hi guys
i have tried various methods and i am using a new battery on rcmix3d on leedroid's kernel.
BT,WIFI is off. Data is on 3g 24 hours.
My battery drains 1% every minute when data is on even though its not polling for any syncing or data.
my sync is set to once a day for emails and manual for the rest.
i have also done a battery calibration and still no joy.
any tips?
Download current widget, and set it to log your current drain while idling. Sense rom should be around 1ma-3ma idle.
thanks..
actually my its ard 1ma to 4ma idle.
this is when juicedefender disables the data.
but the moment data kicks in, its spikes to a max of 280ma and the battery starts draining. i can actually see it dropping per minute. the moment data is off. everything is as per normal.
does 3g really consume that much of batt?
No it doesn't use that much at all. Did u do a full wipe with install of rcmix?
Do you have any apps installed that may drain battery. Try using a task killer to close all apps and see how it goes.
Just to be sure have u tried turning off mobile data and checking battery with it off. The maybe new radio may help
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
other than 2 camera apps, ebay, paypal, foursquare and facebook, i have nothing else.
and notifications has been turned off for all the above.
i tried task killers and they really didnt help much.
i did do a full wipe and battery does last way much longer with data off.
i'm also using the latest m2 radio and underclocked the cpu via setcpu
an advise on which radio would be better?
Go with the radio suggested in the thread for your rom. If none suggested just grab something different to what your using and try it out.
You shouldn't need to UV the CPU. Mine runs at 1.4 no problem. Let me know how I get on.

Just realised your using a new battery too. The have u tried your old one just incase its a battery problem.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
yeah..the old battery was replaced with a new one by HTC service centres.
i was just reading the radio thread and decided to flash the corresponding RIL for my radio.
i'll try that for a day and see how that works out.
thank you so much for your help and i'll keep you posted
you problem is radio related.
flash the suggested radio of your rom.
had the same problem a few days back. 150-250mA idle, when i deactivated my data connection, it went down zo 1-4mA again.

I had the same problem, 4 hours of sleep would sometimes see 20% disappear. New radio and kernel did the trick.

Keep in mind, cell reception is also a varible factors in regards to battery life, but with the situation as precribed it is more than likely to be radio/RIL selection. Also remember that the newest versions of radio and RIL may not always offer the best reception and/or battery efficiency, ideally use the one as recommended by the ROM/Kernel. You may also consider searching the forum for see the recommended versions of radio and RIL to match.
During new flashes of the ROM, under CWM, you can also delete battery stats which should allow a more accurate report of the battery.
Hope it helps.
thanks for all the info guys
i guess its probably a radio/ril issue.
i'm testing out various ones right now.
anyone using rcmix3d 2.0 got a recommendation for radio/ril combo?

Download Android System Info from the Market. Look out for anything that is using an excessive amount of processing power.
After that, you can see if it is the radio.

hi there
i will try the telus radio soon after trying out the one recommended by the rom dev.
what am i supposed to be looking for in android system info?
batt stats bring me to the default batt stats that is in the android system

After I installed MIUI-au 0.12.111 R2(first time installing it) I Got really bad Battery life. With the stock rom on my HTC Desire I would go 3 days before charging it(light use), now i can only get 1 day, I have looked around and did everything I could find, I reset the battery stats. made sure I let it die and charged it up fully a few times. I have tried the new version of the Radio and RIL. I have tried setcpu and I can only get 1 day with it. I love miui but I can not keep it with such bad battery life. am I expecting too much from it? or is there something i am missing/ can try?
Thanks

What version of the Radio and RIL are you using?
Not flashed RIL as the matching RIL for the recommended Radio (5.09.05.30) is already in the MIUI ROM, stock out of the box.So yes, I am currently using radio 5.09.05.30 (MIUI recommended) which has given me excellent battery life, even with FroYo roms. I have not experienced any Wi-Fi issues either.
EDIT: The information in this link may also interest you as it talks about different radio versions and associated RIL, and the effect they can have on battery life especially: http://www.miui-au.com/faq/radios-radios-radios/
Hope this helps you out.
Thanks I will try downgrading my radio and see what happens.
To further save battery life, i.e. when idle at night, you can also try enabling Airplane mode at night and disable in the morning. There are apps in the marketplace that can do this for you automatically between set periods so you don't have to bother doing it manually.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks for the help, but it still had very poor life about 6% per hr idle so I went back to the stock rom. Is it possible to install app2sd+ on the stock Rom or can you recommend a close to stock Rom with that and maybe a few other small changes?

Ok guys n gals, here's a puzzle for you all.
A few days ago, I noticed that my standby consumption had gone from around 10 mA to around 40mA using mobile data but with all other radios and GPS off.
For testing purposes I disabled location services through wireless. No effect.
I have tried with several Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs and the results are identical.
I have also tried with different radios, flashed using both fastboot and recovery.
I have used the ROMs without settings or app restore and I haven't installed any other apps than those included in the various ROMs. Additionally, i have tried various kernels.
Using Airplane mode shaves of a couple of mA.
aLogcat isn't showing any weird lines, mostly garbage collections.
I have tried searching far and wide and I have tested freezing various potential culprit apps using titanium backups' freeze function and all the battery calibrations/fixes I have found, but nothing helps.
At the moment I am using Oxygen RC6 with their recommended radio 5.09.05.30_2 and I am still seeing the same issue. The phone has gone from making it almost two days with moderate usage to barely a day with little usage.
The phone is S-OFF and I am using the N1table.
Can anyone please help with this? Apologies if this problem has been described before. I really tried searching before writing tis, but it could be that my search fu is weak.
Have you found a solution? In my case i'm getting ~100mA with the phone sleeping... and I can't seem to fix that.

Yeah, did that. No joy.
Maybe i'm totaly off, but, do you use Facebook app v1.5 ? If so, that's one power drain app because they messed up with new chat feature.
To anyone in Japan with horrible battery life, this might be helpful!
Solution for battery drain:
Just found this japanese guy who had the same problem with an Oxygen rom.
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/majadroid/20101223/1293094736
He explains what he changed in build.prop and has packaged it as an update here:
http://www.multiupload.com/5EAK6IUSQR
I am flashing it now and will report problems (or success I hope) in a while. According to the OP he managed to get to 1~2% hour drain which is very promising.
EDIT: It seems to have worked!!! I am back to about 10mA with screen off!
Thanks for all the replies.
The last thing I tried was a total restore using a HTC RUU, so I am now S-ON
This didn't help much though, even if I was down to 27 mA on some occasions, maybe that's normal for HTC roms
I have rooted it again but not S-OFFed and I am running the latest CM7 build (#12).
@TheGhost1233: I have tried the wifi sleep policy.
@m4dm4n123: No I don't use facebook app. Additionally, I have tried removing as many apps as possible only keeping some google apps and currentwidget.
@slyn4ice: Thanks for the tip. I have just flashed it but I am not noticing any big difference. I am seeing a few mA:s reduction, but still far from 5-10 mA in standby... I'll let it run for a day and see if it improves.
I am still open for suggestions...
Hi wildfire users,
my girlfriend got her wildfire yesterday.
The first thing I've fine, was to root it and check the standby battery drain.
It was between 27 and 50ma in AIRPLANE mode, without sometimes at 120??
My device got 1-2 in airplane and 3-5 without.
Thought it would getting better after flashing cm7, took the rc1...not really.
Any suggestions? Iam an experienced android user, but my options are running out, what else I can do.
What I've done:
Checked drain with current widget,
checked partial wakelocks with spare parts-seems okay.
Uninstalled all custom user apps I had installed.
Read here, that reflashing the radio fixes some issues...didn't tried that yet.
Any other ideas?
What drainages do you've got?
Waiting for your answers.
Edit: perhaps it will help to let it charge it to 100% and check again...maybe let it also discharge one time ^^.¿?
....think i was perhaps a bit over motivated...

Battety drain will be above normal just after flashing a ROM. You need to make a full charge and then go to recovery and wipe the battery status.
Then do few complete charge-discharge cycles. Then it will be definitely better than stock rom. And use CPU settings in smart way. Work on the minimum setting and governor. Also depends on other factors like live wallpapers etc..,

Battery calibration gives accurate reading only, it will not improve the weared out battery.
When shifting between roms, the battery will not give accurate reading because not all roms utilize the battery in the same manner (Rom saves the details in batterystats.bin file). So, what if it gives wrong reading. There might be a possibility that it shows 100% even when not fully charged. So we think battery drains faster, but the fact is we haven't charged it fully. (correct me for any errors).
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yes showing 100% wrongly must be the only situation where battery calibration be blamed. But 8-10 hrs of charging from deep-down-zero should definitely make it full, right ?
Whats your general time taken for charging in standby mode (WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth Off).
I am experiencing heavy battery drain with WiFi, since I installed Sunabh ROM. (He adds a switch off wifi notification to hide this fault. Cunning.)
Any solutions ? May be re-flash the radio or change the kernel ?
Dude, attack the CID bug.
I resolved my issue without even switching of my phone once, let alone flashing anything.
Running for more than 2 days now. \m/

I know. I had rcmix3d i flashed cm7 android revolution and many more. But the same with all of them. I did full wipe even i wiped my sd card...!

p.s : dont OC your CPU!

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
there is no recommendation for RADIO ... what works for me might just be bad for you!
so - RADIO is the file you flash using ADB , and RIL(radio libraries) is the zip file you flash with CWM just like a ROM .
So search a thread with RADIO and RIL and change it!

I went from Rcmix3D to BlackIce 1.27 (Cm7 based Rom) and my battery sucked. I switched my radio from 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M to 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M that seems to of fixed my battery problems.
Also some things that worked for me:
1) Switching to 2G when not heavily using your phone to increase standby time
2) Use spare parts to switch 'End button behaviour' to 'Go to sleep'.
3) Keep your brightness low/Auto
4) Try a different kernel (LordModUE latest CFS/BFS)
Hope some of these settings help
mad battery drain
I had a similar problem when I first got my DHD there's a bug on one fw that jams the CPU at 100%, the simple fix that worked for me was to turn USB debugging on in the setting/applications/development menu. I think that's the only thing that could explain such mad battery loss, also get urself a system analyser app that shows what ur CPU is doing to c if it is at 100%

someone check this log file taken from current widget.....-.- (THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS BETWEEN 50% AND 15)
the phone was locked and stanby and i lost 35%battery in 30 minutes!
i fully charged calibrated the battery all night and by the noon all the battery gone...
i listened to music about 15 minutes and used the wifi for about 20 minutes..
I have the same issue with mine , im running latest Android revolution and 1dec radio
You should flash any ROM you like then reboot. don't restore any apps or settings. install current widget and do a log for at least 2 hours. Leave the phone in idle the whole time. Battery drain shouldn't be higher than 10mA. If battery drain is Ok start restoring your apps one by one and find out which causes the battery drain
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
It drains on a fresh flashed rom , without restoring any apps
maybe try to flash a RUU just to make sure. I know you will lose root permissions but since you have tried different radios, batteries and roms there isnt that much left for you to try. the only things that comes to my mind is a hardware failure. what else could it be!? if you still have guarantee, i would recommend you sending it to reparation.

hey guys...
i have tried everything to stop the battery drain
switched to many different roms
under-clocked processor to 768mhz
set a black wallpaper
brightness set to minimal
did battery calibration
switched of all background processes and made sure no location seeking programs works.
used CPU spy, the cell does go to deep sleep
tried juice defender and deep sleep battery saver
but nothing seemed to work
phone locked on full charge drains 40 to 50% in night without using.
then after a few days later i restored everything and opened airplane mode and I went to sleep, in the morning the battery didn't went low a single percent. battery health is good as works really well on airplane mode.
i have low signal issues but i get text msgs and calls with no problems at all, and my explorer and s3 seems to perform well
my all type pf connectivity is off example: location access WiFi Bluetooth etc only gsm is working, i manually selected the network and set it to gsm only rather them auto from *#*#4636#*#*.
what shall i do??
i searched and tried many things from the internet.
i really want those calls i cant always be on airplane mode, the problem is 200% of the antenna draining juice to get more signals. please help.
is there any way to stop the battery drain or restricting the antenna to consume less juice?
PS:using cm10.1 by nightly version:19 Aug 13.
anyone??
one thing more i installed better battery stats it says
no or unknown signal
no data connection
and it is running continuously like since i installed betterbatterystats.
where can i get this bug?? or disable this service??
please give a detailed explanation.
There are a few good apps to try I use
battery mix (I think this is one of the best) and wakelock detector both from my the market.

Battery drain
I´m having same problems with my DHD, currently im using 4.2.2 Samsation (was it named like that but anyways 4.2.2). Without using phone it still drains 40% in few hours.. I got replacement battery from eBay and thought that would help but didnt help at all. I´ve tried different roms but would like to have newest roms without battery draining so much, so could someone share how to get it better?
And about changing radio, was there a possibility that you may brick ur device if installing wrong radio?
Thanks already!

as i mentioned bro the problem is purely regarding the network sucking down the battery my bluetooth gps wfi everything is turned off... i use 2g gsm only... if u put ur cell in airplane mode the battery doesnt goes down by a single percent. its gsm standyby sucking the battery.
and regarding the radio if u do it right and reasearch a little u wont brick it for sure. got my radio from here:http://www.icsforums.com/forum/showthread/26951

yup there was nothing, no wakelocks etc i even underclocked my processor to 768mhz... the thing is the signal reception cause when i turn the cell in airplane mode and leave it over night the battery doesnt goes down a single percent. it acts solid.
i get around 18 asu signals at my place i check it from *#*#4636#*#*
but the thing is i was using an HTC explorer before switching to desire hd and with the gsm mode(no airplane mode) the battry stayed solid like the desire hd one with airplane mode(didnt dropped a single percent) at the same house same place.
dont know what going on.
