I just did it both ways, restored my backup (thanks to Titanium) and updated again from inside the app and then restored old version again, uninstalled and installed the full new from the market. The problem persists.
Better wait for new release =/

Android.process.acore issue caused by Google+ 2.0

Hi all,
I just had a weird issue. Everything was working great and I suddenly started to receive this error : Android.process.acore.
After trying many things (cache wipe, facebook reinstall and last a factory reset) issue was gone.
I did a titanium backup restore and issue came back. When trying to access my contacts I was getting this message again. So I did some testing and found out the new Google+ 2.0 (the release from Ice Cream Sandwich) is causing the issue. After uninstalling it my contant were all back to normal.
I have no idea why it's doing that but if it can help someone else in the same boat.
Thx,
r0ot5

i had the same issue while trying to add contact, uninstalling Google+ 2.0 made my contact all ok after that. I am using DXKI2.
Thankyou so much r0ot5, I installed G+ 2.0 2days ago at the same time putting Lite'ning ROM 6.1 on, it's been driving me mad, I thought it was Facebook screwing everything up, turns out it wasn't!
Uninstalled 2.0 and back to normal!
Same thing here, did all sort of testing because everything was pointing towards facebook but finally got it back to normal ao for now will use the old Google+.
Not sure if this bug should be reported or something....

Tried times and times... Finally locate the issue: Google+ 2.0.0...
Same as you are, this is the only problem that makes my acore crash and crash again...
I'm using BlissMod007 v03
right now I had to use the old version of Google+ app. Should we report google about this situation? I think so...
Same issue on Nexus 1 running CM7. Also people have mentioned the problem on other forums. I assume that the v2.0 of G+ is integrated into the contacts the same way that facebook and twitter do, so contacts that are linked to another account crash the program when they check to see if they are linked to g+ maybe? We need the latest contacts or dialer apk to fix this?
uninstall
re-install G+ version on market

That's not really the answer anyone is looking for. We already know that. The question is how do we keep g+ 2.0 and fix the contacts problem

Instead it is the correct answer
reinstall G+2(is available) from market and will solve contact problem
Look man, I'm not trying to be a ****, but we already understand that uninstalling the v2.0 apk that we jacked from ICS will solve the problem. I (and probably others) think that it would be better to fix the problem causing the error instead of giving up and uninstalling v2.0. Uninstalling it is not any more "correct" than finding a workaround. And for your info, v2.0 is not available in the market like you said. Market version is 1.0.8 https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.plus

Complete ICS App Collections for Android 2.2+

The Ice cream Sandwich has a really mind blowing UI, Google tried to modify almost all system apps.
Here is some original app collections, which really works for Gingerbread & other older versions.
The Apps Collections
Android Market 3.2.0
Google Music 4.0.1
Google Maps 5.11.0
Street View 1.7.0.4
Google+ 2.0.0
Just install like a normal app. Will be updated as soon as more apps available.
If anyone has problems installing market 3.2.0, try this post. This may be helpful to you.

Note : There may be updated versions of the apps listed, but this is just a collection from Galaxy Nexus.
Any hope for the launcher? Or the browser? Or Somthing else interesting....
are those install APK, or just copy and replace over old APK ?
Market and Music installed ok.
Not having any luck with Maps and Street View. Do they even have any significant changes?
Maps is not 5.10.2
It's the ownhere/Brut.all 5.10.1 mod of the maps...

Well there is a launcher but its not as good or near good compared to the actual ICS launcher
And for the browser I would also like to see it ported to any device

Start the install and then:
"application not installed"
What is the problem ? :|
(This works only whit root -ed phones? )
Thanks you very much !
But I have the same prob than zoltank but for Music, Market et Google+ =/
It's not the first time i install the three but here, everytime "app not installed" and my phone is rooted so it's not that =/
Any ideas ?
try uninstalling the old apps before installing the new ones
Too bad no =(
Uninstall the Market, i came back on the 1st version on the Nexus but it's the same, now the update roll on and i'm again with 3.1.5.
No prob, that will coming in time =)
Thank you !
i was able to install everything except Market 3.2
i uninstalled the old one and wiped cache, kelvin, etc...
any ideas?
solved
rebooted the phone
then i was able to install
now that it's installed, i get Force Close every time i try to install something from market
going back to 3.1.5
Hi, if you are having trouble installing the market try this. Its what I did to get it working on my o2x
You will need root explorer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297322
Market doesn't work on Galaxy S Plus
Thanks for these
Market works perfectly on rooted Flyer. The tiles fill out the screen nicer than 3.1.5. No force close issues. On edit: it drops an error when trying to get a non-free app....
G+ breaks the People (htccontacts.apk) app.
Music installs, but I use the HTC one so not much testing after install.
Maps, untested.
Street view, untested.
---
On edit: Maps installs and works. Street view errors on install.
G+ app works perfectly on stock N1 on 2.3.6, no adverse side effects. Been using it since it originally leaked a couple-ish weeks ago.

My guess is the ones already in the first post are the only ones that are gonna install on gingerbread. You can take all the apps from the galaxy nexus dump, put them in a folder on your sdcard, and browse to it with root explorer. you'll see the only ones that have none default icons are the ones in the first post. the ones with app icons are the only ones that actually install. all other give parsing errors since you need ICS to install them.

Google+ Contacts - Keep Contacts up to Date in Google+ settings Missing?

I am on the latest 7.1.2 Verizon build and I noticed when I did a factory reset that in Google+ settings, I no longer have the option under settings to keep the contacts up to date. This option would always keep my user profile picture under the phone settings to stay updated instead of a blank photo. Anybody else seeing this?
Yes, thank you! I thought I was going nuts lol
I just got a OnePlus 3t (my N5x put itself in reboot purgatory) and while trying to set it up, I couldn't find this option for the LIFE of me.
Any idea on how we can get this functionality back?
I really liked how it synced with my G+ profile pic and I never had to worry about it...

Yeah i just upgraded to 7.1.2 on my Verizon Pixel XL and just noticed this. Not sure why this was removed or if it is just located somewhere else. Would really love it back though.

Google removed it a couple weeks ago. You have to load your own image under quick settings account now. As for tracking contacts where abouts you can do it through maps. But the person you tracking needs to set up who they share location with

This fixed worked 100% for me. While it's a bit annoying way to get back functionality, there's really not much to it.
I also tested it by letting the app update from the Play Store, then changing my profile pic in g+ and it updated in android. Win!

On Marshmallow (6.0.1), I was getting "App not Installed" errors when I tried to install the old APK over the new one; had to revert the G+ app to stock (Settings > Apps > Google + - tap top right, then "Uninstall Updates") first to get the older APK to install.

I have the same problem on my Pixel XL running 7.1.2 (NJH47B).
The fix is fine at first, but stops working when I update Google+ to the latest version again.
Funnily enough, this doesn't affect my older devices running Android 6.x and below - my profile picture stays ok regardless of Google+ version.
Help, anybody?
Any luck for anyone?

I've tried downgrading but as soon as the app is updated the pic disappears, I'm on a Nexus 6P 7.1.2.
The same thing happen on the beta version of Android O.

Question Messenger on Poco F3

So to get rid of the whole square bubbles problem I have installed a previous messenger apk that has bubbles.
But even though I have automatic updates on play store turned off, after a couple of hours I check and the messenger in already updated through play store to the latest version. Anyone knows what could be wrong?
Is there any other option I have to turn off so that the app doesnt auto update? Thanks in advance.
Anyone?

nothing I can think of now but have you tried getting system updates or moving to Xiaomi EU custom rom? cuz fixing that problem by just sticking to an old app ver isn't really the ultimate solution
Well, you could still uninstall updates "I have never had a MIUI, so not sure about" that

Flashing a custom rom to solve that is an option I have no time to bother to do so. It could create more trouble for me than just an app auto updating without me wanting to.
Android 12 introduced a native API for chat bubbles, and now all apps can make use of this API - SMS apps, internet messaging apps, and Messenger chose to switch from their own bubbles implementation to Android 12's native one as well.
A user on reddit made a modified Messenger apk, which makes Messenger believe it is installed on an earlier Android version, without native chat bubbles. This makes Messenger use its own bubbles implementation. This obviously cannot be updated through the Play Store, so it won't suddenly revert to the official APK.

Question Favorites Flashing when opening Phone App

Since the latest update, when I open the phone app for the first time (or after it shuts down from timeout), a few of my favorites seem to "flash". If this doesn't make sense, I'll try to post attach a video later tonight. Can anyone tell me why this is and how to disable it?
Instructions to reproduce: Click favorites on phone app so it is first to display on reopening. Force close phone app. Open phone app.
So, after playing with this more, I found out that this only happens when I'm signed in to my Duo account. The contacts that flash don't seem to coincide with those who have Duo access, especially since one of the accounts that flash is a landline only account.
So far, I haven't been able to find a fix or a way to disable this. It is super annoying when I'm used to just opening the phone app and clicking on a favorite, only to have it fail because the favorite flashed and didn't capture the touch input.
I agree this is due to Duo....havent looked into it, but yeah its a bit annoying IMHO too!
Seems to be solved in the latest update of the dialer app (I received it this morning): 76.0.431816759
