I am trying to find a bluetooth app that will allow me to set a "default / always connect automatically" bluetooth device.
I am looking for this functionality:
- When the phone detects my car's bluetooth is in range, and it's not connected to anything else, it'll connect.
- If I turn on another bluetooth device such as my headset, it'll automatically disconnect from my car and connect to my headset
- When I turn off my headset, it'll automatically reconnect back to my car.
Currently my phone will not do this. I must manually connect/disconnect everything. Any ideas?
Takes some getting used to, but you should try an app called 'Tasker' It's kind of expensive but if you go to the devs website I think you can use it for free for like a week or so to see how it works out for ya
tasker is expensive but worth more than every cent. you can pretty much set it up ot automate anything

I have my Droid Incredible and my Mac computer paired but I have no idea how to connect them. Anyone know how to?
i need to know also...
is the mac in your list? you should just be able to click on it and it'll connect.
Im having this issue with a motorola car system
it will pair, but will not connect...
May be related to your issue ?
I hope someone can offer some suggestions

My computer is on the list but whenever i click on it, the only option is to unpair.
Try deleting and re-establishing a connection. I had to do this with my car system the second time I used it. It seems to work fine after that..
I'm having a somewhat related issue....
I can pair my BT headset, but each time I turn it off and back on I have to manually "Connect" it. It stays in my Devices list, but it will not automatically connect when it sees the headset. Instead I have to touch-hold the device and choose "Connect".
That's a pretty annoying extra step. With my Droid, all I had to do was turn on the headset and then the Droid would see it and connect automatically.

I am having this same problem. Anyone find a solution to this?
I had the same problem while importing contacts from my Touch Pro. I somehow managed to import though.
Strange but true,,,,,
All of my previous WM units, and I had most of them, had BT troubles, but the incredible has been the first device to work correctly with all of my toys. I have a Moto HT-820 stereo HS, a BT mirror in 1 car, Scala Rider BT on my bike, Kenwood system in my other car, and all work, I even made the thing transfer my contacts list from my TP 2 ;-)
Same issue here with my Atrix to my G-Tablet.
I have been all over the Google and nothing but unresolved threads out there.
I have only gotten BT pairing issues with gingerbread roms, not froyo. Are these other folk having bt issues on gb, and perhaps not froyo?

i have a stereo blutooth headset i have had it for little over a year and have used it with a couple older phones(non android) and i would always be about to just turn on headset and it would connect, when i got the dinc and tried to use my headset it would sometimes only connect to the music part or the phone part or sometimes not at all.
i found that if i turn my headset on first, then turn on the blutooth on the dinc it will connect right up no problems at all, this is completely backwards from way i have always done it but it works so i just use wiget to turn off bt if it is on on the phone, then turn on headset then turn widget back on and bingo! not sure if this will work with car or computers but as far as headset it seems to be the way to go!
hope this helps.
Yeah, wow problem ...
Well, still, this unit - a miracle!
very very much!

I'll try this right away!
Just created this thread to find out what kind of car setups do you guys have with your Galaxy Nexus?
I just created mine using NFC, BT and Tasker to send all music and calls to car stereo when I enter the car, read out sms while driving, turn up backlight during daytime etc and then go back to previous state when I exit.
Details here: My Android NFC BT Car Audio Setup
What have you done to pimp up your car with your beloved GN?
I have a 3.5mm audio in jack for aux, I purchased a XtremeMac InCharge BT for wireless music. No special "read text aloud" apps or anything, I just try not to text in the car.

I have a Parrot MKI9200. I get in the car, it connects and I drive off. No point in turning BT off (very low power in standby) and you can do the other stuff with a BT on-connect event in Tasker. Don't generally bother, TBH. Lazy, me

Interesting. Right now I just keep Bluetooth on always, and then manually open the Pandora app (for music) when I'm in the car (built-in BT stereo). Leaving the car, it turns off automatically. Eventually I'm going to set up Delayed Lock to turn off lock screen while connected to BT.

I wanted to go that route too earlier but I connect to other BT devices as well through the day . Hope Tasker adds rules for specific devices soon.

Do try out tasker along with secure settings plugin. You will pay just a little bit more but acquire this and lot more functionality.
I'm using a Kinivo BTC8 bluetooth to fm
With the OEM car dock.
NFC key-chain and NFC Task Launcher to change my settings
Works great for music, calls, navigation, etc

Doesn't Tasker already do this? When I select a context for "Bluetooth Connected," it opens a dialog where I can choose the name or address of the Bluetooth advice from a list of devices I've paired with. I choose to pair with my Parrot device, and it's always worked for me.
I should admit that I very rarely pair with any other device, so I might not notice whether Tasker is only responding to the fact of the Bluetooth connection, rather than the specific device. But if that's the case, why provide an option for you to select the specific device?

Ah thanks for letting me know about this. I had tried this very long back when Tasker had just been released and didn't think of seeing again if it had been changed. Will try this.
My g3 is completely stock like my last few phones have been.
I am looking for better control of my Bluetooth connections that automatically connect to various objects. All 3 of my connections have call audio capabilities, and I only want to use 1 for call audio. However when I get in the car its a 50/50 gamble of what will connect to my phone as the priority device resulting in me having to go change the settings every time I drive.
Here's the situation:
My car has 3 BT connections I currently use when I drive.
Priority 1: Car OEM Bluetooth connection. No audio streaming available so all I want is automatic connection for hands free through my car speakers and steering wheel controls for phone calls.
Priority 2: Garmin GPS traffic. My GPS uses an app on my phone to get traffic reports. It only needs the BT connection to communicate with my app. The problem is My GPS has hands free call audio also, but i dont use that feature and never want to. However it seems I frequently have to go uncheck the box "use call audio" in phone BT settings because this sometimes connects to my phone before the car BT does.
Priority 3: sometimes when I am not using my iPod for music I use an adapter for streaming music since my car does not offer that feature on its BT connection. Of course this adapter also offers call audio and media streaming. When this is plugged up and listening to music I have to disconnect my cars BT (listed as priority 1) as it will cause static in my music streaming. When I use this device I shut off the connection to my car and just leave the GPS (priority 2) and this connected and make phone calls by hand without hands free since this adapter does not allow me to use my steering wheel controls etc that the car has and its just easier to do it by hand. I don't always use this adapter, only when im board of my iPod and sirius and want to stream Spotify.
I've tried "Bluetooth auto connect" application but it hasn't done anything to help control which device connects and which doesn't or which of them has priority. A lot of the times I'll get in the car and disconnect all of them and start over but usually one of the devices automatically tries to reconnect causing them to interfere with each other while I'm driving. Unfortunately none of these devices have the ability to shut off features in the devices themselves which means I have to use my phone to control them.
Is there any way of controlling my bluetooth connections in more detail or am I just stuck with them battling each other every time I get in the car? Usually I don't have a problem once they are all set but if my phone restarts or I I need to start all over. If the phone would just remember which connection uses "media audio" or "call audio" this all could be avoided but the phone never ever remembers and always resets them all as checked. My Bluetooth is usually always turned on (probably what kills my battery) and I have no other connections besides what I use in the car. I had the same problems on my Xperia Z1 and don't think this is an LG G3 specific thing. I think its an android thing in general.
Thanks for any ideas.

Does anyone know a way to tell the phone to connect to the car bluetooth for calls rather than the watch when I get in the car? Then also switch back to watch bluetooth calls when I leave the car?
thanks
Does the car connect to the phone at all when you get in, or does being connected to the watch block this?
I'm wondering if you place the call/answer the call with the car's menu system/steering wheel controls what happens, or if you are unable to even get this far.
Same problem
I'm having the exact same problem.
Carkit does connect (you can see in settings) but it says "(no phone calls)".
Watch is alsoo connected and says "(phone calls)
When i use voice control or the buttons on the dash to start a call it says no phone connected.
So my phone says that it is connected to carkit (no phone calls notification however), but if i look in settings from carkit it does'nt show phone connected...
The phone doesn't even connect to the car - I have to go into bluetooth settings on the phone and manually swap between the two when I get in and out of the car. I only connect to the cars on phone, not media audio.
I use the phone in 2 different cars, so ideally want to be able to automatically prioritise which bluetooth it connects to. I know there are apps like tasker which can do this but they are so complicated (or I'm too blonde!).
other thread
Found another thread already covering the subject...
Hope this helps...

I'm on miui 13 and I have annoying issues, the device's bluetooth which unable to auto connect with car's head unit. The only way out is to unpair then pair them again. That being said, if bluetooth turned off, it can auto connect as long as car's engine still on. That did not happen to miui 12.5 which rapidly auto-connect. Anybody has any idea how to fix this?
BMW NBT?
I also have this problem. With iphone works properly.
I managed to get it fixed by putting the car audio in bluetooth connection mode, go to bluetooth app then toggle allow fullscreen app. In connect state it will disconnect then reconnect. In our case, it'll force connect to nearby previously connected device. That leaves another issue, which is media info won't update. So we kinda stuck with first song info or podcast title, then it won't refresh. Probably due to xiaomi policy to limit data transfer or simply unresolved bug. Luckily I have Samsung device which I use most of the time in this regard.
