I'm on CM7.1 RC1 and really want to change the battery/signal/wifi icons to something other than the throwup green it is by default.
I don't want to go around flashing random icons without knowing which will work for sure. Any help?

I got just the thing for you: go to the THEMES section of this forum and search for CM7 ColorMOD. It is really nice...you can check out the pics before hand to see if you like it.
I actually really do like the color MOD, I had it on my Evo before. However, when I try to use it on RC1 of CM7, it reboots my phone when I make calls. Any idea as to why?
As far as the icons and theming goes, I really do like it, but I obviously need to be able make calls.
Themes Darkhorse, mixer6. black funk or caelum will do the trick

I haven't experienced that. If I were you I would do the following:
1. Go into Recovery
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Reflash CM7.1 RC1
5. Reflash gapps
6. Flash ColorMOD
7. Restart
If it doesn't work after doing that I would be pretty surprised!
Just go to the market and get a theme. Pick your favorite color, you might like it.

There's about 180 themes for the theme engine that's built into CM7.
I'm also running COLORMOD on CM7 RC1 without any issues (at least not any caused by the theme).

I installed the no carrier IQ SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0 this week, and love it. It smokes, gives me more speed and finally I have a decent keyboard. I wasn't especially fond of the transparent pull down, so I flashed the stock theme add-on.
Well, that's all fine and good, works as promised, but I realize now that I would rather have the numerical battery indicator as well as some other minor mods that were in the original theme. Is there a simple way to return to the default theme for this ROM?
Cohiba asked a similar question in the monster thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976194 ) but never got an answer. Or, at least, didn't get answered in the first 124 pages, and I did in fact read them all.
So, any advice? I guess I could reflash the ROM, then the kernel update, but that seems crazy compared to the 2 second theme flash that got me to where I am. I just want to undo the stock theme and go back to the default theme.
If you didn't backup prior to flashing theme you will have to wipe and flash rom again.

Try Emotionless Beast. Trust me, you won't regret it!
The battery icon, as well as all of the other icons are much cooler than stock or even the theme that comes with Frozen. Then you can use whatever launcher and wallpaper you want to get it where you like. MysteryEmotionz did a great job with this theme and it truly is optimized to work well with Frozen.
OK, I went ahead and grabbed Emotionless Beast (both files, to get the SFR update) and I'm running with it. It looks good, although I wish there were some simple way to make my gmail new messages stand out more. In the default app, they were bold and others were regular font, but now I have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the advice--I'll play with this all day, I'm afraid.
I am running this theme and love it.

usually you can just flash the rom again without a wipe and it will replace those files. Havent done it with this rom yet though so do a back up and maybe just clear cache and nothing else.

I don't have experience with it, but this was the only thread I was able to find on XDA through search (that had any sort of recent replies). Did a search in the thread so I wouldn't have to read through the 10 pages and it doesn't seem like there was anyone reporting in from the G2/Desire Z camp to give success or failure stories, so you'll have to test it out for yourself.
The only other alternative I can think of right now is mentioned by joe3681 above me in the Liquid Villain thread. I flashed the rom when it was first released and gave it a couple of minutes, but it was a drastic change and I missed the features/familiarity of CM7, so I went back. It definitely isn't CM7 if that's what you're looking to keep, but if the launcher is something that's really that important to you, then this may be your only option. The dev doesn't seem to be actively providing updates to it as it seems stable/nothing to update, but a gingerbread port does seem to be in the works/planned.
It should also be noted that there is now an option in CM7 to have the status/notification bar at the bottom (under tablet options in CM settings). This might give you a slight compromise.
Hope I helped a little bit.

yea it does say not installed if you try to use the apk to install it. im guessing there is a compatibility issue
Launchers aren't typically listed in the app drawer. Once it's installed, push the home softkey and it will ask you what you want to use to complete the action. Set it to use the launcher of your choice as default. The same goes for ADW, LauncherPro, Go Launcher, and more I'm sure. Go Launcher does have an icon I believe though.
Or are you saying that the apk fails to install altogether?
Yes I am saying it does not install at all

So I am running MIUI 1.5.13 and I am having nothing but problems. It worked well enough for a bit but now I am getting force closes every thirty seconds. To the point where it is unusable. On top of this, streaming media does not want to work correctly. IE, google listen is playing like ****, as is audio galaxy. Has anyone else had this problem? I have reflashed three times. Twice after doing a format with caulkins format all. Any insight that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Did you do a full wipe using amon 2.3 works great for such. What kernel you using? Stick to stock one that it came with see how it does . Then if u want try something different flash a kernel if everything is stable.
Redownload then reflash, you may have a bad download. Don't just use the format all, wipe too. I wipe everything except the SD card and battery stats. Or, if you're going to redownload anyway, download Stiff's version of 1.5.20. I just downloaded it last night, I'll be flashing it as soon as I put the final touches on my theme.
Steaming works fine for me, by the way.

I will try the above and see if that works. I am using the stock kernel currently. Strangely it seems to have stopped. I was running beautiful widgets and I just took it off (just the widget) and changed the vm heap to 40 restarted then changed it back to 64 restarted again and it is working. I was using 1.5.20 for a hot minute but I had a problem with a lot of it being in Mandarin still. Is there a good thread to check out for the best way to theme this rom? Thanks for all of the help!

Theming is super easy, especially if you have a base to start with. The theme I'm working on at the moment is mostly taken from other places then edited the way I want. A few pieces were actually made by me, but the framework was pulled from one theme, I'm using Aelous icons at the moment, but nothing else from that theme. I may change my mind and steal Raadius's status bar icons if I don't like the ones I'm using right now. I've themed the apps myself, using the official dark theme as a base. Even though I've switched back to WidgetLocker, I am using my own stuff for the lockscreen, just for those times that it pops up.
There are some themes over on Miui.us as well as the MIUI dev forums. I pretty much taught myself by using a complete sample theme and pulling the apks I wanted to theme - systemui, framework-res, phone, mms, etc. If you just want icons, they go in the icons folder of the mtz and should be named their package name and in png form. I'm sure there's a guide somewhere, but I don't know one off the top of my head. If you do find one, make sure it's fairly recent since they've been making a lot of changes to the UI.
Also, if you weren't using the miui.us English version of 1.5.20, try that one.

Can you explain the difference between format all and wipe?
I am helping a friend with his Droid Incredible. I have an Inspire 4G and have become very comfortable flashing ROMs on my phone. When I flash a new ROM, I boot into recovery and choose all of the format options that are available, then I mount the SD card and transfer the ROM to the SD card. Next, I install the ROM and reboot. This has worked great for me.
My friend used Urevoked to root his phone and installed MIUI using this same method and he is having a lot of issues with force closes. In some apps, like Dropbox, he can log in but it never transfers data. My research to help him out let me to this thread and then your post intrigued me.
Maybe I don't have an understanding of what is meant by a full-wipe. I thought the method I did with my Inspire was providing that task. Can you help me understand further.
I did pass the information about Amon Ra to him and he may try that.
Thanks,
Roger
Hi,
I've made a small change in to the framework-res.apk (and SystemUI.apk for JellyBean) in order to have the navigation bar the same size as the status bar.
This was only tested with stock JRO03C and IMM76I. Proceed with the usual nandroid backup prior to apply.
Files with .jb.zip are ment to be used with JRO03C. Those without are for IMM76I.
Put me in a boot loop on bamf rom. Yes I wiped cache and dalvic. Had to nandriod
I dont think that this will work on other ROM's other than stock(for which it was made) due to the different framework-res. If anyone tries it be sure to make a backup
Would love to get this on bamf..
There should be a way to make it work on all roms

Just wondering, what exactly did you change in framework to get it to that size?
AOKP already has this feature built in the ROM for over a month now.
The reason why it's not working for you guys is because the OP states,
This was only tested with stock IMM76I. Proceed with the usual nandroid backup prior to apply.

Meaning it'll ONLY work for stock IMM76I. If you're on other ROMs, those ROMs have a modified SystemUI.APK. So it's causing problems.

It won't because like I said before, every ROM does something different to SystemUI.APK so it won't work. AOKP has this feature built in

I never said you are stupid. But every ROM in the world having this small "mod" with the SAME EXACT SystemUI.APK is impossible. That's like saying that every ROM must have the same framework-jar.apk.
Various ROMs in the dev forum already have this feature. And it's even better, you get to CHOOSE what size you want it to be (46,40,36,30).
It's easy to do this mod yourself. That way you can do it on whatever rom you are running. It can be done in 2 or 3 minutes once you know what to type. GUIDE HERE.
Link to working apktool for ICS HERE. Take framework-res.apk from your rom and place it in the same directory as apktool. Type 'apktool if framework-res.apk'. Then type 'apktool d framework-res.apk', make the changes in the guide, type 'apktool b framework-res'. You will get your new apk inside that directory.

^^ either that or download a ROM with this feature. AOKP is one of them. You can control the size of the nav bar in ROM Control (you can change it back if you like as well). Very easy to do.
Don't most custom roms have this option in settings? I'm on liquidsmooth and have seen this on most of the roms I've used in the past few months. There are tons of options but I use 36px (I've used lower but accuracy comes into play).
Liquidsmooth also lets you set custom icons on the fly, nav transparency, background colors, icon colors, etc. Pretty slick.

Same with AOKP.. tbh most LS features are from AOKP's "ROM Control"
I think people are missing the point. Despite the fact that this phone is a modder's dream, there are good reasons why someone would want to keep their phone on the stock ROM (stability, not having to "re-do" your phone once a day/week, if it ain't broke why fix it) but still might want to do little tweaks here and there if possible.
Example: I wanted to see the battery % on the notification bar, but could not justify the 2-3 hours of work reinstalling 100+ apps and tweaking endless system settings on my daily driver phone just to get it, regarelss of what else was in whichever ROM I'd download to get it.
So, even though I don't plan to use this particular mod, I'm glad there are people working on tweaking stock roms and will encourage them as much as possible.
Here's a modified framework for a small nav bar for those on CM9. I have a Verizon CDMA Nexus so it should work fine on Toro. Not sure how it will fair on others...so be cautious.
I also included one that minimizes the nav bar to 0.0 dp for a full screen experience. This should keep the ICS action bar overflow menu displayed for compatible apps. Works best with LMT launcher or GestureControl.
Flash in CWM. As always, make a back up! Enjoy!
Also included a CM9 stock framework if you want to revert back.
Zephik maybe you should tell everyone one more time that aokp has it, just in case

I think you're exaggerating a bit there. I installed AOKP b31 some time ago and apart from trying out b35 yesterday, I'm still on b31 all that time before on a single flash without having to 'redo'. Also, if you're rooted you can just use Titanium Backup for all those apps. Currently running 350+ apps and using TiBu only takes 30 minutes unattended.
I agree that some people prefer stock, but those people are the ones that will never have any intention of flashing anything on their phone.

I'm in the same boat as you in regards to the dev. forum. I had a small issue as well and I'm not sure if it was just me or what. When I flashed PAC3, I used the goo.im app to find the appropriate gapps for the phone, and it (several times) found the 4.1.2 version from October 2012. This caused the process, com.google.startup (I think) to crash as well as the setup wizard. The only fix was to pull the battery, boot into recovery, and start again with the 4.2.2 gapps in his thread. Maybe a quick note in the OP about not using goo.im or fix for goo.im to find the correct gapps would be helpful. I figured goo was third party so its probably not an issue Chilly can fix.
All that said. I've been DDing your roms for a couple of months now and they work wonderfully. No lag of death, good battery life, and all the features as advertised. As soon as I can post in the dev forum I'll be sending many thanks your way. I very much appreciate your dedication to the dinc2!
