Re-Partition When Switching From AOSP? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I know on the fascinate there was a need to Odin a package using the atlas and a repartitions check in order to revert to a touchwiz rom. Is there a need to do any such thing through recovery or adb in order to go from MIUI/CM7 to a sense rom on the inc 2? Just want to be safe if I decide to revert to gingersense. Thanks.

Nope. I was worried to. Also came from fassy. No bs Odin. I'm guessing the files are already in mtd format which the fassy were rfs.

no need, HTC doesn't do any crazy partitioning like Samsung. Just wipe/install and you're good to go

Haha that's a relief. Thanks for confirming

On a side note, how do you go back to a stock official vzn package? For like if I need to send the phone back to vzn or want to receive an ota?

+1... I would like to know this as well. From what I've read there's no way to re-achieve s-on so I'm not sure anything can be done to get back to complete stock. I think you can just try to mask it with a sense rom that hasn't deviated too far from stock.

[Q] Does Verizon care about S-OFF?

Well, I getting a replacement DInc2 because of some hardware issue, and I was wondering that if they care if I am just S-OFF'd. I'm not running on any ROM's at all, completely stock rooted.
Would they charge me retail price for my phone if they see I was S-OFF'd?
Is there any kind of guide I can follow to get back S-ON?
Sorry, I'm not new at all to rooting, or replacements. It's just HTC phones I'm new to.
I sent back an s-off phone recently and they didn't do anything. Probably cause they never saw it. I'm not sure they would care if they did. If you used alpha rev then you can s on. Go to rootzwiki. Jcase posted instructions. Follow them to a T. If you used xtc clip then there is no way to s on.

Delete super user. I've never sent one back. But you want all proof of root taken off. So at a glance they will see it is stock.

Ohhh. And how would I do that? Titanium Backup?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Here is a little info. Before you do an s-on. Do a recovery to an original ROM that can have SU removed. If you don't have one I am sure someone has one.
Make sure when you send your phone back in to remove your SD card. The majority of root information is stored on the card.
If there is a RUU available for 2.3 then just flash it via bootloader after you s-on.

Yes that is a simpler option.

I cant imagine that they hire people to play around with each phone that gets sent back.
They probably inspect the phone for physical damage, see if it turns on, and plug it into a machine to wipe while they replace the casing, and call the phone a refurb.

+1 I returned my tbolt for an inc2 and the bolt was s-off just flashed the stock ruu. they do a total reset of the phone anyway. they don't care
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
I concur they don't care. Long as you don't send it back with cm7 or something running you will be fine
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA Premium App
Asked a guy that works for the phone replacement facility. Said as long as they can flash their stock software on it they don't care to look. It's when the computer can't flash and the phone has errors is when they have to dig into it and look for s-off
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
Even if you make a nandroid of the stock rom, you still need a custom recovery to restore it. Meaning unless you flash the ruu, your phone wont be stock

Yeah, tried to restore with the Toolkit for GSIII, but that didn't work. Guess it's gonna have to come down to some manual labor! lol

I don't think anybody wants to port touchwiz because of how bad it is
It's probably somehow really incompatible with our phones too so it would probably maybe be laggy if we did.

Att rom

Hey guys, while I'm having a great time flashing ROMs and trying to become a fast expert I wanted to ask a question. I want to keep the stock Att ROM on my device just if I need it reasons. Not sure where I can get it and I don't think I've seen it yet. Let me know if I need to be more clear on what I'm trying to do.

You know how to use Odin right?
OK and yes I do know odin but wouldn't using that unroot me?

You didn't maybe a back up of the original before you started flashing ROMs?

Hang in there, you'll figure it out...I had to go thru the same thing a while back, but sometimes the best way to learn is to just play around a bit.
Good Luck!

I have a bunch of backups now but when I started I was running out of space so I had to pick and choose what ROMs I backed up. When I discovered twarp it let me backup to my SD card so now I can do what I want. So yes I do back up but no after flashing for a few months I no longer have my stock back up
