Did you possibly flash new firmware and that happened? You need to give us some more details.
Well it sometimes just randomly reboots...

I don't got problems with listening to music, maybe some app is messing your phone. if you can't find the problem do a "Factory data reset", if this doesn't help you can bring the phone back and get a new one. It can always be a faulty phone.
My Arc sometimes reboots on me too but not randomly. It's always when it's doing something that maxes the CPU and I switch between apps simultaneously. It's quite annoying, no doubt. My old Desire never did this.
Hoping for a future fw update!
I'm on my third week with my arc and it never randomly rebooted.

2 weeks in and 2 reboots once during a call and once using google navigation

It's being reported in the SE forum as well. You don't notice the reboot unless u put your phone within your view the whole day. Thats when you will notice the random reboots.

try ddfw, I ensure you will get one.
I even encountered one when the screen was off and it's doing nothing

I'm pretty confident its caused by buggy software and not broken hardware.
Looking forward to flashing some custom roms and kernels to get around this and up the perfomance
15 times
my arc have randomly rebooted at least 15 times in the past 3 days. it's so annoying. what's that thing with stuffing tissue paper on the back does it work?
i've reflashed mines twice now, and done reset to factory default on top of that after the second flash for good measure, and it's still rebooting when it feels like it. i uninstalled a weather widget, and i got almost 5 hours of constant uptime. i'm about to reflash it again and not install anything, maybe just battery monitor so i can tell how many hours/minutes i can get before it reboots again.
i read about the battery fit, and i have tried various things to try and see if that was the issue, but nothing physical seems to make it reboot, and like some others, i have seen it reboot when the lcd is off and the phone isn't doing anything.
i'd really like to be able to use this arc!
mine just had the first random reboot...first I thought that the battery was all drained out but then realised after switching it back on that it was at 20%...
the phone was on idle, locked...weird!!!
Just had my first random reboot after a months use, was using google nav while charging from the cigarette lighter. Quite annoying as i was trying to find my way somewhere and suddenly realised i hadnt had any instructions for a while. The phone had gotten quite hot - i think google nav must work it pretty hard.

If you use the home button to switch between recent apps a lot (i do) then it's pretty obvious if your phone's been rebooted as the recently used apps list is empty, so i'm fairly sure this is the first time my phone's rebooted on its own.
Random reboot here, too. ^^
I was typing an email with Google Mail app (with wifi and mobile data connection turned off, actually), when the screen became all coarse and broken (does anyone remember old DOS games crashes? ^^) and then it rebootet. Everything fine afterwards except for my email, which was gone.

Happened to me once... exactly as you described except I was retrieving email at that time, not typing or touching the screen at all.
I've recently applied a Zagg screen protector on my A100. The tablets screen is extremely sensitive. For more than a week, I would get random spurts of the device registering "phantom" touches in the very lower right hand corner of the screen. This would happen most often after waking the thing up, and continue for a few minutes. It seems to have died down and remedied itself, it has been behaving recently.
As a result of the phantom touches, I somehow lost the "system tray" time/date/wifi/settings in the lower right. I can still get to settings through a desktop widget, but I'd prefer it always accessible. I like to think i've been though every option. But I'm admitting defeat, I didn't see a check box to re-enable it anywhere.
Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about your problem. Have you tried a factory reset? You may want to go to the development section and download one of the stock roms there and see if this solves your problem....timothy

Anyone else having this same issue where your unlock screen shifts so that not all the number pad is visible to unlock the phone? I keep having this happen to me.
I'm completely stock

Time to root!
Whoa. I never even knew you could get the number pad to show up on the lock screen. I have had my lock screen sift before. It happened once about 2 weeks ago. I just reset the phone and it hasn't happened since. Is this something that keeps happening to you?
Unfortunately this happens quite often and requires me to reboot the phone to unlock it.
I had this issue once with the pattern lock as well. Shifted up and right leaving only the lower left exposed and had to reboot.

+1 it's happened to me a few times. Had to restart phone to get it properly aligned again.

This has never happened to me on the lock screen personally, but my girl had this happen to her phone randomly one day at work and afterwards she found out her IMEI code on the phone had been blocked, had to send it back in for a replacement.
It's possible if you lose your data connection under certain conditions this may happen. I'm assuming this might also occur if the screen turns on while trying to change it's orientation as this has happened to me in certain programs which required a reboot to fix (this occurred while reading during the 5 second period between the screen shutting off automatically and the screen locking therefore the screen had not yet locked before it was turned back on).
Yes, have had it happen to be as well. Am rooted. Reboot seems to be the only solution.

Happened to me once too, and I'm stock, just a glitch
It usually only happens when playing a bigger game like Real Racing 3 or Heroes of Order & Chaos. The screen will stop receiving any input for a second or two, then be fine. It's happened since I was unrooted on stock, and on every ROM since after I rooted, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with that. Is it a hardware problem or a security thing or what?

Then it isn't random. Your phone is either overheating to the point of forcing a reboot or running out of ram and triggering a reboot.
You mean a screen reboot? Overheating is actually probably causing it. It doesn't reboot the phone or anything, I just am unable to use the screen for a second. I'll try to keep the phone cool now.

I am going out of my mind. I've tried all ROMS, kernels there are. Currently I'm on Trinity kernel + .200 JB.
The phone sometime just goes crazy. I unlock it, open the dialer the phone itself starts making a call, lowers the volume or ups it. I cancel the call, it makes it again. I close the dialer, open the contacts and it opens a random contact, I'm not even given a chance to scroll. It happens irregardless of the app, while on the home screen it will open an app by choice. I have to reset it and most of the time that works, but sometimes it doesn't.
The last FW I tried was GB with DoomKernel 4a. I was hoping it was a JB issue, but it happened there too. Can anyone pinpoint what is the issue? Hardware fault it's gotta be...perhaps a bad touchscreen digitizer?
P.S. Random phone reboots, shutdowns are also quite frequent lately.
Sounds like a hardware fault. Or possibly a ghost?

Google seems to suggest it's a faulty touchscreen digitizer.
Damn, with service centers here, I'll be without a phone for half a month at least.

Half a month is better than 1 month for fixing a digitizer in Sony Center...mine software default and 1 month needed to repair
