[Q] From Syndicate to Syndicate Frozen?

Hi all,
I'm currently running SyndicateROM DI18 and have held off on flashing new ROMs until SyndicateROM Frozen came out. It's now out, and I'm a little uneasy about the steps I need to go through to install it. Could somebody outline all the steps that I need to take to go from DI18 Syndicate to EC05 SyndicateFrozen?? I have an idea as to what I need to do, but I want to be completely sure of what I'm doing before I do it.
Thanks so much!
I'd also like to thank all the developers that have worked so hard to make our phones awesome!
you can do it a couple of different ways. you can odin to di18 stock and accept the ota for ec05. you can also odin to eb13 and then odin the modem to ec05. some people are having better luck going from eb13 than ec05. either way you take run the one click root for eb13 with cwm3. boot into cwm and once the conversion is complete flash the rom before you reboot.

+1 and you should definately upgrade to the new rom as it is great even though some users are having some issues with it but nothing really major.
Ended up Odin ing to EB13 that was pre-rooted with CWM3, then flashed the EC05 Modem and then flashed the SyndicateFrozen ROM. Everything works perfectly, and boy is it fast!
Thanks for the help!

[q] i need help please

I got the update from sprint and am now running on the EC05 stock rom. I want to flash the viper rom 5.0 but i need EB13.. Can anyone point me in the right direction so i dont brick my phone again? thanks
You don't need EB13, you just need root access.

Can't find Epic Official ondinless Sprint stock flash program

Hello,
I have a program on my desktop that is supposedly the official sprint samsung epic restore.. you know the press 1 and power.. and it restores the epic back to a version 1 prior to current. Then a person can update and root and whatever. Odin is not working for me, files must be corrupt. In any case, I have searched for 4 hours for the bloody file and cannot find it anymore on xda. Could anyone please let me know where it is? I'm on holiday and the phone is kind of important as New York requires me to use it to navigate make reservations and so on.
Here is the EB13 SWUpdate program
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5...0YS00NzQxLWI3MzItMGYzZDI5MmZlM2Vh&hl=en&pli=1
Not sure if the link is against the rules or not, but if it gets removed, do a google search for:
eB13 Samsung Epic SWUpdate
How about Unrooted EC05 stock? I know CWM 2.5.5 RFS is for rooted EC05 and one click CWM 3.1.0.1 RFS is an update to that.
The EB13 flash tool is Odin wrapped in a Windows installer-like UI. Are you talking about the CWM flashable ReRFS EC05?
Thank you. I do hope it works.

[Q] need some help..

I feel helpless now, sorry ahead of time if someone instantly redirects me to a section of the website. I've been searching forums for almost 5 hours now and have gotten nowhere. I sent my phone in to get the brick fixed and had him root it at the same time... I'm running 2.3.4 kernel version 2.6.35.7 gb.eh17? So i'm assuming this is a stock rom? I have no cwm for my phone, i haven't been able to flash it or install it whatsoever, I get failed signature everytime. Now I understand that 2e as opposed to 3e (which I have) allows unsigned files to be installed, but I haven't been able to find a way to revert back to that.. There's kernels that I can download that come with cwm but those have root files in them too.. will this mess anything up? could I flash a kernel to my phone with the root files and in turn have cwm working? how do I know what kernels will work for my phone and firmware version specifically? I just want to do cool things to my phone now! I'm feeling i've wasted money to have it rooted since I can't do a damn thing with it right now.. SORRY for the long post, it's been 5 hours of running in circles and i'm quite frustrated. Any help at all is very much appreciated!!!
Lots of questions. First of all you can't flash anything in stock recovery not put out by Sprint or Samsung. Next you will need to use Odin to install CWM since no one click version works with GB. EH17 is a leaked ROM not official. Official version of GB is EI22. You can Odin in an EC05 ROM prerooted and then flash a EI22 prerooted ROM then if you want to change the modem flash the EC05toEI22 modem file. Here are some threads to help you:
Odin and how to use it:

EC05plus ROM:

Modems:

This method you will lose all data so make sure your contacts are on Google and not the phone. Or export your contacts to the sd card.
thanks!! the links are broken but I believe I know where to go with this now, all I have to do is install a new rom/cwm via odin? which will just replace my stock "rom" I guess. I've been scared to even think about that considering that's how I bricked it the first time. Thanks for your time!
Which links are broken? If you are able to get into download mode it is never bricked.

[Q] Unrooting EI22 and returning to stock.

Ok, so nothing has been posted about this for a while, from what I can tell, but I wanted to see what the best method is to return my phone to stock for repair. I have EI22 "Mostly stock" rom w/ EI22 modem, Nubecoder kernel and CWM. I want this back to stock 2.3 w/ all of the regular EI22 crap, and the threads I've read are about getting it back to EC05 stock. I'm not sure if I should follow the ReRFS method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904
Then doing OTA to 2.3.. OR just flash the Heimdall EI22 package here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353310
Has anyone performed either of these on EI22 that could share?
Thanks!
Go with the second method with Heimdall. The first will still have you rooted with CWM recovery. You would need additional steps to unroot and try to get the OTA which may fail.

Odin back to ec05. Find the update.zip file which will bring you back to ei22. I wouldn't do ota. It takes forever and can get corrupted. If you can't find the ei22 zip let me know. I can upload it for you to download.
**edit** do what kennyglass said.

Since I cracked my screen, I wanted to return to stock before taking back for replacement. I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
Then did OTA to EI22 Gingerbread. And everything worked fine for me. Never tested to see if CWM recovery was still there.
So my question is CWM still on my phone? And if so, is it going to be there after it is fixed?

Nope. Odining a stock tar replaces CWM with. Stock recovery. With the OTA you have to jump through hoops to get it back. It will require Odining CWM recovery in with reboot unchecked. Pulling and reinstalling battery and booting straight into CWM and then flashing a custom kernel. For Root you will need to flash su.zip as well. I prefer flashing a full ROM right away to get root.

Here's a link where you can find the EI22 Update.zip:

IMO, since you want to take it in for repair, odining EC05 is going to be your best bet. There won't be any traces of root left on your phone, with the exception of your SD card, which you should also copy and then get rid of. Some people think this is going too far, and the Sprint techs won't look at it, but whatever, if you're taking it in for repair, I would cover all my bases. To the extent of creating another Gmail account to sync up your phone with, so they don't see Titanium Backup and/or Root Explorer, etc as some of your paid for apps.
OTA or download the update.zip as mentioned to get to EI22. Once you get your phone back, I would odin again to EC05, skip the update and oneclick from there and flash whatever ROM you were on before, or flash the nandroid you made before odining from the same version of CWM you had before you started this whole thing.
Again, some may think it's overkill, and it might be, but at least you won't be called in to the store informed they won't fix your phone because some nosey sprint tech knows your phone was rooted.
