[Q] back to original themes - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
I am new member
Thanks for support
I had rooted my desire phone and installed a redux rom
but it is changed my original themes
I tried many ROMs (called no theme)
But the theme still not as the original
Now I need to make it back to original theme, But I don't Know how to do this?
or
suggest me a new stable rom with original theme and support AP2SD+
Sorry for my english ...

I don't know if there is a real "original" rom. Try a sense rom. It is like the original (only a few changes - to the newer sense).
e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018843;http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1170633 - just the roms which were with the newest posts not the "best" ones (I don't use a sense rom therefore I don't know which "the best one" )

Thanx for reply
but I don't need the best ROM or newest Rom Just I need to rom like the original comes with Desire with a2sd plus.
no one backup the original rom before flashing custom one?
I think that backup will help me.
any another help?????
That is so bad for me

You cannot use original (stock) desire with a2sd+. So what you want, is impossible.

Not so true.

Teppic74 did a totally stock ROM, with init.d support just in case. You can install that rom + A2SD+ and have a stock rom with A2SD+!

Hey,
Have a couple of questions
Is it worth flashing custom ROM ?
Is there a lot of speed or tweek improvements ?
Is it better to have Sense rom or naked android?
What rom You can advise for flashing ?
And what criteria most important on choosing custom Rom ?
Thank You very very much for answers!

Here we go:
1. You are asking this question in THIS forum? You've got to be kidding
2. Yes
3. If you need sense and its widgets and apps, then stick with it. I don't like sense so i choose a faster rom without it.
4. This depends on your taste... I love DeFrost
5. Depends on your personal taste (battery, speed, appearance....)
1. Depends what you want to use your phone for
2. Yes, if you need them
3. I prefer Sense, don't like stock Android
4. I'm on stock FroYo for Sense (the official HTC 2.2 release)
5. Depends on what you want to use your phone for - my Quadrant score is 2nd only to the Nexus One 2.2+
Double-post rubbishness
yes it's much better....and rooted
just damn hard which to choose.

1. Yes, but only if you are aware and willing to accept the voiding of your warranty.
2. I haven't noticed any speed difference between rooted and non rooted, but obviously, you can 'tweak' the OS much more on rooted ROM.
3. I like Sense. Some love it, some hate it. See point 5 for further comment.
4. I use the first released and cleanest/least-modified rooted HTC 2.2 at... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741663
5. Personally, I want a rooted ROM with A2SD+/EXT support and nothing else changed from the official OTA.
P.S. no matter which ROM you go for, it's CRITICAL that you do a full-wipe, including Davlik cache, and that you also install the 5.09.00.20 Radio.
sorry, duplicate post
Thanks every one!! now i must to think what rom i want to flash
IMO the sense keyboard is much much better, dunno if you can get it on stock, never checked.

if it's an official rom, you will have to edit the boot.img/ramdisk to enable support
instructions here:

Moved to Q&A as not development

Or you could just flash one of the many custom ROMs available in the "Android Development" section. Almost all of them will either have A2SD or A2SD+
Custom ROMs are almost always faster and more feature-rich than the stock 2.2 ROM.

custom roms are faster yes lots of extra features but "some" give fc's and stuff and i guess not as stable as the stock rom?
I would also like to know if this is possible. I am not interested in custom roms. I just want A2SD+. So , is anyone sure if this can be done?
Edit: yeah, only working in Linux...so...not feasable for me.

Noob in need of help...

Hi all, i have been searching for a while and cant seem to find my answer so hopefully someone can help. I have rescently rooted my HTC Desire and installed one of the roms off here (Psychosis 5.0) it has installed fine except i no longer have the android market on my phone, i am running 2.1 0.83. Can someone please tell me how to get it back?
Many thanks.
You can try to flash a stand alone new market or Gapps, but I think it's better to just flash a up to date rom.
Since Psychosis 5.0 is based of a old Leedroid rom I would suggest you install the newest Leedroid or find something else you like.
Ah ok pal, thanks for the help i will find a different rom
Any advice as to what rom to flash?
Depends on what you want, look around in development and this thread. See if anything there strikes your interest.
If you have no idea and what to stay as close to stock as possible but with the benefits of custom roms I would suggest to install Leedroid
If wanna have everything working and want to stay as close as to stock as said before than Leedroids ROM is the one for you.
If you like speed and no snick snack and no Sense, I want to suggest DeFrost 6.1a. See the rest Non-Sense ROM too.
If you like extra snick snack and the new Sense, try one of the DHD or Z ported ROM. I am currently using InsertCoin 1.8f.
If you are and advance user and like to experiment things, try one of the experimental Gingerbread (2.3) ROMs.
If you like to have something iPhone alike, try one of the MIUI.
Note:
For newbies, please stay away first from any Data2SD and Data2Whatever or any Gingerbread ROMs at the moment.
Stick with App2SD, learn more first!
I don't know how to get market back, but I also recommend Leedroid, AuraxTSense, or ReflexTSense. All good ROM's, in my opinion...

[Q] Latest ROM can I use? - HTC Desire Z A7272

Good afternoon,
What's the latest ROM I can use on my HTC Desire Z A7272?
If there are a few to choose from, which is best?
Thanks for all suggestions,
Alec Taylor
I suggest virtuos affinity is great rom with good duration.Only problem is sense! the ram in startup is low (80/90 mb without any app)
Thanks, but more info needed!

although sense ROMs look cool... AOSP (ROMs without sense) are fast, elegant, stable ROMs for performance... but aren't that pretty when you look at them

belongs to what sense you want 2.1 / 3.0 or 3.5 ?
2.1 i would recommend virtuous sense 2.0
3.0 ...virtuous unity
3.5 ...beatmod bliss sense or virtuous affinity, also rcmix is very good (went back to affinity cause of the light brightness)
...if you install a sense rom (specially 3.0 or 3.5) i would suggest to apply some tweaks: enable swap (swap partition or swapper2), change your system partition to ext4 (using 4ext recovery) and have a look at the supercharger thread (because multitasking is a bit laggy due to low memory)
I suggest you use G2-Slim. This is without sense but has launcher pro as the stock launcher. It also has cool animations if you upgrade to the launcher pro plus edition you also get the (almost identical) sense widgets for people, friends hub, twitter, facebook, message, etc.
The G2-Slim ROM is extremely fast in comparison with other ROMS. Everyone will advise something else to use but it's yours to decide. So take a week flashing and get the best out of it.
I highly suggest you try at least:
-G2-Slim
-Bulletproof MIUI
-Cyanogenmod
I'm not known with the newest sense ROMS atm as I tried a lot of them but in my opinion was the peformence to low and the sense based ROMS I tried had a lot bugs in it too.
So that's my advice and do with it what you want! GL .

you could try one of the shipped roms... careful remove S-OFF before you flash these
I actually used rom from RUU release (took rom.zip, renamed to PC10IMG and flashed) - you will loose root rights, but s-off is ok. And to make the phone rooted it takes few seconds ...

Stock Rom 2.2 or 2.3 for CM7r2 with A2SD support out there?

Hi folks,
I am still having trouble with all the custom roms now and then. I am fed up with testing roms every month. Just want a device that is reliable!
Therfore I am looking for a rom that combines the essential advantages of the community efforts with the quality of the carefully tested stock rom. Only the option to maximize the memory for some more apps and AdFree are a must have.
The features should be as following:
- Stock 2.2 (Froyo) or 2.3 (Gingerbread) original Desire-Base from HTC
- rooted
- A2SD support
- Cm7r2 hboot compatible
- AdFree capable
Is there any rom out there that can provide that?
Thanks for your help!
Max
Roms that are close:
Rooted 2.2 with A2SD but no CM7r2 - possible to modify for CM7r2?
That query could be answered if you bothered to look in this thread, stock roms are Sense 1.9 so you could browse for those fitting the description.
This is probably closest to requirements.
Virtually any rom can be shrinked to CM7r2 using this guide.
yeah, I already saw that list, but none of those roms is for CM7r2 hboot. This would help to reduce the amount of apps that need to be moved to /ext

You got the concept wrong. You have to do nothing for apps to go to ext.
Rom I linked fits into CM7r2. Any rom with /system <=145MB fits CM7r2.

Hey guys,
thank you for all your suggestions.
Now I am happy with An-Droid, as erklat recommended.

WidgetLocker for lockscreen with ring (because the lockscreen was one of the main reasons I switched to custom roms with sense 3.0)
