I typically get between 10-16hrs on my standard battery. I carry an extra one in my pocket almost all the time. So my question is,is the 2750mah battery worth it battery life wise? And what about size? Is it better in person than what I see from pics on the internet? Also, is it still pocketable? Thanks in advance. I know that has been asked before but would like fresh opinions as I'm sure alot of people have gotten one since March.

Yes it is worth it. It's not much bigger and for me its actually easier to hold. It gives the phone more weight obviously but so what.. the phone now seems like it lasts forever

But do they make cases for it to? I have a seidio case now and I love it.

I just got mine with the Seidio Active Extended case. Read some reviews, this is the best case I have ever owned, and I promise I have tried a lot. It adds minimal bulk and excellent protection. Best part is the finish on it is basically the same as the surface case.
I would recommend the Active Extended to anyone who gets the extended battery, which at this point is most all of us.

I took mine off the charger this morning. I have installed two different roms (so consider the reboots) and mine is at 35% at the end of the day (7:00 pm).

Hmm, ill have to check them out, I love my seidio case I have now, feels great and is very slim lined so it doesn't add hardly any bulk or weight. If this is just like mine but for the extended battery I might have to seriously consider it

I just got the Verizon extended battery. I apparently lost my battery during my drunken birthday. Lucky I didn't lose my phone. Only battery they had at verizon was the extended. This thing does last forever. My stock battery was good but I always had it on 3g running liquid gingersense 1.5. It would last a day. With the extended I have left 4g on all the time and used it very heavily. I am at 26 hours and still have 38% left. Just so you know I'm using the dream kernel on normal mode. The battery does stick out a little but it is easier to hold and is still easily fit in any pocket. Get it. Well worth it.

How is the reception with the extended battery cover? I bought a cheap extended battery from Amazon and it came with a battery door that has metal clips just like the stock one but it constantly cycles between 4g 3g and 1x.
I can see where the terminals made indentations on the metal clips so its not a contact issue, not sure what is going on.

Paid $70 two days ago, The first day using the battery without charging i got almost 7 hours use out of the battery. The second day of using the battery after calibrating the battery i ened up getting a complete day of heavy useage without any charging. Today i have been heavily using my phone with the newest Myn rom & Netarchys no-havs kernel with thecollin_ph battery tweak i am at 10 hours of usage and still sitting at 75%. To me the $70 was well worth it, a little high on the price but overall a great product. I have GPS enabled, and auto sync enabled.
Interesting, thanks for the review. I've been thinking about buying the Seido extended battery. Believe you can get that one online somewhere, case & batt, for like $60. But it's good to see there's options. I just checked bb.com and couldn't find it under Evo accessories.
It's there, just Google 3500 mah Evo battery best buy. Or something to those terms. It comes with the back cover, I believe it is made by seidio because the one from best buy looks exactly like the one from seidio, as the price is the same as well. Only thing is, no case. But a zagg invisible sheild kit will do just fine for that.

I have the same battery and it works great. I decided to spend the extra couple of bucks and go to best buy just in case I had any issues I could just go back to the store instead of dealing with shipping the battery back

I've got this battery as well and I went through the process of calibrating the battery yesterday. With data off and WiFi on I went from 3:30pm to 8:01 am with using just 22%. From 12:24 (around the time I fell asleep) to 8:01 (after my alarm went off for a second time) it only used 1%.

The back cover is not intrusive at all; in fact it protects the lense better than stock cover and snaps on tighter.
haha nice nice. i'm going home from school next week and i'll pick up my extended batteries at the same time. can't wait!
Picked one up today, calibrating it now
actually not as bulky as I thought it would be
I thought i might add in on the comments to say i purchased a 3500mah battery from amazon.com, i got the one from dailypc and paid 35 bucks for it. I know it may be an off brand but so far it has stood up and is holding its ground. I got a full day without charge after first discharge down to 0. Will get a better review of it in actual time stamp from full to 0 when i get the chance. So far it is well worth the money!!!
I payed 40 dollars shipped for my 3500 seidio brand new in box with cover off a guy on ebay, love it, called him up and made a deal, he said okay, nice to know right sellers online , just a thought though, i understand the bb and seidio are "the same", but for the same price why wouldn't you just get the seidio lol.
Because id rather not have to deal with shipping stuff back. And I have 30 days to decide. Plus I like dealing directly with a company. Although I use to sell a lot on ebay and I do trust ebay on some stuff but not electronics. ;]

Well I decided to go pick up a Original 1930 mAh DROID X Motorola Extended battery. I USE my phones to the hilt, I sync everything, use everything, and take full advantage of all the features like you should when you have a device like these. All in all I am not a battery scrimper, I have a charger at home, one in the car, and a USB hanging out of my laptop everywhere. LOL. I have always hated the Tumor that sticks off the phone when you are using a EB's, but since you can barely Moto's EB is even in the phone I thought I would give it a shot.
Now to make this to the point..... When I put the battery in new it was at 30% I ran it down to the 5% warning and red blinking light. After a full charge from the Wall charger (Which only took 2 Hours BTW) I pulled it off and ran it "business as usual"... Calls (About 2 hour 20 mins worth), Browsing, Chat, Pics, Texts, Apps, Wifi on, Downloads, Played Rock band for awhile, Full sync to all 5 Gmail accounts, FaceBook every hour and Twitter the same. Plus a 1300mHz OC (Low Voltage) with out Screen off or battery low profiles (I thought that would be unfair). Here are the findings....
Total Time Unplugged: 14 Hours 34 Minutes
My setup is in my Sig but... basicly it is Rooted, I stripped ALL Bloat from the Stock ROM, and like I said before Droid OC to 1300 (Low Voltage), Also... GoTo Lockscreen
So now.... I can leave my chargers at home and plug in once overnight. I have to say, this is the best $50 to spend on the phone.
NOTE: This was only after the FIRST charge, after 3 complete charges I can only assume it will be better.
EDIT>>> For a comparison... Running the stock battery I would be at 20-30% by 12:00 (Noon) Easily

I have this battery too, and I use the standard battery door with it. It is a little snug, but it does fit. This avoids any excess bulk. I have used it this way for a few months now. I am running apex and overclocked to 1.3 and my battery life is great.
I've had this battery for quite a while now and I've found my battery dying A LOT faster than it used to haha. When I first got the battery, it was amazing, now.... not so much haha. Been doing charge cycles and clearing battery stats but it still remains bad haha. Still much better than the stock battery though haha.

Verizon and Motorola should give you a commission!
Due to your review, I went back to the Verizon store and bought the battery. Heck, the salesperson never told me that they even had this available, or I would have bought it with the phone!
I'm running it in an Otterbox Defender case, with the battery cover that came with the battery. So far no issues, but I'm getting much better battery life.
Thanks!

Hey, I have an Otterbox Defender and I have been holding off on picking up one of these batteries. I really want the extended battery but I don't know how it would work with the case.
So the battery does come with an extra back plate for it? Have you tried the battery on it's own without a back plate and just using the Otterbox case and if so, how does it fair?
me too! just got it today!
The battery comes with its own battery cover. It didn't feel thinner, but a bit heavier. I'm guessing it's a heatsink.
I put the battery in, put the cover on, and put the Otterbox case on. It was a tighter fit, I had to be a little careful in ensuring that the two halves of the otterbox case locked together. But it's together and I didn't have to modify anything. I've been using it ever since, and haven't had any problems. And I *love* the extra battery life! I routinely have 40% left at the end of the day, and I'm a pretty avid user. I have an Exchange account on push, gmail on push, and use google voice constantly.

Just thought I would contribute my two cents. Like many others, I was disappointed (but expected as much) with the short battery life. I work 12 hour shifts on the weekends and it was a chore to keep charging the phone.
So I called to Verizon, complained and they tried to get me to go in the store and exchange the entire phone (because I wad in the 14 day period). I explained that I know that the battery is the issue, not the phone and explained to him a few things to prove I was tech savvy (plus, I didn't want to spend another two hours configuring another phone).
He said that the only replacement part he could send was the extended battery (which is what I wanted anyway). He sent it overnight free of charge (as it should be in the Thunderbolt's case).
I can honestly attest, after a week of use, that even with constant downloading/streaming, the battery does last my entire 12 hour shift without charging.
The only downside is the fact I can't find a case for my phone with an extended battery. (I'm sad that my Seido Innocase will probably be eBayed). HTC should at least had made a make shift case, anything that could serve as a barrier between my work hands or any table surface.
But oh well, I mainly gave up my N1 so that I could be grandfathered into Verizon's unlimited 4G network when tiers come out.
Hope this info helps.

I too have had the extended battery for about a week now and I am very happy with it. I work 10 hour days and I'm always near a car charger but I don't want to constantly have my phone charging. Like you said the only downside side is the lack of cases. I had to cut my phone case to make it usable.

Why not just buy 2 batteries? That thing is god awful looking... 2 batteries and a multi-charger unit = win.
This is for another thread, but the gist of it is once vz comes out with new tiered data plans (meaning 1/3/5/10 gb etc), the existing plan you are on will stay at the unlimited level.
ie: keeping your existing plan when it is no longer available is called being grandfathered.

In my opinion, I would rather get the extended battery instead of having an extra one. I for one, don't like opening and shutting the back plate of the phone so often. That is how it easily breaks......especially the tabs that hold the back plate.....IMHO...better off going with the extended battery!
This is a bad ass phone, i think the extended battery makes it look even more bad ass. Just my opinion.

Agree 1000%! The extra grip is key for me, because i generally drop my phones not super often but it does happen. I dig the extra bulk. Its really not that bad. Plus it works great. Gets me through all day. In fact, i purposely try to kill it at night because i wanna give it a good full charge while i sleep. So ill pull up angry birds and play for a while. Takes me a while to kill this thing, works great!

The phone's already so big and heavy (compared to anything I've been carrying the last couple of years), what's an extra 1/4" inch and 2 ounces...?
I was fairly critical of the extended battery until I bought one on Monday to see for myself the benefits vs costs (price in weight and bulk) of it. It's definitely big, ugly, and doesn't help me grip the phone any better (makes it worse for me), but after getting 31 hours (with heavy use for me) off my first charge, I decided I could put up with it. Today I'm down to 82% after 7 hours of moderate use, so looking to get about the same drain as original test.
The Thunderbolt will be my pickup truck; big, ugly, utilitarian, but gets the job done in all conditions...my Nexus S will remain the sports car; sleek, sexy, light-weight, gorgeous to look at. Everyone should have one of each! LOL

Nice...and you get that hot, melting plastic smell too!
So I decided to purchase an extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus since the original (1750 mAH) battery didn't really live up to my expectations. The original battery gave decent battery life and kept the thickness of the phone to a minimum.
After receiving the battery from ebay member: mulkin, I had inspected the battery and confirmed that it was indeed the "official" extended battery for the GSM model.
I wasn't expecting the battery to come in a couple days since it was coming from South Korea, but it did take less than a week to get here to South California. Packaging was very nice and kept the battery and back cover well protected.

The extended battery cover that was included with the extended battery still has the same texture as the original. The phone also feels better with the new battery cover. The slight thickness it adds still maintains the phones low profile. The only thing it loses is the slight curve of the original battery cover right above the rear speaker. NFC works perfectly and isn't affected at all, it also works well if your using the stock battery with the extended back cover.
Overall, I am happy with the product. Battery life has definitely improved over the couple days I was using it. I am going to attach screenshots of the battery life I am getting, as well as pictures of the extended battery on the phone soon. If you have any questions, just leave a comment.
Thanks.
Thank you for the review with pictures. I have the battery as well, there is a existing thread in regards to this topic to anyone who wants additional information about this battery before making a purchase.
I personally purchased mines from shimshop.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Sam...Accessories&hash=item1c222d0cea#ht_4976wt_905
Also genuine, ~$36 ships from South Korea.. takes about 1.5 weeks. Negri also sells this battery as well but it's ~$50.

Thanks for posting this. I was also surprised how quickly this was shipped in from South Korea (to Montreal, CA).
Also, FWIW, my Otterbox Commuter and SGP Ultra Capsules fit perfectly with the new battery door and larger battery.
And to throw this out there, you can easily get through 24 hours of casual to moderate usage on this thing... And for heavy days, I reach 4 hours of screen on time with ~25-30% remaining (@12 hours unplugged).
Now to find a white extended battery door.

Forgot to mention that this extended battery and door fit snugly into the Incipio Silicrylic cases, too.

I couldn't agree more with your thread.
I also like the fact that - when you set your phone down (without a case), it lies perfect FLAT.
Depends on your own preference, but the aesthetics of it pleases me greatly.
Mine arrived today and I love it. it does add some weight but just feels more sold.looking forward to seeing what screen time I can achieve with this
I just ordered one myself today, looking forward to it

What sort of gains can we expect out of an additional 250mah?
Are we talking about extra hours? Very interested...
I ordered one as well from the shimshop seller. Should arrive in a week or two, will post pics as well when it arrives, and tell you my experience

First off, thanks for the quick review. I'm thinking about ordering one of those too.
Could you tell me if the new battery cover has any gap to the actual phone, by that I mean... does it fit the phone perfectly or does it make any noise when pushing on it?

The new battery cover has no gap at all. It does fit perfectly and there is no noise at all when pushing on the battery cover. I want to attach pictures of the battery on the phone but I don't have a camera on me at the moment.

Is there any shop to order this from in the states or is it still only available through eBay or a Korean shop?

take a look at here, http://www.expansys-usa.com/samsung-extended-battery-and-cover-for-gsm-galaxy-nexus-226962/
Only 4 hours on screen time? I average over 5 on mobile data with mine, pre 404. I need to do a rundown test to see how much now, probably closer to 6 hours. I do have auto brightness on though. The mah difference isn't huge, but I'll take all I can get and if it even gives a half hour more screen time then its worth it. Feels better in the hand too.

Could you take a picture of the "inside" of the battery cover please? Would be much appreciated... I'm still thinking about buying one for my phone.
I've done some research and it looks like the extra 250 mah will give you about a 14% boost in battery life. So, imagine as if you start out with ~114% battery life, as oppose to ~100%.
Hm... still undecided if that's worth the extra $36 and slight thickness added to the phone...

Wow 5 hours
, that's not bad. I probably would have gotten that too but that day where I took that screen shot, I was listening to a lot of music so that's why the screen time was sort of low.

I am looking to keep my white GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus naked as the bulk is just too much, and I need as much comfort in my hand as possible...
That being said: does anyone want to chime in on how the Mugen extended battery is performing compared to stock and/or the original Samsung /w battery door?
I have the original samsung extended battery, but no white door to put on...
Thanks guys.
One thing to note if you are buying a replacement battery... the NFC antenna is built into the battery. If this is a feature you use, make sure your new battery has it.
I am waiting for my 4000mah mugen battery including nfc. But would also love the pogo car dock.. Too bad in does not fit anymore with the New battery..

Both will give you about 80% of the capacity they put on the label. Everyone else will give you much less than that, 70% tops, and often half or less.
I think these cheapo $10 3800 extended batteries on ebay are pretty good if you come in with the right expectations.
Yes, we know they aren't 3800, and are closer to 3000, but that still gets you about 1000mah more than the stock battery.
Yes, they lose their capacity over time more quickly than a genuine battery, but you should treat these types of batteries as disposable.
Buy one for $10, use it for 6 months and then buy another one.

The only thing that keeps me away from buying them is that batteries, in a general way, are pretty dangerous for the environment, specially cheap ones. And I wouldn't like to make that kind of waste buying several batteries.

it adds a little thickness but not that much, actually you won't notice any difference while holding it and using it with one hand
the only downside is the back cover, I don't know what its called in English , but the tips thats go in the phone body can easily be broken
( look at the image i circled the thing as an example - the photo not mine )
what do you think about this?

Could I trouble someone to measure the thickness of the Seidio 3500 for GSM? Looking to get one, but want to see if I can do a little modding to fit it in a case without using that unsightly back door. From the comparison pic above, it seems to be a hair over double the thickness of stock battery. Correct?
