[MOD][RECOVERY][2011-08-19] Custom CWM-based 4.0.1.4 - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

This modified recovery is basically a re-compilation of j_r0dd's clockworkmod (CWM) recovery modifications for the Nexus S, with a few minor tweaks. His major changes are the reorganization of the menu items and removal of the multiple "No" entries on the confirmation screens (which are a PITA without a trackball/optical pad like the Inc1 has). You can see the details in his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686
Additionally, I have added the following tweaks:
- removed "Go Back" from main menu (cosmetic, but it bugged me)
- added "Reboot Bootloader" option to Advanced menu (thx zyonee)
- added "Wipe Everything" option to Wipe menu
Due to popular demand, I have compiled it in a few different colors. If there's a custom one you'd like, PM me with the request.
All zips are flashable via the BOOTLOADER/FASTBOOT -- NOT FROM RECOVERY! Simply copy the file to the root of your sdcard, rename to PG32IMG.zip (just delete the '_version_date_color' part from the filename), then reboot into the bootloader. AGAIN, DO NOT FLASH THESE FROM RECOVERY, IT WON'T WORK. Reboot into the BOOTLOADER (hold VOL-, press Power while turned off), hit Power to select BOOTLOADER, then follow the prompts.
When finished, delete/rename the P32IMG.zip file or next time you boot into the bootloader it will try to flash it again.

You're probably not in root of SD card. Just phone root. If you have file explorer or titanium you can see what path you need to CD to to run those commands. Hope this helps.

+1, but green first

I'm out of town for the week so won't be able to compile any more til the weekend, but just LMK the RGB value of the color you want and I'll knock them out when I get back (and make them HBOOT flashable too)

+1 Thanks!
This is much better for the DInc2
Its not too bad on my aria with the track ball but using the volume rocker to mover around multiple menus stunk.
wouldn't mind a color like this

Question... Will this fix my problem with my stock backups not restoring? I've tried ver 4.0.0.4 & 4.0.0.8. restores boot ok then script fails when restoring "system" in recovery. Never even gets to data.. Really pissing me off! I backed up with 4.0.0.4 I got from alpharev during s-off method, & backup files are big enough to be full backup but just will not restore... :/

no idea, this is essentially a "nightly" build, and you'd have to look at the commits on github to see if there's been any changes/bugfixes that affect backup/restore. I haven't heard of anyone else having issues with restoring backups made with the AlpharevX-provided CWR 4.0.0.4. though, and I don't have any older backups to test here.

Well I guess I should've clarified..
I backed up stock immediately after rooting, opened rom manager & it said update available. Without thinking I updated. I flashed an unstable beta rom then couldn't restore backup.
Went back to rom manager & downgraded to older recovery that matched one I got from alpharev but I don't know if it's the "same" one. Still no luck, flashed cm7 & everything was fine, restored latest recovery & backedup
Cm7.
Tried to restore stock again, no luck, then couldn't restore cm7 backup? Started from scratch & left it alone.
I just thought with these custom vivow recoveries being made maybe this system is just unstable with others? Sorry to be a pain I'm learning as I go here so eventually I won't be a pain anymore ;D
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App

Answer will prob still be the same just thought I'd throw it out there in case it helps. I really want to understand all this rooting flashing & modding stuff, I'm eager to learn just looking for a little help

I have been working on this ROM since October. Took a while because of the image converting (xhdpi to hdpi). It's about 80% finished. Works as a phone finally so I figured now I can post on XDA. If anyone wishes to help me make this a fully functional port, please do; i'd appreciate it ^>^

Follow through setup without setting up accounts just yet.

Install Sd-ext partition for EU Rom version users
______________________
Have an ext2/3/4 (1Gb) partition on your SDCard if you're flashing the EU version that is about 1024MB (1GB) in size. If not, now is the best time to do it. Here is how:
-Backup your SD Card,
-Go into the Recovery Menu,
-Go into the Advanced Menu,
-Go into the Partition SD Card Menu,
-Choose 1024MB then whatever you want for the Swap Size.
Install from beginning
______________________
Step One: Flashing MagLdr
Use MagLdr 1.13 (This is what I use) in the Recovery file.
Enter SPL via holding down the Volume Down while booting the phone.
Plug usb to your phone.
Run the RomUpdateUtility.exe and the setup will guide you.
Step Two: Flashing Recovery
Your phone will reboot (If not, pull battery and)- Hold in the Red Power key while it boots.
Once you see the MagLdr screen, let go of the Red Power key and use the Volume down or Volume up key a few times until you're on USB Flasher.
Press the Green Phone key.
Run the Daf.exe
This will take you through a few steps on the computer.
Your phone should boot again.
Step Three: Flashing my ROM
Hold down the Red Power key until you see the MagLdr screen.
Let go of the Red Power key and use the Volume up or Volume down key to scroll to 8. AD Recovery. Press the Green Phone key to select.
Scroll down to and choose wipe data/factory reset. When finished,
Scroll down to and choose install zip from sdcard. On the next screen,
Scroll down to and choose zip from sdcard. The next screen will bring you to your Sdcard. Navigate to where you put my ROM and choose it with the Green Phone key.
Scroll down to - Yes - Install Pure.Trib.Rezound.EU.Mag.1.00.605.3.v2.6 and choose it with the Green Phone key.
Thanks

Good work, man. Will try this today.

please make a video for this build.
So I will try this evening (French Time...) and see the lower recovery I can use for Eu version...
Ok ...
I did a clean Install from beginning:
Taks29, recovery 5.0.2.6, EXT4 (1024/64), after install reboot and Fix Permitions, and a few more restarts.
Free memory - 76 MB
Now:
Flash Player - works
WiFi - works
Beats - works
----------------------------
Hot Spot - make hot restart
After reboot gives me to unlock the sim more then 1 time, and after that pop up message - "com.android.process" has stopped.
I can't change the wallpaper, a can't even see them.
Camcorder - very laggy.
----------------------------
That is all for now!!!
Great work.
Thanks
It seems that there is a yet another fabulous rom!
I have a favor for you - Do you mind if you make rom with other kernels such as RCMix?
Due to Raf kernel's property, MAC address is fixed to 00:90:4C:5C:xx:xx, however, my access point doesn't accept the MAC address starts with 00.
I made a Calibration file patch, and applied with recovery, it was useless.
Cant install ..
error in /sdcardpure.Trib.Rezound.EU.MAG.1.00.605.3.v2.6.zip
(Status 0)
tried downlaoding again but same error ...

@DooMLoRD
Have you considered to get your CWM based recovery actually on CWM ROM Manager?
Auto Installation would be sweet for something like this for allready rooted users. and much easier to update aswell.
Might be a consideration. I would certainly donate for that to happen. ;D
Just flashed this. Runs good, su works as expected, overclocking is good to have, but I'll probably stick to default or even underclock a bit.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Edit: wrong thread, derp.
How about make console runs in recovery mode? With console, we can browse and delete apps in recovery!
The OpenRecovery for Motorola Milestone has this feature!
Thank!

we dont have dedicated recovery partition... so we cant use any app to flash it...
also only officially supported devices get official CWM from ROM Manager (its limited only to releases by Koush)...

Something I came up with the other day: maybe put the recovery fs in a separate file? Then we can change the ramdisk to either load android normally or mount the recovery image like a ramdisk and boot it. This way any kernel (as long as it supports this method) can coexist with any recovery. Also means we could probably use recovery to flash kernels because it runs from RAM so there's no risk of breaking the recovery.

we already did those things for X10, ARC... point is where will u keep the recovery file? if u keep it on /system then its not a true recovery as formatting /system will remove it... and in case of "bad flash" u will be left with no access to recovery...
so we have done the next best thing... integrated recovery into kernel... we use this for all xperia devices...
If I install the recovery with ROM Manager, also install automatically the Kernel?
Are there any requirements to install it?
Thank you!!

installing recovery from ROM Manager is ONLY supported for devices which have dedicated recovery partition and the ones which officially supported by Koush...
only way to get recovery is to flash kernel containing recovery via fastboot

The idea is to keep the recovery on /boot, but make it possible to run a custom image from /system.

Xperia are a bit of a pain in the a**...
anyways u all will be happy to know that we can finally flash kernels from recovery/OS to boot partition of this device (Xperia S)...
i have tested and it works well!!
Creating a new file called .hidenandroidprogress in the clockworkmod folder should speed up the nandroid backups eg:
/sdcard/clockworkmod/.hidenandroidprogress
-smc

[CWM][Fastboot][CDMA/TORO] Clockworkmod Recovery 6.0.1.0

Hello Guys .. this is clockworkmod v 6.0.1.0 By Koush
Now It's The Final build
Here is what Koush said on his G+ Account
ClockworkMod Recovery 6 for Galaxy Nexus
... has been released on ROM Manager.
Changes:
New backup format that deduplicates data between backups.
Faster backups.
Fixed restores > 2GB.
Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)
Future:
In the past, I have merged/rebased every CWM with AOSP. With Jellybean, I have decided this is no longer in the best interest of the project. There are only a few areas of AOSP recovery that are of interest (roots.c - file system, minui, and updater). Those will continue to be merged into CWM. Other than that, doing a full rebase with every code drop has been a giant headache, with the code churn from upstream that providing little to no value to CWM.
In any case, this unties my hands to deviate completely from AOSP, with the primary goal to make a much more polished touch UI.
ROM Manager
ROM Manager is a little over 2 years old, and though it has grown in features quite a bit since its first incarnation, parts are starting to show its age. I've been contemplating a significant UI rewrite for some time now, and will pull the trigger on that shortly. I also want to add in some features that I am hoping will be of some interest:
* A paid ROM section for devs to publish their work and support their hobby.
* Upload your current ROM to ROM Manager for anyone to use, from the device.
* Connect ROM Manager to the Recovery Builder for automatic updates of recovery. No device left behind
Speaking of the Recovery Builder; it has been pleasantly successful. To date, around 1700 recoveries have been built. Many for devices ROM Manager currently does not even support.
Anyways, if you have any suggestions for the future of ClockworkMod products, please drop me a line!.

Here Koush explains how the new CWM method works that makes the backup files so small in size
New ClockworkMod Backup Format
TL;DR:
Don't delete /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c6337ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c6337ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.

I hold no responsibility if it blows up your phone, but I've tested each one before uploading. So enjoy and thanks to D3vious for the OP.

Thank you for posting this. The previous version didn't work well on my end. One press on the volume keys made the selection jump around and sometimes not even register the selection when selected and produce a black screen.
6.0.0.1 works great. I'll flash the touch when i get home.
I wish there was an app like Flash Image GUI that i used for my Evo 3d for the G-NEX. Unfortunately that's way beyond my abilities to cook up. If someone did it would be a money maker. Unless there's a way to trick Rom Manager into flashing the touch recovery

When in the Touch recovery when I go to reboot my device I get this screen that says:
"ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix? THIS CAN NOT NE UNDONE."
The usual multiple NOs and a "YES - Disable recovery flash"
What does this mean? Do I choose yes? or keep hitting no or Go Back when I reboot?
I flashed using the CWMR Touch app which can flash IMG files
Also my background is grey not black?
Maybe I should give it a try.

Works great but now when I reboot from recovery it throws up another menu and talks about stock recovery. Is this something I can delete from the recovery. I just want it to reboot with no warnings. If this is a new feature then that's fine. I am OK with it I just have never had this option and it reboots whether I click go back or yes

Use ROM manager
I did read somewhere you can put it on your SD card and use terminal emulator but have never done it myself. Sorry.
Is anyone else having problems backing up the blobs folder to your PC? Whether I use the Backup SD Card option in the toolkit or just try to drag and drop in Windows it fails to copy.

Uninstalled Rom, don't have zip on sd. Help!

Ok, so I thought I still had the zip on my device after not being able to recall my gesture pattern lock. I could still access the device by logging into through my google account however I couldn't change the lock itself without doing a system wipe.(To my knowledge)
So now I'm stuck in TWRP with no rom to flash to my device, when I connect my nexus 7 to a notebook (win7) I do not get the MTP connection to drag and drop a rom over.
Everything I seemed to try in the ToolKit as well has been unsuccessful, can someone give me a step by step on how to push, flash, install PAC back onto my device and remove this headache of mine.
Thanks in advance!

For future reference, I think you can send and email to your google account to reset your gesture lock.
If you want to flash a rom onto your device just use the toolkit. Should find what you need in Advanced utilities.
Where is the advanced utilities in the tool kit? you must have the wording wrong.
Wish I knew about the reset prior to the this mess >.<

TWRP works with adb. Plug it in to your computer with the adb tools installed, run adb devices, you should see it listed. Change to the folder with your ROM zip, do adb push <rom>.zip /sdcard and it'll be on your device. No fuss, no muss.

There we go, I had to use a different link in order to download the Minimal ADB And Fastboot Kit.
From there I was able to push the rom onto the device no problem what so ever thanks everyone!

For some reason the link you provided for ADB and Fastboot doesn't work. My device does show up as a ADB device in the device manager. However I'm still unsure how exactly I push or flash a rom from the notebook to the device itself.

Yust use this command:
Code:
adb push (your rom file name) /mnt/sdcard/
Then go to flash menu and you will se your rom in your internal sd card
Ok, so I managed to re-flash my rom back on no problems at all. But problem with that is the gesture lock is still active.
Can someone give me a method to remove this from the account?

Have you read the thread what so ever..?
Yes the device is rooted, it's running PAC Rom newest Nightly.
The issue is, everytime I load the device I get the gesture lock which I don't have the correct information to. I want to reset the password back to a pattern or pin. Cause as of this point it requires me to login to my google account every time I fail to put the gesture in, meaning unless I have access to the wifi zone my device can't be logged into.
You need to install cwm recovery mode. You need to download aromafm1.80.zip file from net. It will be 1.4 mb. Place the file in external SD card. Go into recovery mode. Mount all partitions in advanced section. Then go to the file in SD card in recovery mode and flash the zip file there. Aroma file manager will open. Then go to data/system/gesture.key and delete that key. And reboot device. Pattern will appear but if you draw any pattern., the device will be unlocked

Hey thanks for your tutorial! i have a question though.
Do i have to remove the batery to get in fastboot mode? I'm saying this because i can get to the bootloader menu and select fastboot just by powering down my phone, keeping volume down + power pressed. I did'nt have to remove the batery to see the menu you are saying. So is it the same or do i have to remove the batery??
Thank you

Is there any custom rom for HTC Desire with full root as by the method stated I was able to root 1 time even without installing Supersu.I dont know which conflicting app i installed i lost root access then i tried but fail,Then i flash custom Rom from here BUt not getting proper root access.
no there are only Russian custom ROM... I know Russian and 4pda says there no more ROMs yet
We'll probably have to wait until the Desire 300 gets its own category
Please change the app from supersu to the non-cwm superuser app, and bundle busybox with it.
The desire 300, as a few people have stated, doesn't like supersu, and even with root, you can't change files on the Rom. It only deletes them.
Also, you can disable fastbooting in the power menu in settings.
Just scroll to the bottom.

I have had SuperSU on my Desire 300 for a couple of months, I have never had a problem with it. Files can't be changed on the ROM because the device is S-ON which means /system is write protected, even when /system partition is remounted as rw any files deleted will return on reboot.
A way to modify /system with S-ON is to do so from CWM with ADB or with aromafm.

Does anybody else have a bug with CWM having its graphics offset about 20 pixels or so to the left and reappearing on the right hand side of the screen?
Each press of the cursor swaps between this and perfect.

There is a patch for it, but it hasnt been converted for the desire 300 yet.
