You can wipe battery stats from a file, I just don't remember what it is. My question is if I want to switch to a new rom, can I backup and restore it and not have to calibrate my battery?

From my understanding, what youre saying is that you have a current rom now. And if you back that up, flash to a new rom, and then go back to the rom you backed up do you still have to calibrate?
I believe your battery stats are saved when you back up, so I doubt you do, but for best results calibrate it .. especially because your phone dies different every day because you use it differently, so once a month, even with the same rom wouldnt hurt to calibrate.
There is an app called "Battery Calibration" by Ne'Ma that does exactly that. Its free. You have phone plugged in charging and when phone gets to 100%, you press it and it wipes the stats from the file

Wipe battery stats from clockwork then recharge to max then turn on phone
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
No, lets say I'm already calibrated. If you switch to a new rom, the stats are wiped, right? If that's so, couldn't "/data/system/batterystats.bin" be backup up before flashing a new rom, and restored after flashing it so you don't have to re calibrate the battery?

I read somewhere in the forums that after installing a new kernel u should do a battery data reset but now I can't find it can someone please post the insructions on how to do this. I know its under clockwork mod but I don't know if u have to wipe it after charge or before. Thanks

It is in Clockwork Mod. You have to boot your phone into recovery with 3 finger salute (camera, volume down, and power buttons simultaneously. Then in advanced there is a wipe battery stats option. Do this with a fully charged battery.
BONSAI 4 and loving it!
K thanks. Do I drain it now then fully charge it? Should it be on or of during recharge?

Fully charge your phone with it off, then wipe battery stats in CWM
Everytime I reboot my phone my battery drops a significant amount. I tried charging it in full, unplugging it, & doing it again & then wipe battery stats but its still the same. Anything else I could do?

There are different theories/methods for this. I charge to full, unplug, wipe battery stats, plug in and charge to full again, wipe stats then let it run down to about 15% and recharge and wipe one last time. People will say my way is crap but it seems to help. Also, just letting the battery run down and charging back up seem to condition the battery to your new setup. There are several little tweaks made by devs in pursuit of better battery life so it may read inaccurately at first. Let your battery settle in. I say in a day or two, you will see improvement

My phone was working fine, but now this is my battery usage. I have restarted twice and it still shows like this.
Plus my CPU has been running for 248 days or something.
(Guess my pics didn't upload)
The battery is showing android os as 100% off my battery usage.

Alright, I'm a noob, I was with you up to reboot your device. "Go to recover and delete battery stats" was where you lost me. Maybe some more detail or a hint on where I can look to learn about it would be super helpful. Thanks.

Are you rooted at all? Installed any custom recovery? i.e. CWM or TWRP. You need to have installed a custom recovery to delete battery stats.
As for the android OS usage, that's very weird. Try searching it up on google and see if any results pop up. You could delete battery stats but not sure if that'll help. If you'd like to know how though, let me know.
If u r rooted and dnt have a recovery, download a app called 'sdmaid' frm store, and u wil get an option of delete bat stats!

I had that happen to me when I first bought the phone. Was terrified I would have to return it. Just charge it to 100% and reset it. No reason to put it in recovery or anything. That fixed it for me.

Hi, this is a probably already answered. I am new with root and flashing rom. After i rooted my galaxy note 2 N7105 and using jedi x16 rom. Start to drain my battery fast. I already read many post about cpu governor and tweaks. I tried different governor but it has no help. Still my battery drain fast. Any suggestion why i encounter this battery drain? Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks!

My advice, better stay close to ROMS close to stock. Plus, turn off sync, google back up, motion if you don't use/need any of those features. And explore the settings, there are things that you can turn on/off to save your battery.
Thanks!another question. Is it true that i need to wait a couple of days to so that my noye 2 can adjust to the new rom? Because. I rooted and flash jedi x16 last thursday only.

Since it is recommended by the devs, yes.
Also try charging your phone til 100% then wait for a half an hour at least then unplug it, then go to recovery mode(CWM recovery) and under advance, wipe battery stats.
And you can try DisableService app from playstore, it can disable unnecessary services of any app. Less services running, less battery drain. Be careful though with what services you disable. Here's the link for the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Okay i will try that. Thanks! By the way i have 2 diffent battery. Do i need to charge 100% and go to recovey mode? I think this is a noob question. XD

Yes charge it until 100% and wait for it to charge a little more, at least half an hour. Cause sometimes 100% isn't really 100%, that's why this procedure is needed for the phone to know what's really a 100% charge. It's like a calibration. I think you can do it only on one battery since every battery is not exactly the same.

Are you using a white theme on your rom? Better change it to black or stock theme. White colors makes the pixel on your screen light up and drain battery.

Install battery calibration by nema from the play store. It will do the same job.

No offense but you know, I used to do all this battery stat wipe stuff. Calib...etc. Then I started seeing articles about battery crash and low burn in. On top of that I read increasingly more about how chain fire himself said wiping battery stats is placebo if you think it is healthy or has any positive effect ...I really wanted not to believe it. Lol but hey that was couple years or so ago. I Dont mess with the stats unless I'm testing my work.

My battery percentage is not correct. To fix that i have to calibrate my battery. I have tried battery cycles but it wouldn't work. Will wiping system and data (factory reset) fix the battery percentage and calibrate the battery? If not, is there some other way?
There's an option specifically to wipe battery stats in CWM.....

Not true.....on phones like the S2 that have a 'fuel gauge' that may be the case.....but wiping battery stats still works on the W.
The only thing that's been removed from CWM because of its (what they called placebo effect) was 'fix permissions'.

I completely forgot. There's no 'fix permissions' in cwm 6.0.4.4. Now what can i do?
In my guide here.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941028
I provide links to 2 versions of CWM. You could re install the older version (via terminal emulator as detailed) it includes the wipe battery stats option. As far as I can tell, there's no REAL advantage to be gained from running the latest version of CWM other than the fact that it occupies a slightly smaller memory footprint (due mainly to the decreased functionality).

The SGW has a full gauge too but this whiping stats and battery calibration nonsense floating around is a myth.
The ROM is collecting battery stats while it´s running and whiping them on each reboot. So going into recovery and whiping them is the same like just rebooting the device. Just by doing so you are whiping them twice before the phone gets booted again.
Wrong stats do have other reasons than not a well calibrated battery. Like for example a bloated battery that is already dieing or some background processes draining the battery.
The stats are just what you get displayed in your ROM when looking at the battery consumption statistics. They have no influence to how long a battery lasts, even if they are incorrect.
Ok I need to correct my statement above a bit. Depending on which ROM you are using the stats are not whiped on each reboot but on each full (or partial) charge. But also when the phone gets turned completely off and on again. However the rest remains the same. So you can whipe them by going into recovery or by simply charging it and then by removing the charger from the plug.
The results will be te same but they will not fix the root of the problem.
