How about an addition for the Toshiba "Thrive" tablet? - About xda-developers.com

Would it be possible to get an addition for the "Thrive" tablet added to the "Toshiba" section?
I use the Acer Iconia section daily, and now that the Thrive is out, and I have one, I'd like to see it added if at all possible?

Just a simple question, no sarcasm involved whatsoever.
Does anyone with decision making abilitie actually read this particular forum?

Looking for help with Tilt 2 w/broken mic.

My first Tilt 2 got some water damage and no longer has microphone ability. Can anyone cook me up a rom with no phone stuff? A tilt tablet so to speak. It does everything else perfectly even bluetooth works and will handle calls. But as you all can see this streak is my main device. I would like to outfit it with tts and other augmentive communications for my Autistic boy. A mini computer so to speak. It is already running roms as I am no stranger here. Maybe ondra can give this a whirl. My axim is mint but aging in the view of froyo on my Streak. It is not suited for the task of mini pc. A nice Rom with no phone apps and no drivers pointing to the radio.... No radio... What have you. You guys would know better than me.
Any help would be appreciated. Funds are tight. But just ask anyone, I'm not shy with donations.
Thanks for reading.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
why not just take the sim card out? everything will still work except the phone and texting. the internet will still work if u have a wifi connection.
OMG!
Why of course What a Simple Solution!....
You obviously miss the entire scope of WHY ROM building exists my friend. With the ability to have a cooked Rom on a smaller footprint within the device. Smaller Roms can free up pagepool memory with the right kitchen and cook. Apps can be installed into ROMS. Heck even tweaked to be more "embedded" into the OS or the GUI etc etc... do I really have to get into all of it with you...? I mean come on, why are you here if you don't know "why" XDA exists?
Anyone can workaround this idea..... I want to streamline the ROM as I have done with the Axim X51v in the past. Heck I'm even putting a new Rom on that Axim AS, I type this.... and my other Fully working Tilt later today....
Where do you think my SIM card was and is, when I started my thread from my STREAK?
Uh, Hello! Thanks for your reply though!
Honestly what's with the attitude? You could have just said that instead of going off on one just because he/she suggested something!
OK you want a ROM without all the phones stuffs to free more ROM/RAM but was there any need for your attitude in your reply??
I mean come on, why are you here...

Why are you here if you can't be more civilized against another members reply, whether it is not what you're looking for or not... You could have quite easily said his/hers reply was of no help to you
The perceived attitude comes from the evident lack of Internet Etiquette.... Civilized.... Read on Man You 2 aren't even following simple forum rules and common sense.
To answer your question directly..."You could have just said that instead of going off"
THAT "WAS" STATED in the first post! My Goodness another one!
Had the individual bothered to exercise simple courtesy through reading - they would have read this excerpt.... from the first post. and NOT asked it in his reply.
I wrote... "as you all can see, this streak is my main device"
This indicates that the SIM CARD IS indeed in my streak and not inside the damaged Tilt 2. The existence of the text itself conveys my desire to have this information KNOWN to the reader.
I end with this... Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
This also confirms that I am on the STREAK writing the post from the device containing the SIM Card.
Do you get that.... ? They ignore the REASON XDA EXISTS... and the SECTION HEADER ENTITLED MOBILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT. He ignores the CONTENT of the thread and DISCARDS the FACTS of the MATTER within my post.
HE then asks me a question that was and would have been answered for him... already had he exercised simple internet etiquette.
And then look at you... you come on and Say.. WHy didn't you just say that.... You ask me to REPEAT MYSELF!
Well, I did by referencing the first post instead of hand holding and typing it all again!!!! Mind you friend, YOU SKIPPED OVER IT TOO. Now that's 2 of you.. off topic and asking for hand-holding.
So do me the favor and stop ignoring common sense, forum and internet etiquette, the topic and category section titles... and then ask someone to hold your hand and explain it... When it WAS ALREADY EXPLAINED.... Do you see the problem here?
I asked for ROM development help at XDA in Windows Mobile Development...
His question and post would not have existed if he and YOU bothered to note. WHERE we are, Where I posted... and What the Facts of the case were.
Simple... I'm not being rude, nor do I have an attitude... These thing cannot be inferred or gleaned through TEXT. I'm just pointing out the truth. How you handle said truth is not my affair.
Although I appreciate you chiming in... Please if you cannot help me with my REQUEST that I have posted in the appropriate place... I'd like to reserve the commentary to those who wish to help out and talk about COOKING up a STREAMLINED ROM for my AUTISTIC BOY to get more out of the device in it's current state. I do not wish to be called to view every reply that is as out of touch as the two of these are.
If anyone wishes to mull over the particulars of the START of the thread and haggle about it in such a way as depicted in the previous posts that are in reply... please start your own thread and I will link to it. This way everyone else who chooses to "NOT" read the THREAD STARTING POST and UNDERSTAND my request will have a place that they can all be confused together and ignore each other in peace.
I did not post... Hey what can I do with my Tilt 2 in the general forums, now did I?
I'll say one thing:
This is WINDOWS MOBILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT forum yeah?
you are looking to have a ROM for your TILT 2?
Why not post in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=490
Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development
And since you want a ROM DEVELOPED for you, try posting it in the correct forum?
I don't want to go to your level of Incompetence but it seems I had to....
This is not development, it's a request. Does not belong here. If you were making a ROM and had something to share, then perhaps, though a device forum would be better to use.

USB DAC- Your Opinion

I don't know if there is a way to reduce the noise in the headphones. Supercurio also gave up on this. I don't see an other way to fix this. What is your opinion on this. Do you have any suggestions.
Hi, did you buy the DAC? How can it be connected to the Galaxy S II? Im interested in this solution too!
Love to have some way to make these two sing together.
I've been searching around for answers to this...
From what I can gather, there are some drivers required to allow the FiiO to connect to the USB interface on the SGS2 and accept digital (i2s) out.
However, I think FiiO, Samsung are kicking the ball back and forth on this one...no takers on the development costs to make these guys sing together.
I sent an email to FiiO support today trying to fish some answers out of them about this.
You'd thing the SGS2 market would be attractive to them...like it might be worth their time to make it work.
Perversely, I've also heard that ICS will (magically?) allow USB digital audio host mode to work with external DACs. -I'd reference the XDA link where I read this, but there was nothing more than speculation so not much is missed by failing to post that link, I'm afraid.
I'm feeling a bit impatient and sad... One of the key reasons I bought my Android was to play flac. -However, the DAC implementation is so poor on the SGS2 that it makes that capability a moot point.
Sure would be nice if we had a way out of the woods on this one...that doesn't involve buying a dedicated source like a la Cowon.
There are some links in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19495909&postcount=2185
If I find anything useful out, I'll report back here. I hope you find success!
Only thing I can think of is mass email requests to FiiO asking if they're planning anything to make the E7 and SGS2 sing together.

Apple Wireless keyboard with CM10

Since I can't post in the development topic, I'll post this here. I'm trying to hook up my Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard to my GS3 running the CM10 ROM. I was able to do it with my Evo on CM7, but I don't know if that's a CM team addition or not.

Ever question why u can't post in the dev forum yet? Might wanna read up on it. And samsungs are preconfigured not to work with crapple products. Not really but just saying. Bet it would work if it wasn't a crapple keyboard. Best of luck....
This is not suitable for a development topic, and this is the place for this type of question. As far as apple keyboards go, it is kinda hit and miss. I've had two bluetooth apple keyboards side by side, and one would pair with my ps3--the other wouldn't. As far as I know, apple did some funny stuff that isn't quite bluetooth spec, so if you already have it paired to an apple device, you may want to try to remove that pairing from the keyboard before it will properly pair with your phone. I've had to do something like that to get mine to work with properly with bootcamp on an macbook pro. To the best of my knowledge, the CyanogenMod team did not do anything to add or break compatibility with the apple keyboard--and honestly I don't think they could without some apple-proprietary code.
No no
He wasn't going to make a new topic but rather post in an existing one

[Q] Where are the custom ROMs???

I was so beyond elated when I got my Galaxy Note 8 (N5110) last night... couldn't want to flash this puppy and ROM it with some Cyanogen loveliness; but to my incredible surprise, I can't find any custom ROMs that don't have the Touch Wiz crap on it. WTH? This tablet was highly rated and I know it's not abscure so I'm wondering why there's so little development on this little wonderous machine. Ideas? Links that I've missed? Winning lottery numbers? All are welcome.
instead of asking what are others plan on doibg for your tablet wouldn't it be morw productive to ask and learn how to do it yourself?
it seems rather rude to ask for someone else to donate their free time with no compensation.

There's already a few threads like this, so not sure there's a point to another one. Either way, there is CivX custom rom and kernel, but yes it's based on stock TW. Emwno is working on a cm10.1 port too, and beanstown was supposed to develop a custom rom but that has now been delayed. Hopefully he will do it though at some point in the future. Aside from that not many devs seem to have the device which is a shame because the Note 8 rocks.
nothing more annoying on XDA then someone complaining about the lack of free software...quick whining, and learn how to do it yourself, so you can spend endless hours of YOUR personal life creating something that people can post complaints about, request things that you dont put in the rom, and just generally expect you to spend all of your free time upgrading, and improving for them every time they want something..
I agree with you it does rock. Just xame from a Lenovo A2109 where there was a LARGE dev community but no support for Mac users. Thought for sure there would be a crap load of devs here given the Samsung brand and its answer to the iPad mini. Personally, I think its much getter then the mini even though I'm a Mac girl... note: not an Apple fangirl... just a best in class user.
Anyway, thanks for telling me what to look for and which developers to keep and eye out for. Its painful to read post after post and subsequently page after page trying to find answers to my questions. I do appreciate it.

First and foremost, this post wasn't about *****ing... it was asking a question and expressing puzzlement. Second of all, I asked no one to DO anything or develop anything for "my device". You added nothing useful or enlightening so who's the one *****ing now? Hint: it's not me!

For every ROM that has worked for me, I have donated monetarily. For one device, I actually BOUGHT a unit for development. I've been on this board for several years and have never asked for anything except answers to my questions.
Second of all, I'm a web designer/developer who donates LOTS of time to those who don't know or ask for help. I don't ask for compensation; I ask for them to carry the info forward. It seems rather rude for you to assume and judge rather then ask.

"puzzlement"? what are you puzzled about?
You've been a member here for SIX years; you know where the dev section is in this thread; the roms that are there are what we have at this point..
dont try to "veil" your complaint about so "little development" by saying you weren't complaining, just "asking a question"
We lose enough fantastic developers here when people start threads like this, so please don't encourage the few folks that are dev'ing for this device to leave as well..
end of discussion
Gentlemen please stop making personal attacks.
I am sure she knows where is the place to find a custom rom although she doesn't mean this.
So if there is nothing constructive to add in this thread then just don't post.
Thank you.

maybe I just misread your enthusiasm for the new tablet as cracking the whip on those hard working guys who do what thwy do and ask for norhing back. so If I mistook you excitement as a demand then I apologize.
the gnote 10.1 took a good while to get some dev work on it. for a good while all we had was root, which really wasn't bad at all. It's still not as active as say the s4 or gn2 development, but it still looks like qualiry work. I'd suppose it wouldn't be too hard to port a rom over, but then again what do I know, I ain't no dev.

I was under the impression you have to keep a lot of the Touch Wiz to keep the pen enabled. Otherwise it's just a generic 8" android tablet.
Thank you... I appreciate that; very much.

I was very pleased that rooting was so easy. I had to unlock the bootloader in the HTC was a flippin' pain in the arse so I was THRILLED to learn we didn't have to do that on the Samsung. So, clearly I'm very glad to have root... and have deleted a lot of the Samsung crapware as I'm sure most of us have as well. Though I do have to ask... what is a "gnote"? I had a GTab once which was actually the Viewsonic GTablet. However, I've never heard of the GNote...
I'm not a software/hardware dev either... just web... and so wish I had time to learn. I'd be all over it like a gnat on poop!

Isn't the Touch Wiz on regular non-Note Samsung devices? For example the Galaxy II & III phones? Though I am just guessing as this is my first Samsung Android device.
*smile* Thank you. However, I am a she.

yep, pretty much all samsung devices, except for the nexuses and the s4 developer ed have touch wiz. the big downside of using cm or aokp is that you'll lose pressure sensitivity with your pen (or at least that's how it was a few months ago and i haven't really check up on it).
I think its fine the way it is....

[Q] filtering the models, focusing on 10in

most threads here are from not-10inch... including the sticks. they just list "ROMS" and all of them are for 8, 7in.
Where can i find the latest info for 10? or what is the best way you guys use to filter for the 10in only?
it is a completely different beast with its intel cpu ...feel those models should not even be bundled together.

You won't find much for the 10 in yet...unless I've been digging in the wrong places....
The only place I have found anything of use for the 10 is in the dev forums. You will find a great root ad custom recovery there, I got the cwm(unofficial)recovery and root installed on first attempt, but it is a dev forum, so don't expect to get a lot of answers there. I recommend DutchDanny's custom recovery, and you'll find what you need for root in the same thread.
I have found nothing interesting as far as ROMs go, though.
Good luck, and let me know if you find anything stable and useful for our tablets!
I imagine we will have our own forum once there is more out there that is specific to our device.
Have this changed recently? To be honest I'm using the 10in just for some website testing since it's the only Samsung browser i have... I still use the touchpad for having fun with Android. Can't beat that community.
but the x86 CPU on the 10in is always making me think i can do interesting stuff with this tablet... Ubuntu? FirefoxOS? Dedicated scummvm machine?

I agree that there is a lot of mixing and mismatching going on here. The only dedicated thread to the P5210 is the development thread and that isn't very interesting at all. Under this main thread of troubleshooting there should be three sub categories; 7", 8", and 10". This would segregate the tablets and keep like info together instead of sprue about as it is right now. But it is all good. Just have to, like you said, filter a wee bit.
