[Q] Install An Official Update

I have rooted phone HTC Disare and when come out official update 2.3 , can i update it , i now lost my root but phone be working correctly ?
You mentioned you lost your root?
might be a safe bet to install the RUU if you want the official and are rooted...?
or install a custom rom version of it
I know that I'd lose my root when I install official update 2.3 but phone be working correctly any brick ?
I guess there's always a chance.
if you want to install an official rom on top of a rooted/custom rom then I'd guess RUU is the safest way

[Q]noob question before upgrade to CM7

Before i start to flash CM7 ROM ... i had a question which i could find a concrete answer in other threads or the FAQs :
I'm on Defy US t-mobile 2.2.1 Froyo,
Can I get back to this for warranty by just flashing using the original SBF??
Or do i have root first and take a nandroid backup??
please adivce.
I come from original US Tmobile firmware also. There is no sbf for the official 34.4.9 system as it was an OTA update! HOWEVER you CAN EASILY flash back to 2.1 eclair system 3.6.360 using sbf and simply do the OTA update. Don't worry about a thing they all have (even official US Tmobile eclair) cg version=4. So there are no issues down-grading. Just don't flash the newest leaked Gingerbread 2.3.4 as it has a cg version=5 and can't be down-graded. So the CONCRETE ANSWER IS YES YOU CAN DOWNGRADE FROM CM7 BACK TO OFFICIAL 3.6.360(2.1.1) USING SBF AND THEN APPLY THE OTA UPDATE FOR 34.4.9(2.2.1)

Help! Need to install latest Telus firmware

I need everything to stay in stock form. I downgraded back to 1.32 RUU and now when I tried to get the OTA update to Android 2.3, it is saying that I need to have 1.84.661.1 Release Key for it to recognize my phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I need to take the phone back in due to my speaker apparently blowing.
I downloaded the OTA update but I now need to know how I could install this. I suppose I can't just use CWM or the stock recovery to install it.
Any help at all would be appreciated.
please delete thread.

HTC EVO is still running 2.2 rooted need to update??

My HTC EVO is still running 2.2 Baseband ver. 2.15.00.11.19. It's rooted with CM. I've avoided updating to the latest version of Android because I didn't want to lose root. However I think it's time to update. I'm concerned that once I update I can't put the genie back in the bottle. Would someone be kind enough to walk me through the process so I can update to the latest "rootable" version of Android and how to "reroot" (if needed) after the update?
just install the latest update . 2.3.5 then click link below in my sig to root
no problem
Just go get the update as a custom rom and load it. You can also find the updated radios out there and flash them too.
