[Q] Need to root to install themes? - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hi, Do I have to root my phone to install cutom ROMS and themes?

You need the clockwork mod (cwm) and for the most themes a deodexed firmware.

what is deodexed firmware ?

Yea I am also wondering about this. I am new to the Android system. I did flash the rom on my Motorola Q9c and HTC TP2, but still trying to understand the whole android thing. Thanks..

I think theres a forum called Q&A where questions like this might already be answered, if you're too lazy to find that. Use the search function.

how to install themes

sorry om new to this phone i got it rooted with the cm 4.1.11.1, firmware 1.6,build number DRC63....wanna know how to install themes n change keyboards? help please
put the theme on your sd, reboot to recovery and flash it.
and ask in Q&A
just because it is a question does not mean it hasn't been answered before.

please post on the FAQ thread
I faced the same problem at first. The headphones doesnt seem to work in ANY custom ROM. It was so frustating and finally found a solution. Thanks to stamatis.
Its a problem in an old stock firmware package.
Just update the stock rom package using kies
(or)
download the latest stock firmware of your region from this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
Refer the instructions given in 2nd post of that thread for installation.
Now install the custom ROM you want to install and there you go problem fixed

ROM?

I have been trying to search for a V20c AT&T rooted ROM that has CWM already in it. All I found is threads with people talking about this subject but no ROM. Is this ROM available? If so, can someone link me to it? CM10 battery life SUCKs big time and I would like to try stock that's rooted and has CWM. Thanks!

To clarify a misunderstanding that you have ROM's DO NOT contain CWM. CWM allows you to install ROM's. If you are running CM10 you must have by default CWM or equivalent like TWRP. Just look for your ROM of choice and install through CWM. Since you are looking for v20c I would recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980541. However, HO! NO! also has one that is 100% stock plus there are several others that are available under development.

[Q] Noobie problem - flashing tweaks

Hi all,
I know it will be maybe for some viewers of this forum quite funny question, but I really don't know how to install tweaks..
Can someone help me with it? For example, now I want to install this tweak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670
I am running on the "ClockworkMod Recovery [v6.0.4.9]" and KitKat ROM.

So it is that easy? Just flash like a ROM? And I have to flash tweaks after rom..I think?

Yes just flash the rom (if you have not already). Flash the tweak without any wiping.
