[Q] Unrooting help - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've been searching this site and Google for sometime now, i need to unroot my Desire as i'm sending it off to get repaired.
i have found that the way to unroot is to use an RUU, but i don't know which one to use, my phone specs are:
- SLCD screen
- UK T-Mobile branded
should i use:
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755.exe
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.0 6.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
or
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release
i also seen a thread about a PB99IMG file and using a gold card?
any help would be great, seen so many threads but none to answer my question fully.

My hboot is 0.93.0001
and radio is 5.10.05.17_2
If this helps, please let me know!

when you rooted your phone, did you make a nandroid backup of the stock HTC 2.2 froyo ROM? if you did it makes finding the right RUU for you A LOT easier.
If you do have it then restore that, go to settings/ about phone/ software and check the Build number, and cross reference it with the RUU.

i didn't nandroid backup stock 2.2
my build number is 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys
would this RUU work? RUU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_UK_2.12.110.4_R_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157560_signed.zip

If you want to fully unroot, and restore the stock HBOOT and get S-ON, then yes, you do need to flash the alpharev downgrader

When you are not s-off, you do not need this downgrader, because you could not have changed your partition sizes.

AFAIK all you really need to do is find the correct RUU for your phone and run it since you're S-ON.
Someone else back me on this? I'm not that familiar with unrooting lol.

How to turn S ON with alpharev HBOOT

Can someone please tell me how to turn S ON on my HTC Desire? I ran the RUU for my phone (US Cellular desire) and it put me back to stock, I just still have S OFF Alpharev. I've searched for a while and can't find anything. Any help will be appreciated.
What is your current HBOOT version?
I think you need to flash the hboot downgraded from the alpharev site. I would search first as I've seen this question asked before buy I'm not 100% on the outcome

i agree, we need to know how u root/s-offed ur cdma desire (bravoc), as the apharev hboots are only for desire gsm (bravo)..so u can't use the alpharev downgrader i think
post here ur bootloader hboot infos
Yeah exactly.
The S-on security flag is in Radio's NVRAM. Obviously the radio is different between GSM and CDMA devices.
Historically on GSM, Alpharev S-off (1.8 and lower) flashed a special hboot which ignored this flag.
On CDMA Unrevoked forever did something different and didnt change the hboot

unfortunally, i think there is no way to go back to s-on with that hboot 6.x on the desire cdma
that hboot have a downgrade protection, so the ruu can't overwrite it
maybe you can try to change it manually, doing a "fastboot flash hboot hboot.img" using the hboot img file that you can extract from your ruu exe on your pc
Doesn't work needless to say. With unrevoked we could flash the h-boot and stay s-off with alpha-rev you can't. I was just trying this as I was bored using the uscc eclair ruu.
Fastboot doesn't work either gives error can not flash h-boot on the phone. Hopefully that helps you out.
Edit: By the way qb what you doing with a uscc desire anyway? You venturing away from the photon or something I seen you over there but at this time there is no way to flash it I have found. Making img files does nothing and neither does fastboot. I am tempted to try the downgrader for the bravo for the heck of it as I don't care to brick it. Cept the woman would shoot me.

[q] s-off help needed!!!!!

I try to get my desire S-OFF'ed (it's PV4 and 0.93.0001 hboot). But when i try to flash the hboot via fastboot the singature gets rejected. And revolutinary method is not working too (i get the error that " Your device ace, with hboot 0.93.0001 is not supported at this time").
Any help?
COULD SOME1 GIME THE LINK OF AN OFFICIAL RUU THAT WOULD UPDATE MY HBOOT TO
HTC Desire (bravo) 0.93.0001, 1.02.0001
HTC Desire CDMA (bravoc) 1.06.0000
BTW. HOW TO KNOW WITCH ONE I HAVE?? CMDA or THAT OTHER ONE.
Isn't Ace = Desire HD?
Well, I don't know. I've took this phone from my mom and gave her the wildfire. I think the desire is rooted, because i installed a ROM 3.0 sense and ive got like 200KB of free space.. Im trying to s-off it and that son of an linux doesnt work... :S HELP HELP HELP!

So why my HBOOT says its a BRAVO huh? I know its a desire because the name on the box, hboot and working roms of desire. IS IT POSSIBLE TO RE-ROOT AND S-OFF BY UPGRADING THE HBOOT TO THE GOOD VERSION?
From personal experience on a Desire, messing with the HBoot can have a chance of bricking the device. I got stuck where I could only enter commands through fastboot and adb, then tried everything possible to get it back to no avail.

That was not my question. My question was, why you don't use alpharev live cd to get s-off? You wrote you could not go s-off with revolutionary. So you must be still s-on. And with s-on you cannot use fastboot.

So you burned the iso with magiciso on a cd and the computer does not boot from it? Is that right?
If not, could you explain this sentence "Evertime i try to make that live cd with MagicIso my dvd rom opens up" a little more (what exactly do you do?), please? Because I do not understand it.
I found you had to have a stock rooted rom installed to use alpharev 1.8 i followed the instructions from here and all worked first time

How it works is with a RUU you can only use the same version or newer. This is because you cannot flash an older hboot. The downgrader puts a very low hboot version on so all ruu hboots are seen as newer, even though they are not

Restore S-ON and stock Hboot

Hello all,
I have put the S-OFF and the Hboot 6.93.1002 using the revolutionary.io tool.
Right now, I want to put my phone with the stock hbook and S-ON.
I looked for it and I saw a lot of people saying to install old RUUs.
I tried these ones:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121684.exe
RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread).exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
And all of them failed, they do not restore hboot.
Could you help me? My phone is GSM version.

Which RUU ROM to use?

Hi,
I would like to return to the stock ROM on my Desire. Problem is, I don't know which RUU to get. At the moment I am using CyanogenMod 7.
Did some digging and found the app called CID Getter. If there is any info there I must provide, please tell me.
Also is there anything special to be done with the RUU or do I install it as I do any rom?
Thank you.

Would doing this remove s-off or clockwork or anything else? Or could I just re instal another custom after?
It will remove everything. You can use revolutionary after you install a custom recovery and s-off.
This is the kernel, albeit you'll have a hard time achieving what you told and it will net you virtually no gain because poor cpu is not the main drawback this phone has.
