it will do that as thats the way magldr does it
you can only charge the phone while it is on
so theres nothing wrong with your phone or rom

Hi Kameirus,
Thanks much for a quick reply, So im safe,my phone hardware is not faulty rite? cause i got kinda scared, cause on winmo it would charge on shutdown.so like with MAGDLR it would never charge on shut down? is it really safe to charge with phone on? cause what i think..you woudln't get the correct battery stats with phone in online mode? am i rite? if not please correct me if i'm wrong. & is their a way to charge in shutdown mode..thanks again appreciate it

If you do feel like you need charging while device is off you can always go for a cLK setup.

Choosing between MAGLDR or cLK is a personal thing, both do their jobs very well with just minor differences. One major difference is the charge option while device is off.
Some complain about data issues using cLK others swear by it.
However you should monitor battery usage when using MAGLDR to be sure your battery doesn't turn out empty, as you can imagine there will be no way you can charge when your battery runs out.

You could go to each loader's respective thread and read what it has to offer. Both are safe. cLK should have a few extra features though (except for tetris which comes with mgdlr ). I've never used cLK myself but I'd think that the procedure is the same. Bootscreen->flash clk->flash clockworkmod partition. This all becomes easier if you just download hd2 toolkit (use search) which is an all-in-one solution for all your flashing needs.

This is somewhat incorrect statement - when battery dies, just plug it in and MAGLDR will turn on your device and start charging.
PS: this thread should be moved to Q&A.

is it? You go ahead and drain your battery till it's empty and try it. Your device will try to start and falls out due to the lack of power to get started.
Another battery is needed to config cLK to get the empty battery charged. Happened to me and i was glad i had a spare battery.

can someone confirm this?
magldr will turn on the phone and start charging when the battery empty? or it not able to turn on? some said yes and some said no.

check this thread or read here and ofcourse the MAGLDR thread
MAGLDR does not have a software in it which allows the phone to charge when off. My advice to you, never, ever, let your phone lose charge. A dead battery is a dead phone in our case, unless you have spare batteries.

Yes, it will.
Once again, just plug in your power adapter after your battery dies - your device will boot and start charging.
This is a feature of MAGLDR 1.13.

I'll stop the yes/no game but would like to know where you got the knowledge that this is solved in MAGLDR 1.13?

Here's a link to Cotulla's 1.13 post and further discussion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11037197#post11037197
Personally had many occasions when the battery drained completely and had no problems plugging it in, booting up and charging.
Otherwise, I wouldn't repeat the same things over.

Plug in your charger when it's off. Leave it there for a few hours and then try again. If that doesn't work your batterie is dead and you will have to buy a new one.
If you already charged it and this is still happening, task 29 your internal memory and flash to your carrier stock rom. The same thing happened to me and flashing back the stock at&t rom allowed me to boot back into winmo.

Remove the battery for about 30seconds. replace the battery (do not power on) plug in the charger and wait about 10 mins then power on the phone. The battery is too weak to go through the boot process. Try not to touch the phone for about 2.5 hrs after powerup. Stay in WiMo as well....

you cant change it thats wt happens on the DHD, put your device in hibinate mode then charge will stop cwm showing
Wow...surprised that the DHD can stay off and be charged in the same time...
could you explain "put your device in hibinate mode then charge will stop cwm showing"...what do you mean with device hibernate, how can I do it?
I usually switch off and charge my mobile in the night while i'm sleeping....no more again!! ...hope that i'm wrong! thank you for the info!!!
A couple of things, this exact question has been answered by myself and others countless times. Try to atleast search for an answer before you post.
Now the answer.
When your DHD is stock, plugging into to a charger when switched off would start a reduced function "Recovery" all this does is display the charging LED.
Now, since you replaced the Recovery with ClockworkMod Recovery. It will just start that instead.
The only fix/solution is to remove ClockworkMod Recovery.

Assuming that you are rooted n running CWM...flash the advanced power options zip then you ll get the option to hibernate your DHD (just when you long press the switch off button)

Desire HD wont turn on?

Hey guys,
Was just looking through the market and saw an animations app, so i downloaded it, installed as normal, accepted the superuser request and chose what animation i wanted, (I chose blur if it makes any difference). It then requested a reboot, so i rebooted, but now nothing happens to my phone, It is just like the phone is powered off, nothing comes up on the screen. Ive tried booting normally and booting into recovery but nothing
Any ideas?
I'm using Leedroid ROM and Kernel, both on the latest versions.
Thanks in advance.

Take the battery out again, put it back and then hold volume down & power button. You can also connect the charger to be sure that this is not caused by low battery level. If it still stays off, you should send it to HTC.

Hi
I have the same problem. When I put the Battery and plug in the chagher the red led start to flash.
After 1 minute stops.
If someone can help us we will be very happy!!!!!!

Got the same problem after starting to format my sdcard with cwm. Just nothing happens anymore, but when i connect my dhd to my computer its indicated as device "qhsusb_dload", but i cant access it with adb or anything. Tried to foce install htc-drivers, but didnt help. Gonna take it to a local o2 store and check if there can be anything done bout it.
when i drained my battery fully to the point that it turns itself off, when i plugged it in it sort of looped into boot, but after i remove the charger and plugged it again, the red light turned on and i just left if for ten minutes, then pressed the power button then i turned on as normal.
i'm thinking it might be because the battery is just too drained at one point.

Its just happened NOW. What the hell ? What we can do to fix this ?
Guys
I had the same problem.
I charged aways the phone by the USB on my PC.
But this is a problem.
Try to charge for an Hour or two your usb original charger your phone.
My problem was that the battery was so empty that the PC USB coudn't had the power to charge it. The Original Charger CAN.
So dont wait more and put it and Charge.
Tell me if this was the resolution.
Bye bye

[Q] Installed Tiamat; phone won't charge

1) I have cm7
2) I downloaded Kernel Manager and downloaded and flashed the latest Tiamat kernel.
After that, my battery will not charge. I have an all in one charger that I can use in my car or plug into an outlet (from Sprint). When I plug in the charger, a light comes on so that I know it's plugged in. However, when I plug it into my phone it won't charge AND it turns off the light on the charger. Luckily I have a coworker that has an EVO and my charger works just fine with his phone.
I've rebooted several times, which is killing my battery. I tried to just flash a new kernel, but now I kept getting errors that flashed too quickly for me to read. I thought, Hey I'll uninstall and re-install. So I uninstalled and tried to open the Market and now I'm getting network errors and can't connect through anything. I'm down to 37% so I can't flash the new cm7.1.
Yes, I'm a n00b but I have researched and Googled and I can't find anyone with the same problem. Feel free to tell me to throw my phone out the window, but I'd really appreciate some help. Even if it's "Take out your SD card and flash cm7.1 when you get home."
TIA.
*EDIT: Thanks for everyone's help. It looks like it is a hardware problem (bad pins). I went back to stock and unrooted so Sprint can fix it/give me a new phone.
Have you taken out the battery, and let it sit out for maybe a good solid minute, then try to charge? it worked for me on the random time it happened, and make sure its plugged into a wall outlet, not a usb port, ect.

I'm defintely just using my wall/car charger since my usb cable is at home.
I left it out for two minutes and I still have the same problem.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Well first try letting the battery cool down just turn off your phone for like 15 min. And see if that works.
If that dont work try this and since you use kernel manager try this.
1.go into the settings of kernel manager and turn off the setting for auto flashing.
2.download the godmode kernel towards the bottom of the list.
3.steel your friends battery with his permission since your running out.
4.boot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik.
5.(now I take it your in clockwork and not amon since you running cm7 so I'm not sure what you click to do this since unused amon) but go to flash a zip from SD card and look for a folder on the root of your SD called kernel-manager then go to the toastcfh folder and flash the godmode-v9 zip that's in there. Its a great kernel the was made for use with cm7 + all other aosp so it should work. Post your results if it did or didn't work

Did you make a backup before flashing? If so, flash the nandroid and reflash the kernel.
Also, try downloading the kernel to your computer from its respective website, transfer it to your phone, then flash.

What I would try is download the kernel from the dev section [could have gotten a bad flash], then try that.
Also, try another battery in your evo, like you co-workers, because you battery could be super drained and it'll have to be jumped at a sprint store; or leave in on the charger for a few hours and see if it turns on.

I did not backup because I am stupid and was having trouble trying to flash it in recovery (my power button wasn't working as "select", it was just turning my screen off). But I have titanium back up and I didn't flash cm7 so long ago that I would mind flashing the nandroid or a new ROM.
I can't flash right now because my battery is now a very sad 22% and I'm pretty sure my coworker isn't going to lend me his battery. I also don't have my data cable with me so I can't do anything between my phone and computer until I get home.
This is really ****ing with my happy hour plans.

I'm going to try leaving it on the charger to see if it is just the light that is going bonkers with my phone. While the phone was off (after pulling the battery for 10-15 minutes), I plugged in the phone and it turned it on. That's a good sign that it recognized the charger, right?
My coworker isn't going to let me use his battery.

So after my coworker let me charge my battery enough to make it to the Sprint store, they charged it up to about 70% and I wiped and flashed GodMode. All better! It got stuck in a boot loop so i had to reboot but then it was fine. Thank you!
Completely unrelated, but now Launcher Pro Plus is throwing an error and force closing upon start up.

Glad you got it working, and is it just lagging, like not swiping when moving screens or opening the app drawer? if so lock the device, wait a second, then unlock again. Also check your minimum frequency.

It's just whenever I boot up my phone, the very first time it just doesn't work and force closes. As long as I don't turn off my phone, it's fine (mabe a bit laggy, but that's it).
So now that i have been home, my data cable charges my phone just fine (though, it did take longer than usual). I'm at work again, and my charger still doesn't charge my phone! It charges my coworker's phone but not mine. SO WEIRD!
Back to the Sprint store for me ...

That occasionally happens, where it may take launcher pro an extra minute to load, make sure its on the internal memory to make it the fastest.
And that is weird, I would have suggest you may have been using a bad outlet or cable, but no reason for it to charge one phone and not the other. Its possible you could have a bad usb port, so I'd take it to sprint and see what they say.
So I took it to Sprint and they say I need to go back to stock and unRoot before they will work on my phone. :/
They tried different wall chargers and none work, but USB cables work as long as they are plugged into a computer or AC adapter.
Do I try flashing a different ROM? do I restore my NAND backup from before I rooted? Do I just rely on my data cable to charge my phone and deal with it? UGH.
And now I will never know if i messed my phone up with the kernel flashing business or if it was a true hardware problem.

UGH.

I think it may be hardware. I only use the data cable via usb, or use the adapter for the wall outlet, and never had a problem.
What's your current setup? You can always change kernels, and if you wana unroot, shoot me a pm and I'll fix ya up.

Remove the back from the tablet and unplug the battery for a few minutes. Then put it back in charge fully.

Have you tried changing the usb cable ?
Had the same problem earlier, then tried using a friends usb cable and found that the issue was due to my cable.

I know there is a method to reset the battery file but I donĀ“t know where I read that
You have to hold some buttons for 10s while the device is off.
Try that at your own risk:
1. Turn off your Tab
2. Plug it in (wall charger)
3. Wait till it shows a charging battery
4. Press and hold menu-button 10s or more
OR
1. Turn off your Tab
2. Plug it in (wall charger)
3. Wait till it shows a charging battery
4. Press and hold menu-button + power-button 10s or more
