you think it is going to solve soon to downgrde from 2.50 what think about xtc clip

None of the known exploits currently work on 2.37+ so we have to wait for someone to figure out a new one. You MUST get temproot to modify the version partition so the phone will accept a downgrade ROM. Unless you're S-OFF, the hboot will reject any RUU that is older than what it thinks the current version is.
XTC clips still work though.

Have you tried with Gold Card ?
Create a Gold Card:
Install GoldCard Helper from the Android Market,
Run it and make note of the value listed after Card:mmc2, Reverse CID. It should be a long series of numbers and letters. (make sure to use mmc2, the default copy to clipboard copies mmc1 ..)
Visit this page (http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard), enter the new copied number and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you.
Save the file attached in the email to your PC.
Install HxD Hex Editor on your computer, from the "Step 4 - Gold Card" folder.
Run HxD Hex Editor. ("Run as Administrator" under Vista and Windows 7).
Go to the Extra menu and select Open Disk. Under physical disk, select Removable Disk (your microSD card), uncheck Open as Read only and click OK. Note that you should select physical disk NOT the logical disk. This is important!
Go to the Extra menu again and select Open Disk Image. Open the goldcard image that you received by email.
Press OK when prompted for Sector Size (selecting 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks)) and click OK.
You should now have two tabs - one is your removable disk, the other is your goldcard image.
Click on the goldcard image tab. Go to the Edit menu, choose Select All then select the Edit menu again and select Copy.
Click on the Removable Disk tab. Highlight offset (line) 00000000 to offset (line) 00000170 (including the 00000170 line), then click on the Edit menu and select Paste Write.
Click on the File menu and select Save, accepting the warning.
Your Gold Card SD card is completed.
Or even easier use the attached application after getting the CID using GoldCard Helper from the Android Market

I had downgraded 2 HD branded (with CID lock and S-ON) using a gold card made with the above attached application. I would think it should also work to allow you to downgrade a 2.50 HD Rom
Once you get the CID unlocked, you should be able to flash any Official HTC Rom and as such 1.32. Once you flash 1.32 just follow one guide in Dev threads to S-OFF

A gold-card will allow you to install a RUU that is not specifically meant for your device but it won't allow you to install a version that is OLDER than the current version.

Unfortunately this method only works for 2.37. For anything greater, it's impossible at the moment. Yes, even with a gold card. Thanks for your efforts though, hopefully we'll find a solution one day.

Have you patched your SD card with the img you got and apply the patch using the application i just posted ?
If yes, just follow this thread or any other thread related to downgrade to 1.32: HERE
Or for me i just had to run the 1.32 RUU attached here, once downloaded, sync your HD with computer and run the RUU.exe file...and follow the guide

[Q] Goldcard + Downgrade + Root Generic Desire Z (Asian version - Indonesian)

Hi all,
First of all I have an Asian version Generic HTC Desire Z (Asian version but not under a provider) with the following software information:
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband: 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-g6e170e7....
Build: 1.82.707.1 CL317545 release-keys
Software: 1.82.707.1
My CID is HTC_044
From what I read, in order to root, we have to downgrade the software version to 1.34..... , right?
SO thats what I did.
I have followed the steps to downgrade in ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261 )
and creating a goldcard ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503 )
I tried both (2 different attempts) the PC10IMG.zip file and exe/RUU file, and have copied the whole zip file onto the SDCard (not in any folder), without extracting the files.
When I get to step 9-10 (phone in bootloader mode), I receive an error message like user "waqypaqy" got.
When I reboot into the bootloader, the phone scans the SD card, then I get this:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PC10DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC10IMG.zip]
No Image!
Then after a few minutes, comes to another screen and says:
"CID incorrect! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot."
From the bootscreen, here's the info:
VISION PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT -0.85.0009
RADIO-26.04.02.17_M2
eMMC-boot
CID Incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot
Does anyone know what's wrong with this?
It'd be great if anyone could help me.
THANKS in advance =)
PS: I can't post under the "Development" forum because I'm still a newbie and doesn't have enough postcount yet.
The goldcard bypasses the CID check, so you can try looking at that first. Can you confirm that you've correctly written the image from the PSAS site to your sdcard?

Hey theSpam,
I have tried creating the goldcard before, and have received the goldcard image through the email and have updated img through HxD editor (as per the instructions). But like what I said before, it gave me that CID incorrect message.
I'm sorry this might be a stupid question, but how do I check whether I've written the image from the PSAS site? What is the PSAS site?
Thank You for your help =)
I was just asking you to doublecheck that you've correctly written goldcard.img to your sdcard. Most people have issues during this step of the goldcard creation process.
Just open up your sdcard in HxD and see if it's there
Are you using the Asian RUU to get the PC10IMG.zip file? I found this made a difference.

Oh yeah, I have followed all of the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503 for part 1.
I have copied the contents of goldcard.img into the removable disk image and saved the file.
Then I went back to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261, and followed the steps in that guide.
I only managed to get upto step 10.
Then it showed the error I mentioned above.
The RUU exe file I got was from here:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Vision/
I downloaded the file with this name "RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe"
This is the asian version, right?
I got the rom.zip file by following Part 2 steps in the link above.

I would also recommend going back and double-checking all those steps for creating the goldcard, because it sounds like it's not recognising a goldcard.

Hi steviewevie,
I just want to make sure whether i've followed the steps correctly or not.
Making the goldcard:
During step 4, "Enter 'adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid' and press enter. You should get a very long number copy it."
This is the number that I get: 479a002f86c320087483035535443530
Step 5 "Visit this page, paste in your number and reverse it."
When I opened the link for that step, there isn't any textfield where I can paste in my number.
So what I did was reverse the number manually into 035344535530384780023c68f200a974
Step 6. I entered the reversed number into the SD Card Serial (CID) text field.
Question: Can I reverse it manually?
Thank you mate (and to anyone who is kind enough to help) =)

As you have downgraded, you can follow the guide found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision to achieve permanent root.
Once you have ClockwordMod Recovery installed (per the above guide), you can flash Cyanogen.
As for the radio, I personally don't recommend changing anything due to the brick risk (however, many others share opposite opinions).

Hi,
I have just finished installing and flashing CM 7 + googleaps zip file.
But I found several problems:
1. Google Maps not installed
2. Calendar is missing
3. Stock email app somehow doesnt work
4. Numbers: I can only see several digits on the letters, they are 1 2 4 5 0
5. And most of all I just found out that HTC Sync does not work with CM =( (can't sync my contacts n calendar anymore through outlook 2010)
Would you have any ideas why this is happening?
THanks very much theSpam!

I have tried so many ways and nothing helped, I also got the CID wrong, I tried to make the goldcard but still having that problem all the errors and information are exactly like yours... [Q] Cannot Downgrade Hboot 1.01.0002 to 1.01.0001

Hello,
I'm new to the forums, and have only just recently got a HTC Wildfire A3333 running 2.2.1.
I have tried to use " [GUIDE] Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX (HBOOT 1.01.0001) " to downgrade the h boot as to start to gain root.
But when I have followed the instructions, it appears to complete ok, but when I reboot in to the system menu, it still shows as .002 hboot and does not install the rom supplied.
any help would be great
EDIT: IT TOLD ME I HAD SUCCESSFULLY CREATED GOLD CARD
GlennBrownie
same goes with me mate, i got the gold card and then i insert it, it all goes but when the cmd closes it still shows hboot 1.01.002
This happened to me on a Telstra wildfire (A3335). if you make it so the CMD window doesn’t close (I used an alternative shell) you will see that it actually gets some error before closing, which is why it doesn’t actually change the hboot.
I must have done it 20 times before I got it to work. I can't remember what I did differently the time I made it work, but it was something to do with which usb mode the phone was in for each step, and when I decided to change it from one mode to the other. Basically trying to make it so the phone wouldn’t say “preparing SD card” after I had made the goldcard.
Worst part was when I finally downgraded my Hboot, alphrev X still wouldn’t work for me. Continued to get the error of “Retrieving Caroline from certain doom...” and "mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000" I've since given up..
okays, thanks for the help, ill try that, but with alpharevx the problem they are tring to fix is the part where you need to restart into fastboot the second time, so in this case, ill give that a try. the thing is that im useing windows 7 enterprise, i have the hboot drivers all installed and etc, i used the intructions given to me and everyone else where you have to make the gold card. in that intruction it stated to put the sd card into the usb or sd port, the thing i did was switch my phone to mount the SD card and create it via there, i think the part where we all went wrong is unmounted it after we finished making the sd card. so try that, and with your problem i tghink you need to try and run the program in ADMIN mode (right click and run as admin) and then try and get the HBOOT drivers from Unrevoked installed. give that a try and hope it all works out
cheers
Well I managed to get step2.bat to run in a cmd so that it stayed open,
it came up with "FAILED <remote: 42 custom id check fail>".
when HTC booted in to bootloader it still showed same h.boot (.0002)

my question is, when i run alpharevx, it asks me for the beta key, note that it doesnt show my device name or anything like how i did it before i downgraded, any ideas why? and does anyone have a beta key for me to use? because the one i got with my phone when i entered it in said it was incorrect, when before before i downgraded it worked perfectly fine (except the rotting part).
what Beta key, I dont recall one?
To get a new beta key just follow this link, click download and then enter your phone's SN.

If it doesn’t show your device properly just reboot your phone. Basically every time the program fails it won’t show your device properly until you reboot again (This will also fix the issue where it thinks you have the wrong beta key). People suggesting to go get a new beta key have no idea. Have they not noticed that it doesn’t matter which HBoot version you select on the site you still get the same key based on your serial number.
yes, i used mt wildfire SN and i use the code it gives me still getting the same problem,

done it twice and it still come up with success message?
even did it through hex editor....
I tried to do it again to show screenshots.
firstly, I ran step one and it says "cannot stat" followed by file name and says "no such file or directory". see image1.jpg
I then checked the buzzdowngrade folder, and all files are there. see image4.jpg
I then attempted the goldcard, and I clicked get cid, and it loaded a CID with a lot of 0's in it so I dont think its showing correct CID, possibly hiding real CID?
image2.jpg
when I clicked patch MMC, it came up with an error message. see image3.jpg
Have you installed the HTC driver 3.0.0.007. If not, install it first before even going with step1.
And regarding step2, creating a working gold card is important. If you still get custom id errors, try with a different memory card. And run the gold card tool as administrator. And in that you will see mmc0 and mmc1 options. Try creating with the other if one fails.

firstly, I ran step one and it says "cannot stat" followed by file name and says "no such file or directory". see image1.jpg
I then checked the buzzdowngrade folder, and all files are there. see image4.jpg
I then attempted the goldcard, and I clicked get cid, and it loaded a CID with a lot of 0's in it so I dont think its showing correct CID, possibly hiding real CID?

when I clicked patch MMC, it came up with an error message. see image3.jpg

Just downgraded and i think i know what is the problem.
You have to change the connection status from charge only to Mass storage
then click refresh and the memory card will be available.
HTC MMC : select you sd card.
And now patch.
right, got an update.
managed to succeed with the dmisc.img and others that failed - thanks to Mattyyey, cheers Matt
We then got to flashing the rom and it failed, any suggestions?
we recreated the gold card and formated the microSD card and patched and it told us that it had succeeded.
please see screenshot.

And regarding step2, creating a working gold card is important. If you still get custom id errors, try with a different memory card...........Try creating with the other if one fails.

its probably your fake SD card! I was able to run the commands in step 1 and 2 from the cmd, all but the final ROM flash. I think after we create it we should confirm its been put on the SD card via hex workshop.... I did think of this last night but I was getting tired and you dont have it installed. I suspect its just the goldcard isn't done, everything else works when typed manually into cmd.
Unless anyone else has another reason for the custom ID check failing?
MATTYYEY was correct, it was due to fake microSD card, completed gold card with authentic SD card and it worked.

[Q] How to update Hboot to 1.01.0001 for AlphaRevX beta?

Hello all!
I Want to get S-OFF on my device. i Have Hboot 0.80.xxxx
I have a rootet phone with wildpuzzle 0.8. and Revovery 2.5.0.7
----
=> Now i want to know is, what RUU do i need to get hboot 1.01.0001 ? and == NOT 1.01.0002 ==
There are so many and i hope that somebody knows the right one

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
AlphaRev:
http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/ (hboot)
HTC Wildfire (buzz) 1.01.0001
You need the froyo ruu from shipped roms website with the filename " RUU_BUZZ_FROYO_HTC_WWE
and you also should make a gold card. And if the ruu gives any error, extract the Rom.zip from the windows temporary folder and rename it to PC49IMG.ZIP to be kept at the root of sdcard. Then reboot to hboot menu from where you can update that.
And CID errors mean that your gold card is not working.

WWE 2.22.405.1 will give you HBoot 1.01.0001
so this one: ?
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
and then i must make a goldcard and but the file renamed to => PC49IMG.ZIP
and boot to bootloader
to i need to rename the file? is this the right file? with the right hboot?
Make sure phone is set to Usb Debugging and Charge Only, then just run the exe and follow instructions on install, and that's it!

Yes, its the right file with the right HBoot. But I hope that you are referring to the extracted ROM.ZIP which must be renamed, not the EXE file itself. If not, just follow that post above.
Hello all,
my son has a wildfire with these specs :
- android 2.1
- baseband 13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31
- kernel 2.6.29-6fb59e13
- build 1.29.163.1 CL235700
and...
- HBOOT 0.80.0002
- Radio 3.35.15.31
- S-ON
He wants to try a cyanogen rom.
How can I do ?
I've done this : install root/recovery with unrevoked.
Root is OK but the recovery don't work : when i select an option, the screen become black and nothing happen...
So I think i've done a bad thing...
After reading many posts, i think the method could be this :
- flash an official froyo 2.2 rom to have the hboot 1.01.0001 (got a goldcard for that)
- s-off the phone with AlphaRev X
- install ClockWorkMod
- flash the cyanogen with ClockWorkMod
Right ?
But i also read that when flashing an official froyo 2.2, the root become impossible.
Somebody to help me ?

Cm7 needs cwm recovery 3.x or above. Download any 3.x or above recovery.img file and then use unrevoked to select custom recovery from file menu. Point to the downloaded img file. It gives you the required recovery for flashing cm7 rom.
And altrrnatively you can also flash a 3.0.0.6 recovery from the rom manager if you had a rooted phone presently. Open rom manager and select "all clockworkmod recoveries" at the bottom. Flash 3.0.0.6 recovery. Then reboot to recovery from the option in rom manager itself. Then you will get 3.x recovery for that instant. But I recommend to use unrevoked and flash a higher recovery because few people had problems with 3.0.0.6 recovery .
And you can also use alpharevx to s-off and then root. But better do it after knowing the uses of s-off. And if at all your phone is A3335 wildfire, I would strongly suggest not to update hboot. Because almost all the people who faced alpharevx "nand writing error due to bad blocks" are having A3335 wildfire. If at all you want to go with alpharevx, then check my sign for the links to process.

Yes, it is the right ruu.exe file .
Just make a gold card and run the ruu with phone connected in charge only mode. If you face Cid error then problem with goldcard. And for any errors, go with second way.
Do not connect phone to PC. On PC, click on start and type %temp% and enter. This opens the user temp folder of PC. Now open the ruu and donot go with process. And donot exit the ruu window too, just keep it aside. Now if you observe the temp folder, there will be 2 extra folders created with lengthy filename enclosed in {} brackets. If you explore these folders, you will find rom.zip . Copy the rom.zip to the root of your sdcard ( formatted with fat32 ). Then rename the rom.zip to pc49img.zip Then boot into hboot menu for updating it. And donot interrupt the process and make sure you have enough battery. Since the hboot and radio flashing in that are sensitive. Ofcourse, goldcard is needed here too, and Cid error mean goldcard not working.
[Don't know what things you need. But just thought of making clear. And I didn't mean renaming of ruu.exe to pc49img.zip].

Dear bharatgaddameedi,
first : THANK YOU !
This is why i love XDA : a great community with great members.
So, i'm going to read carrefully your complete guide (i don't know why i miss it !).
And after, if it don't work, i will ask questions !
Just a little one at this moment : you said if my phone is A3335 wildfire, don't update hboot. Where i can find this information ?
Because i thought that A3335 was just the wildfire code (mine has been produce in may 2010).
[EDIT] : for this question, it seems that this thread give me the answer.
Mine is like the first pic (A3333), so it's not an A3335 ! that's cool...
So i'm going to follow your guide because, i've installed the 3.0.0.6 recovery and, like the 2.5 version, black screen when i select something...
You can see under the battery of your wildfire whether it is A3333 or A3335. Just need to read the tiny letters. Pics of both will be same.
Edit: and I think you are using power button to select options in custom recovery. If so, you shouldn't use power button to select options in custom recovery. Instead you should use trackpad to select options and power button to go back to previous menu.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
You're right my friend !
I was using the power button to select options in custom recovery...
(because it's not my phone... mine is an LG O2X, and in the clockworkmod, i use the power button...)
I followed all your guide, and the wildfire is now S-ON, rooted and has a recent clockworkmod recovery (v4.0.0.5).
So, my son is going to choose the rom he want (cyanogen i think) and let's go to flash !
BIG THANK again Bharat for your support!
[EDIT] : Cyanogen nightly 128 has been flashed. Everything is going OK ! My son is happy ! Thanks again Bharat !

Yes.
Cm7 has inbuilt oc kernel + inbuilt frequency setting option + inbuilt governers.
Go to settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance/CPU settings.

Creating ext partition on memory card depends on your need. It is not mandatory, but may be needed if you are out of phone memory. It gives you true apps2sd with the ability to move dalvik cache too. It moves every 3rd party app to the ext partition. After creating the ext partition you should flash the DTApps2sd from recovery to use the true apps2sd.
On the other hand, without creating ext partition, you can use the traditional android froyo + aps2sd which installs apps (almost all apps) on the android secure folder of memory card. It doesn't has the ability to move the cache. But you can move almost all the apps to sdcard. You need to use adb command "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2". This command is not even needed for cm7 since cm7 has inbuilt option for this command.
And creating ext3/ext4 may depend on the speed (class) of memory card. Also moving dalvik cache to sdcard should be done with a better class sdcard.
And personally for me, partitioning with cwm recovery gave bootloops (after flashing DTApps2sd) for a memory card but got success with other card. Anyway I used "gparted live CD" to partition my memory card which was a bit headache at first but finally got success.

So everything seems to be working fine with cyan 7 rc1
but only some questions.
1. i dont need dsp manager (and some other apps) to get more ram free , how can i deinstall it? (unpack the download , delete files [apk] , install cyan 7) is this the right way?
2. What are some good config for tweaks under settings? vm heaps and cache and so on....
3. With the govenor Smartass i cant get under 420mhz (min clock) overclock works. With other govenor the min clock is fine down too 122mhz. Why not with smartass?
3. I have installed facebook app from the market (1.6.1) and the login and logoff of facebook need loooong time ~30sec. .After login off i get and error and app crashes but everything is ok after that?!?
I hope that somebody can help me or is this the problem with the RC1?
thanks everyone

1: You can do that, or use apps like Titanium Backup / Root Uninstaller to uninstall apps like DSP Manager
2. I keep VM Heap Size at 24MB, Rest all are at Stock. I would rather not mess with them.
3. When you use Smartass, and, your screen is on, it will automatically set the lowest clock value to 528MHz. When the screen is off, it reverts to the set lowest value. Thus, it conserves battery when needed, and provides extra power when needed. Thereby- smart.
3. Can't help you with Facebook, Sorry. Don't have that installed.

[Q] Gold card making - Need helps

Gold card making - Need helps
1. According to this method,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035
I have searched and tried to make a gold card for my Wildfire by means of Goldcardtool. But the software couldn't detect my MMC(8GB Sandisk), I don't know why.
I already formatted my MMC to FAT32 via my notebook and already followed the instruction strictly.
2. The other way I have used that is S-OFF my wildfire by using AlphaRevX(the older version because my device has HBOOT 1.01.0002) and I have have some problem in activing the software because it tell me my KEY is "Wrong". I have repeated it again and again, and made sure that my Serial is right and the key typing is correct. If this because of the key I got form the website must use with AlphaRevX lasted version.
I have already read almost all topics about this problem and I can't figure it out.
Please help me.
Thanks everyone.
Goldcard - use a micro SD and not mmc.
Alpharevx - copy your serial into wordpad and change font just to make sure you type correct characters.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I think he was referring to MMC0 or MMC1 of goldcard tool.
Ok. Your hboot is 1.01.0002 right. I think presently there is no choice for having beta key for hboot 1.01.0002 (not sure).
I didn't get you what you have done. I think you had an older version of alpharevx software which supports 1.01.0002 . Then presently you have got the beta key for hboot 1.01.0001 and used it with older software for your device with hboot 1.01.0002. If this is what you have done, then how can you expect it to work.
Now I think you have to downgrade hboot to 1.01.0001 which you are facing issue with the gold card.
Regarding goldcard, run the goldcard tool as administrator. Then try MMC1 if MMC0 fails. If still the errors are present, use a different memory card. That's all I know.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Thank everyone for help.
My job is done by creating a gold card with a basic method(sth. like HEX editor) and now I can downgrade it to HB1.0xxx1 and make S-OFF.
But I gave found that I use too new CWMOD and then The ROMS cant be installed.
I will solve it later T_T.
Thank you very much. ^ ^

where are you from? i think you can use EU RUU as long as you not cdma user...thats marvelc...if it doesnt work..no big deal...that can be done again with another RUU.
READ THIS I FOUND ON ANOTHER FORUM:
100% SUCCESSFUL!!! I am now HBoot Unlocked I have awaited this day for to long...
Ok so I brought the phone from Telecom, it says its a A510b, model number PG76120 (found behind the battery, just below the SIM card slot)
So what I have done to achieve this result:
1: Simply sign up to the HTCdev website www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ once done, select the HTC Wildfire S from the drop list to begin
2: After accepting all the terms and agreements bla bla their is a list of ROMS, their was only 3 options for the model that I have PG76120, so I downloaded the HTC Thailand RUU
3: Ok so if you end up running the RUU it will tell you that the ROM is out of date with an error message, what I found out (this took me all day...) when you first open the RUU (this is if you run Windows) their will be a Temp folder made with all the files that the RUU needs to run, if you search the Temp Folder (usually found under the user folder in Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Temp) these files will only exist if you leave the RUU Program open, so just open it up and move the window to the side, search under the Temp folder for rom
4: You will find 2 zip folders named rom_01 and rom_02, copy these 2 zips to your desktop
5: Now change the name of rom_01 (im not 100% sure if its 01 or 02 that you need to do first, I cant remember) to PG76IMG and copy it over to a microSD, insert into your phone and boot into HBoot, it will go through the normal process of detecting and then opening the zip and will ask you if you wish to update the radio to v2 (it should only ask to update the radio, because you need to do it first before you use the second file which asks to update both the radio and hboot) allow to do so and it will do its thing and when completed ask to reboot.
6: Now change the name of the second rom (if I have the order right this should be rom_02) to PG76IMG, remove the first file you put on the microSD and replace it with second, back into HBoot, it will read the file and ask you to update HBoot and Radio, allow it to do so and it will update the HBoot, should say OK next to HBoot, once completed it will ask to be rebooted
7: To check that this has all happended correctly, go back into HBoot (remove your microSD before this) and you should have a pink box up the top stating *LOCKED* if you see this and your HBoot version is now 1.08.0099 (if you used the RUU that I did) you are now ready to go through the HTCdev Bootunlock process
8: Do the HTCdev Bootunlock process, it is straight forward and easy to do!
9: Forget needing to use the XTC and starting modding you HTC Wildfire S!!!
hope this helps
