Omnia 7mp3 ringtone-workes for me - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Hello all -for all interested then trythis it worked for me--
riht click in your mp3
pick "properties"
change genre to "Ringtone"
then transfer normal with zune
go to settings and change the tone
it showed up on my phone under "custom"
like i saId -worked for me

Just out of curiosity was your file longer than the 40 second and 1 meg limits?
It doesn't work on my focus unless the file meets the limitations.... which is weird because in NODO you can have any file as a ringtone.

Need a decent loud, simple ringtone ...

The supplied ringtones are useless. I've lost count of how many calls I have missed - I just can't hear them. To me - all the latest ringtones are nowhere as good as the old fashioned 'ring-ring' that used to be standard on most cellphones.
Anyone got a good replacement ringtone, one that is loud, simple (ring ring or similar) and easily available ?
Thanks
Mark
Something like this?
You can also edit a wav file and crank up the volume

Very nice - but I wouldn't call that simple
Whatever happened to the goodl old fashioned ring-ring ?
Mark
try this
I had the same problem, and my solution was to modify the "Old Phone" tone (taken from an SE T610) to a "double-ringtone", put it 6dB louder as original and converted it to .wma. I'm very happy now, since I use this ringtone I've the most time the volumecontrol 2 dashes down the maximum!

simple basic ringtone
I see there are a few posts with tones in files. If your looking for something to download one option is http://www.justringring.com
Hope it helps, Jon
I think the coolest thing to do is open a mp3 with audacity and chop it down a little bit then use a mp3 encoder to downsample it so its smaller, then encode it to WAV. It's so cool to hear Survivalism by Nine Inch Nails blast out of my phone when I get a call. Not simple, but the result is just AWESOME.
oldphone, oldphone2, btdoldphone, oldstyle............ Why only old style tones can be better and louder???? post some new style tones as well..

Change standard alarm sound

Hi there,
I can't figure out how to change the regular/standard alarm sound to one of my own. I did manage to change the SMS sound to one of my own, so I thought that the procedure would be the same. Putting the mp3 in the \Windows directory, but that doesn't work.
I did see that all the alarm sounds are either .WMA or .WAV, so I changed my alarm sound to a .WMA and put it again in the \Windows directory, doesn't work either!!!
I have this personal wake up sound with my name in it and I'd like that to be my alarm sound, does anyone know how I can do that?
Where do I have to put the audio file?
Any help is much appreciated!
Rgds,
Albert
Edit: I just tried adding the .WAV audio and now I can see it in the alarm sounds, but when I chose my sound it just jumps back to the default sound, not letting me chose my personal sound. Oh this is so frustrating........I hope someone can help me......
you can try Pocket Wakeup... with it you can use mp3 files... it's so cool!

Your file can only be so long, not sure what the link is but shorten it, that should fix your problem

...or pTravelAlarm!
Thanks for the replies.
I'll give those 2 programs a try since I don't want to shorten my audio file......
It's 6-7 seconds long (don't really remember) and basicly it's a tune that says my name and tells me that's it's time to wake up.....hehe...
I'll let you guys know if I managed to fix my prob.....
Edit: Ok I just installed pTravelAlarm v2.7.3 and [MOD EDIT: Don't Mention WAREZ]
Now I've my mp3 file as my alarm......perfect!!
I couldn't find the pocket wakeup to download........I got this french site and it didn't work.....
but don't need it anymore........pTravelAlarm works great and I like the fact that it uses
big number and the stop and snooze buttons are big enough to push with the finger.
Thanks Athanaso77

Thanks for the file!!
I tried to upload the cab file but I keep getting an error........I tried to compress (rar) the cab + keygen into 1 file but it says incorrect file or something like that.....
So here is the keygen for v2.7.3, just download it and use this keygen.

Alarm and Ringtones MP3

Is it possible to use my own MP3's as a ringtone/alarm?
Tried copying them into all kinds of directories and didn't get to choose them in TF3D
create a folder on your storage card called my ringtones (same name as the folder on the phone) put them in there and they will appear in the ringtone list
Thanks that worked for the ringtones.
Now only the alarm isnt cooperating. Any ideas?
try to copy the mp3 to your \Windows Folder
I think it has to be a Wav file, and I think there is a maximum file size too, but I am not 100% sure.
Well thats a step back... my S710 could do MP3's no problem :-/

Oh well at least on the kaiser I think it does have to be WAV, and they are both wm 6.1, maybe it is because the S710 runs wm standard, or maybe th touch pro 2 does play MP3, but then again I did say I wasn't completely sure....
Have a google for KaiSoft MP3Alarm, it will do the trick for you, and allows you to browse to any file.
Cheers,
Beasty
I got myself Klaxon
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-klaxon.html
Supports MP3's FULLY integrated in TF3D. And has some bonus abilities like shaking the phone=off, snooze = turn phone over (each with feedback via vibra) etc
Its even "thumbflick friendly"
I believe the development of Klaxon has been cut off. I think you would be better off with G-Alarm (though, that too has turned to payware recently, but you can still get the free 1.5.1 version that works perfectly - at least it does for me) which has all the same functionality as Klaxon and then some.

To change the ringtone you just have to put your favourite mp3 in windows/rings (on a German phone). Doesn't work for text messages though. On other windows mobile phones, you had to convert the mp3 in wav or wma, put it in the same place and they would show up in the text message alert list (I've done it myself and it worked). Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work for my tp2 right now. Any ideas, especially for individual text message alerts?

Some General Touch HD Questions

hello, i got my Touch HD (Yay) and im loving it, but i have some questions that i hope some of you may be able to answer:
1. the sound volume for ring tones and message tones even when on loudest is quite quiet - is there anyway to boost the sound
2. where do songs that i want for my message tone go? ive found where ring tone ones go
3. is it possible to set a ring tone specific to a person?
4. as above but for message tones
5. i have some apps and games that i have downloaded (fingerboard is one of them) but when i try to install them i get the opera icon and it tries to access the internet instead of installing the app - i extracted them before putting on memory was that wrong?
6. where can i download Pac Man and Space invaders - i just love these games
i think thats it for now, i may find more questions that i might need answering
1- Is the Volume to 100%? You could try some different ringtones: I have volume to 80% because it too high when ring
2- Windows folder: if it's like past WM version the sms sound must be short, the device will ring to end of file else (I don't use personalized sound for sms).
3- Yes, I'm using Yota Contacts but it's possible (or you could install Yota Contacts cab)
4- I don't but I don't think possible (maybe some app do it)
5- Copy *.cab on SD and tap over it without unzip it (if *.exe sync the device with PC then 2click on PC)
6- Google

2 i set it to storage card root seems that Touch hd looks for all music files on the rom and card
3 yes (speaking about Miri rom and WM 6.5 - dont know if in other ) wneh you edit contact you should see "ringtone" option between "email" and Adress options ( manila 2.1)
4 not possible ;/
5 be sure that its for pda touch hd (and in .cab format)
6 pacman ? http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1339
space invaders ? http://www.google.pl/search?q=space...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
google game name + PPC should return something
okay thanx, i will ahve to try seeing if other ringtones make it louder, as i have it 100% but it still seems a bit quite could someone also direct me to what software they use to make songs louder for their phone?
as for the programs that display opera - most of them were programs that i got from this site ! these are as follows:
1. Rhodium RSDialer
2. Fingerkeyboard (version 2 i think)
3. a dark looking taskbar (cant remember what its called - but i know i got it from here)
so what am i doing wrong? or did i download the wrong links or something?
would installing this Yota contacts would it overwrite the Spb Mobile Shell 3 contacts as i like that as i can have images for the people i have on my phone (well i havent added them all but dont see why i couldnt)
thanx for all the help though
HD Tweak should be one of the first things you install, amongst tons of things there's also an option to remove the 100db volume limit
here are FKB and HD Tweak, download directly to storage card or copy from pc, open File Explorer, find files and tap them, they should start installation and ask where to, FKB to Device, Tweak as you like

thank you SO much, where can i get it?

i've added it to the post
HTCaddicts cleanRAM is another option
also, make sure u read installation guides to all things, some, like taskbars, require this file i attached, you install it only once and then you're good to go....until you hard reset or flash, then you need it again of course
okay thanx. i have HDTweak i havent installed it yet, will get that file you added as well
also i seem to get a couple of messages saying that my network hasnt been found or something,
i know its got to do with the internet but i dont need it (i think) as i will be using WIFI how do i stop the message appearing.
i also get a message thing about a dialer thing but im not too sure what that one is about, any ideas?
also my screen doesnt turn on its side when i rotate thew phone - is this normal as i thought the phone could do that
3. is it possible to set a ring tone specific to a person?
4. as above but for message tone
Use Ringo software.
...also my screen doesnt turn on its side when i rotate thew phone - is this normal as i thought the phone could do that
Use Gsen or Changescreen
okay thanx for the tips, i will have a look at them -ive seen the screen changer thing but i thought the phone could do that automatically - i guess not
also something a bit strange - i keep get messages either sms/mms or email though they are to someone with a different number then mine - any ideas?

How to silence camera?

Is there an easy way to suppress the sound effects when using the camera?
Doh! Sorry - I just found it on the 2nd menu options page of the camera app...
Where? I'm blind?
Call me stupid, but I don't see the sound options in the Camera settings. I too am looking for a way to silence the camera sounds when taking pictures.
In the Camera settings, go to the Advanced Options. On the 3rd page is a "Shutter Sound" option.
Just a FYI
Hey there!
Well is you have the Telus version YOU ARE SCREW like me
the option is not there
but I found that if you call your voice mail and take picture at the same time, you will get the sound from \windows\shuttersound.wav witch is quiet compare to the rom one.
I did try to delete the file but it keep getting copy over after a softreset
good luck men

I have an unlocked device so I can disable the sound via the camera app settings. But for those of you who can’t, perhaps you can try messing with this registry entry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General\DisableShutterSound
If it doesn’t work, place the unzipped attached file into your Windows directory. It’s just a blank wav file (created by opening Windows Sound Recorder and clicking “Save as” without doing anything).
If it still doesn’t work, then maybe you’ll need a wav file recorded with a second of silence…
Thanks but..
Thanks for the reply but that is not working.
I still wanna use the stock phone for now.. but one day I will jump the fence..
I did Try the registry change(S) .(went all through all the reg. to find out something else) deleting reg word and folders (not the greatest solution but i was trying...
had to hard reset 2 times.
I did try to install about 6 others HTC camera cabs..from tp hd etc custom software
I deleted the .wav file I did try to replace it with a silence file. but a soft-reset will re put it back
don't worry about it.. I did try and I FAILED
Canon ftw

I will look for the reg setting but if you find it before I do then you can change the sound path from windows\shuttersound.wav to windows\none and that should work. when I find the reg setting I will make a cab for it. should be tonight but if not then I will post it in the am.
Ok here is the cab. Try it and let me know. It does not silence it totally but it only leaves a small click

Hello HTC Friend,
I did try your Cab file ... and I still have the "Big" shutter sound + the CLICK from telus. I did try many others "cab file" to remove the shutter without success
The "work around" I found use the windows sound file but it really not a good solution to call your voice mail and then get your pic.. ( often too Late)
I did saw the windows\******* in the past (the reg changed was done) noting happen
It look Like TELUS overlap the "windows/HTC" camera function.
What really bugging me is That I CAN'T find the "occ/wav/mp3/midi/audio" file that generate the shutter sound (w/total commander or explorer)
Is it possible that the file would be hidden in The ROM ? and Can't be change unless you move to a custom rom ?
I "kinda" scare to change my rom .. I really depand on my phone.. ( no line at home and I need it to open the door of my App) So I really need something 101% working.
Thanks for you help

I tried the cab, but it does not work on my TP 2, which is the Australian version. I have tried to play around with many reg edits but nothing is changed. Somebody in the other forum managed to modify the camerarc.dll for the Touch HD and Touch Diamond, and it worked for those phones. I wonder if there has been a DLL modification for the Touch Pro 2 version as well?
You may check this thread on modifying the DLL file on ther HTC model to silence the sound.
