[Congrats, the hater made me raise the price from $20, to $40] - Goal is to replace Sense dialer with stock dialer/calllog/contacts from an AOSP 2.1 rom.
I hate SenseUI. Not Really, but the way the dialer/contacts work, is just one of my biggest problems with Sense.
So, when I get this phone, my only reason to root, is if I can replace my default phone/contacts APK.
I haven't used a Sense rom on any phone for over an hour, simply because I can NOT stand the dialer/call log and such.
Any suggestions? Please?
Im familiar with ADB, and will have no problems/regrets/worries about rooting, as I treat my phones like a first born, and dont let them get near harm.
But if there is no real hope for me replacing the Call Log/ Dialer/ Contacts part, with the style from 2.1 N1, I might as well go get my deposit back.
Anyone? First person with step for steps gets $40 donated/paypal'd/ whatever works for you
thanks for not flaming, im sure others will be pleased if this information is made simple-and-clear.

Kinda curious if LauncherPro will function correctly aswell, but i can atleast live with the Sense Launcher/drawer, but would be way happier knowing in advance that I could run some form.. Helix1/2, LauncherPro, ADW, etc.

well first off you gotta root it first, after that i'm not sure.
Edit: i'm retarded, gotta read the title of stuff before I post.
Ha. I woke up to the sweet sound of my email sound on my N1, hoping someone responded, read it.. came to the computer, to see you corrected yourself, and I dont have to be bitter.
Yes. I will root, as long as I know I can do this.
Thanks again though. .
..4 more hours.. till Tmobile can suck it.

Sorry your best bet is to wait till the cusom roms start coming out, senseUI stuff will go away real fast then. But I agree with you, i'm not a fan of it either.
The problem with Sense UI is the deepness of how it is built into the system. Technically you could push an ASOP .apk of Contacts, but you would more than likely still default back to the Sense version anyway.
Your best bet is waiting on a full ASOP or ASOP-esque build that will remove Sense for the most part. $10 dollars please!
Come on.. there isnt a way I cant also have my contacts/phone dialer/call log as a seperate APK and not over-write the sense stuff? like just have both installed on my phone?
On modaco fourms a while back, in a sense rom they said that was an option, i cant find the original thread for the life of me right now..

I said it.
I still have not found an acceptable solution to this.
Im intending on giving this a full week, before I just return my phone.
I dont mind so much, if it doesnt straight up REPLACE my standard call/contacts/call log, if I can include the stock APK from AOSP 2.1, that runs coexsistant with the current setup, that will be fine.
Someone? Anyone? ill raise the price to $20 if someone can find me an acceptable solution.
Is it not possible for this to just turn into a simple app, like Dialer One basically remade the Sense dialer/contact lists into an app?
every single person that doesnt have htc smart dialer wants it, and you that have it wants to get rid of it, htc dialer > android dialer, sorry but you're truly being a big baby, just return the phone someone will make better use of it.

ha, you sirrrr are out $20
You do realize, what Im asking isnt too far fetched.. considering this is a forum based off of doing things to the phone that were never originally intended for it right?
You just mad you dont have one? Who knows.
We dont need you, or your god damned negativity.
**** it. $40 on the table.
I already got my evo and don't need your chump change, I had a mytouch3g and a nexus one and always wanted to have the HTC smart dialer and now that I have it , I see a retard trying to get it off his phone, anyway on topic just wait till they root and release an eclair build or a froyo build.

Really man just wait there will be roms where you can choose which dialer or contacts you want

You , aldi, arent seeing the point here. So go play somewhere else
Stop wasting my ****ing time. You obviously dont know what is and isnt possible, and its that whole "oh just wait until its out" type of mentality that doesnt motivate anyone, to make things happen.
Please, jump out of this thread, and **** yourself.
Then do something about it get the phone apk from the nexus one dump and try to push it to the evo be creative you're just a retard trying to get things handed to you I don't see why a dev trying to get froyo on our device would stop doing that so just one guy could get Android dialer on his evo, you're just plain stupid really.

Dude if I had time, I would, otherwise I wouldnt be offering money to people.
Devs that are working on Froyo, im not asking them to do anything different.
but there sure as hell are enough people on here, that have a better understanding of android coding than I currently do, and obviously im not the only person with an interest in this.
Please, im not intending to make this thread a argument between you and me.
Get something to say to me? Then message it, stop cluttering this ****.
I know $40 isnt even an hours worth a work when compared to the price I charge people for IT work, or hardware diagnostics.
If there has to be a higher price to make it happen, ill be paying it, Not you, and everyone else will benefit.
So stop crying about me wanting to put money into the hands of somebody that may need, or want the cash flow.
It's not the giving away money that bothers me its just the fact that you want to dumb down your phone that I cannot comprehend anyway good luck but like they said sense seems pretty deep into the OS so it might not be such an easy task

Here's an UNTESTED thought:
I downloaded another Rom from the Hero forums that should have the AOSP dialer and yanked the phone.apk file from the v2.5.3 download (it should be attached below, there's a newer one up there too if you want to try that instead)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663366
The idea is that if you install it and then press the phone button, it should prompt you for which dialer you want to use and if you select "Contacts", it should drop you into the AOSP dialer. You might need the "contact.apk" file as well on further research...but no harm in trying, right? If it fails, just uninstall and it should drop you back to normal.
If it works, I nominate the money goes to toast and/or flipz...because I love toast and flipz's work since my hero days.
HINT: NO SYSTEM RW ROOT AT THIS TIME, meaning until we get that you cant replace any of the system apps.

Worth mentioning, is that I did pull the Contacts.apk, contactsstorage.apk, and Phone.apk, directly off my N1,
and while I tried to install all of them, in the end it doesn't allow it to happen.
this was a common knowledge move to me, as I assumed this wasn't going to work, before mrono and thecodemonk posted it.
I had to leave for the redbull air races before I could post that i tried directly that, to no avail.
but, the lack of System RW root, was the type of explanation i was looking for, as to why it didn't work.
thanks again, when we further this, Ill spread $ to the right directions, if not put some towards the proper Dev's now anyway.
If you root using toasts method and have rw permissions in recovery. Try this while in recovery
adb remount
adb push Phone.apk /system/app
Try a few different phone apks from nexus or cdma hero darchdroid or any other 2.1 AOSP rom.
Sometimes just installing apps wont work. And it should ask you to replace the htcdialer when pressing the phone icon. You dont have to have rw while in android for this to happen. Its something included in all android phones. Just like if you install a launcher from the market, you dont have rw permissions but it will still ask you if you want to switch launchers when you press home. If it doesnt ask then try to go to Setting>applications>manage apps> htcdialer and then see if you can select "clear default"
EDIT: im going to post an aosp phone.apk from an htc rom that that someone put together.
Try this View attachment Phone.apk
How to install sprint vvm and the htc calender on cm6 and where to get the files.

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I can't guarantee that it will work but you could follow the links to the sprint updated flashable vvm zip. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
If that fails, you could try to extract the zip to grab the apk inside. I think I might have tried this with something else and failed but it's worth a shot.
The stock evo visual voicemail works

Wolf,
Wow, Sprint VVM will work on a senseless ROM. I had it on a cyanogem ROM on my old hero and also on my Evo. It even worked on the early, rough builds on the stuff darchstar was doing for the Hero. It sucks that it doesn't work for you, but that doesn't mean that it will not work at all. Searching the CM6 thread would have shown you people discussing how to get vvm working AND their success in doing so.
Oh, and here is something we all probably forget from time to time about internet arguments.
"Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."
I have cm6 and I instaled the vvm and everytime I get a vm I get a text from 9016...its so annoying how can I stop it

I've never installed this program before so I cannot vouch for it. You can try "Super - Private Conversation" in the market. You can search for "call sms mms block" in the market and pick your poison. At the very least, search "sms block" in the market app.
My suggestion is if someone doesn't have the patience or desire to help a newb, then don't flame them. Ignore the newb. Let someone else respond to them.
Could the errors you're experiencing when trying to install it be that the download, for whatever reason, got corrupted? It could be that the cm6 you have downloaded and flashed might be bad but I doubt it. Another idea is to go back into recovery and wipe phone and all caches and flash it again from the beginning. Maybe the flash snafu'd the first time around.
I'm not saying this is the answer to everything, I'm just offering up suggestions I would try myself. Installing or reinstalling isn't a big deal to me. I'm used to it from the windows days and linux when I screwed up something so bad I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Maybe reflashing the google apps on top of itself might fix the google voice problems. My gv is working fine.
I'm trying my best to ignore the drama...
wow 5 pages down to one after cleaning out the bad stuff.
look this is the Q&A section. its a place to ask questions. no one should feel like they cant ask a question in this section. those who would like to debate that please keep it to yourself. that said back on topic.
to contribute to the thread instead of flaming and calling names. i will add that u need a few libs and a few other apks to go with the VVM.apk. u will also need part of htcs frameworks that are missing from cm. this is the issue. cm doesnt have everything the apks and libs need. one could fix this but it would take some time sorting it all out.
First of all, let me apologize for being very ignorant about most of the stuff on here, even though I am very interested. I have looked and can not find a definitive answer, although I believe I should have antivirus, I have no idea what to use. I have Norton Systemworks on my PC. I also want to root my phone to be able to get rid of some of the factory installed garbage on it. I have been told that it is not wise to delete some of the installed apps because android uses parts of some to make others work. Is there anyway to do a total recovery image of my stock phone so if I totally screw it up, I can fall back on it? I think so, based on what I have read here---but honestly, I got a headache yesterday reading on here and trying to learn. I am not a super-techy guy, I just want my phone to do what I want it to, and none of the extra crap that I don't want. And lastly, should I wait to root my phone until Gingerbread comes out, or will it really matter? While I do know what a rom does and is, I do not understand kernels or most of the other things on here, so i actually need 'hand-holding' through some of this. Thank you for your help...anything you can tell me will help out.
hey man. i am willing to help you thorugh this entire thing. pm me for any more questions, but here is a start. it seems you have a baisic computer working knowledge, so this wont be too hard. first, a kernel is the scripts that let the hardware communicate with the software. the nice thing about this is it can easily be modified and built upon. a few devs have added scripts and stuff to the stock kernels to make them much more powerful and battery efficiant.
this recovery image you are talking about wont fix you phone if you screw it, but it will take you back in time to when you made the backup. you can also unroot to take off any mods you have applied. always remember to MAKE A NAND BACKUP WHENEVER YOU DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR PHONE THAT COULD REMOTELY BE CONSICERED A MODIFICATION. otherwise, you can end up with a very expensive paperweight.
there are partitions on the phone's memory. there are things like userdata and cache, but there are three main ones that we will mess with: system, recovery, and hboot. system is the rom of the phone. it is the software. it si obvious why this would be altered: to get better, more efficiant, or cooler software. then, we have the recovery. this is a factory tool for resetting and manual updating. this is packed with security, but there is no security that keeps us from changing the recovery. get where i'm going? if we change the recovery to one that has been heavily cracked and maybe built from scratch by a very talented dev (i reccomend amonra's recovery) then we can make the phone believe it is being updated when we are really modifying it.
the hboot is a developmental factory partition that is used for total firmware updates and google/android development. removing the security from this is the first stage in rooting.
i would highly reccomend rooting, and would be happy to 'hold your hand' along the way. i hope this helps and does not just confuse you more.
dk
oh, almost forgot. dont wait for gingerbread. the devs will make some roms that will include gingerbread packed in. i actually reccomend you root before gingerbread so you dont have to wait for a root method for that.
lookout antivirus can be found in the market.

Like mhoodie, I, too, am a newbie in need of hand-holding. How do I make a nand backup? My EVO is rooted 2.1 with XDA- WiFi Tether, no 147.651.~.~. How to upgrade to Froyo and maintain root? How can a friend with brand new Evo root and load XDA- WiFi Tether? AFTER these I'd like to know how to flash a ROM. You can communicate with me through this forum or [email protected] or 908-251-3532. Of course I'll contact you any way you like.

I wouldn't worry about using an anti-virus on android, they're pretty much useless and will do nothing but eat up your battery. Once you root you can install a custom recovery that you have to reboot the phone in and that can create backups of all your partitions. Those are called nandroids and are basically a snap shot of how your phone is set up at that moment. You must be rooted to do any of this though.
Ok, just because I do not quite understand....why is it that I do not need antivirus on my Evo since I surf the web, download apps, and open emails.....on a PC, the same things without protection against virus, trojans, etc... will get my pc and life screwed in a very short time? And, by 'screw my phone up', I mean if I delete something that I need.....can I just go back---also, is there anywhere a list of the apps that android uses to run other things. Specifically, I want to get rid of the exchange mail, amazon mp3,qik, peep, friendstream, nascar, stocks, news, news and weather. I have no need for these apps, and as most of you know for whatever reason, evo will run them whenever it wants.
i have no idea about antiviruses, but you can delete anything that is either a widget or an app in your launcher. everything else is proceed with caution.
definitely root...antivirus is a personal thing...I do use lookout and its free in the market.
after you root...I suggest using titanium backup to uninstall most if not all of those apps you mentioned.
you could also go the custom ROM route...most ROMs out there already have most of those apps removed already.

Antiviruses being useless, so far, on android is just my opinion. If you feel better having one then by all means go for it.
There is a thread around here somewhere that has a list of all the apps you can safely delete, I don't have a link to it atm but you should be able to find it with a quick search.
Imo root now, nothing is holding us back with unrevoked forever, as for bloatware, have you tried flashing a rom? VirusRom Anthrax B4 is my poisen, and its bloat free¡

For me, personally, I never have and never will use antivirus programs on my computer. As long as you are knowledgeable, you shouldn't ever get viruses or anything. You just have to know what you are doing.

im no genius but i have been messing with rooting and android since the tmobile g1 and i had to learn all on my own. what everyone is telling u makes absolute sence but the main thing to stress is tell your friend to not update using sprints update firmware because all they do is patch the loophole to gain root access. dont wait for gbread. jump on team douche and cyanogen and enjoy the real power of android and the evo. any quetions [email protected]
Ok, so does it matter what procedure I use to root or do they all do basically the same thing, and then differences begin when I start changing the kernels and Rom around? I am going to try to root in a couple of weeks. Maybe next saturday, and I want to get as much understanding as I can before I jump in. I am sure once I play around with this for a bit I will have no problem, but I am very much a hands-on learner and its hard for me to learn something that is new to me just by reading, especially when most of what I am reading makes very little sense to me. So, thanks to everyone for their patience and help!
Myn's WarmTwopointTwo
Hi there. I was in the same boat as you are. I learned all by trail and error and by reading forum after forum. There is a ton of info out there and it can be a little too much and there are a lot of contradicting statements... I just rooted about 3 weeks ago using unrevoked3. It's the easiest way to root your phone and the safest, at least I believe that. There are other ways, but it include using the command line and things like that. With unrevoked its a very simple user friendly, 3 step process. I would highly recommend rooting your phone, once you do you will never look back. It bring out the full potential in the EVO. The best thing I like about it is I can get about double the battery life of the stock version. Check this ROM out - although it is the only one I tried I am so in love with it, I have absolutely no urge to try another ROM. Here is the second release of this ROM - the third one is in beta testing, which I am doing right now and it is 100% amazing. In order to become a beta tester, all you have to do is donate, or wait until this friday when the final version is released - FOR FREE! Here is the link for the release #2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471#. You can read the thread if you have any questions about it - I know there are 600+ pages. Check out the first page and all the features that are included in this ROM. All the bloatware you speak of are not installed with this ROM. You have the option to install them. Then the other thing is the kernel. With the release 3 of WarmTwoPointTwo it comes with an HTC kernel, which I found to actually be the best out there for this ROM. I have been getting about 29 hours with moderate use with a single charge on the battery!! Pretty good huh? Please let me know if you have any more questions....You can send me a private message if you wish...I'm here to help you. Everyone on this site has been great with helping me and it seems they are willing to help anyone. I hope this helps. Oh you I just remembered you might wait until saturday to root. If you do that, I would def. recommend release #3, but if I were you I would not wait that long!
Here's a screen shot of just my home screen. Notice how much you can customize EVERYTHING. I will post more screen shots when I get time tomorrow.
I am getting ready to root my phone and when I connected to the pc, it was the first time. Drivers installed except for ADB. Is this something that I should skip, or do I need to get a driver from htc for this?
adb is very neccesary. it is obtainable from android's dev page. sorry no link (ipad) just google android go to dev section and hit download sdk.
Hi everybody, I have been closely following the ICED GLACIER ROM development thread since it was started. I know there is a consistently growing number of people who have just purchased their myTouch 4G phone (android noobs and vets). The ICED GLACIER ROM thread is getting really large, and I am sure the thought of reading through 1,600+ posts can potentially be a little overwhelming and very time consuming. I know everyone is really excited to try that AWESOME ROM, but I also see in the thread that everyone wants to know what works, what doesn't, how to fix this, etc... I'm hoping that people with questions about this ROM can look here for an answer before asking questions in the other thread that have already been answered along the way (sometimes many times). I hope this will help the devs too- if we can provide info and answer questions about everything that has already been answered in the other thread then we can get rid of repeat posts of questions and problems that are cluttering up the other thread- meaning it'll hopefully be really easy to narrow down current hiccups or problems people are experiencing. If anyone can contribute to this thread, it would be greatly appreciated!
*Flashing- When I first flashed this ROM, Iced Glacier was at 1.0, first I flashed V0.5, then V1.0. With V1.1, you no longer need to flash V0.5 or any other version first- you can go from stock rooted to V1.1 (make sure to make a nandroid backup first!!!). If you are not sure how to flash this ROM, or how to root your phone- you WILL find answers by reading through some of the other threads in this section. *It looks like a few people have had problems when/ after flashing this ROM due to not completely wiping the phone in different versions of this ROM- you might want to do a complete wipe just to be thorough (I'm no expert, it's just a suggestion to hopefully save you any headaches down the road)
*Overclocking- Make sure to install/ purchase SetCPU, so you can tweak the processor speeds. If you are not sure what SetCPU is, or how to use it- do some studying first. It has been noted that each of our phones responds differently with the different speed settings- I have noticed, that when I have my phone set too high it freezes (particularly while I'm surfing using Dolphin HD), and I have also noticed that I get better performance (and Quadrant results) when my max speed is set at 1440 mhz as opposed to 1382 or 1497mhz. Again, every phone will respond different. Play with the different speeds and see what works best for your phone- everyone can make recommendations (i.e. lower clock speeds with the screen off, battery low, or temp too high), but in the end you have to find what works best for you. I would recommend that you use the 'on demand' option instead of 'performance' to avoid having your phone constantly working at the highest set clock speed though, and don't forget to set different profiles (i.e. screen off, temp too high, battery low...). Remeber, this will affect your battery life, along with a million other variables related to your phone, so make note of before and after results to find a good balance between speed/performance and battery longevity to your liking.
*Apps and Data before flashing the ROM- install 'Titanium Backup' (I recommend purchase as well to support the creator) and batch 'backup all of your apps and data' (run the batch 'verify backup' afterwords to make sure you have a good backup to restore after installing this ROM). I had problems with my backups, so after I flashed V1.0 every time I tried to batch 'restore all apps and data' my phone would reboot, in the end I went through my backup and individually restored data (and app if it was missing) for all of my apps- time consuming, I know, but it was worth it to have this ROM (note: I was using the free version of TB- I now have purchased the app, but haven't had to use it yet for a full batch 'restore').
*Once you have installed the ROM- open 'rom manager' and execute 'fix permissions'. Do this first, as it will likely fix force closes or the 'instant close upon starting the app' that sometimes happens, before you experience them. After running 'fix permissions'- power down, pull your battery for a couple minutes, and then restart your phone (I suggest this, because I had an 'instant close' problem with wi-fi calling and power down + pull battery fixed it for me). You will also want to check to make sure your wi-fi is functional-if not Gr8gorilla has a fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9328350&postcount=1
*Test a flash website on your browser- if it does not work, you likely have to install flash from the market. If it does work- you should be good.
*Bluetooth- If you use bluetooth for calls, it should work fine (I use bluetooth for making calls and have had no problems with V1.0 or V1.11). However, if you use bluetooth for stereo music (A2DP) I understand that it does work with V1.0, but not on V1.11. I have noticed that when I have bluetooth turned on and try to dial a number on the stock dialer- it is very very sluggish to dial the numbers (ex. I press a 5 on the dial pad and wait about 2-3 seconds for the number to light up, sound the DTMF tone, and provide the haptic feedback). I have since switched over to using the 'atakephone' app and have had 0 problems. ***The devs are aware of the bluetooth issue, and plan to include a fix in the next update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9684992&postcount=1577 *EDIT*- bluetooth fixed in ROM V1.1.2
*Genius/ Handsfree- there have been issues with this not functioning properly or not at all. Again, this will be fixed in the next update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9684317&postcount=1573 *EDIT* Fixed in the V1.1.2 update!
*YouTube app- I would say it's not usable- it starts 'turbo scrolling' when I use it- it will sometimes stop if you hold your finger on the screen, but revert back when you take your finger off. This ROM is based off of the original MT4G kernel and I think I read somewhere that the version of this youtube app associated with the original kernel had this bug. Goolge released a new version of the youtube app yesterday (12-8-10)- since I installed that update, I no longer have problems in the app. *EDIT* See *RECAP- KNOWN ISSUES below.
*MMS- looks like some are having problems sending and recieving MMS messages- it might be a problem with the phone rather than this ROM (I am getting a replacement because my phone has that problem). Depending on who you talk to at Tmo customer service, they will confirm it as a known issue with the 4G. Make sure to do atleast a handful of tests sending and recieving with your phone before and after flashing. *EDIT*- some people (myself included) noticed that when using the stock messages app, contacts pictures don't display- looks like there are 2 fixes, 1 being a FULL wipe and fresh install of the ROM or 2- clearing cerain contacts cache settings as Notxel21 posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9706457&postcount=1653
*Bloatware- this ROM has the original bloatware apps removed. The Monopoly demo, demo video, Rock Band Demo, etc. are gone (as well as some other stuff that I forgot to mention- which is proof that it wasn't needed in the ROM anyway ).*** A 'spare parts' app was added for tweaking window animations and viewing battery stats. A 'dsp settings' app was also added to allow equalizer settings for the phones earpiece, external speaker, and the 3.5mm headphone port (really sweet btw!). I had to reinstall 'superuser', 'rom manager', and titanium backup from the market after flashing. The market still works for me after flash without any glitches fwiw.
***Updates- they will come when they come, theres no need to ask about it every day or so. The easiest way to check for yourself is to open the Iced Glacier ROM thread and look at the changelog in post #2- the devs have been faithful to update that post whenever they release a new version. (You can also look through the first post, but the second is cleaner as they put the newest changelog right at the top of the post) *EDIT*- Version 1.1.2 released
*RECAP- KNOWN ISSUES-- Youtube- no worky until you update in the market *EDIT* some are having problems with the youtube app in the 1.1.2 version- looks like it works fine until you use the app in landscape and try to return to portrait- the display returns to portrait, but stays stretched out for widescreen.
*Themed vs. Unthemed- I tried themed first in V1.0- I switched to unthemed and currently use V1.11 unthemed. I only used the V1.0 themed version for about 15 minutes, so I can't really provide any info on it aside from intense screen transition effects and alot of blue/black icons. V1.0 unthemed appears just like stock (if you don't like the HTC sense, you can use launcher pro, ADW or a list of other homescreen replacements). V1.11 Unthemed looks just like stock, but the drop down notification bar is transparent, and the icons at the top are colored with a circle battery meter that shows the battery % in the middle (very cool). There are other notification icon options available in the themes and apps section of this MT4G forum if you want to try something different, but I think you will lose the transparent drop down if you flash a different bar.
*There are also some other issues that seem to be random- someone is having problems with wifi not working at all, someone having problems with the 'media room' app, etc... to my knowledge there is currently no resolve for these problems.
Hope this helps! If anyone has anything to contribute, please let me know, and I will try to update this OP, so all the help stays in one common place.
Maybe consider making each topic header bold or something to combat the "wall of text" effect.

Excellent, thanks! I just threw it together on 'notepad'...never gonna do that again- no formating sucks lol
1.1.2 is up now.... in case you didnt see lol..
No DSP manager in this one, didnt look to see if it was in 1.1.1. Also, Wish Meltus Audi hack worked for our phones.

lol, Yeah, 1.1.2- go figure, just as I got done typing this out I logged in to the forums here to see that. I've never heard of Wish Meltus Audi- I'm gonna do a search.
EDIT: Found it- Meltus' Audio Hack- that would be cool!

OK, how do I move it, or do I have to request it be moved?
I guess it probably could be closed anyway since IG is now at 1.1.2. Gotta love the speed of development!
I like how not a single person thanked you for your effort. So... thank you! This was very nice of you.

Hey, thanks alot, that goes a long way! Since IG has been updated I will continue to keep an eye on it and update this thread accordingly. I plan to work on that tonight.
No Bugs in Mine
I have noticed none of the above mentioned bugs you claim. Youtube works fine, and so does Genius button. According to information I have gotten from others on IRC, the only bug is BT stereo, which I do not care about to be honest. I recommend the non-themed version.

Your fortunate. Not everyone has experienced all of these bugs, I'm just posting what I have read about in the IG ROM thread as well as what I have experienced. As far as the non-themed version, it's my fav. Just got my replacement phone and looking forward to flashing IG 1.1.2, but first I'm gonna play catchup in that thread to see if I need to update this one yet.

Duplicate Ringtones and Notifications
I am not sure what happened but all of a sudden I see two of each ringtone and notification. They seem to work properly but not sure why they are showing up twice. I added a few new ones to /system/media/audio by hand. Wondering if this has been tested by anyone else. I do not have any in /sdcard since I thought that could be problematic.
=====================
Update: I fixed this issue by creating directories on /sdcard/media/audio as follows but empty folders:
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Also according to Zinx: Any folders on the /sdcard named notifications or ringtones will be found regardless of subdirectories...thus I think that may have been the entire issue I was seeing.
Everything looks about right

I'm glad you were able to fix it! I had that same problem shortly after I got my phone, but it was with alot of my pictures as well. I ended up searching my sdcard from my computer for *.mp3 and *.jp to find all of the duplicates.

Was that through Clockwork- when you choose the reboot option after flashing? When you power down, do you have to pull your batt before you can restart your phone again? I know that the first time I flash a zip through clockwork, when I select reboot- there is a longer delay than if I were to execute that command without flashing any .zips.
Nice thread, should really help. I really wish someone had a list of the bloatware that was removed from it though, I used more of it than I didn't. There might be something removed that I might need someday.
I posted this on the CM Slide forum but I haven't gotten any actual help yet, I'm hoping someone here on XDA will be a bit more helpful
CM6/7 comes with the Gallery3D apk, which looks nice. However, it's slow. I hate opening it and sitting there waiting for the pictures to load, especially in folders with a lot of pictures.
It's even more annoying when I am trying to send an email/picture message and I have to sit there for a couple minutes waiting for them to load.
Does anyone have the stock gallery apk, or a good alternative? Or ANYTHING which will help whatsoever?
Thanks
So I don't know what this is, but the thread looked similar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775897&highlight=gallery
You could try that out, the file on mediafire there is Gallery.apk, but I haven't tried it out.
Thanks for the quick response
I actually did try doing that, it worked but it was very..unorganized, I guess. And no way to change it around to make it better
I'm currently using JustPictures...hoping to pull the stock gallery from my girlfriends Slide when I see her..but I was hoping maybe someone had a nandroid backup or something.
I looked in the stock Eclair ROM and it' says HTCAlbum.apk. I'll upload the .apk for ya, I hope it helps you out somewhat.
EDIT: AlbumStuffs.zip has 3 files, the .odex and 2 lib files. Lemme know if that helps out Now I'm interested in if this works.
Thank you!
I'm going to try it now, I'll edit this when I find out what happens.
*edit*
No good. I get Application Not Installed.
I'm currently trying to push to /system/app via ADB, hoping that helps.
Any ideas on what might work if this doesn't?
Thanks!
**edit 2**
ADB install gives me Install Failed Missing Shared Library, I'm guessing there's another file that goes with the HTCAlbum.apk, maybe an odex or whatever?
Would you mind maybe doing a quick search for anything associated with it, and upload if you find it? I'd appreciate it
Thanks again.
i would like the samething. i hate that the 3d gallery lags!!
well, I've tried pushing those files, fresh installs, and a few other unorthodox methods... can't seem to get the 2D gallery working from the HTC based Album. I'm not a dev at all, so I really can't do much else to help out here. Maybe a dev will glance over here while they are bored and looking for a project or something? Good Luck though, hope you are able to get this working.
You can't pull the stock gallery for several reasons. One, it's odexed, and our rom isn't, which might be why you get app not installed. Frameworks aren't compatible. Even if it was deodexed, it wouldn't work, since stock htc apps are tightly tied into com.htc.resources.apk and other htc and tmobile framework apk files which cm roms don't have. It is probably impossible to run htc system apps as standalone apps on other roms. Personally I don't have gallery issues running cm7, but if you do you will have to find a market alternative.
You can also select a tool like astro when attaching images when it asks you what you want to use to select an image, if you are having issues with the stock gallery from google.
