mention - I did try the PB99IMG.zip method... I put it in the root of the SDcard as per the alpharev and your instructions.. I get the error:
CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Do you want to reboot device?
<VOL UP> Yes
<VOL DOWN> No
I read up on this a bit too and I'm having trouble understanding exactly what the error means but it seems I may need to use a GoldCard? Just researching those now... perhaps I will try to make one.
Is there any possibility that my ubuntu fastboot is not working as normal? I have windows 7 dual booted so I thought next I might try running fastboot from there as it seems there is more support for windows in general... could I use a program like androidflasher to flash partition table changes?
Thanks for your super speedy reply!!!
i think golcard is needed i can't confirm as all my sdcard are goldcards
yes you can try android flasher or you can try that via RMD recovery flash image section there just put your image file on sdcard
I just had this problem after flashing cm7r2, but only because I was silly and did these steps in the wrong order:
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
Follow the above after fastboot flash hboot image.img and you should be fine

If the command does not give effect, then remove the battery for a while. It had just helped me.

2012 dude
Do you know where a full description of the solution to the problem of "FAILED status of malformed"?
I added something from each other, which may one day help someone.
I can't post on the developers thread so thought best to post here.
I'm trying to use android flasher to flash the latest Desire radio (bravo.5.17.05.23) as recommended by the Sense ROM's I'd like to try.
I have installed Windows .net 4.0 on Windows Vista, have downloaded HTC Sync and then uninstalled it leaving only the drivers remaining. I also have USB debugging enabled.
I have booted into FASTBOOT having powered off (Power button, back button) and have connected the phone to the laptop to get FASTBOOTUSB to appear.
I unzip Android Flasher and the two .dll files to the desktop and then open Android Flasher. I select Desire and then browse for the radio .img on my desktop. I tick "I'm already in fastboot" and then press flash.
At this point the status bar reaches just over halfway. No script appears in the dialogue box and nothing further happens.
Can anyone advise if I have missed a step? Do I need to reboot the phone from inside the FASTBOOT USB menu?

You might want to try and flash the radio image directly via fastboot. Just download the fastboot binary, put it in a path you can remember, put the radio img file in the same directory, click Start > Run and type in cmd. Then, type in 'cd C:\path\to\the\fastboot\directory\', followed by 'fastboot.exe flash radio radio_image_name.img'. That's it!

Yep, you need to extract the .Img file from the zip and fastboot flash that. Not going to work trying to flash the zip file.

Is it necessesary to be S-OFF to flalsh new Radio?
I tried with revoked but it does not find my phone so i think of flashing radio via fastboot instead of sdcard.

yes i believe you need to be s-off to flash radios
in your sig, you have desire s, so don't flash radios from this thread (for desire (Bravo))!
make sure you check the md5 sum of the radio.img before flashing, a bad radio flash = brick! the fastboot commands should still be the same however.
I have an old evo 4g laying around and I wanted to do some work porting my iPhone app over to Android. But when I turn on the device I just get a bootloop of the white evo splash screen. Same situation trying hboot to recovery

reboot works
Code:
./fastboot reboot
rebooting...
any thoughts? As for ROM I have no idea whats on there, I attempted to clear storage in hboot and apply a recovery update with the PC36 img method which yielded
Code:
[1] RECOVERY - OK
Update Complete...
Do you want to reboot device?
I chose yes - bootloop so go to hboot chose boot recovery - bootloop
I am no genius, but your hboot might need downgraded to HBoot_0.76.2000 for fastboot commands to work .
After doing some reading I believe you are correct. Now I am on the hunt for a reliable way to go from .79 to .76 or for an RUU in PC36img form...
Try This link calks post
Thanks, do you know if I can rename the file and update from hboot? I am unable to access recovery or the ROM proper.
Well... found a RUU that matched everything applied it the radio update failed and like a retard I restarted the phone instead of going back to hboot... Now its bricked...
Sorry to hear that man... you still might be able to get back around the brick, just have to get the right thread thread for tips on restore on brick. And if you do get it up and running, I would recommend for a custom recovery to make the peripheral tasks easier. Then you could just concentrate on porting your app instead.
Hi,
I've just bought a HTC Desire handset and I tried to Root it. From two days I am trying to do it but not succeeded.
Yesterday I used unRevoked 3.32 but in the end of whole procedure it gave me following error message:
"Error : failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?"
After that I tried to install ClockWorkMod 2.5.0.7 to take backup but when I am connecting my mobile in HBOOT mode my PC is detecting the device but I cant access the device through cmd prompt (e.g: adb shell or adb devices) it is showing : "error device not found"

I Know I am bothering you but you don't know how much I am grateful to you.
make sure the PB99IMG is not in any folder on ur sdcard and try again.
also if u do it fastboot method, extract the PB99IMG.zip file so ur left with the 2 files (android-info.txt and recovery.img) put just the recovery.img in ur c:\ drive then
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img

same result

I was reading other posts and I downloaded revolutionary software, it was installed sucessfully on my device.
In the recovery menu I selected backup/restore option from the list, after selection only "REVOLUTIONARY" is appearing on the screen from past 5 minutes.
Kindly tell, is this normal (if yes) then how much time it will take, (if not) then what should I do. Can I interrupt the process by pressing any key(which i don't know) . Does it make any problem if i reboot my mobile during this procedure.
Kindly tell I am really scared.
dear , I did something wrongly,
after i got s-off i can see only HTC logo when its on, even if i wanna open recovery mod still the same,
If i try to flash in CMD Its says <Failed : Remote not Allowed >
