[Q] Gingerbread FOTA Update Corrupt? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
My dad got around to telling me today that his phone has been complaining for over a month that the gingerbread update is available via FOTA, and has been auto downloading but failing each time.
I had a look myself, and the phone has this error:
Update is corrupted
The downloaded system software update is corrupted.
Do you want to download again?

I am wondering what I need to do in order to install the update? A factory reset? Another type of update?
As far as I know, he hasn't modified his phone. He's not technologically challenged, but he is no genius.
Thankyou for your help!

[Q] Rooting process changed after new T-Mobile update on 9/10?

Hey,
I am wondering if the same rooting processes work after i install T-Mobile's newest update via KIES that came out on Sept 10,.I think its called T999UVALI5
The reason is because when I re-rooted my phone after T-Mobile's first update (the update that removed universal search), the phone was laggy when in recovery mode and when deleting programs in titanium backup.
If anyone has re-rooted with the new update, can you tell me what root method you used and if it is laggy in the same respect as mine was?
Thanks a lot for your help
does anyone know anything about this?

[Q] Anyone else not able to get OTA update?

I'm in Cincinnati Ohio, and I have a *completely stock and non-rooted* Note 2. I have been trying to get this OTA update since it came out, but no dice so far.
It basically just says that no update is available - the same message everyone else reported. Am I just in an area where it has not been rolled out for *anybody*? Or is there something going on?
I know on my Nexus 7 I had to clear the data on a google service to get it to notice when the Kit Kat update showed up - anything like that for the Note 2?
Thanks.
P.S.
I have searched both XDA and with google, and completely read through the main large thread in this forum relating to the update.
I don't want to load the update in any other way that will wipe my phone. I understand that many of you don't feel like waiting for an OTA, and download these updates and load them manually. I do not want to do that. So, this post is only seeking information as to how I can get the OTA update through the update mechanism in the phone.

Have you tried updating through KIES?

No, I don't even have it installed. If I decide to install KIES, does it do the update without wiping the phone - just like the OTA?
I just don't like installing vendor crapware on my computers unless it is absolutely necessary. Which is why I don't own electronics with a "i" prefix.
Ok, I installed KIES and attached is an error message it gives relating to a firmware update

Crap, nevermind. I got this phone via trade and it turns out that the guy I got it from had rooted it at some time in the past... So no OTA for me. I'll accomplish it the way all the other folks have.
Thanks

I am in the exact same situation and seems like we are out of luck.
Is there a way for someone who has the newest update to somehow upload it as a file that we can install through odin?

OTA Updates???

I know when flashing, firmware updates can be 1Gb - 2Gb file sizes. When you take that same update OTA, do they send down the entire firmware file, or just the sections that need updating? This 910V is the first phone I have never rooted, and have never taken an OTA update. When I bought it, it was on 5.0. I downloaded the CQC1 firmware and installed it updating it to 6.0, via Odin. It tried to update itself immediately after I rebooted. I disabled the updater until I did some homework, as the thing was relentless about updating and driving me crazy. I see now there is CQD1, CQE1, and CQF2 available. My problem is, I have a crap internet connection (1.5Mb) and am wondering if it has to download that huge file anyway OTA, if I wouldnt be better downloading it myself and installing it via Odin.... rather than an OTA update that gives me no info on progress etc....?
So:
1) OTA or download and install it/them myself
2) If installing myself, Where is the best place to download the huge file, without having to sign up or be throttled?
3) Is there anything in these newer updates that warrant updating, or any problems that arise from them? Or is it wise to just stay on CQC1 which is working without a hitch?
Thanks for any help.

Yeah the ota update is a smaller file. If you want, I just downloaded the CQI2 firmware and can upload it to AFH. I just did the 6 hr download and could save you some time.
The new update patches the bluborne vulnerability and from camparing the framework between this version and the last, there are a bunch of changes but Ive only had it installed for half a day so Im not real sure how much better or worse it is.
Thanks for the offer, much appreciated! But I went ahead and allowed the PTA update. I thought it would download the latest update and be done. Nope, it downloaded them 1 at a time in order. First CQD1, then CQE1, then CQF2, then CQI2. It took about an hour each total, but at least its updated

Sure! Here you go. It's a completely unaltered firmware of CQI2. If your bootloader is unlocked, flashing this file will lock it back up and you'll be 100% stock.
