I have the latest OTA update and using ruu file was able to downgrade to an earlier version of GB which I guess was the leaked one. I tried to go back an earlier ruu (RUU_Vivo_W_VERIZON_WWE_1.34.605.3_Radio_0.99.01.02 25_2_NV_VZW1.92_release_181303_signed) but it gave me an error about the bootloader.I have not had S-Off or root done to the phone and is just stock.
I would like to go back to the original ruu/image that was shipped with the DINC2. In worst case I will just apply the latest ruu that is the same as the latest ota.
Any suggestions?
thx
just rename any RUU to PG32IMG.zip and put onr oot of sd card and flash in hboot. since it's signed HTC you don't need root.
Were you able to do this successfully?

In HBOOT I see the message saying its Loading pg32img.zip then after awhile it says it is checking pg32img.zip and then returns back to the Main screen where you can choose fastboot, recovery etc.
After booting phone backup, I attempted again to run the ruu form from windows pc and got this error "ERROR[140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR"

Ive tried running the newest RUU to unroot several times. No matter what I cant get it to run. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstallin hts sync and cant get it. The first time it loaded to the bootloader and timed out. Now I keep getting a connection error for usb. Im running windows 7 32 bit. Can someone please help me. I received my replacement and need to unroot before I ship my old phone back. Thanks
Personally I would not use the Ruu method to unroot. If u were rooted using unrevoked forever or you where rooted without using unrevoked then you can unroot in 2 easy steps, this post is all u need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141

I tried that first. It loaded the pc36img and ran just the first thing. I believe it was the bootloader. I did turn s to on and updated hboot to 96 then just rebooted to the bootloader. It got me stuck in a bootloader. I had to user recovery to flash back a rom. I was trying the ruu and I can get it to run but fails at the bootloader. error 140

OK base on your reply it sounds that you did root using the unrevoked method. In that case you cannot run just the PC36IMG. In fact you do not need the file on the SD card for the first step. This will just make your task more difficult.
Start Over...
Remove the PC36IMG then copy just the "forever-son.zip" to your SD. Boot into recovery and flash the forever-son.zip. Then follow steps 7-15 from here on....
Remember when you boot into the boot loader your ph should say S-ON, if not u got to repeat the steps 5-7 until it does...

No I originally rooted using simple root. I'm so lost now. Like I said I rooted with simple root. When I put the PC36IMG on the root of sd and rebooted the phone. It started reading the PC36IMG file. Once it got to the part when it checks everything and says ok to the right, it just ran thru the first option then automatically rebooted my phone to the boot loader. I noticed that my phone then read s-on and had the .96 hboot. I tried to reboot again to rerun the PC36IMG it then said something about being an older version do you want to reboot. I was unable to boot into my rom at that point. I was able to go in to recovery and run a custom rom to boot to. So I figured I'd try to run the newest RUU. When running the RUU, it gets to a point and gives me an error at the boot loader part: error 140
Hey all,
I didn't know where to ask, so I'll try my luck here
I have a PB99IMG.zip that downgrade to 2.1 Android version and works great, but I would like one that will downgrade to a WWE 2.2 version.
It has to be PB99IMG.zip (rooted preferred, but isn't a must) because I need to use it if/when unavailable to get in recovery, and PB99IMG can be run from bootloader.
I tried downloading couple of WWEs and renaming them to PB99IMG.zip but it didn't work. Bootloader reads the file, but doesn't give me an option to install it.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.
You need to extract the ROM.zip from the RUU and rename it PB99IMG.zip

I tried extracting this RUU with 7zip but it failed... I guess I'm doing something wrong :/
I'm uploading it to shipped-roms at the moment, check back there later. File name is:
PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
I must say that you rock.
So, after this RUU appears on the shipped-roms, I download it, rename it to PB99IMG.zip and put it on my SD?
Yep, just remove everything except the PB99IMG from the file name
I don't recommend using this ROM for that purpose. I just flashed 2.29.405.2 with my goldcard and now I am stuck with a phone which cannot be rooted by unrevoked.
looks like HTC has patched the ROM to stop unrevoked from working.
I also tried fake flash to see if I can restore back. but no luck there either.
if you want a Foyo 2.2 PB99IMG file, I recommend you use 2.10.405.2 instead.
I rooted my phone on 2.29.405.2 first time, as I have with any other verison. You're doing something wrong

Hmmm.. must be the stupid computer. it has been working slow.. I will try doing it on a different computer and see how I go.
I say it worked, I ended up with Amon RA on the phone and the SU apk in my app drawer
I say you are right EddyOS. I tried it again on a different computer and I was able to root it using unrevoked.
so my apologies!

Guys just to clear up my concepts whenever i need to unroot.... all i need tot do is to put in the latest RUU file in zip form as mentioned in the thread and i will be back to stock froyo rom unrooted and ready to receieve OTA.... when gingerbread sense UI comes out?
i have the SLCD desire that came with factory installed Froyo and HBOOT 0.93 or 0.92 whichever it was
The ZIP I posted needs to be renamed PB99IMG.zip and copied to the SD card and then the phone turned on whilst holding power down - once in HBOOT it will then ask do you want to update and away you go
It will ONLY work on unbranded phones (those on x.xx.405.x ROMs out the box) unless you use a gold card

Just wanted to add that the Rom.zip is extracted from RUU.exe by running the RUU and checking the Temp folder. A folder appears there with weird chars starting with { and rom.zip is within it.
Hi folks,
Any idea why my "unbranded" htc desire will not update OTA for the new update:
ota_bravo_froyo_htc_wwe_2.29.405.5-2.29.405.2releasedauh16jhok5cmdm6.zip
I keep getting explanation mark in triangle with status error 7...
Try running this RUU with the phone connected to the PC, ensure USB debugging is enabled on your phone. Create a Gold Card if your are not sure whether your phone is unbranded or not.
If you receive any driver/USB associated errors when running the RUU, check that HTC Sync is installed, run as Administrator, and temporarily disable any AV software.
If you still have problems, then try the PB99IMG (rename the RUU to PB99IMG.zip and place to the root of your SD card, then flash via the Bootloader screen) method as it is a lot easier than the first method I mentioned. Just remember that if you were branded before you will need a Gold Card to allow this method to work.
If you do try the later method, remember to remove the PB99IMG.zip file from your SD card afterwards or else it will run if you ever go into recovery mode.
yep MasDroid, just a thing, the link you gave point 405.2 rom ^^
for 405.5 try this one instead => http://shipped-roms.com/download.php?category=android&model=Bravo&file=RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
That's cool.. and I will probably use the RUU to update.
however does this mean I can't perform any future OTAs? What does status error 7 actually mean?
status error 7 mean a problem with the verification of the signature.
like when you try OTA with orange desire + HTC stock rom without gold card.
perhaps HTC work on the gold card back door?
anyway that's the crap if we no longer could make OTA with our unbranded desire...
I can't update my phone with OTA at all, just keeps coming back with error 7...
I have unbranded with stock HTC rom with a gold card! (as I used it to originally unbrand my phone).
feel lost...
@garpunkal
did you try to flash from your pc with the RUU from shipped-rom?
Try the PB99IMG method i posted above instead as you won't run into PC errors.
@tozneno thanks for the updated RUU link

you're welcome, Mas ^^
@tozneno I originally flashed my phone to unbrand to the 405.2 rom... now I have an OTA update and it fails with error 7... Do I now need to reflash to get this update?
You shouldn't HAVE to but it might be something HTC have changed to stop people using a gold card?? Who knows...
If you can download the file you could try and flash it manually
@MasDroid will the PB99IMG method wipe my phone? (reflash rather than update?)
Yes, PB99IMG method is the same as RUU, it will wipe the phone
EDIT: trying to find the OTA, going through HTCs servers, and it won't work so either the file name is wrong or they've pulled it
Yes, it will reflash the firmware.
It just a more efficient method than running the RUU, which can bring up all sorts of driver/usb errors.

@EddyOS tried flashing it manually... renaming it to update.zip and doing the bootloader stuff... no luck...
Sounds like a duff OTA file to me
@EddyOs @MasDroid if it wipes the phone, I might skip this until the next major update....

You mean rename the RUU to PB99IMG.zip not the OTA update file?
Can somebody please provide me the link for stock froyo RUU India and by which I will not lose S-OFF

Guys no post please help

Not available. Get the Eclair RUU, and the Froyo OTA ZIP from Shipped ROMS. Rename the OTA ZIP to PC49IMG.zip,place on SD and reboot into bootloader. (Obviously after flashing Eclair RUU)
And whats with you multiposting and posting here? This is a Dev Related Question??
Download this RUU from here http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe
make sure you enabled debugging in your phone, connect phone to PC and follow the steps.
This will install stock eclair it will be same as brand new phone, later you can update it to Froyo. Later you can root your phone.
Note: Installing RUU does not make S-on.
You said without loosing s-off, so you must be having alpharevx s-off.
I guess you also must be having custom recovery. In such case you can just use the safe flash zips to have the stock os. They can be flashed from custom recovery just like normal custom roms.
And you can use WWE froyo ruu. There is no Indian froyo ruu presently. I think there wont be any difference between both. And you need to be aware that using an ruu will remove the custom recovery.
Alternatively, if you want Indian only, then this is the way.
First download latest Indian eclair ruu (1.25.x) and flash it [ Here you need to remember one thing, if you use the oldest eclair ruu then your touch panel won't work untill you flash the newer one ]. This gives you stock recovery but not stock hboot. This also takes you to eclair os. Now get the froyo ota for India. Rename the ota.zip to update.zip to be kept at the root of memory card. Then reboot to hboot menu and from there select recovery. This gives you a picture with phone and red triangle. Now press volume up + power. This takes you to stock recovery. Now you will see the option to apply sdcard update.zip. just do it and you will have Indian froyo stock os (but not stock hboot).
[Sorry, but renaming of ota.zip to pc49img.zip will not work AFAIK. We can find "firmware.zip" inside ota.zip. This firmware.zip contains few stock things like hboot.nb0 recovery.img radio.img. And this firmware.zip can be renamed to pc49img.zip and kept in root of sdcard (then rebooting to hboot menu) to update those things without actually updating the os.]. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have installed CyanogenMod10 and want to return to the the original factory image. All my attempts have failed.
I receive the mesage "Hboot Version is older!" then " Update Fail!"
I have extracted the RUU ROM.zip file and tried to upload manually but all my attempts fails.
Any help how to proceed will be appreciated

That is possile if the RUU is older than the one currently on your phone. If this is not the case, try to flash the RUU via the program and from hboot.

Obviously , since I have Cyanogenmod 10 installed the RUU version is older. CM10 is somehow preventing the RUU to execute correctly,
I have tried to run the RUU with Hboot but it didn't recognized the phone.
your backup is older than the bootloader version now you have .

Sorry I will be clearer. The ruu has two thing before start. It evaluates your cid and hboot version. If you had (my example here) a 2.22 stock and you want to flash the ruu of the 2.02 version it will not work because the hboot in your phone is newer. This is a security measurement for you not to be able to downgrade your os.
Even more, ruu needs stock recovery, stock kernel, and the phone to be either "locked" or "relocked". And more, if you has custom is on the phone that time, the ruu will only work from fastboot usb mode.
It is a joke tough that in these phones unlock and custom os is easily achivable, while going back to stock is like a pain in the ass.
