Miui rom Lagg - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My miui rom laggs for somereason. I am running the IPhone theme and advanced task killer. I just don't know why. I am running a Tiamit kernel. It is not a very strong lagging, its more jittery. For launcher settings everything but keep in system memory is disabled. Looking for suggestions.

What settings are you using on your task killer? You may want to disable it (may need to reboot the phone to fully take effect), and see how your phone acts.
Also, you may want to see how the rom runs without the custom kernel. To go back to the stock MIUI kernel, just flash the rom again.
I'd say one of the two things above is causing your issues.

Nvm fixed w/a hack to disable wall paper scrolling. If someone wants, I can link

Would it be possible to strip some .apks out of MIUI for use with CM7

I like MIUI, I really do, but it seems I just cannot keep it from lagging my phone to death. I have tried different kernels and setcpu to no avail.
I really love the launcher and the way notifications drop down from the status bar instead of popping up in a box.
Is there any way I can move this functionality over to CM7? Or maybe there is some way to duplicate it?
Thanks all.

Try looking into vipermod and v6 supercharger. I run both on my evo and it doesn't lag at all.

[Q] Reboots on Nils Business Gingersense 3.5

Hello all, I am new to the world of rooting and roming with my Incredible. I have tried a couple of ROMs, and have decided that I really like Nil's Business Gingersense 3.5. I installed this ROM following the instructions shown on Nils thread, and I really love the Sense 3.5 experience.
One problem I have been having is that periodically, when exiting an app, rather than going to the home screen it will show an HTC screen, and then loading for a few seconds before showing the homescreen. By reading Nil's official thread, I see that someone else had the same problem, and it was suggested that he may be using a task killer that is killing the process. I am not using any task killers, and am having the same problems.
Has anyone else run into this issue, and been able to correct it?
Thanks,
Brennan
I'm on nils 2.0 right now and I'm not getting that problem... Try reinstalling the Rom and if that doesn't work try freeing up some memory in the task killer ... In notifications > quick settings and scroll down till u see "Total memory" and press kill all

I've been having the same issues with my nils 3.5. It seems to happen mostly when i'm backing out of the stock browser. No task killers for me either.

Same problem here. I installed over my stock 2.2 ROM (I reset factory setting and formatted /system). I just did the "clean" wipe on installing the stock 2.3 ROM and then installed the Business Gingersense. I've only been up and running for an hour so I haven't had too much time to test it to see if it helped.
I've tried a number of things, and am still getting the reboots. I uninstalled some apps that run in the background that I don't use much (Google+) and that seems to have helped, but I still have the reboots periodically. I haven't had a chance to wipe, but I am doubtful that will help since I followed Nils instructions to install stock GB and then his rom.

I was getting it too mostly after using the stock browser and handcent. I flashed his latest update and its happening less, I also have only had the lockscreen freeze once on his latest as well.
I have had the same issue, but can't seem to find a rhyme or reason for it. I have tried to track the various scenario's with no luck. I just flashed to the latest of tiny's Kernel and Nil's 2.2 for 3.5. Hopefully that will help.
I had a couple of spontaneous reboots with earlier versions of Nil's 3.5, but when I flashed v2.1 I went through the longer process of flashing the stock OTA first per his installation instructions and it actually seems to have helped! It's been stable and relatively snappy. I installed EXT4ALL and am using the smartass v2 governor with SetCPU.
Look up V6 Supercharger, In the Nil's Gingersence 3.5 development thread. Supercharger worked for me. Haven't had the reloading Problem for a week now.

That's the only solution available for now. The V6 Supercharger Script. You have to bulletproof the launcher with the V6 script

I installed and ran the V6 supercharger script and no more launcher reboots!
Thanks for the suggestion!

Cm7 dropped keys and swype issues.

So I'm running cm7 with nyan kernel and when I type on my keyboard it sometimes misses a character. Is this kernel related would flashing another kernel fix it? I remember this was a problem back on froyo and there was the flashable zips to fix it but I haven't seen anything like that in a while.
Also, I restored a backup of my swype keyboard (the blue one from most of the tw themes) and it works perfectly, but everytime I reboot I get all these FC's on it and it doesn't go away until I restore "app only" in tb. Its not that big of a problem but its annoying. Is there any way to get rid of that? I believe it also is a cm7 related issue since it didn't happen to me on tw or cm9.

I've had a similar problem with CM9 Nightly on Nyan ICS. Once I unrooted back to stock using ODIN and rooted again (clean install) with the same ROM, with a different kernel this time, my keyboard seemed to run smooth.
My keyboards problem was it would disappear outta the blue.. I had to exit out of my messaging app completely, sometimes even thatt wouldn't do it.
Hope that helps somehow!

I currently went back to tpr so if I go back I will try to flash a different kernel cuz I was also using nyan kernel so maybe that would help. Thanks.

How to get speedier stock ROM?

I feel like this stock rooted JB is smooth but lags.
Any suggestions to speed it up without any tweaks?

Root and uninstall the bloat. If not sure then disable it. Without going into tweaks this is the best you are going to get. I have tried this configuration and it does help some but there is still lag. Welcome to the TW framework.
There are a couple of things I have noted though. Right after you reboot many things lag. This includes homescreens, drawer, dialer, contacts, messages, etc. Once you have cycled through them at least once they readily open up quickly afterwards. There are a couple of apps that do seem to lag regardless (I think it is just a faulty transition affect though). This includes the Calendar apps...both Samsung and Google.

Flash a kernel??
Delete useless things in system apps, i noticed that really bogs down your potential speed. Even the wallpapers you don't need. Delete it all :silly:

Looking to kill the lag.

Hey everyone, can I get tips for decemating the lag on this phone. Its really making me consider the HTC One. At this point, the s4 is slower than my nexus 4. Thank you.

Well flash a custom rom, ooen dev settings and decrease the time for transitions, or maybe try seeder (I havent tried)

What have you done/installed since you got your phone? My phone actually hasn't experienced any noticeable lag at all, not even once since opening the box. And I had three of them - all had zero lag. Of course, I still went and updated it and disabled some stock apps. It's getting better and better. The only issue is the speed at which this phone gets warm performing basic tasks like camera, email, internet. Even sometimes in my pocket with Sync turned off and Sound muted, the phone would get warm by itself. That's funny.

I installed action launcher, removed animations and thats about it. Right now I'm downloading the wicked rom to install, but I don't want to lose all of the samsung features such as, "smart scroll, s beam, multi-window, etc). Would you happen to know if the wicked v2 rom removes any of those?
im tired of the lag too.im on stock rooted with all the gimmics disable , my gf gs3 is alot faster. gallery takes about 2 sec just to open.
hopefully is fixed. had the htc one but battery life on it doesnt compare to gs4 .
If you don't want to be rooted to "kill the lag" go to recovery mode and factory reset and reboot. Do not touch or do anything with the phone for 5 minutes before setting up.
Im stock rooted, running Faux's kernel. I ALWAYS disable animations in Developer options....that alone eliminates much of the lag in any phone. Also, you can disable the S Voice connection to the home button.
Lastly if you want an incredibly ultra fast experience in scrolling and app drawer.... Install Nova...and make sure to make scroll speed "faster than light". You will then see how fast this phone can be when not slowed down by animations. The nice thing about Touchwiz, is that the settings and notification tray look fairly stock JB....so it matches great with Nova.
This S4 is FLYING....so friggin fast, zero lag, great battery life!
Try it out!
Cheers.
