The Gingerbread update has been excellent with my HTC Incredible 2. Scrolling is smoother (i daresay iPhone-like), performance is better (example: 43Mflops in Linpack), and Sense is a little more refined...
But there is one major omission. Where and how do you get the awesome CRT style lock animation that comes with stock Gingerbread?
At the very least HTC should have a Gingerbread skin that includes this and all the other gingerbread looks.
Sadly I know exactly what you mean. Where the heck did this go?
Is that CRT thing a stock gingerbread thing or something that Motorola does...the only phone I've see that on is the Droid 3...but it's also the only other phone I've seen with gingerbread on it besides my Inc2.

The Nexus S 4G has it too
It is aosp gingerbread that had it from the start. Any phone running gingerbread with out the animation has had it removed by the company that developed the software on your specific phone... Thanks htc.... Lol jk, would love that crt animation but not a deal breaker

It can be added back in/enabled, but someone with the skillz would have to do it.
This is really lame on HTC's part then. I have no problems with Sense 2.1, but at the best least, they have this awesome Skin engine built into Sense, so they should have a "Pure Gingerbread" Skin that includes the CRT-style lock animation.
Here is to hoping they unlock the boot loader for the Dinc S/2 like they promised on the Sensation so we can eventually run CM8 or whatever's next.
I did it on my fascinate running stock ec09 gingerbread. I followed this guide and was super easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977501
I would venture to guess it is near the same to enable on the incredible 2.
I should be getting my replacement in the mail shortly for the fascinate... even with 2.3 i was still missing calls.
edit: i just used root explorer to put the framework-res.apk in my system folder so i could change the permissions. After that i moved it to the framework folder and replaced the existing file. reboot and all was well.
I've seen issues where people go into a boot loop and i believe that it has to do with not setting the permissions correctly but i could be wrong.

Looking for a wakeup animation and sleep animation like the stock cm7 rc2 rom. Would like to have that on any rom. Ive been looking and cant find anything. Is it considered a lock screen animation?
Its called Screen On/Off animation and it was introduced when Gingerbread came out. I don't think any other ROM but CM7 has it, but I could be wrong.
Would it be possible to extract that from the cm7 rom? Im new to the sdk so I dont really know what can and cannot be done.
I've read somewhere that it can't be done because of the framework differences between froyo and gingerbread.
I may be wrong, but that is what I read.
Good luck.

it can be done, but by that time, evo should have stock ggb anyways. it is really hard to do, and would require some advanced java, that would ultimately lead to.... a split second screen animation :-| not that exiting for all that work....

Makes sence. Im just kind of a mod freak.... unlike most people here. Im willing to flash whatever just to learn how it works and how it dose not work. Just about everything that seems non recoverable i have somehow been able to come back from weather it be the modding of my xbox to my Evo. Im just looking for some knolage. Im trying to learn the sdk so I can be more of a contributing part of this forum.
Is there ANY vanilla lock screen.apk's out there that are just the .apk NOT an entire ROM, and ones that WORK, not ones that are "half ass" done? I realize developing anything can be difficult, I just want to find one that works correctly. The search filter on the site is junk you type in Vanilla lock screen, or any thing lock screen .apk and it just brings up every ROM that has a vanilla lock screen in it, can anyone help solve this "puzzle". I really like the one from Warm 2.2 BUT its jacked up/ wasnt properly developed and is just pointless to use unless youre using it with that ROM.

Warm twopointtwo is not a vanilla rom, so it would not be a vanilla lockscreen. What rom are you using currently?

I hear you can just delete the sense lockscreen and it'll use the vanilla one. But, I believe I also heard that screws up your alarm. Not sure where the sense lockscreen apk is though.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5.3.
I think the htclockscreen.apk is in system/apps. If you rename it with .bak at the end you will have the vanilla lock screen. Not sure what you mean by half assed though? What do you think is wrong with the one from Warm?

well its "thinned" out, it sometimes double screens, as in you go to weather or alarm, and a blank screen will quickly slide up showing a half assed weather/ alarm screen, the lock itself is perfect, but what ever else he put in that apk file was terrible, i hate to *****/ trash on a dev since he has done really well, but i think it needed more work before releasing. as far as the apk file yea i knew you could change it to a .bak, only problem is, when i go into the root file explorer and locate the file to rename it, the second i try to rename it, it says "insufficient permissions" and i have no idea how to fix it, in this case google nore the forum was my friend lol any ideas?
ok fixed it, figured it out, and was able to change it, next step learning how to create apps LOL.
Is anyone working on proting over touchwiz 4.0? I saw that it has already been ported over to the galaxy s I9000.
We'll wait til our gingerbread has a first release. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll come with 4.0. (doubt it)

You can easily try it, all anyone would be doing is taking that and dropping it on here.

Wouldn't work either way since the framework in the Touchwiz 4.0 MOD is removing alot of the basics of the Epic causing boot loops or frozen samsung start ups. For example the basic 4G layout. If you want to make it work you have to manually edit it so it can atleast work with leaky gingerbread. To be honest its not worth it that much since 1) leaky gingerbread might not even be compatible even if its edited, 2) most gestures and features are not included in the mod, 3) it better to save the work time for nexus 4g and porting that or the epic2 framework. Or if you got the coding skills and patience make your own launcher, launchers like launcher 7(status bar and tile layout), Spb Shell(3D interface), and Regina(with nice animations) show that you can pull off UIs similar Touchwiz 4.0 or Honeycomb but it requires time.
Is it possible to switch out the lock screen? There is a post in the dev thread where someone has offered up a replacement but says it only replaces the 'vanilla' and not sense. If you run this ROM you have sense, right? If someone could point me in the direction where I might be able to learn more about how this may/not be possible that would be great.
Widgetlocker?
I could be wrong but I think there might be a sense lockscreen apk in data/app or system/app. I'm thinking if you delete or rename that, you'll have the "vanilla" sliding tabs.
Note: This information may be entirely incorrect.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
FYI
NOTE: If you do rename the WarmZ 2.2 lock screen file ---> /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
as mentioned by k_nivesout, you will then have the vanilla lock screen.
With the vanilla lock screen, you are going to need the vanilla clock app.
The htc sense clock app and vanilla lock screen does not play well together. You will get an alarm that goes off, and you cannot stop it until you restart your phone.
Thanks for the help. I have progressed in my quest. I have found that the lock screen I have been trying to get installed, posted by gomorrah, uses update-script that isn't compatible with CWM3 (ammend vs edify). Trying with another recovery I am now at the point of not having Launcher2 so I'm chasing that piece now.

Could you post a link to said lock screen? Is there more than one, or just a single lock screen?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11897693&postcount=2454
if if wont flash on CWM 3 use this. just flash it first then do whatever you want after.
Thanks. I was thinking down those lines. The package installed, at least as far as CWM was concerned, without error. Problem is that nothing changed.
is there anyway to get the lock screen (+weather animations) from synergy rom on warm z 2.2? that's my favorite part of the synergy rom (easily amused i guess) but otherwise like warm z better...been searching forum for some time looking
thx for any info
No, I don't think the sense 3.0 lockscreen will work on a non gingerbread rom. I believe incubus is working on a warm 2.3 rom, and there is already a warm skin for synergy.
thanks
will any skins for synergy rom from other phones work? i'm not finding one for the incredible (forgive me if i looked right at it & didn't see it) i found skins for the evo synergry....
I've used Froyo on my old phone because it never got Gingerbread, my Play has 2.3.3 and I just realized that it doesn't do that cool CRT screen-off animation. As a matter of fact, it also didn't come with Sony's Xperia launcher, I know that you can download it from here, but it has a lot of bugs. Is that all on the 2.3.4 update that (hopefully) will be available on the Verizon Play? Did I miss something, or did the Xperia Play never come with what I was expecting from an Xperia phone?
Verizon ripped us off, we just have stock android. But you can download the Sony Ericsson launcher and other things from here.
Note: Some items require root. Not all.
...Why Verizon...? Okay, I guess that'll do, I also have root. Thanks.
EDIT: I thought the CRT Screen-off effect was integrated into the Gingerbread firmware, I wonder why it won't happen on the play, it has to be in the source somewhere if that's true. I have all animations set to on.

The CRT animation is supposed to be built into Gingerbread. They must have removed it somehow. Though, from 2.3.4 SonyEricsson has replaced the CRT animation with one of their own. The display kind of quickly fades out into black from corners to middle. Soft and sweet looking in my opinion. I have grown very tired of the CRT animation as of late so I was glad that SE had made something of their own.
Heh, I accidently thanked you for your post when quoting.

I find this very funny, Everyone complains about skins and crap on their android phone, look at motoblur, sense, touchwiz. Everyone wants pure vanilla android.
They give you pure vanilla android, you complain, you want the oem launcher.
This is pathetic and stupid.

Ya, and so are people who don't help the cause.
Anyway, is there a way we could get the cool animation?

There is a tutorial on it in the arc section, the animation is there, it has just been disabled in one of tge .xml files.

I found that and just tried it, it went great until every emulator went into a force close when I tried to change their settings, I also couldn't sync my google account, so I had to go back to my unmodified framework-res.apk.
I wonder if there's a way to replace the sony screen off animation with the crt version. I prefer the crt. I'd also be interested in the possibility of people creating custom screen on/off animations, since Sony was able to do it
