[Q] Splash Screen Help - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Im having a bit of a problem loading a splash screen onto my Droid Incredible, my phone is ROOTED with the unrevoked forever, and i did the whole take battery out hold volume down put battery in and push the power button and did the bootloader and all it says is cant find image or wrong image or something like that everytime. I also bought a new SD Card and i thought maybe that would work, but nope nothing... Metamorph never worked it just kept on saying please waiting thing. im also using [ROM] Nils' Business GingerSense - (6/30/11 V2.2) Android 2.3.3 - Sense 2.1/3.0 + 3D.... yea i have tried everything that i could think of and i did get the .zip right on the splash screen file i renamed it and everything... does ne one have an idea wuts wrong? and im not a pro at this so noob words on how to explain things would be nice lol oh btw my S thing is OFF lol wut is it S-OFF? lol

Is your SD card formatted to FAT32? Did you make sure to name it "PB31IMG.zip" (capitalization matters), and not something like "pb31img.zip" or "PB31IMG.zip.zip" ?

PB31IMG.zip is always right cause i been reading people having a problem with it and forgetting and all... My sd card that i just got in is this one... Professional Kingston MicroSDHC 4GB (4 Gigabyte) Card for HTC Droid Incredible with custom formatting and Standard SD Adapter. if you go to amazon and search Droid Incredible SD Card its the second one..

its formatting now... i hope it works, thank you for the idea im such a noob i didnt think i hada format for i thought it was already formatted... I'll let you know if it works when its done and sorry for the bull crap extra thread, just didnt want to post where a lot of people posted and wait a while for a response or lose where my reply thing was.. lol

It could have been formatted already, just to the wrong format (most likely FAT instead of FAT32). Let us know if it works.

HBOOT-0.92.0000
MICROP-0417
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.00.07.28
JUL 23 2010, 18:06:51
I leave it alone it says no image or w.e then i hit FASTBOOT, then bootloader then goes back to saying no image and the file NAME PB thing then i hit reboot bootloader then does it again.... so i just restart and i got no SPLASH Image... wut else could be wrong?

So far the top one didnt work... now the second splash is it supposed to be named PB31IMG-1.zip? i think thats a no lol maybe i should just have different ones with the same name or make the second splash be named PB31IMG.zip and PB31IMG-1.zip lol hey wut can go wrong?

It has to be named PB31IMG.zip. If its anything else, it won't work.

okay guys one did work.... idk which one it was i added 3 files in it with different names... ugh lol im so close to knowing now i dont know.... wtf!? lmao but it did work it asked if i wanted to update.. and it worked the radioactive thing worked.... now idk which one it was i had this PB31IMG-1.zip, and i had this PB31IMG.zip and i had PB31IMG one of these asked me if i wanted to update....

the first one i posted was the original one, i just repackaged it, the second one i posted i remade from scratch, so i'm guessing that's the one that worked....

thanks guys i found out wut was wrong =D and now it works lol for some reason when i just add this PB31IMG it works and asks me to update! when i do PB31IMG.zip it says no image or w.e so for some strange reason my phone can only recognize PB31IMG =) thank you both =D

It's probably because you have file extensions hidden, and it's being named "PB31IMB.zip.zip" (like I asked if it was before).

Same setup: same problems. Card is formatted correctly, file is named properly. Can you help me out?
Edit: Never mind...time for a new sd card.

Remember try to do it with out the .zip the .zip could already be on there but just hidden... Trust me I had the same problem... Just take out the .zip and add just the file name... Cause ik how to unhide ne thing

[Q] What the hell has happened?? - SOLVED

ok, phone was on charge, phone rang, went to answer, phone rebooted!. Left it but it stayed on 02 screen??.. Battery out, reboot - same thing!
Tried going into recovery but again it hangs on the o2 boot screen?
What the hell has happened?????
Was running DeFrost 3.6 with no problems!
Someone please tell me my phone is not kaput!!
First of all, pull off your sdcard.
Tried that - removed sdcard - still same.. o2 boot screen...
Can anyone help me please?? I cant even get into recovery to to a nandroid restore.. everything i try the phone just sits there on the o2 screen... is there a way to reflash an original rom incase i have to send it back???
I just dont undestand why answering the phone on charge i have ended up with a f**cked phone???
So i imagine you can see hboot screen.
You may try to flash a new recovery with unrevoked.
Yes i can see the Hboot screens.. i tried the unrevoked methos but it wont go any further than saying: waiting for device enable usb debugging... as the phone wont startup.
Vicious circle eh.. thanks for quick reply though..

What i was going to say .... if you cant get to the hboot screen well then bad times indeed
Extreme solution
If you can get the Hboot screen, as extreme solution, just copy in your SDcard (root directory)the file PB99IMG.zip or similar (I have no brand phone, maybe O2 requires a different file).
Be carefull, because this method will reset completely your phone. You will loose Root, every data, and you'll come back to the original branded phone.
You can search for this file at:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/
Download the zip file corresponding to your version and rename it in PB99IMG.zip
Put this file in the root directory of your sdcard, start the device in Hboot mode and it should start automatically!
I hope this can help you.
If anyone more expert has a better solution, please help him
No i CAN get into hboot screen.. i just have no idea as to what to do now???

Ok, i will lose root but will i be able to use the unrevoked method again??.. or am i completey screwed then as hboot will be too high etc...
I have put my goldcard in.. but just cant do anything
So...the alternative is to have a not working phone. In any case, Unrevoked or not, you should give it a try if you don't have other solutions. But I suggest you to read a lot of threads before you proceed... many similar experiences could help you to understand the procedure.
Yeah agreed.. would rather a working phone.. I have been looking at the bricked threads but they are not so easy to understand.. Appreciate the help though..

Ok, i am completely stuck now.. I think i can repair the phone but i just have no idea how. I have trawled through bricked threads..just cant find a solution.
I think if i could get usb debugging enabled unrevoked might just work.
Using the cmd tool i can use enableqxdm 0 and it says okay - however unrevoked still does not see it as neither does my pc!
I have no idea how to restore my nandroid without getting into recovery???
I am unsure weather to flash the PB99img.zip as i have a branded phone and i am worried i will completely brick it!
Just so so lost....
Heres a tip though - dont answer your phone when its on charge!!!!

Can i use any of the PB99IMG.zips then as it was an o2 branded phone??? Or can i use the update.zip (is this the nandroid backup??) thats already on my sd card - have card reader so can mess about with that no probs..
I have just seen where it checks for the image afetr getting to Hboot so i understand what its looking for now... Question is what image do i use..
Really do appreciate all the help guys
Ok, i tried flashing one of the pb99img and i get a CID error (incorrect). It says this is because goldcard is not present but it is???? Is it because i am using a different standard rom to the one that was on the phone???
I give up for today - i gotta go to work. If i could get USB debugging to work i would probably be ok, but when i do the commands via cmd prompt it says okay but it doesnt seem to do anything!
My goldcard now seems like it doesnt want to be one, thus the cid error..
I am just going round in circles here..
Think i might just throw the damn thing out of a window - Its doing my head in!!!!!
All from answering the poxy phone whilst plugged in!!!!!
wow.. was hoping for a few replies.. guess no one has any ideas.. guess i am buggered then... ok so if i send the phone back to o2 - what is worse case scenario if they do see its flashed??.. will they just charge me for the fix or just not touch it at all??

I would suggest you put your SD card in your computer and verify the content. Or even better, I hope you have a backup of your SD Card after you rooted your phone. I think your partition may have gone, so you can't boot up anymore. Try to format your sd card, partition it with Gpartition or whatever prog you have and copy back the content of your SD Crad back up on your newly formated SD card. It should do the trick. The same happened to me when I changed my 8gb SD Card for a 16gb one.
Good luck and let me know how it works (or not).
forelli, in Darth Sidious mode.
The sd card seems ok in a card reader? I did do a backup a while back but i have a spare sd card so i will try that? Would the sd card problem stop me going into recovery though??? I thought that was phone based and not sd card based??

Trouble installing new splash1

Hey all -
Rooted yesterday with unrevoked 3.21 (wicked awesome), so I'm S-OFF and have ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.5. Flashed my first ROM today, Virtuous 3.0.1, without a hitch via ROM Manager. So far so good.
Downloaded various PB31IMG.zip's in hopes of installing a new, custom splash for my Dinc.. no such luck. I'm following the instructions found here on the "Splash1 and Bootscreen Compilation" thread to a "T." Problem is, when I boot into hboot, it's not recognizing PB31IMG.zip as an update, so I'm not getting the confirmation dialogue. Also, when I press volume up, I'm getting "no image" or "wrong image" as the message when it runs through the zip.
I'm wondering (1) is there an alternate method, aka install through ClockworkMod? and (2) are there other requirements besides S-OFF?
Thanks -
Zoon0n

Yes, most definitely, it's sitting right there in /sdcard when I check it in Astro
Thats strange. I would invest in root explorer. Having both I think its far superior. So your booting into your bootloader right? And the first action your taking is moving your volume rocker up?

Whenever you download anything from your phone it most always goes to your download folder. Did you move it out of there and place it on your root?

It's the darndest thing.. it's definitely in the root of the SD Card, I pulled it out and plugged it into my PC just to check. I'm hitting volume up straight after booting into hboot, but it says "No image or wrong image" when it looks through the PM31IMG.zip.. and this is with all of the files I've tried, both the ones I downloaded here and the ones I created. Root explorer is on the list, I'm trying to be frugal however and decided to grab SetCPU first (a good choice I'd say )
Have you attempted to open the update file on your computer, and unzip it? I know sometimes my router will pick up noise and interference, and CRC check's on zip's and exe's will fail. Opening the zip on your computer and seeing if it unzips correctly will tell you if it's a corrupted zip or not.

I'm able to unzip them just find. Inside there's the splash1.img and android-info with the following text:

It sounds like your sd card may not be formatted to FAT32. Refprmat it using FAT32 and it should work like a charm.

Damn... i said that ?? Can't remember....
Anyhow, post back results
same thing
after format same result no image file ...
So... your SD card is formated as FAT32, the file is named, exactly, KAISIMG.NBH, and the device does not detect it...
Question number one, is the sdcard ok ?
Question number two, is the sdreader ok ?
hell yeah
Everything is exactly how it should be. Except i was thinking also that sd card may be the problem but after a few tries with different cards i found out that the card is not the problem. After all i think that may be this is fault of the guys i took my phone to repair usb port but after three weeks later they didn`t, telling me that for my phone there is no port `cause it wasn`t as normal kaisers` port it is mirrored and the can`t find such in the internet to order (my kaiser is from T-mobile from Germany) and after they gave it back to me it started to make this weird thing...
Anyway thank you for your fast answers and suggestion really appreciate your help dude i wish you the best!
"Mirrored" USB port?
Sounds like a regular Kaiser multi-port to me. Kaiser, Tytn, Raphael, and a whole bunch of other HTC phones use that port.
Double-check and triple-check that ATools recognizes the file as a true Kaiser image.
You can name it whatever you want but if the file signature doesn't match what the SPL is looking for, you won't get it to install.
Which SPL are you using and did the "repair" people reflash the stock SPL ont the phone?
And... how long before the gray screen says "No Image File!"? If the image is wrong you will most likely see a group of 8 numbers across the top of the screen.
If you see these numbers, the image file is wrong.
?!?
the spl is 3.56.Hard CPLD-8
THERE is no numbers just displaying really fast no image file it took a long time to even read it `cause it is displaying it very fast and after that is back to three color screen ! I really don`t have any ideas any more ...
Success i formated in fat after that fat32 and this trick worked !
I was just about to ask about formatting...
Good to hear you figured it out!
When this "strange" issue pop up with sdcards and usb flash drives, i always resort to the the old HP SD Format tool
http://en.kioskea.net/download/download-127-hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool
i will have it in mind next time ! thanks you !

[Q] Stock Incredible in BootLoop

A friend was trying to transfer contacts or some nonsense from her incredible 2 to her old incredible and got a boot-loop.
The phone was totally stock.
Now I can get into the bootloader but no matter what i do from there: Bootloop.
can't get into safemode either.
I have only ever softbricked my One X after I had rooted and installed a custom recovery, so i am not sure what to do here.
Should i just RUU? If so can someone provide me with a link to a TUT or a DL. I don't even know what Version of the Stock ROM she had or anything.
(In case you can't tell i know virtually nothing about the incredible)
Cheers

place the .zip on the root of the SD card and make sure it is named "PB31IMG.zip" and the SD is formatted to FAT32 then boot into hboot and go to bootloader and it will scan for the file and when it finds it it will ask you if you want to flash it, you just need to click the vol. up button to update and then it will flash it and then you will need to click vol. up to reboot I believe. if the RUU was successful it should boot into stock HTC android without problem.
thanks but...

As far as I know there is no way to flash things using the internal memory. I could be wrong but this is what I suggest for you:
If hboot couldn't find it then you need to do two things:
1. Make sure your file is called PB31IMG.zip not PB31IMG.zip.zip
2. Format SD to FAT32 File System Format
a. Make a backup of files on SD
b. Format to FAT32 using windows explorer
c. return files to SD card
Also an important note is to check the MD5 sum of the file. The MD5 for the file you downloaded is:
25EC451E08CD98C9495971BCB37E6582
This is important because flashing bad files through hboot can permanently brick the phone.
If you have mini-adbinc on your computer you just need to navigate to the directory of mini-adbinc in Command Prompt and then use the command:
Code:
md5sums C:/Folder/Folder/Folder/PB31IMG.zip
(where Folder/Folder/Folder is the series of folders to the location of PB31IMG.zip)
If you don't have these resources on your computer then there are several MD5 checkers online that can do the work for you and have more of a graphical UI instead of command prompt.

There is a way to put it on the internal drive, but hboot wont look for it there. Did you try backing up the sd to a pc, then format the card fat32, then put the ruu file on the sdcard in no folders. Make sure its named EXACTLY caps and all PB31IMG.zip, it shouldnt need to be renamed though. Boot to hboot, it should find it.
update fail!
so i formated to fat 32.

Remember to extract the pb1img. It's inside the zip folder that was really confusing for me a couple years back

Flashing a New Radio

I recently just switched back to a DInc because I smashed my iPhone screen, I went through the long process of getting it rooted and such.http://androidforums.com/incredible...ow-unlock-downgrade-achieve-s-off-htcdev.html)
I have a FAT32 card, I'm trying to update the radio to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735184.
When I go into hboot, I let it sit there, and then it says checking PB3DAGIMG or something that is not PB31IMG, and it says it cannot find the file.
Anyone have any idea whats causing this?
Moved to Q&A as this is not Development
Please post in the correct sections. Thanks

Backup the sdcard to a pc, reformat it fat32 with a pc, and then try again. Sometimes it needs a reformating to work. The file must be named exactly PB31IMG.zip and in no folders on the sdcard. You must also be s-off.
