This should boot up fine and run ok the only thing i can thinkof causing a problem is the phone.apk i added if so i wont be adle to fix it unil imrooted because it will take alot of edits in smaili and such to getit to match our touchy radio....
Ill repeat what i said above do not flash this rom unless you can afford a loss if all goes wrong... you have been warned!!! hopefully ill get root soon and we can get out of beta but for now im relying on some of you if you are willing... I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your device
please do a full wipe and report any problems you may have
If this rom has a lot of problems i am going to stop blind building and wait for root.... i am mainly doing this for you guys to enjoy so fingers crossed

[DEV][SOURCE][z4mod] Introducing z4control APK

Hi all.
I am sharing a new git repository providing :
z4control : An Android application to control some system settings, most notably - implement a full/partial lagfix.
initramfs : A z4mod initramfs template for I9000 for kernel modders. You will notice it only contains a simple wrapper for init - all lagfix implementation is outside the kernel scope.
To use:
1. Either use a z4mod compiled kernel, or compile your own using the provided initramfs, or patch an existing kernel to use the z4mod initramfs using z4build.
2. Install the z4control apk and enjoy.
As always, everything is open-sourced and released under the GPLv2.
Some z4control screenshots:

I am terribly sorry the lack of documentation and further information. I will try to find the time to elaborate if no-one else will.
Check the links. They are funny...
What did you based the initramfs on?
**Using my own JPX kernel, z4mod, 346MB Ram and ext2 filesystem**
Does this support /system conversion? Thanks.

You can convert them all.
I have used this app for some time now and its safe to use i think its even better then the z4mod app.
But think that's only /data has power backup. So you can loose data on the other if you are unlucky.
I don't know how.. I still have no error and a have done a couple of wired stuff.. Lol

Hello z4ziggy,
I've used Z4mod Lagfix on my I9000B whith JPA and i have a 3G problem. For me, this connection did'nt work after apllied the patch.
I did unlagfix, restore RFS and Kernel, but the problem remains.Finnaly, I had to reinstal my rom, with Rom Manager, and only then the connection works again.
My phone shows a great performance after this lagfix, but i would like to know if is there some change, in this new app, about my related issue?
And sorry man, but where's the apk to download?
Thankyou
Cool.. the android application link does not work. Even if you take the extra http:// out.

Thanks for the info, and sorry about the inconvenience...
If i'm reading the log correctly, your /system partition was 100% full which prevented it from converting to ext2. Can you please confirm this by comparing the size of /sdcard/system.z4mod.tar and your /system partition?
the relevant lines from the log:
+ tar xf /sdcard/system.z4mod.tar -C /
tar: write error: No space left on device
If you will confirm my deduction, than I will try to add some check for future versions. Unfortunately, your only fix atm is complete reflash your rom. I am TERRIBLY sorry.
Hmm. Cant you do a function that check for this backup file and put that back?
Would be great if something goes wrong.
You could even use it for backup...

Don't worry for the inconvenience, I have lost only the score of Angry bird Season, I've a backup of the other app.
I had the JPB (froyo spanish rom) with z4root + z4mod that with it I changed my filesystem in ext2, and with your last app z4control I try to change the other partition in ext2 too.
The system.z4mod.tar size is of 282.890.752 bytes (269 MB).
I'm flashing my Sgs and now try again to convert my partition
Edit: Nothings don't work very well or I'm no good to use your app. I'm flash my SGS then put z4root 1.3.0 / reboot / z4mod 0.93 (patch the kernel, and flash the new kernel) / reboot / z4control and try to convert all to ext2 / reboot and nothing.

Ok, I've change my filesystem in ext2 with z4mod 0.93, in z4control I see that only the Data are in ext2, so I try to change DBData and System in ext2, reboot and start to change and all work great but when reboot I lost all again.

As I've said, apparently you don't have enough free space in /system which breaks your system once you try to convert it. either dont convert /system (after all, only /data radically speeds up your system...) free some stuff manually.
Can you please send me your /sdcard/z4mod.system.tar so I can take a look?
In my z4control app I don''t have the theme options as are shown in your screenshots.

[NS4G][ROM][CM7][WIP][UNOFFICIAL] Latest Nightly Working [TEAMWIN]

Time Has Come!!!
All the features I've been able to compile into CM7 for the NS4G will be available on the nightly published Saturday (5/21) evening (plus lots of nemith's fixes)!
Myself and other teamw.in members will continue to help out with the NS4G CM7 effort!
nemith is running the show as the NS4G CM7 maintainer! Lets support him!
We are all on irc.freenode.net in #NexusS4G. Feel free to join us!
Enjoy my last version (5/21/2011 - 1am)!
New Official CM7 NS4G Thread
One last link: cm_crespo4g_full-2-jk.zip
Added the libakm.so library for rotation. Should be in nightly 3.
Please use the official nightly releases for CM7 on the NS4G
Everything below this text is no longer supported.
Credits:
Toastcfh, toastcfh, and toastcfh ... plus teamwin !!
Background:
Hopefully I didn't miss this and somebody already posted! I don't keep up on the forums as much as I'd like!
Toastcfh gave me some directions on how to get cm7 compiling ... and the rest is teamwin magic!
I basically kang'd crespo files and referenced the supersonic (my previous phone) plus cm7 already grabbed most of the crespo4g files from the aosp commits. After all that it, compiling was downhill. I've got it booted and running on my NS4G for 45 min now.
I'm posting the .zip for everybody to test and try. I'm doing my best to push the changes I've made to CM7 so they can officially be included in the nightlies!
Sorry for the lack of details. Wanted to get this out to everybody as soon as I was able to confirm it works. I will update as the night goes on and tomorrow
Goal:
Get all my configuration and changes merged into the official CM7 for NS4G so all can build this ROM for themselves! Once there is a version of CM7 (might need a guide) for all users to compile, I plan to stop posting personal builds and redirect everybody to the official CM7 NS4G nightlies!
Nemith, the official CM7 maintainer is doing a great job helping me and all CM7 NS4G users!
Thank you everybody for the support and troubleshooting!

For those getting error 7 try this:
Get into recovery and see. if /system is mounted, unmount it first!.
If it isn't mounted mount and unmount
The trick is that if it can't mount then it will fail with error 7. So if you can't mount and unmount don't flash DoomLord's Rom yet
You need the FIXED recovery that DoomLord uploaded.
Now we have to fix the script DoomLord uploaded. Download DoomLord's fixed recovery and right click the install.bat file and select edit.
Near the end of the file there is the line that says reboot. erase that line!!
It seems there are times the reboot is too fast and the recovery install is interrupted. So we will have to reboot the phone manually.
Now save the file and run it. As you can see in the script's last lines they begin with the word su. That means it is asking for root. If your phone has root there is a chance a dialog appears asking for permission. say yes!!! if it doesn't ask maybe a toast message will appear saying "shell has been granted root permissions"
Anyway you should be checking your phone's screen constantly
If you see either the toast or dialog then we are fine to reboot and it will automatically enter recovery. repeat step 1 to verify if you can mount and unmount /system.
If you didn't see any of those then you might not have root and need to root first!
If after all this you can mount and unmount /system then you shouldn't have trouble to flash just remember to unmount /system before flashing the room.
That's it good luck.
Click thanks if I helped you.

- In CWM when it says mount /system, does it mean that system is unmounted?

Yeah for that you have to got into the zip /META-INF/com/google/android/ updater script and delete the assert function this line

save the script and flash again

Maybe but compiling with linaro right now is making the kernel crash because for the rest of the device my builds without linaro are running fine and for this device i am using the cm kernel nothing else...
and a recognized developer from another forum also confirmed me the same.. it was instructed to change the choice got example

The error you're getting it with the assert script. It checks that you're flashing the right ROM to the right phone. Assuming you have an at&t phone that shouldn't happen. However I did encounter it when I tried flashing a cm based ROM. It happened with a 4.3 ROM and I hadn't updated to jellybean bootloader yet. So have you done that already?

If you never did a true stock update to jellybean you may not have gotten the latest bootloader. The thread I posted has a zip to flash the latest bootloader but of course make sure you HAVE the AT&T brand s3. Flashing the at&t bootloader to the Canadian model will soft brick the phone.

i'm still getting the error
So i removed the assert lines of code, both the one above and the one looking for bootloader as i've seen elsewhere, to do this i unzipped the rom and edited the file and then rezipped. I loaded the file back to my phone's ext. sd and tried to flash again and im still getting installation aborted, except this time no reason why
"package_extract_dir("install", "/tmp/install");" is now my first line of code in the updater-script
any idea why i can't get this to flash, or perhaps a workaround, some say that editing my build.prop will allow me to flash, but my ro.product.device is d2att as it should be, not sure where else to go with this.

That error occurs due to an out of date recovery or a corrupt download. Try updating and redownloading.

7zip should work for repackaging as long as you aren't doing any weird compression settings. However my experience with scripts is it doesn't work right when you edit with wordpad. Best for editing any scripts and build.props is notepad++ that I've found for windows. Linux of course it much more straight forward for the whole process. You can just drag and drop when removing and replacing files in the zip and it's standard text editor works well for editing.
On a side note I downloaded from the link and just installed without problem. Let me know where you are and I may edit the updater script for you and upload so you can try it out.
Atm I put dandroid on because its a touchwiz base it seemed to install fine, I'll try editing the updater on my desktop I dual boot Ubuntu and 7 on it, I'll let you know how it works
