My Arc is rooted and I've removed the bloatware, so I can no longer update via OTA. Fair enough.
But how can I stop my phone from asking me to update? I only have the option to update now, or later. No "never". And so I'm stuck with the silly update icon in my status bar.
Any ideas that work?

How to disable the OTA notification
Go to Settings / About phone / Software update / and unchecked the Auto search option
I did that, but I still get notifications

Do you guys know any work around to disable the no service notification in status bar? "no service". I want to turn it off and discover on my own that I have no service. It gets so annoying sometimes. Similar thing has been done to USB debugging notification, where we only change something in build.prop
Bump. Anyone?

Haven't found a solution to permanently remove the notification bug. I know clear data removes it but on reboot it just comes back. Jellybomb had it removed but i deleted the voicemail app and now its back. Help?

Why would you want to delete the voicemail.apk? Do people not call you?
I'm not trying to be mean but, why?
Google voice... what I'm talking about is the notification that can't be swiped away even when there are no voicemails. Its just an annoying notification that can only be cleared when you wipe the data in the phone app

I don't have it. But verify in Settings if a "not read" notification is enabled.
Delete the app and install it again. One time I restored messages with My Backup Root and an old failed message notification just don't stop showing.

After getting Jelly Bean, I noticed that the mobile data quick toggle was not in the notification center anymore. Is there any way to put this back on stock? I used that a ton.

Are you stock rooted? theres a link that themes the notification bar to blue and adds a mobile data toggle as well check it out if you're rooted

check screenies
It's not even present in the 4.4.2 OTA update. I've been trying to find a mod or theme that is compatible with 4.4.2 so I can have a data toggle finally, but it only seems to work for the T-Mobile S4 and S5.
Google and your carrier want you to always stay connected so they just stopped making it so easy to turn off.

Hi all,
my xperia s is running on rooted .2.45 with lock BL, but I just received the update notice for .2.55 yesterday. As far as I know, the root kit on this forum won't work for this new version, so I would like to know if there's anyway I can hide this notification ? It has been constantly sitting on my status bar and simply won't let me dismiss it.

If u have root just freeze update center app or uninstall it.

I don't think freezing the update centre is the best way to do since I am still waiting for the OTA update to arrive so I'll have a rooted .2.55. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to dismiss the update notification on my status bar because it's really annoying.

Freeze UpdateCenter.apk in system

So if I go setting -> apps -> update centre -> clear data. My status bar would actually be clean for about 12 hours before another update notification kicks in.
Is there any other way I can dismiss the notification without freezing the app ? Because I know for sure that if you update your system via OTA method, you can preserve your root access, and that is what I am waiting for.

dude; just freeze it..!
when u think OTA should be there.. unfreeze to check if it is there update, if not then freeze..
its just like checking an email manually.. without push notification
is possible to hide update notification on non rooted xperia s?
I am still on initial firmware and I don't want, for the moment, to update my HTC firmware.
But I have a notification in the bar and messages from HTC each 4 hours to make me update my system.
Do you have a to to block this persistent notification? [emoji19]
I think you can disable the notification through settings menu

Yes, probably, but for the moment I haven't found.[emoji19]
HTC m8 s on + insertcoin
Nobody knows ?
Settings - Apps - All - Updater.
Force stop.
and clear data.
That should do it. If you want to update later, perform a manual search for updates.
