First and foremost, sorry if this has been posted already. i have spent an hour searching and posting on other threads, and yes I am still a newbie and cannot post on xda dev threads.
Alright, my htc evo was rooted with the virus kingdom b1 rom and I cannot use android market along with other google apps. And when I go to the "Accounts & Sync" section in settings, their is not google account selection in there. I assume this is why my google apps won't load. Now is there any to fix this or am I screwed? Everything else works fine by the way, and would love this rom if I could fix this.
when you go into "Accounts & Sync" through settings there should be a button on the bottom right "add account" .... I am on Virus Kingdom B1 rom had no problem with setting up google account.
It seems you forgot to flash the gapps file... go back to the virus thread, or the CM7 thread and look for the google apps file and flash it in your recovery.
You should be good to go after that.

I take everything I said back... I've never used virus and assumed it was an AOSP rom. But it seems its Sense.
You shouldn't need to flash the gapps.
I would flash the file again, just make sure you wipe your phone first.

I flashed the file about 5 times, and it seems exactly the same as when I restarted the phone. So which wipe should I select?
Redownload, then reflash. You may have a bad download... although only missing google apps is odd.
I wonder what would happen if you flashed gapps anyway? Or a modified gapps with only what you're missing?

I initially had a lot of problems installing this rom...
But this is what I did and now it works good
-BACK UP YOUR MEMORY CARD TO YOUR COMPUTER THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING
-Reboot in recovery
-Wipe Data
-Wipe Davik
-Wipe Cache
-Select Partition sdcard
-Select Partition SD
-I chose the swap at 32mb you can choose 0 if you like
-Ext2-size = 2048 (this is 2GB the reason so big is because of the 3.0 packages taking up so much space)
-First flash the PRI and hit reboot let it flash the 1.77 Prl
-Next flash the rom
Hopefully this helps ... it worked for me
This is where I got my instructions from I don't think this is listed in XDA post.
http://infectedrom.com/showthread.php/286-VR_Kingdom_B1-5-13-11-UPDATED!!!
so i decided to flash the latest nightly of CM9 through clockworkmod recovery and everything was going good, i proceded to flash a mod for the status bar. once again proceded nicely. i decided to go into the market and when i do it closes immediately. it doesn't even finish the screen transition... i also tried with gmail and had the same problem. i made sure i had the latest gapps (2012,03,04). When i flashed the new rom i cleared the cache and dalvik cache. i did not wipe/factory reset because it is just an update and not a whole new rom. when i open the "people app" it says that i dont have any contacts and id doesn't give me an option to sign into my google account. (it never did even after i flashed the new rom)
UPDATE: when i go under accounts & sync and hit add account i only get 4 options (corporate, Dropbox, Email, Facebook) i dont get an option to add a gmail
can anyone help? thanks and ask questions if you need something explained better.

OK, I might get trolled unrelentlessly, but right now I don't care...
The girlfriend loved the look of some of these themes, and asked me to install one. I didn't realize at the time that not being on a TW-based ROM that it would fail as badly as it has.
At this point in time, I can get into the OS, see her home screen. Google acct info is completely gone, home button does not work, and no matter what order of operations I use in terms of bringing this thing back to life will work. HELP.
TB will fail to restore ACTUAL settings for "Account", etc. If/when it does finish, the phone boots straight to boot-animation, but does not go any further, period.
I've been at this for 2hrs now, and I'm getting nowhere. Do I need to install a TW-based ROM, THEN wipe again and install AOSP like she had before?
For clarification, I've tried wiping EVERYTHING, including full reset in CWM.
The problem is that I get a FC on "False.4.1.2-eng-nocoast.20121030.123453", and the status-bar is completely gone. I can use TB to remove the "False" apk, but I can't find a way to get the status bar back. I've tried installing the ROM fresh after full wipe of all caches, plus factory-wipe from within CWM. All this amounts to is the ROM booting to its splash-screen without continuing, OR getting to Android, but the home button doesn't work, and there is no way to associate a Google account with it at that point in time. I thought I could remedy this by simply having TB update.zip run before first boot after fresh install, but even though it allows the Play store and other Google apks to install, it won't let me associate an account for Google. The list consists of Exchange and something else.
Basically - I need to know if this means I have to Odin back, start over...or if there is some way to get the phone to recognize the 2 missing components without doing that.
I do have one nandroid, but it was done right after the initial realization of failure with the theme install, so it essentially puts me back to square-one.
You need to be on a tw rom; as that theme is tied into the tw framework.
What you should do is:
-do a full wipe in recovery
-download / flash your tw rom of choice
-flash the theme
In the future, tw / aosp themes are meant to be used on the respective rom source.

What recovery are you using? If you flash twrp and wipe the system, along with the caches and factory, that will definitely be the end of that.
And you flashed the same rom with the theme?

If you're able to get into the os, I would install the goo manager app > menu > install open script recovery > install twrp recovery. Then boot into recovery, make sure to wipe the system. That should do it, cuz just seems something isn't wiping. Additionally, I may re-down that rom if its giving you issues; did you modify the zip at all?

So, I got TWRP 2.3 on, wiped everything, flashed the ROM, Gapps, and ran Fix Permissions (which resulted with "failed"), and rebooted. Same story - goes into Android, home button doesn't work, and no Google account associated with the phone. Also, no menu option to add one. There is only "Corporate" and "Email".

This particular ROM uses a different SU app that I hadn't seen before using it, but I have the same phone with the same ROM, and it runs as the title says, "Liquid Smooth". So it's not an issue with the ROM or how it was packed. I'm trying a different ROM now, to see if I have better luck.

I was going to suggest trying a different wrong, because the instructions I gave you should have worked, not to say you're doing it wrong. If i remember, that was was ported, so it could have inherent issues, or some unknown ones; I haven't flashed it yet, so I can't advise. Flash aokp, I know everything is working there.

OK, here's the latest:
-Wiped everything in TWRP - caches, system, data, basically every option for wiping in the menu.
-Flashed AOSP ROM by codefireX, yet another that I've used before, and has worked almost flawlessly for me.
-Flashed JusTunBean's Aroma installer for gapps, been using it for months with no issues.
-Boots to OS, home button now works, and the status bar is there. Immediately get a FC on Gmail, without opening any apps.
-Still no Google account, and no option within "Accounts" to add one. <----main problem at this point.

Nothing in the menu button to add accounts?
And with that aroma installer, are you adding the thing for the account setup, that prompts you for the gmail account etc? I don't use the aroma installer, but I know it lets you select which packages to install, and you may not be installing it.

Nothing at all in the menu for it :/
The gapps installer menu is Aroma-driven, but it has its own menu. It's designed to let you choose which gapps you want installed "inverted", and what, if any, additional features you'd like added. I've tried everything from completely foregoing installing them altogether, to installing all of them. There is no menu option for adding account setup.
Since all else had failed just Odin back to stock and reroot. Then you should be good to go. You also might have something on the internal sd card that is not playing nice. So id wipe that too then use odin. Make sure you get any pics etc saved first so you don't lose them.

That's the last thing I was gona have him do, but avoiding it if possible.
I figured it out. It had nothing to do with remnants of whatever messed it up in the first place. For the first time since I've used that specific gapps installer - it has failed me. You were right when you said it should be creating a google account prompt as a result of installing the gapps (I always thought that was part of the ROM, not the gapps zip).
I loaded the previous version of the gapps zip, it still uses Aroma, and it worked like a charm.
Thanks a TON for the persistence responses, I sincerely appreciate it. Nothing like looking like an ass to your girl when you think you know your Android...heh

Hi there, I'm new to the forum but have been rooting for about a year. Here is my problem...
I was running stock firmware on my SGS3 and went through the standard cm10 root/rom install process. I flashed CMW with Odin, booted to recovery, installed cm10, jb gapps, cleared cache and delvik cache and rebooted. All the above processes worked fine and once it boots into JB, nothing seems to work. My home button does nothing, the top status bar is blank, no wifi, no keyboard (the process just crashes when I attempt to type).
I know this isn't an issue with CM10 on the SGS3 as this works for most people but does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this? This may be a unique issue as I can't seem to find anyone else experiencing this.
Also...
I should also mention that I've tried a restore in recovery, reinstalled cm10, blah blah blah, and same results. I've also tried the cm10.m2 roms with the identical results. After reboot I don't even get the welcome wizard. It just boots right into the blank, default JB home screen and starts popping up process failure errors. I can navigate around (though the home button doesn't work) but can't use the keyboard etc.
Am I missing something? Is there a way for me to do a clean restore and try again?
Some technical info:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.4.7
cm-10.0.0-d2att.zip
gapps-JB-20121130-signed.zip
Did you do a complete wipe? Data, cache, Davlik , System and then install cm10.
Coming from stock you need to fully wipe.

You can't go from stock rom to CM10 without clearing factory reset thing in CWM.. I don't know the exact text string it uses but it should be right on top of clearing cache.. It looks like you only cleared cache and flashed a new rom.

If updating CWM doesn't help, I'd recommend re-downloading the CM10 zip and verifying the MD5 hash. It could be that the download got corrupted somehow...

Flash one of the rooted stock ROMs. Preferably an ICS one since you are on an older cwm. Wipe data, cache, dalvik. Download ROM manager from the play store. Update your recovery to the latest through that. Than flash back to cm10.

Ok so I tried flashing a stock rooted ICS ROM and now I'm stuck on the Samsung logo boot screen. Here is the method I tried, using Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I used the "Bell Image (This works with Canadian Virgin Mobile SGH-I747M) - Old Image I747MVLALH1 (ICS 4.0.4)"
After flashing I booted into the stock recovery and cleared the cache partition then rebooted. Still stuck on the Samsung boot screen.
UPDATE: I just let it sit on the Samsung logo boot screen and it eventually loaded into ICS.

1) I believe Rom Manager (from the Play Store) can do this.
2) Basically an MD5 value is generated when the file is created and is usually listed on the download page (on get.cm look for "md5sum" right under the download link for each build). There are apps that create an MD5 value from the file that you download and compare against the original to ensure that it's intact. If the values don't match, something's wrong with the file. Check out FastSum (there are lots of others out there too).

Ok cool. Well i have downloaded ROM Manager but when I try to flash the latest recovery and it gives me a list of devices, mine isn't there. The only S3 listed is "Galaxy S3 (MetroPCS)". Well at least you have the proper twrp definitely try and re download the ROM, carefully make sure it is absolutely the correct ROM(I rushed once, thought I was sure n dl'd the wrong one and bricked my older s3) if u have the slightest break during DL this can happen. I KNOW it is frustrating but worth it in the end

So again, I'm now using GooManager, TeamWin Rocovery v2.3.1.0, CM10 Stable. Doing a factory reset, then wiping system, then install cm10, this is where it fails.
Any way that I can restore everything on my phone completely to stock and start from scratch? Anything else you/anyone can recommend?

If youre looking to completely start over. Just grab an unrooted stock .tar from one of the links somewhere around here, put your phone in download mode and let it flash. Clean slate.
My SGH-T989D is buggy. It's rooted and running stock ROM. I figured I might as well flash a new ROM because I'm getting tired of constantly having to deal with this phones issues. I'm thinking about flashing "BeanStalk 4.3.1-1015 - 4.4008 | Linaro-4.8.2 | Diablo3.0 Kernel | [11-26-13]". I just have a couple questions.
1) My phone doesn't actually turn on right now. This morning it was fine, then I powered it down to write a final exam. When I went to turn it back on, it just gets stuck on the screen with the pulsing S. I am able to open my TWRP. My question is, is it fine/safe to flash a new ROM when my phone is in this state. Also, any suggestions on how to fix this or what could be wrong?
2) BeanStalk 4.3.1-1015 - 4.4008 | Linaro-4.8.2 | Diablo3.0 Kernel | [11-26-13] is for the T-Mobile SGH-T989. Will this ROM work on my Telus/Koodo SGH-T989D? Also, are all ROMs for these two phones compatible?

Boot into recovery and check it's version (top right in TWRP), it must be TWRP 2.6.1.0 or CWM 6.0.3.7+ or you will run into issues when flashing/using 4.3+ ROMS, once you have the proper version of recovery then do an advanced wipe, check all except SD and preload, wipe, then goto Settings in TWRP main screen and check "use rm -rf instead of format", go back to advanced wipe and check preload and wipe, you are then all set to flash a newer 4.3+/4.4 ROM.
As far as roms go, you can use 'any' that is made for hercules/T989, the T989D is basically just a Canadian version of the T989.

Thanks a bunch, new rom is a success, just having problems with gapps. when i install the gapps package then reboot the device, i get a message saying " Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" so i touch "ok" the another message pops up saying" Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". if i touch ok to this, it just comes up again, this goes on to no end.
Figured it out

Video recording not working
So, I thought everything went seamlessly until I tried recording a video today. The camera takes pictures fine, but will not record video. This is the case in every app I've tried (camera app, snapchat, various apps off play store). When I press the record button, it lights up then returns to normal. No error messages just a button that does nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Video recording was not working on most 4.4 based/cm11 etc roms for our device, it was just fixed as of today, so if you get a updated rom it 'should' be fixed, just ask in the thread or check OP to see if they list video recording as working.
