Is it rooted?
Either way give it like 5-10 min see what happens. Toggle airplane mode off then on..
May need to back up your stuff and do a reset

yes, i am rooted (CM7). ive tried to toggle airplane mode on and off but it sits there and does neither.
ADW Settings > Backup and restore? im completely new to HTC/rooting and im confused. i will be going back to Froyo soon...this isnt for me. TIA.

Did you restore data with Titanium Backup?
Try clearing data/factory reset

im not familiar with Titanium backup...he did use Clockwork mod...i really dont know what im talking about. sorry.

Have you tried a data wipe/factory reset?

will i lose data, apps..?

Hey man pm me and ill try to help. I'm at work for 8 more hours though...first thing is to download titanium backup and backup all apps. Then in your recovery you need to wipe data, and dvlik cache. Then flash cm7 again
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA Premium App

Yes. Hence data wipe lol. Install Titanium Backup from the market and backup your apps+data under menu -> batch -> backup. This is the most essential app for root users.
Then, after your data wipe, redownload Titanium Backup, menu -> batch -> restore -> missing apps. Then just restore your apps and the data associated with those apps.
Edit: I am currently unrooted, so my terms in TiBu may be a little different

how am i supposed to download this without internet connection on my phone? im at work and i cant do much here. i tried to download the latest nightly but its too large to send from my work email. i may be stuck until i get home.

Touche, I never thought about that.
Since you said "he" used CWM, I assume you did not flash CM7 yourself? Did you have your apps back when he gave your phone back to you? If so, you might already have TiBu.

i was able to download and transfer nightly19 to my phone via USB, rebooted and the good news is..airplane mode is OFF but i am not connected to the mobile network (although the data enabled box is checked).
i have MyBackup Root installed.

I'm not familiar with MyBackup Root, but am assuming it's like TiBu. Make a backup of your apps (and data for apps), then wipe data. When you go to restore with MyBackup, only restore apps and the data for the apps, not system data. Do this when you have wifi so you are able to redownload MyBackup, just in case it doesn't work.

im getting aggrivated. i just want to go back to Froyo minus all the bloated crap. this rooted life aint for me. let the research begin and hope i dont brick my phone.

Phone wont power on after wipe

I wiped my phone using calkukin format all and i pressed reboot and it wont turn on it just goes to the white screen with the 3 androids on the bottom every time i tell it to reboot
Format all wipes everything. There is nothing to boot into after that. You need to power off the phone, turn it back on while holding down the volume down key to get into hboot. Then go to recovery, mount the phone to the comp, put a ROM on your sd card, unmount and flash it.
It wipes system and boot as well as data, it's only meant for in between ROMs.
what does that mean that i cant turn on my phone????
Why did u turn it off?

You'll have to reflash or restore your backup if you have one. You completely wiped so, as said, it has nothing to boot into.
You can pull battery and get back to recovery, can you not?

Yes i can but i dont think i made a backup. im sorry im very new to this and I thought that it simply wiped the phone and took it to factory setting I was trying to switch from a ROM
It means you completely wiped your phone.. In other words no rom to boot up.. Do you have a nandroid? if so just restore from there.. Other wise you will have to flash a new rom
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
If you have a ROM to flash on your SD Card, follow my instructions to get to recovery and flash it. If not follow my instructions to get a ROM on there and flash it. FYI, ALWAYS make a nand backup before flashing something, that you way you can always get back on track easily.
Let me know if you need more specific instructions.

Yeah, it's alright, a learning experience. But you'll have to reflash the ROM if you don't have a backup ... you still have the ROM on your card right?
edit: do as stated above
PRO TIP (worth a repeat); always have a backup handy in case something ever goes wrong, be it a user error or bad flash.
ok i flashed a new ROM now it i wanted to get back to factory settings is that possible and how do I do a nandroid backup
What do you mean factory settings? Are you trying to unroot or just run a stock rooted ROM?

That's the stock rooted ROM, but if it were me, I would run Sprint Lovers over that.
Just go back to recovery, flash the format all and then the ROM. But I would do a nand backup first.

A full wipe, in preparation to flash a new rom would consist of wiping:
data/factory reset
cache
dalvik cache
boot
system
I always wipe everything 2 or 3 times. I also flash Calkulin's Format All after wiping all of the above. That might be overkill, but it makes me feel better before I flash a rom, lol. You get a completely clean start.

My definition of a full wipe using amon RA is EVERYTHING in the wipe menu except the SD card and when I flash a different rom, I wipe everything on that list with the exception of the card itself. Technically speaking, however, the list that k2buckley posted is correct.

If you tried to boot after wiping what I mentioned, you will either hang at the splash screen or it will boot you right to fastboot (not sure really though, as I've never tried, but it wouldn't boot, for sure). Since it wipes system and boot image, there would be nothing installed for you to boot into. Btw, I would avoid trying that lol.

That's crazy. Wiping everything like that is over kill. No need to wipe data as its all the apps that uve downloaded from the market. The only ones really needed are dalvik, cache, boot, and system. And I've only ever had to do it one time then flash a rom and it works everytime plus I have all my data and apps there still

He asked what a FULL wipe was. Not if it was necessary or required. And not wiping data when going from one rom to a different one (not an update of the same rom, but to a totally different rom) has ALWAYS left me with weird issues, such as wake locks, cm Widgets on salvage mod, reboots etc.
Oh well, we all have our own methods and rituals for flashing, lol. I will stick to my methods, and everyone else can use theirs.

I'm guessing u know this but have u ever looked at ur data folder with root exployer or what ever. The app folder might have 5-6 apps in it and the app-private folder holds the apps u dl from market. So wiping it in recovery makes little sense. I've flashed plenty of different roms without wiping data and never had a problem. Plus on an upnote all ihave to do is flash the roms and gapps if needed and restart and that's it. No need to sit there for an hour restoring apps or settings

[Q] Locked Up Phone Even After Reboot

My phone is pretty much locekd up, I can not go onto my phone to text, or call or whatever. It keeps saying "Sorry!" and I have the option to force close. When I press it another one comes up, non stop. It says "The application TwLauncher (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." And I press force close but it does not work.

Find wireless tether 2.0.7. It doesn't corrupt data.
What happened was a result of a "no journaling" ROM. You had an improper shut down, battery pull, phone drop or something that corrupted the data. To avoid this, when your phone is stable again, make a nand backup in CWM and then restore it right away. This will turn journaling on.

Downgrading JB to ICS (Possible Repost)

Sorry if it's a repost but I am trying to upgrade from T999UVLH3 to T999UVDLI3 but it fails as I have to go back to stock. What is the recommended way to downgrade to ICS from JB without wiping everything on my phone? or is there none? From what my search has resulted till now I will have to wipe everything, but i thought ill just confirm.
If i have to wipe everything then can i just use kies to do factory restore? I am using Mybackup to back everything up.

Don't want to sound rude in anyway but you really need to just put your phone down and do some reading. Or you are going to end up with a really exspensive paper weight. If you have not even heard of odin you should not be messing wihmth any modems or radios because the wrong modem will brick the **** out of that shiny new SIII. Like I said no disrespect and we were all new at this at one point. But just take some time and do some reading. Google can be your best friend and the more you learn the more you will end up getting out of your device

Look for "Media Storage" in the Applications manager list within System Settings. It will be under the "ALL" tab. Force Stop it then clear data and cache. If that doesn't fix it, disable it completely. You can tell that everything's been fixed if you open your Play Store without triggering a crash. Once it's fixed, you'll need to re-enable media storage again, and reboot.

TWRP restores everything including desktop but remember it will be same as on day you have created nandroid. Subsequently changes won't have in it.

Oh that's cool! So it really just screenshot the entire phone and restores back to when it was made?
Side note, each backup is almost a GB big, won't it eat up a lot of memory on your phone? As such, which options are best to select when using twrp? (eg efs, data, system)
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
Efs is just 20mb, needs when you have messed up imei, it is must in my point of view even if you don't want nandroid backup
data is backup of installed applications
System is ROM, which needs to recover device when you have got something wrong.
