So far I have been unimpressed by most of the launchers out there.
By far the best in my opinion for S2 is the free Go Launcher EX
I also have the go keyboard, go calendar and black icon theme installed.
Here's some screen captures.

Running on Orange UK stock but rooted
Very smooth in operation
Agreed. I am a paid Launcher Pro user since the Captivate but Go Ex has won me over for sure. VERY nice.
same here. i m using the same and i think its the best launcher out there. actually its a supremely modded version of touchwiz. i have more than 30 premium themes installed. but i think it drains the battery a lot. wat u think
Hey raze1000, please share your wallpaper. I really like it!
Wow! @raze1000, your customisations look really awesome!
Here ya go
Agree that this is the best launcher. I have paid launcher pro and ADW launcher but this sweeps the floor with both of them.
I really like Go Launcher too, but has anyone found a solution to the problem when you freeze apps with Titanium Backup, as it still shows the link in the app drawer albeit as a broken link and not the proper icon?
When you freeze in the stock launcher and other launchers it removes the icons.
Does anyone else have lag when sliding trough screens on this launcher please? I never had any lag on my old desire, and I have the exact same set up, such as widgets and amount of screens on both.

Just tried again. Does not matter which ROM or which version of Go Launcher (daily updates sometimes) whenever I freeze an app it leaves a dead link in the app drawer, even after resets or opening and closing the Launcher itself. You must have a different setting somewhere in the options maybe?
Just tried Go Launcher .. and my stand-by current went from 10mA to 70mA.

All u need to do is go into edit mode which is the mode used for moving apps around the app drawer! In order to go into edit mode, all you need to do is long-press any icon of any app in the app drawer. Then click on the small red cross of in the top right corner of the dead link and you will receive a notification that that this app cannot be found, and whether you would like to remove it from the app drawer. Simply click yes Done!

Would also known if somebody expect the same... Me using the launcher quite long, but if this should be true ...
WoW!
I like this clock widget! What is that? Is a Go Weather skin?
Thanks
I find the app drawer responsiveness to be better with Launcher Pro. I set it to fade in at the slowest value too, and it's smooth as anything.
The app drawer on Go Launcher EX seems choppy to draw and also tends to reload the icons on occasion. Also, the custom icons I use for the dock bar take a while to load on first boot whereas with Launcher Pro they're in place when the OS has loaded.
I only use Go Launcher EX because the widget resize option comes as standard where Launcher Pro must be paid for. I am using a 10 rows by 5 column desktop layout.

It installs alongside the default TouchWiz launcher so you can revert to the default settings if you don't like ADW.
The interface feels a lot smoother with this launcher running.

also how do you find the battery life with the launcher? heard it drains the battery quite a bit?
i have install the ADW Launcher, so how do i launch it, does the galaxy s do to be rooted?
No root needed to run ADW Launcher.
Next time you press the "Home" key you'll get the choice of completing the action with ADW Launcher or TwLauncher.
Edit: Also trying out LauncherPro beta.
On another forum someone suggested using "Home Switcher" to quickly switch between different launchers - available on the market.
i use LauncherPro beta and works nice on Sgs, and like you say one push on home and you can chose what launcher to go for.

How can you select the Samsung widgets in ADW?
Samsung widgets in ADW
I'm having the same problem. I like some of the Sammy widgets, but they seem to have disappeared once ADW was activated. Also, I can't seem to find a way to switch between launchers. Tried pressing the home key every way I could think of, but no joy.

Hey guys what launcher does everyone use? I love the app draw but with Google search and the large dock it seems to fill most the screen?

I use the standard launcher. Dont see the point in changing the launcher myself.
Adw
I'm using the above. Used to use launcher pro and this previously. This opens up a bit more screen, you still lose the top but can select no dock. I like a minimal look
Using stock atm. Have to admit laucnher pro looks awesome on the massive screen but I missed the stock app drawer eye-candy-ice-cream goodness...
I quite like that slidescreen pro but find it a little impractical.
I love the stock one, but the only thing that annoys me is the fact you can't delete empty home screens!
Using ADW Ex
ADW Ex, because I can customize it the way I want and because I can backup settings, handy when flashing ROMs and wiping data often.

Funny, thats exactly the way ADW looks like on my Transformer. Weird to have the App Drawer at the top left but I've adjusted. The developer was supposed to include options to hide the top section.
What I do, for the bottom dock, is use the Second dock. The second dock allows lots of icons. I think I have like 15 on my transformer's 10" screen. I just learned to use the built in app drawer icon at the top.
This might be awkward with 1 handed operation though.
So that strange section at the top is automatically added when you use a 3rd Party Launcher? What are the icons on the right side of it for? The one in the middle seems to be a gallery icon
ADW EX
Then go into presets, and select FAST
my goodness, this option brings another meaning to FAST!
I'm using go launcher because I didn't like the large dock and not being able to use the whole screen. The transition effects are awesome.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to post screen shots of the launchers used to give people an idea of how they look?
I'm not sure how to do it.
I go to the upload from gallery bit. it says
Upload via tap talk then it brings up some stuff with img and lots of numbers
Then I say submit and it doesn't do it?

What is this Second dock?

I've reverted to the stock ICS launcher after trying Go, which I'd use (and love) on my CM7 Desire. I like how slick ICS is, but would love to be able to choose the number of homescreens as well have them loop. The quick and tidy stock folder system is excellent, a real shame Go Launcher loses that.
Didn't like the action bar at the top of ADW EX on my Transformer, like it even less on a phone.
Hopefully launcher devs will throw themselves into ICS-centric products sooner rather than later. The modded Gingerbread look seems so old hat now!
I prefer the stock ICS launcher.
I'd like to be able to customize the number of home screens, but outside of that, it does everything I need.
I advise Go Launcher EX! ICS+Go launcher are working perfectly together
ADW had an update yesterday. It look spretty good. Personally, I don't favor the ICS launcher...
ADW EX has been updated for ICS. Now uses HW Acceleration. No more top bar...
This is just the vanilla launcher from 20120617 CM9 Nightly for Tenderloin (HP Touchpad). No features has been added (yet). Incase you don't know, Trebuchet is the name for the stock CM9 launcher. See screenshots below for differences:

There should be no dependencies.
However try integrating it into the firmware (it was designed to work from /system/app)- ICS does restrict launcher behaviour if it is not a system app (like for Apex- you can't put a widget from Drawer if it's a user app)

No, it is for all screen sizes (well, maybe except qvga but I didn't test this)
Like Trebuchet Concept, Looking Forward
Once I figured out how to use it, I kind of like the minimalist approach. Dragging app icons and widgets to the screens is much quicker than click, click, find, click, ... and the widget re-sizing dot feature touted in Jellybean is already there (but can be applied asymmetrically for some strange results).
However, this thing is still primitive. No properties except wallpapers.
I put on adw (former XDA launcher) just to have a more usable system. I do not look for fancy eye-candy like go. Just some simple properties like:
Grid density--I like fitting more icons on the page (I find the adw refitting not the best so leave that unchecked).
Along with this, might need the widget auto-refit idea from Jellybean.
Number of home screens (elementary).
Last but not least, a backup and restore.
Another interesting idea I got by accident in another launcher: superimpose icon over larger widget. When clicked, takes precedence, of course. Since screen real-estate, especially in smaller phones, is at a premium, this could be a "killer."
Two bugs I found:
Possible to place two icons in same place on app bar. Embarrassing.
Widgets did not "come back" after reboot sometimes.
Got a Nice Version!
There are multiple versions around for download, without any systematic way of choosing other than: The Biggest Has More Features Implemented. I found a 10 meg version in a flash-able zip that has most of what I wanted already there!
Still needs a backup and save, and important: way of resetting as the default launcher
The general widget re-sizing works great, even re-positioning to a halfway spot so the re-sizing makes sense. Great.
Minor bugs around:
The news and weather widget re-sizing works incorrectly. ADW does it fine.
Icon label text is cut off (at least on 5-row view). Vertical padding makes it worse. Needs be tucked in closer to the icon.
I might assume that a somewhat larger apk is around somewhere with more features and fixes. Once I can get it again as default launcher, I will play with it some more.
It did not passed on my 7 inch tablet :-( There is margins at the bottom and top with a height of regular icon size.

It looks ok, but the icons are way too small and the weather widget size (4x2) is smaller than home grid size (5x5) so it does not center.

Absolutely! Here's what I did. These steps are for those who don't know about Xposed Framework as well.
1. Make sure that Xposed is installed (the framework, not just the apk), download App settings module from the Downloads section within the app. Go back to the modules section, and activate the checkbox for App Settings.
2. Reboot. (It is recommended that you reboot for the framework to be installed for the changes to take effect. While this is true, I reboot after my modules are downloaded/activated. If not, they would require a second reboot as well.)
3. Navigate to "TouchWiz home" in App Settings. Switch it from Off to On, and change the DPI value to a resolution that you find suitable, and hit save. I use 460 for this launcher, and various values for different apps that I find is a waste of screen real estate (like 280 for the Play Store, and most of the Google Apps).

You can try "Weather & Clock Widget Android".
Out of fairness I just gave the Touchwiz homescreen interface another look. I honestly cannot imagine why anyone would choose that interface over the other far more full-featured, lag free and robust launchers available. I mean Touchwiz doesn't even have a scrollable app doc at the bottom of the screen. Using a quality launcher is as close as you can get to running a custom rom without being rooted. Sure its fine for users with no desire to customize and keep things very basic but come on, its weak sauce.
I dont know how but the TW weather widget works fine for me on the nova.. it dosnt work on my s4 though.

Well I've always hated TW and used launchers like NOVA and my current one, APEX on the Note 3. Now, I am liking the TW so far on the TAB S and still running it. I like the magazine screen and if there were a way to use that on one of those other launchers I'd probably switch. Only lag I've seen so far on TW is when scrolling to the left for the magazine screen.

1st you have to make sure you are running a different launcher like Nova. Then you can either freeze it with TB or Uninstall it. I Uninstaller mine to free the space up. Also removed all the magazine crap and quick briefing.
i have no lag and for the first time really like the Hancom Viewer as well as the Quick Briefing page. i 110% dont think it should be forced on us but would activate if it was.
infinite scroll would be my main request as well as possibly more rows and columns
Well now I am using Nova on the TAB S. After some persistent lag I decided to abandon TW. I tried Apex which is flawless on my Note 3 but it's very laggy on this tablet. Nova has been real smooth so far.
