[Q] Samsung boot logo missing - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been installing ROMs back and forth, DRockstar's clean EC05 ROM + kernel, ACS 1.1, Compkid23's Urban Regeneration then finally now back to DRockstar's clean EC05 ROM + kernel. I didn't realize until just now that my Samsung logo boot screen (not the animation) is missing, it's just blank screen when I rebooted the phone; the boot animation is there which is the landscape little "Android" text with black background.
anybody knows which one of those ROMs removed it & how to restore it back?

Definitely a kernel thing. Flash genocide and see if you can see rodderiks version. it says genocide brought to you by devphone.org. badass kernel btw.
cd's or tapes?

You can pull the param.ifs out of the stock ROM and flash it with Heimdall.

okay I have the same issue and dont use heimdall well at least i never have but i can do some pretty things with a lil feedback! thanks!

[Q] Getting an Error on Bonsai v4 Rom

Hi, I flashed the latest Bonsai v4 rom on my Epic. It worked fine till today. Now, when I restarted, The boot up screens with Bonsai logo comes coming and I am not able to go into the launcher scree. It keeps showing the Bonsai 4 all logo and the other boot up screen? Have I bricked my Epic? Any remedies?

Official support for Bonsai is in my signature, but it sounds like you may need to reflash.

[Q] Is this normal with genocide kernal?

So I installed the genocide kernal and when it boots up I get an ice type of thing come up saying genocide and then the ACS logo [because I'm running SRF 1.2].
Is this normal because when I was watching qbkings video, after his boot up his logo was a green idp and then the acs logo appeared

its normal, its a splash screen that comes with the genocide kernel...its not an error...qbking was most likely on a different kernel...only genocide has this (i think??)...its a bit annoying but i love the kernel...plus the new srf doesnt come with a kernel...it keeps whatever kernel you had before you flashed the rom
Yup, he was on a different kernal, he was on genocide 1.1 IAP...I just found out the answer to my own question.
So yeah with genocide 1.1 FINAL the splash screen was introduced so it is normal.
thank you for your input as with you telling me about the splash screen I was able to somehow find my answer

Fashed New Caulkins 2.0, and now phone won't boot

So, I flashed Caulks new EK02 Rom, and, when I went to restart, phone is stuck on boot screen; Wiped everything as normal before flashing, but stuck on the yellow triangle screen.
I tried all the normal stuff to get into recovery, but phone won't go past the initial boot screen.
I have a mac computer, and thats all there are in the house, so I can't use Odin..
Can someone help me get the phone back to a state where it starts up?
Thanks so much for your help!
Use heimdall.
Sent from the future.
did that, flashed to stock, and we are back in business!
I did think about the hammer though...
MOD, please close!

[Q] Boot Animation Trouble [4.0.2 Stock/James Bond 1.35Ghz Kernel]

Hello,
I am having trouble switching boot animations. I have tried flashing the zips from recovery, from rom manager, renaming the desired boot animation bootanimation.zip in both of the common places (Data/local & system/media), and all of those methods resulted in a blank (black) boot screen. From the blank boot screen I've not even been able to get back to the stock one. I finally got one to work using jrummy's ROM Toolbox (free), but it is incredibly reluctant to even change to another animation from said toolbox. This would not be such an issue if these animations were properly formatted for the GNex.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

help: can't boot, stuck on green htc logo

Hi All,
Got a problem with my HOX. Rooted, and was running Franco kernel and PKMN ROM. Had a few issues so flashed back to stock kernel, wiped and reinstalled ROM.
Now I've got a problem; boots up, get a sense lock screen, then when I unlock I just get a white screen with HTC logo on that doesn't go away.
Help!
I've reflashed stock boot.img in fastboot, I've done a fastboot erase cache and still have same issue.
EDIT:
Well, got it to boot. Going thru setup now and it's INCREDIBLY SLOW. It's like it's underclocked to 100mhz or something. It's completely unusable - hitting "Next" in the Android setup menu takes 30 secs to process etc... This is kind of what was starting to happen before I wiped and reflashed - could it be I have corrupt storage or something?

Did you remember to install kernel modules AFTER you installed your ROM? Roms come with their own kernels and the kernel modules are already installed under /system/lib. So unless you flash the kernel modules after the ROM, ROMs kernel modules get installed instead.
Yes, I did. Got it working now though - not sure what it was but mounted USB storage and got windows to scan the storage - then re-downloaded the ROM and flashed again. Weird....!
