Ruggedized case now sold sold to PatriotXT92
Item received! Kit is in excellent condition still all wrapped up as new for my unboxing pleasure Also included were some screen protectors and a case, above and beyond, very chuffed, thanks again Ronak.
Re usage, you can get vga converters for about £50
amazon.co.uk/HDfury-1080P-HDMI-Converter-Transcoder/dp/B000SOPWS8
This is dvi to vga but you can get a dvi to hdmi connector for a couple of quid. But yeh a hdmi enabled monitor is about £75 now, and whether a converter would even work or not i dont know. Would be great to have a way for sneaky full screen web browsing on my vga monitor at work...

Sounds good to me. So far, all price leaks regarding the Atrix have been really interesting (150$ for the laptop, 150$ for the phone with 2 yr contract in US, probably similar with 3yr in Canada, and now these reasonably priced docks).
i wonder if you HAVE to use the docking station with a screen, or does that just give you the remote control capability?
Surely I will just be able to plug in via HDMI and play movies, music, pictures etc? Seems odd that you need a special box for it. Possibly more comfortable, thats all.
Maybe someone will invent a wifi based remote control...?
Its logical, that if you have miniHDMI port, you dont need anything else (also check this thread someone said about video output).
I think that the Standart Dock is just for charging and easier connecting Atrix to TV (normal HDMI port) and with HD Dock you can also connect some USB devices like mouse or keyboard.
And most important you get nice stand for your Motorola
If there's only a $10 difference I may just get two multimedia docks. One to keep connected to my TV and the other next to my bed.
that hd dock looks great, I really want one for my Atrix ( when I will buy it ). And that other dock, it doesn't have remote control, right?
latest word is the dock is going to cost upwards of $500.
AT&T has announced pricing for the Android smartphone, which will run $199.99 when you sign up for a 2-year contract, but it will cost $499.99 to purchase the docking station that effectively turns the phone into a laptop computer. That means the docking station will be about twice as expensive as we’d been hearing… and it will cost even more if you don’t buy the Webtop at the same time as the phone. Oh yeah, you’ll also have to pay for a tethering add-on in addition to your smartphone data plan.
The dock will run $499.99 if purchased separately.

That's the laptop dock. The HD Multimedia Dock will be "only" $189 with a keyboard, mouse, and remote.

Love the "only"... That has to be a crazy keyboard and mouse...
HD dock is $130 or so. Screw that. Just run the HDMI cable straight to the TV from the phone, and use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, no need for the USB port.
I ordered the multimedia dock bundle because I get 40% off accessories through the at&t premier website. $117 isn't so bad for everything you get. The laptop dock was not fiscountable but the price of that was not worth discount or none IMO. If I don't like the multimedia dock I have 14 days to return it... so here's hoping I like it.

According to this video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8sN3DnKaKM if you only plug in the HDMI cable there is no Webtop button. The guy says when you plug in just an HDMI cable there are two modes "Entertainment mode, and the do nothing mode"
So I guess they figured out a way for the phone to identify when it is using one of the docks.
I would like a standard dock that just holds the phone and maybe allows for charging; im definitely thinkinng of the standard dock though.
Using this in class to take notes is something taht is really excitint; im using an ipad right now and i love it, but sometimes I dont want to throw at ithe bag and set it up just to take a few notes.

The HD Multimedia dock does everything the Standard dock is capable of and them some right? For instance if I don't hook up the HDMI cables to the HD dock it will act like the standard one and display clock+alarm right?

Correct, I have a MM dock and when it's not plugged into my pico projector, it displays an option to run the "Widget clock". The included (cheaply made IMHO) IR remote can start/ stop media as well as a few other things. BTW, if you didn't know, HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI, so a passive, inline adapter can connect the MM dock to any modern display. There is an 3.5mm audio output from the MM dock as well.
Thank you! Just one more thing question.

More along the lines of this.
I like the cable ones as they don't put much stress on the sockets
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Typically, the DVI display connections i use are vertical, so I don't have stress on mine. However, I see your point. Note that you'll need an adapter on the other side of your wire to connect to the phone, though.

Thank you - thank you - thank you!! I have just ordered one myself I don't know how I'm going to manage to wait the 3-5 days for delivery, even though I went without a dock for MONTHS already. Thanks again.
Be wary if you think you're going to get in on this deal - I received a Standard Dock instead of the Multimedia Dock. Needless to say it's being sent back as item not as described. Gonna hit up a store to grab this, since their warehouse had no idea what they were doing.
I had the same thing happen. Turns out they call the Standard Dock the Multimedia Dock, and the Multimedia Dock is known as the HD Multimedia Dock. If you noticed, this thread says the HD MM dock was $15, but the one you bought was only $10.
I buy three of each and I get my three standard docks. I call bell and they say they want to ship my hd docks this week.

I cant seem to find the car dock on the bell site, anyone mind posting the link?

No, as far as I know, because the dock hold the phone into place using the HDMI and charger ports.

It was only US $3.15 - I'm very pleased with the results, and the mouse keyboard combo was US $24.00 with the shipping.

If I was interested in saving my money I would have continued using the hdmi cable that comes with the phone and the wireless keyboard I already own. ($0, beat that! ).
The intent of the post wasn't to see who could come up with the cheapest alternative to a HD dock. It was to let anyone who may be interested in the OEM product know it was on sale for a reasonable price.
That being said, I did end up buying the dock and am very pleased with it. Having it hooked up to my stereo system, coupled with the remote and usb storage, makes it a very nice little setup. I'd always kind of written off the accessories for the phone, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well everything worked.

You have a point.
There is a workaround.
For example, with my S3 I have a slim case.
I bought an Ibolt car dock and a KiDiGi desktop....both with provisions to accommodate with/without a slim case specifically made for an S3.
YET...still, the fit was loose on the desktop and though tight on the Car dock, the grooves were too deep allowing too much screen to be obscured.
THE WORKAROUND...I sliced up some black super high density foam and created a BED inside the grooves of the docking stations so that it would be a much tighter and safer fit. Works perfect and hardly visible. (black on black) I simply glued the foam to the docks.
In my head, my imagination and I have designed docking stations with an adjustable base/sides that you SCREW SET into place according to the case that you are using for your S3. Is this such a hard thing to implement? Doubt it. Some of the Proclip car docks have a hint of this type of adjustability.
The price of this is way out of what it should be it's nothing new or special it's just eh dock with extended features I know its Samsung so you pay a premium price and it would match your device color but you would really have to want it to be a Samsung one at that price.
I mean conversion wise Euros are pretty much a straight conversion to GBP so let square it £90 for a dock that has OTG support and MHL that's just crazy.
Here is a link for all those interested: http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/...nes/EDD-S20EWEGSTD?subsubtype=docking-station
Careful, your post makes it seem like the US item is equivalent to the German item you also show. But the US dock is the regular one without HDMI and USB Host access.
Generally - it seems that most companies match the foreign purchase price in euros - to dollars when it eventually arrives in the US. In other words, when it gets released on the US website - I'd expect it to be around $80. I could be wrong, but I'm waiting to see if it arrives soon.

sir, you are confused.
the "american link" is NOT the same device at all. it does not have OTG, nor does it have HDMI
your american link: charges, syncs, 3.5mm audio
the german link: charges, may sync, 3.5mm audio, HDMI out, USB host (for keyboards mouse, etc.)
HUGE difference.

Yeah...I just saw this dock the other day. It just hit the internet. Thanks for also showing the American link version. Black too. $50usd is not that bad really. Considering the wiring and outputs, it's priced ok in N.A. It is a generic solution...but I would simply compliment it with my foam trick from my previous post. You know, with the foam, you end up with a darn tight fit and a soft landing pad as a bonus.
UPDATE: oh...scarrmrcc and P0ll0L0c0 point out that it's not the same unit. Too bad. Don't feel bad. We all make mistakes.
You should edit your post accordingly.

http://www.uk-mobilestore.co.uk/pro...y-S3-Multimedia-Dockingstation-%2d-White.html
so, it is moving slowly in the direction of the US
in Germany, it costs €80....
http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/...nes/EDD-S20EWEGSTD?subsubtype=docking-station
I want to have this but ain't willing to pay such price...€30 to €40 cheaper should be ok...but the proud €80 is outrageous!!
I hope I can find similar cheaper products (copies) in amazon or ebay very soon.
Post edited sorry guys for the confusion I don;t know why that's called a multimedia dock as well?
I am holding on to my 50% off coupon code for this dock. I feel it combines allshare (when on ROMs with wired) and OTG capabilities. If I buy allshare, I might not be able to use AOSP roms.

samsung uses the term multimedia pretty darn loosely...
the US link gives 2 media: usb storage (as in it allows you to access the phone's memory) and audio. so tecnically, it is multimedia.. but I feel that is cheating.
the german one at the beginning of the thread, has one major difference in nomenclature: it is a docking station (unlike the the other, which is just a dock). as a docking station is it gives USB (storage. and access), HTMI out, OTG, audio.. the whole thing. (and uses the "smart mote" triggered by a 40.2kOHM resistor).
they deliberately make people think the items are more than they are...
Finally! Has anyone found a blue version available for pre-order?
HELP!!! Can the multimedia dock be compatible with other android+mhl+otg phones?
Hi, Can someone please tell me if the multimedia dock can be used with other android phones with MHL and OTG capability? For example the Zte V985 has a micro usb port and supports full MHL + OTG and is also android 4.0.4 so theoretically it should also work with the samsung multimedia dock?

Hi Purchased from Amazon UK (seller was Amazon)http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0051D3KKI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 actual price £23.55 but now looks like Amazon have suspended that item until they review a complaint, suggest you keep an eye on that link.
Surprised No has been able to answer my question regarding BT trackball!!!
If its a BT track ball I would think it will hook up just fine, same way a BT mouse would.
Just to let you know if you are in the UK with a HMV store nearby you can get these for £10. Picked up a couple last week.

Hi which one do you have, how do you connect it to the tablet, I assume its just Bluetooth no dongle, thanks.:good:
Simple the original one:
http://www.amazon.de/PlayStation-Du...HY/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1362585611&sr=8-10
bought it when it was on amazon for 35€ incl. shipping!!! nice deal i thought. I do connect it with the app "sixaxxis" (bluetooth). Requires root though, but pretty nice app. Now i can play all the games of my childhood: zelda (oot, n64), tekken (psx) without the need to install the damn ugly consoles in my living room .. thats just awesome!!
After installing the app I noticed that you can emulate a mouse. That is very useful to me for streaming movies from my server, look something up on imdb and so on with the hdmi adapter...
any more questions? ?

Thanks, not rooted, do not want to go in that direction, so am I correct in assuming you can only connect bt directly to tablet when you root it, otherwise I need a dongle??
So no way of having it connect to bt when using the hdmi adapter, bummer.
Question: Is the HDMI output lag-free, do the homescreens run smooth and is the image quality okay?
I just sent back the wireless allshare adapter because the streamed image has 15FPS when not buffered, the quality is worse than i expected and it ends every multitasking capability of the Note.

Well, keep in mind the ASCD won't mess with the resolution or color depth of the image displayed on the LCD, so if you see video quality issues (bad scaling or graininess or such) it's likely due to what your TV does with the not-quite 720P resolution of the signal from the Note 10.1 (1280x720 isn't a native resolution of most monitors and likely scales it to 1366x768), so I'm betting that the picture via the HDMI hard-wired cable will look the same (on static images) as did the picture from the ASCD.

New 2013 model of HDTV Adapter?
I'm shopping around for an HDTV Adapter for my GT-N8010 at the moment, and I've noticed that several online shops are advertising a new 2013 model - EPL-NPHPBKG.
e.g. - www dot amazon dot com /Original-Samsung-Genuine-EPL-NPHPBKG-EPL-3PHPBEG/dp/B00B8NJ6E4
They claim that it is the next verson of EPL-3PHPBEG (the model that this thread is about). Does anyone know what the difference is? The only thing I can see that might be an improvement is "Simultaneously charge your Galaxy Note 10.1 while streaming". I've seen reports on other threads about their tablet not charging while plugged in to the HDTV adapter. Can you confirm if this functionality exists on your EPL-3PHP?

Hi,
I dont know the id of my hdtv adapter but as far as i own it since the early days of my previous tab 10.1 (p7500) I am pretty sure it's the "old" one.
I can confirm the adapter is definetly charging my n8000 while connected to my tv behind the docking station (universal samsung), streaming .mkv from my ubuntu desktop / server machine and being controlley by emulated mouse with my ps3 gamepad (via sixaxxis).
Sure you won't win a speed challange with that configuration but the main point is it is charging. I guess about ~ 2..3 % / 0,5..1,0 h (never did a measurement ) but still charging. Thats pretty nice because sometimes when I come home from university and the battery is nearly empty (sometimes 2 days of usage with a single charge) I plug my note into the docking station, let it charge to 3 or 4 %, turn it on and start streaming. When I end the day and shut down the tv the note is at about ~10% and ready to get charged the whole night.

http://www.amazon.de/PlayStation-Du...HY/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1362585611&sr=8-10
bought it when it was on amazon for 35€ incl. shipping!!! nice deal i thought.

Looks good!
Update, just purchased apple Magic Trackpad looks like it works on my Tablet, No Dongle just Pin number input for connecting, so in theory I will be able to use it to control Note 10.1 whilst connected via HDMI adapter to TV, will confirm when it arrives this week.
Just received my EPL-3PHPBEG from Expansys. It was not the most expensive, but dirt cheap either. It works. It says it is for the Tab 10. The price on this seems to vary wildly with the cheaper ones (19-25$) all seeming to be out of stock, except today went back to Amazon and the Zeeestmm version now seems to be in stock and going for 29.00$
It works for my purpose - Powerpoint and other document projection. It does need to be powered, and the tab needs to be rebooted at least for the projector to recognize it. So it's working fine on my Tab Note 10.1.
What chaps me about Samsung, it the myriad of numbers and letters, all a bit different, but all seeming to be the same item. I thought it was bad with the phones and tabs, but it is beyond annoying with accessories.

Thanks for the reminder. Probably the image will look not better than before. However, it was not a difficult decision why i sent the Allshare Cast Hub back to amazon. For 60€ it's just to much for what it would have been for me. Ending all MultiWindow possibilities is probably the worst part. Well, with the HDMI cable i won't be able to connect USB anymore .. so everything has pros and cons. For what it offers, the wireless adapter was just too expensive and i was really annoyed that it was never remarked on ANY website i read that it ends multitasking features of the Note 10.1.
