hello hope I can help one. namely, I want the LG E 900 on the windows folder access. but nothing works. explorer does not show any folders on. I also made the usb hack. works well. but shows only the media folder. just do not get full access. I hope it can help one.
gruss dante
I also have not been able to access the \Windows folder except to read/copy files from it. I cannot write to the folder.
In mango beat 2 i have no acces to sytem folders only to media too. But Julien Schapmann is working on this problem, maybe he will fix this problem (WPDevice Manager) so there is only the hope for LG users like us

I was recently trying to overclock my phone. But for some reason when I hook my phone up to my PC and browse the files on the phone. All of them show up except the Windows folder. So I was wondering if someone would have an idea on what I could do to get the folder to show up on my PC. And the folder is not hidden because I've already tried that. Anyways I would apperciate some feedback on this. Thanks
I found a way to put your own image on startup
check this and give it a try.

working on dev/chevron unlocked HTC devices
Please try do the same with your Samsung and LG phones if the tools are available.
It requires writing a file to the \Windows directory. I'm not sure what phones we currently have the ability to do this on. Great find, though!
Tried with Advanced Explorer on my Focus. No Wallpapers folder shows up in the Windows directory. Is it somewhere else?
Unfortunately there is no full access file explorer for Samsung devices yet, only HTC and LG.
What is this explorer with full access for LG phones, I have been looking all over and i couldnt find any :/
Sorry, but already old. :|

Hi everyone, I'm having a real problem when connecting my LTE GNexus to the computer. I wanted to copy the TitaniumBackup folder to my desktop then replace it with the one I copied over from my old Droid Incredible, but when I look at the TitaniumBackup folder on the internal storage of my Nexus, it shows as empty, containing zero files. This is impossible, as I've done a backup already and even checked with ES File Explorer that all of the backup files ARE in fact present within the folder. However, the folder appears as empty on my PC and when I copy it, only copies an empty folder.
Furthermore, I then deleted the ENTIRE TitaniumBackup folder via ES, and the computer then showed the folder was gone (so it it's not like it's not reacting to changes made). I then redid the backup, which recreated and populated a new TitaniumBackup folder, but when I plugged it back in to my PC, the new folder didn't even SHOW UP. So now I have an entire folder that for some reason is completely invisible to the PC.
I don't know if this an issue caused by the Nexus or ICS specifically, the MTP protocol it uses to connect (instead of USB mass storage), or maybe even Titanium Backup. All other folders appear to be visible and the files inside are present (to my knowledge). What in the world is going on?!
PS: Please don't just give me a workaround for the current situation like "just upload it to Dropbox". I need to know how to fix this bigger issue for future use. Though if someone could recommend to me a way to upload whole folders to the cloud somewhere (Dropbox, Gmail, anything that allows me to pull it down via a PC) that would obviously be appreciated, as every app seems to only want to upload individual files, even the new DB. THANK YOU!
Hi,
I just had the same issue with the TitaniumBackup folder not showing up in windows explorer after the first backup.
Restart of the phone helped!
Cheers
Simon
its MTP, this has been bugging me too, but for now i got a workaround (i know...)
get SDrescan, its free. it will force your phones media storage to rescan your files. once you do, you'll see your files appear in the explorer. rebooting your phone also triggers this
Thanks everyone! Man, MTP sucks...

SDRescan did not work for me. Sits there forever saying "preparing" (I did let it sit for 30 min).
So, is there any solution for that?
Missing many files/folders on MTP.
This is really ****ting me up the [email protected] wall. I've trie everything, even sdrescan does **** all. Why does this issue exist and why the **** has't it been fixed
Using wifi, I've worked around it by using some of the features in AirDroid (sets up a web server on your GNex and you can login via a web interface on your PC). File Expert can also talk to windows shares on the same wifi network, I've used this to move around some large files as well.
I'm also having this issue, I've already tried fix permissions in recovery, did a symlink (not sure if I did it correct though) and now I'm trying sdrescan.
I'm thinking of going back to cyanogenmod backing up my entire sdcard to pc flash jelly bean and put back every file...
Cause pictures I've taken with Jelly bean are showing up in the gallery and via usb, so i'm guessing copying everything back to it will do the trick.
Most annoying thing is I can flash a new rom whenever and where ever I want and be able to fix my issues, but this sdcard thing is way out of my league...
I find a solution here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28606823&postcount=21
Hope it fixed the problem, I had exactly the same one
Easy workaround : in the app X-plore file manager, long-press on your TitaniumBackup folder, choose "Create Zip", then Ok (doesnt matter where you put the zip, you will cancel/delete it soon)
Voilà! My files appeared instantly in Windows as soon as X-Plore started creating the zip file. So, cancel that dialog, and enjoy your titanium backup files.

Restart phone as previously stated. Worked for me too. :good:
Reboot didn't worked for me.
I tried through ES File Explorer to copy the Titanium folder in my computer via LAN.When it started copying files, then the folder magically showed its content. Then transferred via MTP as it's a lot faster than 802.11g.
Hope someone finds it helpful.
Could someone tell me the way that i can have full access to modify folders and stuff other than those in the SD card folder??
Sometimes I can, but usually, i cant paste file and add folders inside there (like the system, sys, root folder)
My phone is correctly rooted and have the bootloader unlocked
how can get be enabled to get there??
using ES file manager and Super manager and they sometimes dont work
and i hope i can get the full and free access there??
I also hope there's a PC software that can do this part
plz help me guys
thx!!
note
firstly i am quite sure that ES explorer doesnt support root, however i do know that there is A VERY reliable app called xplore
you can enable root access in the settings and also the app has never failed on my when making/editing/deleting folders in my /root directory

Thankyou
but is there a PC software that can access my phone in this way too??
yes
yes there is software for linux/windows BUT it doesent work for the jelly bean update for xperia s however it does work on ICS
I know there is a bug in the File Explorer with the properties window, and you can copy a shortcut of the C:\ drive from PC but MS fixed them.
As far as i know, there is no way to access the root folders in the newer builds.
I wasted soo many hours searching and trying similar bugs and "hacks" but without any success
So i started searching in the registry and when i lost all of my hopes and gave up this project i have downloaded a wallpaper and when i opened my FE, i was in the root of C:\
I have retryed all of the bugs, hacks and registrys one by one and finaly found the solution.
I wasted enough of my time, so i dont want to waste yours
Here is the key to the locked doors:
p.coldline.hu/2017/07/16/2589137-20170716-UQoTB0.png
(HKLM \SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\ CURRENTVERSION\FILEEXPLORER\CONFIG\ DefaultFolder)
By default this is C:\data\users\public (or U:\users\public)
Set this to C:\
(if you leave it empty, you will see the DATA (U:\) and the MainOS (C:\) drives)
Now open your built in FE
It works on Lumia 550 with 15063.414.
INTEROP UNLOCK NEEDED!!!
I hope i helped you.
If you want to help me, please find the way to add this path to another file manager with "admin rights"
HKLM \SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\ CURRENTVERSION\FILEEXPLORER\CONFIG\ NavigationRoots
c:\
Also tried it. Its very close, but i still cant link the C:\ in any file managers. The solution shuld be something like this. I cant find the way to change the direction to This Device.

Ya the default user is not going to have the elevated access to even see everything. On my Elite X3 I can see the mount points U and C. Inside C:\Programs I see nothing. But under C:\Windows I see all the files/directories. Use the ID under localsystem and you would see inside all the folders and have the access to read and write.
Me too. I can access the C:\ but i cant do anything in it becouse if i try it crashes.
We need a file manager from iot, i think.
Thats it. But know that there must be a way to do it...

Does IoT use a file manager like explorer?
Seems it's built for headless interaction/devices and would not need one. But maybe it has a variant or package out there like that...
and for those who are tired of the tab "recent files" there [HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ FileExplorer \ Config]
change the value of the DefaultFolder key to "knownfolder:{1C2AC1DC-4358-4B6C-9733-AF21156576F0}". it can be copied from the branch "... \ FileExplorer \ Config \ NavigationRoots"
Circling back here. It may not surprise anyone but it is a cool hack. This hack works now with root enabled through Heathcliff74's WPI 2.3. I can browse both Data "U:" and MainOS "C:" from the default file explorer on the phone. Thanks again for sharing this.
Edit: It's funny though...when I copy something from public to lets say C:\Windows\system32 the File Explorer still crashes but the files end up copied. Can anyone recommend a good fast UWP File explorer app? Thanks
More elegant: ad ;C:\ to the string value HKLM \SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\ CURRENTVERSION\FILEEXPLORER\CONFIG\ NavigationRoots.
Hi,
I left the registry key as it was and just added ";c:;u:" and here is an image
shell:::{679f85cb-0220-4080-b29b-5540cc05aab6};knownfolder:{1C2AC1DC-4358-4B6C-9733-AF21156576F0};c:;u:

Or maybe USB really .
950 and 950XL I know they support OTG don't know about similar USB-Type C devices
SD CARD is always mounted as D:\
OTG device.
How can I map a volume GUID to explorer? Any ideas.

Maybe you can clarify what the keys under HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices represent. Are they reserved junctions? Or actual active mount points without partition lettering? I want to see if it is possible to explore any of those volumes under those keys from the phone.
