Hello Everyone,
I customized the rom.zip from the official gingerbread update and removed the new hboot. I flashed this new rom to my s-off desire. After that I rooted the rom via recovery by installing su-binary and superuser apk. Everything is fine.
Now I want this nice looking tv/crt animation. I tried this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109363 but no success...
Any ideas how I can get this working?
Thanks!
sorry for my poor english

how exactly did you manage to flash the update??? Boot partitions have changed so how did you manage to do it?
I read certain posts, that partitions not changed....
as I said:
- I modified the rom.zip with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 (only small changes, cut hboot off and disabled startup sounds)
- then i flashed the signed zip with clockwork recovery
Everything works fine...
Paul told me the same: Customize the framework-res.apk. I tried it again with a different method, but no success.
Now I read something, that I have to modify services.jar/odex. I deodexed the file, but I have no idea what I have to change there.
Any suggestions?
I found that other devs included this animation in there stock gingerbread roms. i tried to use the framework-res.apk from there rom but nothing happend? I'm doing something wrong?
my steps are:
booting to recovery
mount /system rw
push new framework-res.apk to /system
connect via adb shell
chmod 644 framework-res.apk
rm /system/framework/framework-res.apk
mv /system/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
untmount, reboot
please any help...
did you find a way
Hi Zittermann,
Did you find a way for getting the CRT screen close on the HTC desire?
I have the GB pre-rooted and would like the CRT off.
Enip
hi evil_nipple,
I didn't found a way yet....
did you try to modify framework-res.apk? I still think this should be the right way, but I think I missed something on this process.
Not Yet but look at this
No I followed the instruction as you.
Been doing a bit more digging and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15976400
This has some extra steps changing the "build.prop" file, I just checked and this is not in the method you found. Not had chance to try it yet.

I was trying to flash defrost ROM but after the flash it just stucks at the HTC logo, I leaved it for about an half an hour but no difference. Then I restored my nandroid backup and it worked fine again. Then I tried flashing a few other Roms too, none of them work EXCEPT untouched and just-rooted sense ROMs. I tried both sense and non-sense based ROMs, same result. I've upgraded my radio once to which I think is the latest. I tried restoring an old nandroid backup which was native-htc 2.1 and flashing eclair there didn't help either. I ALWAYS did a full wipe before flashing.
It's an rooted amoled-desire.
What should I do?
Big thanks in advance, zlayaa

try installing this rom its worked fine for me every time rom then radio then reboot.

What happens when a rom has finished installing (what does it say?) or does it not get that far?
Hello! Thanks for the tips, I first did a full wipe. Then I flashed DeLite through Recovery (Power + Rocker Down, then Recovery and Install from Zip in the black-green custom recovery screen). I got this output:
Installing: SCARD:FroyoDelite_1.1_Odexed.zip
Finding update package..
Opening update package..

Clearing /system..

Then I flashed the radio file, got this output:

Reboot via menu to complete installation.

After the flash I went back and hit restart, it completed the radio flashing and rebooted. Then it once again stuck at HTC logo for 20 minutes until I pulled the radio. I tried flashing OpenDesire with the latest Radio and the same result.
I am having the exact same problem. Have tried flashing many roms and radios while wiping before each flash and every one freezes at the white htc screen after reboot. Only thing that works is restoring my original nandroid backup. Any help would be appreciated!
bump
(how long time do you need to wait to be allowed to bump?)
try downloading rom manager from the market and try it that way, could be that your update.zip is screwed
I tried using the flash method in ROM Manager, no difference. I haven't renamed it to update.zip, I've always used flash zip file method in clockwork recovery. Does that make any difference?

Hy all.
I'm experiencing the same kind of problem than yours, EXCEPT for ModacoCustomROMs : I successfully flashed MCR8 and then MCR9 ROM.
But, for any other Custom ROM, I get stuck in the HTC green logo screen, and never come to the animated boot screen, or, in some cases, I come to the animated boot screen, but enter in an infinite boot loop.
I discovered that I have two "bad blocks" in the /data partition, but do not know whether it could come from that (in recovery mode, I mount /data, and then, type the following command
Code:
adb shell dmesg|grep bad
and get the following message
Code:
[xxxxxxx]block 643 is bad
[xxxxxxx]block 727 is bad
I perhaps have also bad blocks in the boot partition, but do not know how to check ...
Hey! Thanks for the tip, I flashed the Modaco ROM and it worked fine! How do I check my system for the bad blocks?
I'm happy now though, I was mainly looking for a ROM which was de-odexed and had some simple mods. But it'd be interesting to know why this is happening!
EDIT: I missed that you described the commands, I'll try it and tell you the output
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I've now checked the phone with the command and I got no output, so I guess I don't have any bad blocks.
I've tried to flash MiUI but it failed too! I'd really like to get this to work so I'd appreciate all help, big as small; and because I'm fairly new to android so I'm not sure what info I should provide either, I understand that it can be very hard for you guys to debug this.
Thanks in advance. Zlayaa
Edit: I saw an option in ROM Manager, Fix permissions, and i tried it. After that I flashed miui and it worked!

This might work for all of you
This is if you still want to run on Defrost.
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
EDIT: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BOOT GO TO THE BOOTLOADER MENU.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Run the win-down.bat file.
Follow on screen instructions.
After the process is completed, Head to the root of your SD card and check if there is a file named P99***IMG (FORGOT THE EXACT NAME BUT IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS) there should be one.
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck
Big thanks! This seems to have fixed my problems!
ya ya, this should have been first. but we all wanted to play. but anyway here it is now.
this is the stock rom post OTA. added root (su and superuser.apk) as well as modified ramdisk (ro.secure=0) and busybox. Also zip aligned apps to optimize ram usage. there is odex (stock) and de-odex versions.
*i no longer see the reason for needing the pre-OTA rom. if you have a reason post up and we'll see what happens...
if you are upgrading from previous version of THIS rom you should not have to wipe, however you will still need to redo any system changes you have made, i.e. trackpad wake or notification lights.
Stock OTA kernel is now INCLUDED in rom flash. however if you want to flash an oc/uv/whatever kernel follow that post's instructions after this rom is up and running. i suggest pershoots kernels. been using his since the g1, awesome work. his g2 one has great performance AND battery life.(for me anyway)
These roms are g2 and dz compatible.
Cwm recovery recomended for ease and function.
1. Place stock rom of your choice on root of sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Do a nandroid backup.
4. Do a full wipe. (if coming from different rom)
5. Select flash zip from sd and select stock rom.
6. Once its finished, reboot and enjoy.
OTA odex: http://www.4shared.com/file/XlIDy7SV/ota_odex_V11.html
OTA de-odex: http://www.4shared.com/file/vi77pxvT/ota_deodex_v11.html
OTA bootv2 (kernel): http://www.4shared.com/file/y2NVlbJm/ota_boot_v2.html
*(only needed if you flashed a different kernel after the version 1.1 rom and want to go back to stock kernel. includes wifi module.)
pershoots's kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847672
theme template: http://www.4shared.com/file/VwINHT_r/theme_template.html
*theme template is for theme dev's only. it should be universal for any rom. just place the themed framework and/or apps in corresponding folders. i have a .txt file in the folders as a place holder, delete it after you add your themed stuff. take a look at the update script to see how it works, and to add or remove anything you need to...

Awesome thanks!! Do we have to flash a separate kernel if coming from Sense, and if so, do you have the stock kernel in a flashable .zip? Thank you in advance,
Russ
Nice work! good to have a base Rom to fall back on but why do we need three Roms for stock? why not just deodex the stock Rom with the OTA applied and be done with it? less work for you, right? I know this is quicker and will help folks who have boot looped/ soft bricked their phones. either way, good job and thanks!
Can I just remove the odex files along with the bloatware apk files from my current rom? I know they are both located in the systems/app folder.

Thanks for the quick reply
I have already wiped via stock recovery - both data/ settings and cache
I can't boot into the phone (ie the part where u have the home screen etc). Keep getting stuck at the htc quietly brilliant screen. Phone will keep looping here
Can I still install clockwork recoverY (cwm)? If yes, how? If no, what can I do to get my phone back to normal
I'm goin' crazy here lol
I need clearer instructions. What do I rename this file to? When I go into hboot how do I load said file up?

problem
Hi, I'm new and also noob, so sorry
I have same or similar problem...
I made update from A2.2 to A2.3.3 official ROM from HTC for HTC Desire and than I found custom ROM with Sense 3.0 - Cool Sensation v7.
I made S-Off and I have HBOOT 6.93.1002 now. Tried to instal custom ROM, everything installed good, but after rebooting system is still in boot-loop and a can not instal boot-fix because I still get error regarding some error about edify...
Some like this:
"amend script(update-script) is no longer supported
amend scripting was depreceated by google and android 1.5
it was neccacery to remove it when upgrading to clockwork mod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
installation aborted."
Can someone help me? Thx.
Clockworkmod uses a new script since version three. Sometimes this script is newer than the rom's one. So you get this error. You have to flash another recovery which uses the older script (older cwm release, 4ext, amonra_ra or rmd). I recommend to do this via fastboot.
MatDrOiD I assume your reply is for me... thx for reply
After no possibilities to instal boot-fix I made this (your reply I read after that):
1. downgrade to RUU froyo 2.2
2. ROOT with unreworked
3. made 1GB ext3 partiotion
4. tried install LeeDrOiD via Rom manager
...and it works!
Now i'm try installing again Cool sensation but v8
- installed fine but with boot-loop in the end
- also instaled boot-fix but phone is still in boot-loop
I should work on it harder
Make sure you followed installation instructions for leedroid correctly.
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
No, No... leedroid installed fine and works
I tried install cool sensation v8. And yes I know, it's not stable and final version
I meant the instructions for cool sensation. My bad!
SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I installed ROM and than boot-fix because of boot-loop (I see just boot logo ANDROID from cool sense v8 in loop) and than weatherpack. Phone was still in boot-loop, so I tried again install boot-fix. It still wasn't helpful. May be is error somewhere between chair and keyboard btw. for instalation I used Rom manager and before installation made full wipe dalvik and ext3
Hello,
I just wondering if why i got this error on flashing the new update for WC...
Im using CWM revcovery 5...6..??
this is the error message;
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img". "boot")
E;Error in /sdcard/HTCRoms/Roms/WC1.5-Full-Odex.zip

:C.. Please Help.. Many Thanks!
Try downloading the rom again....then flash it
If that doesnt work, try a different recovery(TWRP touch or RZR recovery)
I redownload the rom now its WC2.0 .... Still same Error (Status 7)...
I'm using a Marvel version of the Rom...
Edit: Try TWRP as a alternate recovery... Still no Luck.. same Error of Status 7... i wonder why but before i always reflash the version 1.1 and no problems but when the 1.6 is release (and tried 2.0) now it show up...
Now im stuck on CM7 03-24-12. with BT-fix alpha... :C
Maybe i could try CWM 5.0.2.8 coz i use alquez's MOD 5.0.2.6...
P.S. i only find a .IMG version is there a .ZIP version of it?? Many Thanks!
Thank you Mr. cSoulr666 i wont lose hope..
if you are on CM7....use the IMG file to flash CWM....First rename the file to a simpler name, e.g- "recovery.img"
Put the IMG file in the root(no folders) and then open terminal emulator and type the following commands
First, type "su" (without quotes) for root permissions
Then "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img"
And presto!!! The img file will be flashed

I'm working on a full Sense version of WildChild (due to request) so that might be a bit more stable for you.
The odex version of WildChild uses some funky install routines that I may abandon on future release. The funny thing is that only a very tiny portion of users are experiencing the fc problem (something like 1%!) so I'm not entirely convinced it's a ROM issue, but I'll see what I can do to add more stability. Stay tuned.

Sir tigger.. Maybe some user experience status 7 because of the size of Boot.img... i just guessing cause im using ur rom right now but i overwrite the boot.img using one form the Hensemod... 3.5mb?? vs. 2.7mb?? i dunno maybe some WFS user got a limitation for that... that way i got rid of that status 7....

I have a rooted HTC One m8 a custom Marshmellow 6.0.1 Rom with TWRP installed.
however, when I try to install mods that modify the system, like busybox or audio mods, they never install and the changes don't stick when I reboot my phone. (e.g; busbox will say it's not installed after I reboot when it clearly has been, but everything done is reverted after I reboot the phone.) Does this mean my phone is NAND locked or something? or does it have something to do with /vendor restoring things? I've looked in /vendor and /system/vendor but none of them have any of the named files busybox or any lib or /etc files that should be replaced upon reboot, so idk where to go from there. Do I just delete the entire /vendor folder?
I really want to get this to work, but none of my mods will install because they keep asking me to install busybox, which I must have done 1,000 times by now, but the changes always revert on reboot.
Can anyone help me please? Thank you
The system is write protected now. You need to flash a permissive kernel. ElementalX works good.
Above suggestion works, or you can also flash the write protection mod (wp_mod) posted in the following ROM thread:

I was looking for that link, but didn't find it. Thanks for jumping in buddy!
