Virus kingdom :) - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Virus is the best bad ass dev on the Kingdom port .What you folks think about kingdom? the man is the best damn dev for kingdom got my ass hooked on kingdom which lead me over to the EVO 3D best rom ever was kingdom .
What you folks think ?

It was a fun rom to use. But too much battery loss and lag and I just hate sense. Back to decks which is, in my opinion, da best.

Lmao each to his own tho all decks is cm 7 nothin really new with it . Cyanogen never seemed to be the best good battery life but thats only good thing about it.
Virus work is nice when it comes to ports battery was great for me and many users no lag.

I get what you mean. But nothing can beat the battery of decks with sz and vipermod under volting. Sense is a battery hog. And decks isn't just cm7. Its based off it. Just like most sense roms are based off of htc's base

Sense isn't bad if you calibrated ur battery right lol I love the features compared to non sense . Eye candy is good.
Cm7 is alright missing good features built from scratch which is a plus great battery life by its self. I don't **** with over clocking or under volting don't wanna spank my phone other then that cm7 is alright but nothin compared to sense kingdom 3.0 .
This is all about the kingdom ROM and the eye candy. Decks was nothin new for cm7 to me dicked with it nothin new to a stock cm7 stock kernel .
Kingdom is a bad ass port that virus set up pretty sweet fast smooth sexy lol. Loved the camera and the new sense looks grand.
His work is always bad ass.
Not doggin cm7 its a non sense rom totally different from kingdom since its a whole new sense. Kingdom was just so damn good lookin with loads of potential.
Cm7 is built from ground up good just the way it is. I just prefer sense sometimes a non sense rom is pretty sweet if well done and smooth with no issues.

I'm the complete opposite :O haha but I do agree, sense is beautiful
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

I'm liked 6/23 the best

This should really be in the general discussion since it's a discussion and not a real question.
But in the spirit of fun:
Synergy and Mikg are the best 2.1/3.0 roms out there. Made by aamikam and (partially) by Myn and Virus respectively.
MikFroyo and Warm TwoPointTwo were the best Froyo roms out there. Most of us were, at one point, Mikheads or Mynions (or Mynjas, if you prefer).
CM7 is the most popular gingerbread rom period. I read somewhere that his roms have over 2 million downloads every time a stable is released.
Virus is a badass dev, a top 5 for sure, but in a game where sheer download numbers and thread views rule the forums: aamikam, Myn and Cyanogen are the best devs.
Sorry dude, opinions can be wrong, but math is never wrong (if you do it right).

I ran virus' kingdom port up to version 1.2.2 I think and I liked it alot. Then I tried sacs kingdom rom and have stuck with that ever since. It was based off of one of virus' early alpha versions and it runs really smooth. This may not be the best reason to change roms but the thread for virus' kingdom just got completely ridiculous and reading it became almost a complete waste of time (which was not virus' fault at all).

I would totally love this Rom and any other sense 3.0 roms but I can't seem to get the SD partitioning bit right so that I actually have room for apps and such. But what I have used of the virus kingdom, I loved lol

Virus is no doubt a complete badass developer, but his style of open nightlies and hard-to-find guaranteed stable ROMs makes life difficult. I love flashing ROMs as much as the next guy, but I have to have a stable daily driver. That's why I use Myn's RCs (up to RC2 now) because I know that everything will always work.
So, Virus = way fun, mind blowing stuff, sometimes a hassle to get working.
Myn = rock solid, not as many bells and whistles (though, since it's Synergy, there clearly are a few of 'em!).
If there's a new stable release of Kingdom, let me know - I'll definitely give it a try.

Virus Rom are really good, but I thing he gets crazy developing full of ideas, I'm on 6/23 it works very good and stable, also I'm running it on the latest PRI and RADIOS, HE SHOULD finish he's projects, my battery life is fenomenal.

[Q] [SENSE ROM] What is your choice and why?

Just like the title says, what is your favorite/most used/fastest/best on battery SENSE ROM. I'm currently running CyanogenMod 7 Nightly # (insert number here) and have been running CM for a long time. I almost forget how stock sense looks like
Now I know most people will say "you got to just try them out and see what you like", but honestly there are LOTS of choices and doing the nandroid and restoring of apps and all that is annoying. I want the most complete package based on your experiences. Just naming off a ROM name doesn't help. Providing reasons would be great.
I WANTED to go with :
Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471)
OR
MikFroyo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883026)
OR maybe
MikZ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982211)
I believe MikFroyo is as stock as it gets with the original Sense while Warm TwoPointTwo and MikZ have the new Sense baked in. But MikZ has some features not working such as 4G and HDMI?
Somebody help me out! lol thanks in advance
I love mikfroyo v4.5 it just purly awesome. Personaly I love the speed probably the fastest sense rom I have used and I used alot including myns. And also the best battery I have used. So mik. All the way and also mikz. And its also very good
-{KiD}-
I'm using Myn's Warm Z right now and I absolutely love it. Speed, from what I can tell so far: good battery life, very fluid and very graphically gorgeous.
tried them all myself and i keep going back to Miks ! the speed of the rom is wicked and the dev is in for the long haul !
waiting on 4.6

Maybe I'll move it to my SD and flash it during class tomorrow to check it out.
Mik's is about the only Sense ROM I haven't used.
For best all around, King's Ultra. Fast, decent battery life, visually amazing.
Koni's is right with it, but the battery life was terrible. Still, a visual masterpiece.
Vaelpak has the most options and is very very customizable. It''s prett yfast, battery is pretty good, with the right kernel, and I would have stayed wit hit, but I ran RUU on my phone and just wanted to try something new.
Myn's WarmZ is pretty perfect. Doesn't have th CM-like customizations of VaelPak, but it's gorgeous, stable, fast. Everthing works, and battery os ok.
11 hrs off the charger last night, with not a whole lot of use, other than a lot of texting, and I went to bed with it at 79%.
Maybe I'll give Mik's a try, just so I can say I tried everything on the menu.
I like mikfroyo 4.5 fast, great battery life everything works. But I think you need to try them all for yourself and decide. What someone else likes you may not. And besides it's fun to flash and try new stuff, just try to stop, you'll see once you start it' s like lays potato chips.
mikfroyo... hands down the fastest rom ive ever used.
I'm in the same boat except I've been on MIUI since last fall. I downloaded Koni Elite with Mikfroyo 4.5 to try. I've used Vaelpak way back and liked it. Vaelek had since added.lots of features. My favorite is no longer being updated - I hate it when that happens but with all the new phones and OS, it's not surprising.
Evo HW 003
MIUI 1.3.5 with stock kernel
Honeycomb theme
Calks Evio roms are hands down the best I have used....and I have tried them all. Lightly visually modded and very fast and extremely stable.

+1 on Calk's EViO. Have tried most sense roms, but no roms can complete with the stability of EViO, battery life with undervolt, and mature (light) theme. The best one for my taste and performance needs.

That is with the new Sense (2.0?) that isnt available to stock EVO yet, correct? Is everything working on that ROM like 4G and HDMI? Nothing buggy? What is the base RUU that was used for that ROM? I hope it always starts with a EVO RUU and gets other **** baked in.
BTW for all the posters, I flashed MikFroYo last night and it is FAST. I want to try other stuff out tho. Give me more info!!!! Loving the responses so far.
Another vote for Calk's EViO 1.8. Smooooth as can be, fast and super stable. This is pretty much the only sense ROM I run on the very, very rare occasion that I am not on MIUI.
Calk's EViO 1.8 vs MikFroYo vs WarmTwoPointTwo
BATTLE ROYAL COMPARISON....lol
These three seem to be the top three that people have recommended (damn i shoulda done a vote)....but can people give me some comparisons. I come from CM7 nightlies so I am used to ****ty battery life. I currently have MikFroYo flashed and see it is fast. EViO is better on battery maybe? WarmTwoPointTwo has newer Sense?
After flashing and dozen or so, I finally stuck with elite series II.
I just can't pick one over the other, tbh...
Now I'm on King's Ultra II and by Friday, I'll probably had changed again.....
Calk's EViO 1.8. I've never ran Myn's Rom but I tried MikFroyo. They are both pretty snappy but I got better battery out of Calk's.

If you add Koni's to that threesome, I think you have four excellent sense ROMs to try. You might also check out this thread. It is a few weeks old now, but probably still relevant (if you buy into poll results.) If nothing else, you can cruise the posts and get some more info/ideas. And this one is a little more recent, but I think by that point people were over polls like this so not nearly as many responses.

What could I do to speed up my Inc.

Hey I was wanting to knw what could I do to speed up my Inc. I am currently running redemption 2.3 with overclocked kernel. It overclocked to 1.113. Or if someone has any other suggestions of roms and kernels it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

try re engineered z rom, its smokin fast with no oc
Ok I will. Does re–engineered z roms have custom mods u can add on to it. I am big in moding the title bar and the over all look of everything. Lol.
Dinc
Oh which version to get for the re engineered roms.
Dinc
Reengineered, ziggys latest w/ cfs and havs, adw launcher, desensed. Enough said!
I didn't like Incredibly Re-engineered Z. It was bloated with crap I didn't want and was stupid-quirky about swapping kernels. Straight Incredibly Re-engineered version 2.3.1 is my preference. It's not *****y about kernels, has an unthrottling mod, has a bunch on themes that won't break the optimizations, all kinds of other appearance mods both flashable and metamorph. I've got that version, running the cyan 4x5 theme, unthrottled, with Ziggy's 031811 beta kernel oc'd to 1153MHz. Runs like a raped ape. Totally love it.

Incredibly Re-Engineered is a great Rom, but the no MMS over wifi was a killer for me. Magnolia is 100% DInc framework, so there are no EVO/Z port quirks and is very peppy, drop a Ziggy or HIL kernel and your good to go. There isn't a whole lot of theming, but there is some, and both the themer and dev are very responsive and helpful when it comes to one-off modding

Ive had none of those issues with z, but the regular re eng is to slow and has just as much bloat.

Run Cyanogen 7 with a stock kernel (overclock if you want but it does not do much) and you will notice the difference. From what I have seen, most of the Z-Roms are slow and full of bugs.
Cyanogen also scored quite a bit higher on Quadrant and Smartbench benchmarks.
I agree CM7(gingerbread) will improve your overall speed of the phone.
CM7 did some work for my phone. I recommend it.

If you want to keep the Sense UI - some prefer it, myself included, I'm a "bells and whistles" guy, try SkyRaider 3.5, it will not disappoint you, is smooth as butter fast, and has not once given me any ****. I am going to flash CM7 tonight to see whats new with it and how it runs but historically (IMO!) it is a tad too plain Jane for me.
I was a "Sense" guy till I went to CM7, now I've been converted. Almost every widget Sense brings to the table there is a similar and as polished replacement. So far I haven't found a single thing that I miss from Sense with my current CM7 setup. I actually went back to Z ROM a couple days ago because I thought I missed sense then I realized how much faster CM7 really was. I might go back to Sense once there is a stable GingerSense available if there is a performance increase but till them I'm all about CM7, its also worth noting that my battery life is nearly double with CM7 compared to other Sense ROMs I've ran using a the same sync profiles on each of them.
Honestly, I'm going to recommend Warm 2.2. I'm running it with the Ziggy 12/19/10 that is included, UNDERclocked to 806MHz. It's still smooth as silk and lasts forever on battery.
I'm using Inc. Rom 1.5 Beta 2, and it is smoking fast (and has Sense)
Generally Sense is additional overhead, so any ROM that doesn't use it, has the potential to be fast.
I run Redemption 2.4 with the last Sense Incredikernel. So far im impressed with the smartass scaling and Ive underclocked to 883mhz (although i have the option to overclock for more speed) and ive noticed no slowdown. Not to mention Redemption is the most rock solid rom ive used so far. Im not a big theme-ing guy, im more about optimization, so maybe another RR fan can speak on that.

Please Help Me Pick A Rom. PLEASE

I have a 003 Evo and have tried multiple roms in this order: Stock rooted, OMJ, Fresh, CM6, Destroyer which had the best battery life.
I am tired of flashing roms and having to flash all these fixes and everything still doesn't work. With OMJ and Fresh everything worked but the battery life was nothing compared to Magnus' Destroyer rom. I really liked it for the battery life but I couldn't get the Satellite GPS to work and I had black on black text boxes. I like aosp roms like cm7 mainly because I can customize them more but also because they seem to get much better battery life. I usually use launcher pro in all the roms I've used also. I want a rom that has everything working that gets great battery life that is fast and one that I can use for a long time. I'm tired of spending so much time trying to get my phone to work and last all day. I've read a lot on the forums and please don't criticize me for asking for this help. I know many people have already asked this question. So all in all I guess I want and aosp maybe cm7 but i need everything to work I'd like to do hdmi mirroring and be able to do any other mods and really need it to last all day. I first rom I get a full day out of was Destroyer but it had some bugs. Can anyone help me, am I missing something? Please Please Please help me find a rom that suites my needs.
Thank you very much and if someone can help me get this going I will make a donation to them. I also live in Palm Beach FL if anyone near by wants to help.
Thank you very very much in advance.

Sense: Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS-5 -- Everything works. Downgrade the PRI from 1.90 to 1.77
AOSP: SalvageMod 1.2.1 w/Tiamat 4.0.2 kernel and LauncherPro.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
For Sense, I prefer Myn's RLS 5 or Calkulin's EViO 3, and also the MyTouch 4g port. Mostly, the MyTouch 4G because I don't care too much about Wimax.
For AOSP, I like either MIUI or Deck's ROM, with Tiamat 4.02. Battery lasts all day, 16 hours off the charger with moderate usage and I have at least 25% left.
Be sure to wipe battery stats and such between switching ROMs and kernels and such.
Try mine out...
Skyraider for evo 4g
Only thing that doesn't work is 4g because it was ported from the incredible which doesn't have 4g
Try out kings gb4 ultra beatdown or any kings gb with a tiamat kernel. 3.3.7 ws real nice for me. 18-24 hours on batery everything works. Fast smooth and reliable
Kings GB Destroyed EVO
try end of days with tiamat sbc kernel
first of all, all of the roms you tried are out of date.
quote form earlier post of mine:
ok, here goes.
first of all, yes this has been asked a thousand times per day, but people have fun answering them
sense roms are based off stock evo sprint software. if you like sense roms, you best choices will be:
myn's warm twopointtwo, for a smooth, themed, and slick stockish experiance, try this oldie but goodie.
mikfroyo, updated more often. optimized way over the top. i personally don't like the theme, and think if you want that speed go for aosp, but whatever. a bunch of people like it.
koni's elite. one of the newer good sense roms. good themeing. fast. optimized. everything else the other two have, just different...
aosp roms are based off stock google source code. they are not built for the evo (or until like 2 weeks ago, not built for sprint, cdma, or wimax) but have been ported exelently. these are much faster than sense, and about half the size. they have a different look, feel, and functionality though. they are based on gingerbread, not froyo like stock evo.
cm7 (cyanogenmod 7): simply the best. most other aosp roms based off of this. a gigantic project that spans across ~30 phones with ~24 official developers and many more unnoficially contributing to the open sourced code. fast, stable, WORKING 4G AND HDMI!!! (took monts to do those 2). everything works (except 720p video recording, but 480 is just as good). really, try this one first. nightlys are released every night, stables are not. you can see the very complicated changelog along with links here: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=supersonic
miui: based (sorta i think) off cm7. very iphone-like rom. built to have the best of iphone and android, with some added goodies. i persoanlly don't like it, but many swear by it. sorta a you like it or you don't thing. 4g doesn't work.
deck's: another cm7 based rom. basically slimmed down cm7. idk why you'd need to slim something already half the size of sense down further, but some people claim unreal battery life. 4g and hdmi also work cuz it's based on cm7
savagedzen rom: NOT built from cm7 (yes, this is a bragging right), very stock gingerbread, with lots of kernel tweaks. not based on cm7, yet 4g and hdmi work.
salvagemod: even more stock gingerbread. 4g works. not hdmi.
ports: the name explains it all. 4g doens't work for these, except the rare exceptions. virus is the one who's ripping out port after port after port recently.
a sense hd port: mik and myn both have one of these. froyo with sense 2.1. no 4g.
virus gingersense: sense 2.1, gingerbread. no 4g, but the rest is working.
virus kingdom port: based on an unreleased, unrevealed device called the htc kingdom. 4G WORKS. still in deep beta. sense 3.0, and gingerbread. sense 3.0 is pretty crazy.
so yeah. i personally use cm7 with tiamat 4.0.2 kernel and a modnation theme (whichever we r testing). try as many as u like. if you like it, make a backup.
btw there is a gps fix.

Bump to the top. Still need some suggestions and help from experts. I really like aosp roms can't see any reason to use anything else as long as all the phone functions work. I've.tried the latest cm7, EOD, and I'm currently on destroyer v2 which was giving me good battery life, about a full day of moderate to heavy use, buy am having problems I can't seen to fix even after searching everywhere. I still have black on black text boxes which sucks, my wirerless tether and usb tether doesn't work and I'm having a few other problems.
I would really like to talk to some people on the phone about my problems and questions if some one with lots of experience wouldn't mind doing that I would be happy to make a donation.

For ASOP , I Recommend Salvage Mod With Savaged-Zen 2.6.38.5 Kernel 2.1.0 CFS = googly eyes

best rom ?

just rooted my phone couple of days ago im running cm7 right now. which rom do guys think is the best ?
Not another one.... Nobody can tell you what the best rom is for you. Thats like asking people what car they think is the best. Everyone will have their own opinion, and their own wants and needs will make every decision different.
Try Misfit's Speedy ROM, its Gingerbread with Sense 2.1 and it's pretty stable. If you're not like me and got lucky with an Epson panel you can even change the brightness lol
thats why i ask sitlet for opinions . obviously your bein a douche. you didnt have to reply to my post .
Eternal Prophecy v 6.0 is the best Rom for battery life and nice themed too, but if u like themed Roms u know the graphics ones go for Kings Roms

Don't be so hard on sitlet. Everyone has their own preferences on what they want in a rom. You just have to try several out to see what you like.
Checkout gingerbread-evo-deck or CyanogenMod-7 if you like AOSP roms. If you prefer Sense roms checkout MiSfit's Speedy(RC1). The Speedy port is the newer Sense 2.1, which until the 3.0 roms are more stable I won't do without . All of those are pretty stable.
Try Myn's rom Its's smooth and fast x or Salvage , decks rom for good battery life.

Most AOSP roms are made from CM7 with a few changes to the look or apps included. I like CM7, but I've been stuck on MIUI for a while. If you can get past the childish insults about the iOS look, it's a great rom and doesn't have to look like the iPhone. There's a ton of great themes for it - if you decide to try it out, you can pm me and I'll point you toward some good themes or send you my own concoction.
If you're not big on Sense, but tired of AOSP, try Vaelpak. It's Sense, but with most of Sense removed, leaving only the good stuff. It's one of the few Sense roms I've tried and actually liked.

CM7 is the best hands down
Personally recommend CM7, though if you want different, go for MIUI, as it is the most noticeably different rom.
This epic reply brought to you by none other than my roxx'd out Evo.
I just rooted for the first time and have tried Evo Deck, CM7 and Synergy. Not a fan of Sense, and Evo Deck seems like a shaved down version of CM7 (haven't found any info on how they are truly different)....so Evo Deck for me. AOSP regardless.
Were you using Synergy+GodMode, or just Synergy? Curious - which ROM has had the smoothest UI in your experience? I do rather like Sense, but it seems pretty choppy at time, though I haven't played with much else.
It comes down to opinion. If you are a fan of sense you have good options. Though they are usually very heavy on ram and space.
If you have never tried AOSP, give it a whirl. The customization, speed and small size is unbeatable. There are apps galore that can replace stuff from sense that you may like.
And now for my soap box... SalvageMod is the best hands down. My phone had never run better. On top of that they have both sense and AOSP versions. If that's not enough, the genius devs have two different kernels to choose from, Freedom and Chop Suey, both for sense.
I have been an AOSP guy for a while, can't get away from it. Cm7 and decks are both excellent, but SalvageMod is strictly unparalleled, IMO.
I would switch to Salvage sense but there hasn't been enough development on it yet and can't match the features of AOSP.
PS, with all the talk about God mode around, SalvageMod AOSP runs smoother for me than synergy + God mode.
That's my rant

I used all of them over time. For AOSP, I think CM7 is where its at. They have everything working and wonderful battery life with custom kernels and such. MIUI is sweet, but no 4G. They do have sweet themes though.
As for Sense, I range Synergy and it was okay. I prefer the full sense 3.0 instead of the 2.x 3.0 merge. I used Kinged Kingdom for a while, and it was super smooth with the kernel set properly and V6 applied. I'm currently on the E3D Shooter port, by Kinged and GruesomeWolf and its running well too. Be sure you partition your SD card before hand and you won't have space issues. They have A2SD baked in, which will automatically move apps to your partitioned space on the SD card, leaving you plenty of internal space. Updates rather frequently too, which is something I enjoy.

I am using Kinged Shooter 3D and so far it is working great. No lag with 3D carousel which is really cool.
