Netflix

So the official netflix app is now out but only available on market for nexus s...I can't seem to find the apk but comments on engadget were saying the app worked great on their G2. Has anyone been able to find this? Is it legal to upload here since it is a free app?

just tried this on a Bell Desire Z in Canada...where they said it's not working yet. Got the apk from the Epic 4G forum as well. I can log into the app, pick a movie, it seems to play, but no sound or video. Just a black screen. A few seconds in it pops me out to the menu.

That was the issue I had on the non official app a while back. May be because of your region

edit: just rebooted, I had sound for a second, progress FTW!

I have CM7 on my G2 and same issue can hear sound for like 5 - 10 seconds with a black screen then jumps me back to the main menu. My Boss has a stock G2 and it works awesome.... making me start to wonder....

Sorry but what does that have to do with netflix? Is that rom even for g2/dz?
I'm using the stock gb tmo leak. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not

I can confirm that it works great on the T-Mobile G2 with Virtuous Fusion ROM.

Yah, I was wondering if anybody's tried the Netflix app on his rom. And yes, it is. It's based off the G2 Gingerbread OTA, if I remember correctly. He hasn't/doesn't post on here.

Works on G2 Stock but not on CM7
Okay, so here is what I have found out. On my G2 it works on my stock (rooted) rom, but doesn't on CM7.0.0. On CM7 I get about 5-10 seconds of sound with no picture then it exits.
So there must be something in the program that looks at some OS thing. One thing I noticed with CM7 vs STOCK is that market.android.com sees 2 different phones on my google account even though I have only 1 phone.
So the obvious question is can we fake CM7 to be reported as STOCK?

This is weird. I figured it was some incompatability issue with 2.3 but apparently HTC Evo users running CM7 are enjoying them some Netflix. What gives? This app has been confirmed not to work on CM7 for the G2 and I'm running a stock build based off the official OTA and all I get is sound and a white screen. Hopefully a fix comes around soon.....

Yeah I just flashed the new Virtuous Fusion with Sense 3.0 and netflix works on the G2 perfectly. This version is Android 2.3 and I believe the only 2.3 rom so far for the G2 confirmed to have netflix working besides stock 2.2. So it can't be that the netflix app is looking at the OS version. I would imagine the requirement to play netflix is something developers will easily be able to figure out and implement on roms from here on out.

Sounds to me it's AOSP gingerbread it has a problem with.

Just installed and tried it out on my G2 running CM7.0.2. Same problem as others, works great, I can start watching, get audio with no video, then drops me back at the main page after a few seconds.

Just check the Virtuous v1.0.1 ROM on my G2 and it failed to work.

Does netflix not work on 2.3.3? Because I can't find it on the market

Nope. When I opened up the Netflix app after updating to 2.3.3 it opened up the Netflix loading screen then the screen went white. The Netflix app is not showing up in the market when I search for it. I googled it and saw that Netflix acknowledged this issue and are working on fixing it.

That's pretty sad guys since I am running Decks 2.3.4 and I have Netflix and the latest running fine. There is a thread somewhere with working Netflix. Do a little searching guys and I will try and find my apk as well

Honestly, it all depends on what ROM you're running, not what version OS. I've been running stock Netflix from the market perfectly fine from MIUI, which has been based off of GB for about 2 or 3 months, now...

I had the same issue when updating to the latest cm7 nightly build. I had it on nightly 87 but not 88 which i am still currently on. I just found a netflix apk and downloaded it. Works fine

My Netflix has worked fine on #86 2.3.4 until last night. I guess it was pulled from the market because I can't find it nor could I play any movies. Now when I try to watch it just says some type of error.

I'm not rooted (I know, why the hell not) and before the update to 2.3.3 when I loaded up the netflix app it would show the red screen then go white shortly afterwards. I uninstalled then downloaded again but got the same results. All this before the update. Now it has been pulled from the market. (my guess is that it won't show in the market if you're on gingerbread) So could anyone post a link to a working netflix apk. If not could you send it to my email address: [email protected]

[Q] NFL Mobile will not work.

I am running an older version of Newt's Incredible sensation today, and downloaded NFL mobile, It said I am not a verizon customer. Is there anything I can do so it will work? Here is a screenie of the problem.

i had the same problem today. are you rooted? i wiped my cache in recovery and it started working. also read somewhere that you needed to log into the my verizon app to get it to work, i never had to do that yet.

Does anyone know if its possible to use this app if your not a verizon costumer. I have the app working on my verizon phone, but i have a second metro phone that i would like to get this working on.. Is the live feed coming from verizon servers?

I read that with the newer versions, Verizon has locked it down even more and it's a big pain to get it working.

I am on the newest version running cm7 nightlies obviously rooted and mobile works no problems.

I just moved from omfgb to the newest cm7 nightlies #81 and now my nfl app isnt working. It works fine but as soon as I try to play video, the app shuts off. (goes back to home screen with no force close notice) I uninstalled and re-installed and cleared my cache in recovery.. still not working for me.

Yeah same thing for me...can use it except for streaming red zone and videos on newest cm7 nightly

well watching redzone for free only lasted a few weeks. you have to pay for vcast to watch red zone now? unistalling.

Sprint TV works now - Need to upgrade or new install required

Update - Sprint tv upgrade fails on fd02.
You can use the backup from previous version (if you have) or install apk attached.
Some more info is available at post #5.
Update - it appears that moving from tfc24 to stock rooted fd02 is causing some app failures. Sprint tv & titanium backup are the examples based on my test (no factory reset).
Moving from Calk's fc24 to fd02 had no issue.

So far I've heard lots of people complaining about Sprint TV is not working.
Just before, I re-flashed my rom to FC22 (it's my third time moving back to FC22) and checked Sprint TV. It's working now (at least for me). FYI, my current rom is Calk's Stock Rom FC22 and I didn't apply his Bare Rom Converter.
When I launched app, it asked me to upgrade, so I did, then
Sprint TV launched again and asked me to download the new Sprint TV app, so I did.
It's launched third time and brought to me to the HD app upgrade (need $2.99 to subscribe). From the subscription screen, I just clicked 'back arrow' because I didn't want to pay for HD. From the Sprint TV Home page, now everythings are working now.
If your Sprint TV app is not working, try it again. It seems like current app needs to be upgrade or replaced to make it work.
Attached is the current version Sprint TV apk (which is working on my phone) and if you are not able to upgrade, try attached apk.
How to install -
1. backup your current Sprint TV App
2. Uninstall current Sprint TV and install with attached
(or just replace /data/app/com.mobitv.client.sprinttvng-1.apk with attached apk)
permission 644.

I tried to download the Sprint TV from SprintZone. The downloaded Sprint TV app asked me to update the app but the update was not succeful and Sprint TV FC'd.
If it happens to you, you can download the attached app. The same way that I mentioned above. It worked like a charm on FI25 Stock Rom.

After flashing fd02 Sprint tv is fc during the upgrade.
2 ways to get back to business -
• use the apk file on first thread
• if you have apk backup from previous version restore it. For me, titatium backup worked fine.

It doesn't support jellybean yet or it is not compatible for rooted users.
Did you go to the bottom of the general section and choose to post in an outdated thread? **sigh**

Nope. Just still want to use the app after the months have gone by. Just because the thread is old the desire for the app is not.

It's been a long time for me since I tried SprintTV. I'll check it out how it works based on current version and stock ROM (FI25). But at this time, I don't have any access to AOSP based ROMs.
Update: I downloaded Sprint TV from Sprint Zone. It had the same problem that most of Sprint Tv users experienced. So, I uninstalled Sprint Tv and replaced it with the apk file at top thread. It still works like a charm on Stock FI25 ROM.

Tested it now. Might be best skipping the intro and it fc when trying to change the wake command. Also double tap home didn't work for me either.
Clear data if you have fc on start up. But it does work. Can google search and text etc.

i've used the new one for checking the weather for location, sending text and calling - all seems to work well.

I install S-Voice from the apk from frandroid.com
And it works, open apk, understand french language...
I hope this apk will mature quickly

on HTC desire the installaton crash but, after a reboot, it works
nice one!

I do not have a crash during installation.
I'm on ics 4.0.4 bravo cyanogen mod 9 RC 3.4.U1.
And it works.

I suggest to wait for a year or so, so that developers can stabilize the system

It works if u install it as a system app. Although its a waste of battery IMHO.
