Whenever I enabled my Exchange work email account, the phone forces me to set a password which drives me nuts, because I have to then set the screen timeout to at least 2 minutes so I don't go mad typing in the password every time I reach for the phone. I found a lock delay app which works great, but only after I disabled Exchange, so the screen times out after a minute but only locks out after about 10 minutes - MUCH better.
I just can't use this with Exchange as the 'security policy' over-rides everything and drops me back to password lock out with screen time out.
Any thoughts?
Lock Picker
Search Android Market for an app called Lock Picker by Jeroen Brosens. That should solve your problem.
And the Exchange Security Policy won't override this?

As far as I know, no. Lock Picker runs as a service which completely disables the policy. I.e. the phone will be locked no more. Works like a charm on my Desire. However, if you at some point have the need to remove and re-add the account remember to disable the service while doing so.
I found a few applications but no app by the name of 'lock picker' - I Lock Delay is great though as it sets a lock out different to the screen timeout.
Ideally one would be able to delay the lock past screen time out, I don't mind using a password (prefer in fact) but it's annoying to have to re-enter a password every two minutes, otherwise the screen is left on if I set the timeout for longer.
You could try this :
If your company is enforcing exchange security policy regarding password , but you want to use the lock pattern (Gesture) instead then you can do the following:
1. Delete your exchange Setup on the phone.
2. Go into Security and setup a lock pattern.
3. Once that is done and tested readd your exchange account.
4. Download the app called LockPicker from Market place.
5. Go into the program and enable the Override.
6. Enjoy the new way of unlocking your phone.

i also had this problem... when i setup my company mail account that the phone forced me to enter a password ...
so i just installed LockPicker and it worked ... no password entry screen anymore
great app !

Had the same problem too.
I made a new unlock pattern first, added my exchange account, installed LockPicker and then uninstalled it, works like a charm
Ok so I've installed lockpicker and removed the forced password. If I remove this app now, I can go back to before with the Lock Delay app? Can I also run custom lock screens on top too that display info on the lock screen?
The ideal set up is delayed password protection, say 20 minutes, with screen time out to 2 minutes.
"password unlock" window after unlocking?? screenshot, plz help me remove this
Hi guys,
I have a funny problem, I've installed lockbot and some other lock-apps as test but removed all of them except lockbot
Now when I disable lockbot I have my normal lockscreen (power button + wipe down to unlock) but now I get an extra screen where I have to enter an unlock code (which seems to be my pin code) or emergency call
I can't find back in the settings how to disable this, anybody any idea?
PS I have stock ROM with launcherpro installed
Thx

Remove it and install No Lock. Or SwitchPro Widget.
well I love lockbot except that it unlocks when receiving a call so I just want to return to my default way of unlocking (power-button + slide-down) without having to enter my pin code again
this is how it looks like, I have no idea where this is coming from
anybody any ideas what this might be?
Anyone please? I would really like to get rid of this....

Are you syncing with an Exchange server?
I've had that dialogue box when I set up my Exchange mail.
Look here (translated from Swedish)
Settings -> Security -> Set screen lock
or something similar.

yep, I use Touchdown... however I used this on my HTC Magic as well and I never had the issue on that phone. I also have a seperate window for a pincode in Touchdown itself. Also when I disable the lock completely using switchpro I don't get this message anymore. If this is coming from exchange, I should probably still get the mentionned window... anyway I can try to uninstall just to test.

don't have that... I can only
- set a pattern-lock (which doesn't work, I just get the window mentionned, when I enter my code it goes straight to my homescreen)
- enable/disable PIN code (when disabled I still get the mentionned window)
- enable visible passwords
- install certificates from sd-card
just uninstalled touchdown... no change, lockscreen remains...
anyone?

The lock is requested by the security settings within Exchange. I would suggest removing you mail account from the phone to check, unless you have access to the Exchange server or a friendly Exhcange Admin.
I've uninstalled touchdown completely but lock screen remained..

Have you tried to disable the other lock options? Go through them one by one and enable and disable them. Maybe reboot first/after.

in security settings I only have

- enable/disable PIN code (when disabled I still get the mentionned window)
furthermore I've uninstalled all lock-screen apps and touchdown (exchange) but that cr*ppy screen remains active
coming close to giving it up though think I'll just stick to lockbot or widgetlocker and buying a decent pouch
ehm... something I just found by accident: it doesn't matter what I enter in that lock window, it always unlocks (except when leaving blanc) !!
try this
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/lockpicker-now-updated-to-v0-94/
Hi,
tried that already (forgot to mention it)
never mind guys, Widgetlocker seems to be what I'm looking in a lockscreen and it seems stable so I'll stick to that
thanks for all the tips and hints... sometimes it's just not ment to be
cheers

Hi!
I have a corporate app installed on my desire, which requires a screen lock with password to be enabled, and i can't seem to find a workaround, so the password stays
The only thing i can think of is to increase the timeout, until the phone gets locked, and i need to insert the password.
And here comes the problem. In my previous ROM, the maximum timeout was 15 minutes, and in my current ROM, there is no such option, to set a timeout, the phone locks right wenn i turn off the screen.(and i can unlock it only with the password...)
So here's the question: how can i set this timeout to more than 15 minutes. Where is this setting stored ?
I already googled, and found nothing. I was digging with sqlite3 in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db, but i can't find this. Maybe it is more hardcoded ?
Please help me! This thing is killing me!!!
Well if your device is payed and given to you by your employer he has the right to put some restricting software on it (although I've never heard of such an android).
And what is this corporate app? Is it developed by your company, if it's strictly for use within the company, then no other one, besides the people in the company would know whether it has a function for more than 15 min timeout.
If you have permissions to install apps see if "No Lock" from the market works.

It is my own phone, the software is developed by my company. It installs a policy, that requires a phone lock password to be set. In the system... This lock can have a timeout, but maximum 15 minutes. I'd like to change this to 2hours or even a day. But there is no such option in the GUI, this is why I want to find where this setting is stored in the system.
I think you may have configured your Microsoft Exchange email on your phone. If you do that then the IT admins have the right to enforce a lock screen after 15 minutes. I have the same problem. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it, except look for a software that can over-ride the lock-screen.
There used to be a software called LockPicker. But I heard it does not work with Froyo anymore. So my suggestion is that either learn to live with it, or look for an overriding software

Yes, I found this thread also, and that setting is stored in that database I mentioned in the first post. The problem is, in my case it is not exchange. It is a different story.
There must be a solution for this. I mean if there is a setting in the GUI, then it must be stored somewhere! And it must be possible to change it...
It sound like they use a crypto-software or ssl certificate, if you bypass it or try to bypass it.
Your phone can be locked or not fully functional, and your it admins will be angry
I think there is a little misunderstanding here. Let me rephrase my question!
Does anyone know how to set the "lock phone after" time in the security settings menu of the phone to a value higher than 15 minutes?
If you don't see that option, then you are using a sense-less rom. I found it only in roms using sense.
It is a system setting, not an application password. I will try to create screenshots today, so you can see what I mean
I'm having a really bizarre problem where, even when Developer Options are toggled to On, the Stay Awake option is disabled.
Yesterday, I re-flashed the JB 4.1 rom (Team Vicious v1), and this fixed it, but this morning it became permanently disabled again.
My question is: where in the file system can I find where this flag is toggled? I'm thinking I can go and edit something like a build.props file to enable it manually. Anyone know what file controls Developer Option settings?
EDIT: Found a solution by installing the "Stay Awake" widget from the Play store. Even though the option is still disabled under Settings, I can see that it is checked now when I enable it through the widget.
EIDT2: Even though the widget checked the option, it does not work.
EDIT3: I've finally figured out the root cause of the problem - this is a new "security feature" with exchange accounts in JB. As soon as you accept the security protocol when creating an exchange account, Stay Awake becomes permanently disabled. I've heard mixed feedback on the email apk hack successfully working. So far there does not appear to be a workaround.

mordrukk,
First of all thank you a million for editing your OP and updating as you learned more, huge help! I'm definitely interested if you find more about this. I recently switched from using Touchdown on my device to corporate email and had my "stay awake" option disabled. It's extremely frustrating to be driving listening to music or whatnot and have the screen shut off on me.
I'm having a hard time finding info on the supposed email.apk hack to fix this. Any chance you can share what you know?
EDIT: Dug up the thread myself. I'm having mixed results. It does sync my account without requiring additional lockdown (past installing a client cert and requiring a pattern lock). I can confirm allow wake works now! However, since applying the patch I've had Exchange Services (Exchange2.apk) crash on me several times. This happened most frequently after first syncing the account. I'll re-update after a day or so of use.
The patch was a piece of cake to install (on a Mac). Just requires a bit of adb use.

I got the same problem after installing notes traveller ! One workaround it to install 'screen on ' from pinapps and set it to stay on when charging. It works.

I used this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749921 . Works.
Hi,
I'm trying to bypass the required pin/security code that my company's microsoft exchange email requires on a stock rom.
I installed the exchangen-no-pin hacked app that everyone uses on an AOSP rom, no problems.
But since I have decided that AOSP roms leave me with at least 1/3 less battery life than stock, I want to go back to stock. But I can't seem to get around the pin/security code policy b/c the hacked email apk doesn't work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Is google not working for you? A search with the keywords "exchange bypass" gives this as first result: http://repo.xposed.info/module/org.flacid.exchangebypass

Bypassing corporate security policies sounds like a good idea.
Use an email client such as Nine. That will allow you to satisfy the exchange server with an email app pin lock and wipe, instead of a device level admin lock and wipe.
Sent from my SGP512 using Tapatalk
Mailwise is another (free) email client that allows bypass exchange security if you enter a code you have to fetch from their website one time.
Although Nine is probably a better alternative because it does have the app level pin & wipe function rather than completely bypassing exchange security.
I can recommend NINE, it works great and their support is also pretty good, I received a reply almost instantly when I reported a minor bug and it was fixed within a day.
on stock, i don't think so. it is governed by the administrators of your email account. is it an exchange account?
