Ok
this is my dilemma
Im trying to flash a miui rom
but i cant because it keeps failing everytime i flash the radio and then rom
I really need to know what conditions that need to be met in order to flash this rom
Do i need to revert back to stock firmware?(how and where can i find the sbf or ruu?(new to htc world))
I just really need a step by step guide with the conditions so i can begin to flash the miui rom
because as of right now im on a cynogen rom with 2.2.1 and everytime i go into recovery i wipe, then flash radio, and then reboot and then flash miui rom zip and the i get installation aborted like 2 secs into the flashing
plz help!
U don't have to flash radio before every rom ... just wipe data and cache then flash the rom and straight after u flash the language pack if ur talking bout the miuiandroid.com release.

What sort of failure?
Unable to flash? Or unable to boot?
You don't have to flash the radio. Just the rom should work.
Which Miui Rom is this?

Try flashing the RoM without radio, and make sure you have SD Card setup right 2 partition first Full fat32 second 1GB ext4.
Then try radio after ROM is working.

"E:error in /sdcard/MIUI_xJ_A2SD_1.7.22_2.3.4_final_signed(1).zip(status 7)

and then i tried the miui_Au.1.7.15-R2-signed.zip and it does the same thing >.<
Looks like a corrupted download. Did you check the md5 of the file?

1st: What type of HTC you try to update ? Accordig to this you should find your package.
2nd: Where you Download your files ? Try Re-download full package from official site. I find my radio package in Installation guide, where link to file is given and it is included together with other HTC drivers for Windows.
3rd: Wipe ALL available cache (Dalvik, user, etc.)
Also, for me worked first to install ROM, then Radio, and at last language pack.
If you are first time user like me, I suggest to upgrade to official version 2.3.4a. The only thing that will not work is FM radio and 720p recording. You'll have to wait for another official version. For beta versions there is no guarantee for anything (at the end it is beta, right) ??
If you are also Desire user, I can put here radio file if it is allowed, just for you.

http://forums.miuiandroid.com/forumdisplay.php?23-HTC-Desire-CDMA
MIUI 1.7.22
Installation instructions:
Download the version you want from the downloads above. Move to your sd card. If using a cmtd version you will want to make sure the mtd text file is on the root of your sd card. If using a prior cmtd replace the mtd text file or now make sure the file is on the root of your card.
For Standard version do a wipe followed by format boot and system. Then install the zip and reboot. If you don't get the default wallpaper reinstall or use a different one. Sometimes it shows sometimes it doesn't. Apps2sd will enable on boot with dalvik not moved also. It should pick up and start using apps2sd. If you want dalvik moved open terminal at type su enter. Then a2sd cachesd enter. If using adb type adb shell enter. Then a2sd cachesd enter.
For Cmtd with Apps2sd if using cmtd prior. Browse to the Miui-1.6.3-Cmtd-Bravoc folder if that is how you extracted the zip. Install miui remove recovery and reboot recovery proceeding with these regular instructions. Browse to the above folder or where ever you put the files. Install miui recovery and reboot recovery. It is a good idea to wipe and format boot/system. Though should be done with the install of the recovery zip. Your choice to do it or not. Then install Miui-1.6.3-Bravoc.zip when install is done reboot system. You should be good to go with nothing else to do.Apps2sd will enable on boot with dalvik not moved also. It should pick up and start using apps2sd. If you want dalvik moved open terminal at type su enter. Then a2sd cachesd enter. If using adb type adb shell enter. Then a2sd cachesd enter.

So I installed CWM recovery, and installed the rmk root setup zip. Before I installed it, I wiped the cache but not the Dalvik cache. When I rebooted, it hung on the white HTC screen. I went back into recovery and wiped dalvik cache, cache and even data and settings, then installed the zip again and it still hangs. can somebody help me? Honestly at this point I just want to be able to use my phone again.
Thanks in advance
Did you install the root zip that included the froyo stock kernel? I made the same mistake. Just have to adb a compatible 2.3 kernel into your sdcard and flash it.

i'm pretty sure this is the zip i used. if thats what you're talking about, then how do I fix it?
You cant use that .zip because it uses the Froyo kernal which is incompatible. You have to push jcase's GB kernal to your sd card then flash that.
I'm sorry for the stupid question, and thank you so much for your help, but where can i find that? and what commands do I use to push the kernel to the phone?
Have no fear as long as you can get into CWM then you are still good.
How long does it hang, sometimes it takes a few minutes for that HTC screen to go away, especially if you wiped data. you might want to wait, a little bit.
You can always download a stock rom(jcase plainjane rom), get into CWM, and then mount your USB to be able to install from your computer, and then flash the new rom.
Did you make a backup before you flashed the update, you can always recover.

If you can get into CWM, look for Mounts/Storage and mount your USB so you can access your Phones SD card from your computer, then transfer the file from your computer to your phone.
or use adb if you are familiar with that.
you did get S-Off first right?
yes i have s-off, no i did not make a recovery (i wasnt aware i could do that before i rooted but i have come to terms with the fact that I lost a bunch of data).
okay, so i put the file on my sd card and... what? is it a zip file? where can i find it?
just so i understand, once I get this rooted kernel, i will be rooted and i will be able to install the cwm app and go from there?
and i don't necessarily want the stock rooted... i guess i could go from there but for right now could i download a 2.3 kernel with a different rom? are kernels bundled with roms or do i need to install them separately?
sorry, i'm a new user so i keep having to wait 5 minutes...
Kernels, can be rom specific or bundled but currently for the dinc2 there arent a lot so make sure it doesnt say it belongs to a specific rom otherwise it might not work.
Jcase has a stock kernel and rom he put up a while back for gingerbread.
They will be a .zip file and all you have to do is using recovery choose zip file and run it, since you already deleted everything.
When you install a rom, it will add su and busybox, and root your phone. You need your phone rooted to be able to do anything, after S-off.
if you have recovery installed then you have CWM and really what you want is Rom Manager to do backups.

tiamat kernel is an AOSP kernel. for CM7/MIUI/OM(F)GB
you'll get bootloops if you flash it on a sense rom.
so should i flash that, then flash something like MIUI? can i do that? and do i have to wipe data/cache/dalvik before the kernel AND before i install MIUI?

It's non sense ROM.
I didn't like it too, so I just flashed sense rom.
Anyway, you can install any launcher you like, and use it as default one.
About google account.
That ROM doesn't have anything to do with google's apps, so you'll have to install gapps.
Find it somewhere, latest version is from 28.8.2011 I think.
It's .zip file, just flash it through recovery.

Can anybody help with CWM7 ?
I've tried to load this onto my phone but I keep failing. The app does not load. I cannot access any recovery, albeit standard or CWM. Everytime I try from the the bootloader screen and enter recovery, The phone gives me a Black Screen with a Picture and a Red Triangle in the middle and nothing else happens. I then have to reboot the phone.
Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something.
Is there a step by step guide to help make this work for me.
I have searched for a couple of days now and I cannot find anything that for me.
My phone is S-ON and Bootloader Unlocked via HTC-Devs.
Any help from you experts out there will be appreciated, even if it's just pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Hello forum-members!
I have a question I really want to ask: How can I update my Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 from stock 2.3.3 to CyanogenMod 9.0.0?
With CM9, I mean the version for Gio, as found on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173
At the moment, my mobile is like this:
Firmware: stock 2.3.3
PDA: S5660XXKPS
PHONE: S5660XXKPA
CSC: S5660XENKP1
Rooted using the update.zip-methode, installed Titanium Backup
ClockWorkMod-based Recovery v5.0.2.6 installed (But I still have a problem with it, it says things like 'E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command' and 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log', no idea if I have to fix this or not...)
So, how can I update this stock 2.3.3 to CM9? I only have a lot of experience with jailbreaking, but not with flashing ROMS and installing special Android tools, so a bit of step-by-step guide.
If you think updating to CM7 is better for me, since that's a more complete ROM, please say it, which CM7 ROM, and how it can be done
I hope someone is able to help me, as I would really like to use a nice ROM on my Gio
You should use cm7.2, its stable and fast..

Note that cm9 is not in beta 3 but alpha status.
You can flash cm7, same instructions as cm9, much more stable.
Try installing a different version of CWM and restore
Or read tutorials how to use ODIN and flash stock rom

I was already planning to flash CM7 now, but there was only one thing I was still wondering about.
The Cyanogenmod 7 instructions topic says:
NOTE:
It's not automatically wipe your data. if you want to install fresh rom, you must wipe data before install it!
If you from stock / custom rom based on rfs filesystem, u must flash ext4-formatter.zip before flash CyanogenMod. link & instruction can fount on This Thread. otherwise you'll stuck on android logo because it cant mount rfs filesystem!

Oh, that would be really nice! I bought my phone in my own country (The Netherlands) and my carrier is BEN NL (part of T-Mobile in The Netherlands). But if it might help: I posted my baseband version etc. in my first post of this topic

Cm9 booted??? All firmware is on sammobile.net , also kies firmwares, but the site is not connected to samsung
By the way if you used ext4 formatter zip you use an version of cwm wich has been removed back to construction to bugs, so you should use another one, in the same thread

Hello, i'm using htc desire with stock rom, 2.3 android os, And i started to think about newer android version on my htc desire. Which one is better for my phone, ice cream sandwich or jelly bean? Ofc i know that jelly bean is newer than ICS but maybe it is bugged or smth. And is there any bugs on ICS for desire? Is it the right choice to make my desire of newer android version?
Thanks for answers.
Right now, Jelly Bean is more developed than ICS.

Where can i find tutorial?
To install jellybean first find a ROM that you like in the dev forum. The ROM in my sig is nice.
Download the ROM and put it on your SD
Boot into recovery and wipe cache, dalvik, and factory reset/data
Then choose zip from SD and pick the ROM you downloaded

Now it seems much easier of your explain, thanks. But first i need to root it and i think that i need use revolutionary and still try to understand how. U know, for me, newbie, when its written pretty hard its confusing to make something bad and to break my phone.
And is this rom the right choice? -->>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
yes, you need to root your phone and install a recovery first. Revolutionary also gives you s-off which is good
Basically this is what you have to do:
-install drivers for your pc
-connect your phone and run revolutionary
-revolutionary will s-off your phone and install i custom recovery (i think cwm)
-download and copy the root.zip file onto your sd card
-boot your phone into recovery and flash the root.zip
-after all of that your phone will be s-off, rooted, and have a custom recovery
For all the downloads and more info look here:
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
Once that is done successfully you can then flash a rom.
The rom you linked is good, but after trying all of vijendrahs jellybean roms i found this one to be the best:

All the rooting/s-off/recovery stuff went well? Just wondering, did revolutionary install clockwordmod?
As for your gapps question, it doesnt matter.
The only difference is that if you choose a rom without gapps included, you will have to flash them seperately...not really that big of an issue though.
Heres how to install this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070704):
-download the rom and gapps package from the thread and put them on your sd card
-reboot into recovery
-make a backup
-click wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-advanced>wipe dalvik
-choose zip from sdcard
-choose the rom zip and flash it
-choose zip from sdcard again
-choose the gapps zip and flash it
All rooting/s-off and etc went well, now after all wipes im installing the rom and im little bit praying too

Hi guys,
I have a wildfire with hboot-6.01.1002 S-off and radio 3.35.20.10.
I had the gps bug, so I tried all the ways to fix it but without success. So I tried to reflash radio and just trying to flash older versions I found out that the radio doesn't get flashed.
I tried laptop method too but with win8 is impossible for my wildfire to get recognized and all the tricks seen on internet or on this forum don't work.
Ooops I forgot to say that from RomManager I downgrade to cwm 2.x, then I reboot the phone, but in recovery I see again cwm 5.x, so everytime I install from there the 2.x version and I flash radio, but at system reboot I find 3.35.20.10 radio again.
Could you help me pls?
ps. sorry for my bad english.

You can try to use a temporary 2.x flashable cwm zip file and flash it after a cwm recovery reboot: I have cwm 6 installed and reflashing the radio in this way I usually fix GPS and WiFi problems (I have to do it once or twice every time after I install a new ROM).

Hi, could you explain me the procedure?
Where do I find a temporary cwm?
--- do you mean install a cwm 2.x in recovery mode? It doesn't work, I wrote it in the first post too.
mate, you don't have to flash a new radio to fix the GPS issue.
Here's what I do,
#Turn GPS on in your current ROM, and wait for a stable location fix,
#while GPS is still on, power off the phone.
#Now boot into recovery and flash your new ROM
#now after flashing and booting into your new ROM you'll be able to use GPS again.
You'll have to do this everytime you flash a new gingerbread ROM or above..
if your current ROM doesn't have working GPS, just flash Sense ROM, the GPS will work. then do as I said.
I always though flashing radio's are a little risky, as this is a risk free method, I think everyone should use this instead..
cheers ...
upon latesxt
Every time I try a sense rom at installing point I lose screen, just some colored strips, do you remember 80 cabinet game before loading? if yes ... those ones
But that's really strange that i'm not able to flash radio anyway.

I'm guessing you're referring to RemPuzzle ROM which has Aroma installer.
yea Aroma installer does that on cwm5.
only way to fix that is to revert to CWM4 permanent ( untill you decide to go back to a higher cwm version.)
anyway try another sense ROM, like DK's custom ROM or similar ..
cheers..
I was just reading about DK roms, it has to be installed using a temporary cwm.
Just a curiosity: all newer roms are cyano based?

Yes, most gingerbread and up roms are usually bases on CM.
About the temporary cwm. Just flash it as a normal zip and you'd get temporary cwm2.5 , flash DK with that, after reboot you'll be back on your current cwm version.

Just a thing, I flash a sense rom, after that I wait gps fix and then I install cyano rom. But without wipe or format?
I ask that cause before I use Mtd partition procedure to have more free space, and without any format and wipe I can't do that.

No no... just wipe everything. And also the Dalvik cache. Then install the new ROM. After rebooting to your new ROM GPS would work.

Ehm .. dkmod roms failed to install cause "installation aborted", 4.6.2 and 4.7.
I tried joyOs but gps doesn't start. With Rempuzzle I have screen problems.
It seems I have to forget gps.
Flashing a radio requires at least 30mb on cache, so make sure you aren't using a custom mtd setup.
If its not the case, try flashing a 2.x permanent recovery and then flash the radio.

you got installation aborted msg with CWM 2?
Mate, then try CM6. its a froyo ROM. and can be flashed with any CWM version. and as I remember GPS works without any issues. get it from http://get.cm/?device=buzz
then try again my steps.
hope it'll work. Good luck
cheers..
Thanks, cyano6 works.

are you using custom mtd partitions?
if yes, there is an additional zip file to flash after flashing a new ROM.
I tried with higher mtd values but nothing, without mtd no problem, but without mtd this phone is useless for me.

If you have followed all the steps.correctly for custom mtd partitioning, it should work.
If it still fails, try link2sd, its an app. It moves apps to a separate partion in SDcard and saves internal storage.
But you have to partion your SDcard for that.
I suggest you should recheck if you followed all the steps correctly for mtd partioning. And remember to flash the bravo-boot.zip ( I don't remember the exact name) after flashing a ROM..

I'm sure I followed all the steps, but I'm gonna try again.
Further jellybread is now on (without mtd) but without gapps too and they're integrated in the rom.
Android is trying to make me crazy
