so i just flashed my epic back to stock but i find myself in dilemma? should I update the software to eco5 or efo2 also what are the major differences between the two. Any answers are appreciated.
If it helps i do plan on installing the new acs updater app that they just released
and if ones a better battery saver
Well ef02 can be unstable for some people but I get great battery with it... like 5 hours screen on time and its GINGERBREAD!! Ec05 is more stable and srf is great, I just couldn't wait for gingerbread... I would reccomend for ef02 marcusiants rom that you can find on the acs site and for ec05 I would reccomend syndicate rom frozen with genocide... battery life is great on that too... hope this helped

Stay on ec05 download sfr 1.2 put it on sd card download either genocide kernel 1.1 or 2.0 after flashing sfr 1.2 you got to flash the kernel then reboot & like what you see

I would try them both, it doesnt take long to flash.. there are quite a few options for ec05 roms, not as many ef02 roms.. of course I recomend my roms, EF02Plus, and EC05Plus built for speed and stability... and SRF 1.2 (EC05 ROM) from ACS
I reccommend EC05 stock. Then Root your phone. Then find 'Root Installer' on the market, and remove Sprint's Bloatware. (Be careful though, removing the wrong things can cause instability so read carefully and backup apps.)

Eg22 is working very well on my wife's epic. Speedy and smooth for once.

All the other kernels are making me get a line in my screen when scrolling. The only one that didn't do that was stock#17, can someone help me fix my kernel problem or least direct me to stock 17. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

You do know rls5 is out right?
What did you wipe before you flashed it? I would highly recommend using Calikulin's format all zip
Flash this, and then reflash the ROM. This should help you
Make sure everything is up to date (PRI, PRL, Radio)
Then flash a #15 kernel. That will fix your problem. Netarchy has a couple of good ones out and MS79723 has a really good SBC one out as well.
RLS4 is packaged with an outdated kernel, which when everything is updated causes screen tearing which is what you're experiencing.
Update everything, update kernel and you're good to go.
As an alternative, RLS5 has an updated kernel if you don't wanna go 3rd party with the kernel flashing, so backing up with titanium backup or my backup (both have free versions in the market) and then doing a full wipe and flash will also fix your problem.
Hope this helps.
The only thing wrong with 5 is me updating the radios. I didn't wanna do the full wipe for optimal use. The screen tearing happened on 5 and 4. Any kernal besides stock.

So that format all gives me updated software or what?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So I decided to just update my PRL and that worked. My phone is not lagging or tearing. I didn't think that would do the trick but it worked. Thanks guys.

i am having MAJOR problems with rls 5 though. i'll see if i can get them sorted out. if not, i'll post. i think caulkin's 1.8 extended data settings messed me up, bcuz now i can only get text messages while in a phone call, and i dont think i am getting 3g.
One reason why I just stuck with 4. My internet was slow AND I had that browser slowness 4 host file flashed..just went back to 4..

wipe everything and flash, use ec05 still ?
wipe everything 3x, flash cm7 then flash google apps zip then reboot ?
I got the best battery life on CM7 Alpha 4. I had it barebone and underclocked to 800mhz. I got around 20 hours on stock battery. Since then I wussied out and bought an extended battery. After that Syndicate seems to be doing better than CM7!
I also got around 17 hours on Bonsai. But I couldn't handle the low memory problem.

I would recommend either viperrom synergy, or syndicate 1.1.1 with Rodderik's Genocide kernel. In combination with juice defender my phone last all day sometimes 30 hours depending on usage.

I recommend Urban Fury. The only issues I have had were my own fault. Viper Synergy is really solid as well

Last night I installed legendary Rom, but after installation, my Power widget didnt show up.... I tried clearing data/cache, re-installing, same thing. I have tried a few techniques advised on these forums with no luck. Today I installed ACS ICS ROM, and still no luck. Will I ever get this widget back? Anyone have any advice?
I had this very problem after flashing Legendary rom. The actual icons for each button on the widget weren't showing up.
I removed the widget from all screens. Then after doing about 5 reboots, fixing permissions and doing a backup in CWM, the widget returned to normal.
Weird bug. I also made sure to do an md5 checksum comparison before I installed the rom too.

Yeah, no big deal really. I'm a major noob to this.... but if I ever have to odin back to ec05... this problem should return to normal right?

Not necessarily.
During my upgrade process, I decided to ditch all my data and start with 100% fresh on stock before going custom. So I ODIN'ed back to EC05 before moving to EI22. Once on EI22, I then put Legendary rom on my phone and noticed this power control widget bug.
Yeah, I may Odin back to ec05.

I had the same problem with the power control widget on the Legendary Rom. No biggie: I used Widgetsoid to create a better power control widget.
This happened on the rom I am on as well. Put the widget on your homescreen and give it about ten minutes. The icons should appear eventually.

Ok, u guys know that last night I installed the urban precision v2 rom. The akward part is, it was working fine for awhile, and then a couple hrs later, I started having all kinds of problems. My phone froze up, no buttons wanted to work and it was rebooting all kinds of ways. Especially the fact it rebooted into cwm and then it also when into download mode. I had to pull the battery, go into cwm. Do a factory reset and restore my nandroid back to cleangb. Can this sudden issue be a problem with the rom or kernel? Plus when it was working fine with this rom at the begining, my phone was running super fast. I mean like no lag what so ever. So any idea what may caused this sudden issue? Cuz I honestly don't know.

So I'm running cm7 with nyan kernel and when I type on my keyboard it sometimes misses a character. Is this kernel related would flashing another kernel fix it? I remember this was a problem back on froyo and there was the flashable zips to fix it but I haven't seen anything like that in a while.
Also, I restored a backup of my swype keyboard (the blue one from most of the tw themes) and it works perfectly, but everytime I reboot I get all these FC's on it and it doesn't go away until I restore "app only" in tb. Its not that big of a problem but its annoying. Is there any way to get rid of that? I believe it also is a cm7 related issue since it didn't happen to me on tw or cm9.

I've had a similar problem with CM9 Nightly on Nyan ICS. Once I unrooted back to stock using ODIN and rooted again (clean install) with the same ROM, with a different kernel this time, my keyboard seemed to run smooth.
My keyboards problem was it would disappear outta the blue.. I had to exit out of my messaging app completely, sometimes even thatt wouldn't do it.
Hope that helps somehow!
